After I confronted them a day later, they changed it to the correct amount but it was quite a hassle and inconvenience for me to get the issue resolved. In town for work, my cousin brought us here for some pho. We got these around 630pm on Tuesday and there were about 5 tables seated. The place is pretty big and theres ample seating for large and small groups. Their menu is pretty extensive and the waitresses were friendly and checked on us frequently. We all ordered pho then as apps, spring rolls and egg rolls. All freakin delish!!! The broth on the pho was perfect, didn't have to add anything to it, just veggies. The spring rolls and egg rolls were super good too, all killed within a few seconds after receiving. Now let's talk about how big these bowls are! I ordered a small because I got a side of Oxtail meat on the side, didn't want to overstuff myself. Anyways, I couldn't even finish my bowl. I've been to this restaurant many times but never wrote a review on it. The last visit I made was several days ago on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip near Little Saigon. What this place offers is Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines from Pho(Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup), Noodle soup, seafood, rice plates, bento boxes, clay pots, etc. There is plenty of wide spread tables to dine in and Vietnamese designs throughout the room. I normally come here for only one item which is the Pho Dac Biet which is their special beef rice noodle soup. For the size, I go for their specialty which is Xe Lua (extra large). Sooooo good. Probably one of my favorite restaurants for Pho until another place catches my attention. This time I decided to try out one of their rice plates with curry chicken. The plate was OK. Did not overly impress me. I should've ordered a charbroiled rice plate with beef that includes eggroll, shredded pork skin, etc. Customer service is hit and miss. Sometimes the workers move very efficiently and refill drinks fast, but sometimes they lounge around and converse in a corner. This time, the service was excellent. Workers were friendly and enthusiastic. Order came out very fast and was super fresh. They gave a yummy soup as well! Overall, the price is really cheap for bigger sized portions. Besides, I grew up drinking tea like water at my parents' house. So now our standard is hot tea with pho. Xe Lua's tea is made of loose leaf tea and they don't shirk on the tea leaves. No single tea bag for a pot for two! It is plenty to make an appropriately flavorful full pot. While you don't get a choice of tea like at a dim sum house, their tea is great for a one choice tea. I've been coming here since I was little, but all vietnamese place blurred together for me. Recently, I rediscovered this place again with friends who were looking on yelp for a good place to eat. This place is spacious and big. The food is delish. I like the Bun Bo Hue and the other dishes. I had the catfish here - delish! I also like the pho. Service is quick as well. But don't expect gourmet service - flag down your waitresss/waiter if you need anything. The price is definitely worth it. Pho pretty good here. One of the best so far in Sacramento. I tried a few other dishes from frequent visits. The Bo Kho (beef stew) is ok but not the greatest. The cold noodles and rice plates are sure to fill you up and satisfying. The bento box is by far the most average meal I experienced. My friend said we were going to Pho Train. I've never heard of such a place. Was it an Americanized pho restaurant? But apparently, xe lua means train in Vietnamese. First of all, I was beguiled into thinking this was the best pho place in Sacramento due to a bogus 5 star acct. being created which got me lost. Pho Xe Lua is one of many Viet restaurants crammed on Fruitridge/Stockton. However, unlike many others were parking is shared with other joint nearby stores, this one stands erect in its own plaza with its own private parking lot. This restaurant also stands out in that it is very clean and the decor is very up to date. My girlfriend was quick to point out that this was Chinese/vietnamese owned due to the cleanliness. I had to agree. By George, even the bathrooms were clean. Immediately seated, I ordered the XL pho ba vien, (pho meatballs) while my gf ordered the S pho with meatballs and rare steak. I noticed that there are a lot of yelpers who have complained that the meat was too overdone. My gf ordered her meat on the side so she could dip it in the broth at her own leisurely pace. My XL was huge, however, at the end of the meal, I was still hungry. I think they put more broth over noodles. The broth was steaming hot, making this perfect for a winter day. Unlucky for me, it was close to 95 degrees outside. The noodles were tasty, however, my meat balls lacked the snap i am used to. To put it bluntly, the meatballs were disgusting. There was tendrils of tendon protruding out of the meatballs and they did not seem fresh at all. My girlfriend liked how the broth was piping hot, however, she did not like her meatballs either. The pho was inexpensive...$15 total, however, I left disappointed. I would have to rank this one of the worst pho joints ever. It is a very clean place unlike most pho holes with flatscreen televisions showing Chinese/Vietnamese singing, however, I can't eat that. I have to sample more pho restaurants on Stockton to compile a list, however, this for sure must rank among the lower tier. As for the food, we ordered pork/shrimp spring rolls, and a pork and egg roll over vermacelli. The food was ok nothing special, but good. But i know some folks that this is their favorite spot. This is always my go-to pho place in Sac, and I know I can't be the only one, since it's almost always packed. Still that's never kept me from getting a table quickly, and even if the people working aren't the most friendly I can definitely say I've never had an issue with food or getting what we asked for--extra lime, a fork, whatever. I've been eating Pho for over 20 years. If it's good, I won't eat it anywhere else. Recently, my son suggested we eat here and to be honest I was skeptical. We were greeted and seated as soon as we came in which was very welcoming. The owner himself is present and visible and he even took our order when the ladies were all busy.
