Solid spot for both pho & banh mi with reasonable prices, generous portions, good flavors, and quick service. It's a small-medium sized casual spot good for a chill meal.

Okay this place has been in our backyard for years and I don't know why this is the first time we've tried it, it's so good and their portions are great! And maybe we went here before but it's been for sure at least 3 years since any recollection can be made haha Anyway- Hubby and I went for a quick lunch date, ordered 2 pho bowls- he got the thinly sliced rib eye steak. And I got the round steak with meatballs The bowls are $15/$16 each Huge bowls Had to take mine to go The broth is filtered really well and tastes clean The soup comes out hot The meat is good quality They have the hoisin and sriracha right there for you Service is friendly And the dining experience is casual - you walk in and they're you sit where you want Will definitely be coming back!

Went in for a banh mi at lunch just now to go. The sandwich was made quickly and so fresh. Wow. This pork belly banh mi is amazing. 10/10. Their sauce. The pickled veggies. The pork belly and soft bread. All of it. Delicious. $10 and some change. Pretty fair to not have to drive to the south. I'd like to try more Sandwiches next time. Service was quick and friendly.

We always love to eat all here at this restaurant. The egg roll is really crispy and the food is always very fresh. Service is good ! They try to get to you as soon as possible.

Number 11 broth on the side Asked for clear noodles which I really liked

Had lunch on a Thursday with 6 friends a little wait for the table it wasn't so bad. Place has only a few tables but everything looked clean and inviting. We ordered A variety of dishes and 2 appetizers. The pork eggrolls were outstanding crispy on the outside with flavorable filling. I had a noodle dish sorry don't know the name But really enjoyed it I asked for clear noodles it had ground pork and shrimp and all The aromatics went for the soup on the side which is so much better as you can control The amount of broth. I just remember it was the number 11 and listed as a speciality and it certainly was. Looking foward to coming in again.

Came here for the Bun Rieu based on a friends recommendation. And I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! The portion was huge, I couldn't finish and took the rest home. The remainder of my leftovers filled the entire to-go full container! Love all the different things that's included, especially the pork blood. My husband ordered their pho dac biet but was disappointed that the broth was way too sweet and a bit too salty as well. The noodles in the pho weren't good either. I'd stuck to the bun rieu for this place. I didn't like the bathroom experience, it's at the end of a long narrow hallway that's crowded with stuff, so there's not enough room for when people are walking in the opposite direction. And the bathroom itself was kinda gross.

P2. Pho Dac Biet and spring rolls with grilled pork and shrimp. It comes with a nice creamy not to sweet peanut butte sauce! Very refreshing I usually take them home and eat them through out the day! The broth is very flavorful the Mexican in me wants to ruin its flavor by adding limes on top of limes however, the soup needs no extra additives. I literally eat here multiple times a month, after I donate plasma, after long nights drinking, hard workouts this soup always brings me back to life! I don't think there's anything else that I can eat this much and feel as strong and feel that body is thankful for the nutrients it just received! I haven't tried much of the menu but I'm sure it's great! The service is always excellent! The lady's are always very sweet!

We were craving some Vietnamese noodle soups, and I especially wanted to try their pho (my go-to item). The overall bow was a decent sized portion. The broth tasted both a little too salty and a little too sweet, and the noodles were slightly undercooked. The staff were friendly and attentive and made sure we were checked in on every so often. Overall, the food was decent, but not the best.

Came on a week day, still were pretty busy and filled with people. Decent sized pho and pretty tasty too. Lots of flavor in the broth. Probably one of my top pho places in the area. Staff were super friendly and there were a ton of tables to sit at. Can get lively inside and it's a great place for families too

Combination pho 2 with all the meats

Pho Bistro was recommended to us by a Vietnamese friend, so we knew we had to try it! We both got the #2 pho bowl with the usual combination of meats. I love tendon, and Pho Bistro got it right! The tendon was so soft, and all the meats were cut to the right size and thickness. The broth here is slightly sweet but perfectly balanced, I would say. It's not a heavy broth, but there's definitely lots of beefy flavor. For condiments, they had sliced chilies in vinegar, which I love if I want some extra sourness in my soup that day. I thought the amounts of beef, noodles, and broth were just perfect. They have "lonely" bowls with just noodles and broth, including a version on the kids menu for $7. I appreciated that they brought a basket with utensils for all of us, including scissors and forks for the girls (without us needing to ask). Service was friendly and kind. Pho Bistro is definitely a top pho spot for us, especially in the Elk Grove area.

Came here on a Saturday morning and it was packed. Service was still fast though. I wanted to go with something other than pho, so I got the hun rieu. Honestly, it was so-so for me. I couldn't taste crab fat flavoring. I wish the eggrolls came with lettuce.

The big three B's here (the BBB): Bun Rieu, Bun Bo Hue (BBH) and Banh Mi Xiu Mai are my go-to items. Soupwise, the broth of the bowls has good depth of flavor, perfect portion size and the accompanying veggie tray has all the right herbs. BBH for instance, has a generous portion of authentic pork blood and ultra tender beef slices; the addition of a small spoon of hot chili oil rounds it all out. Banh Mi Xiu mai is Vietnamese meat balls in tomatoey red sauce that pairs heavenly with the crunchy crusted french bread. On another note, the egg rolls, though crispy, contain an oily taste that does not agree with me so I am not a fan of that one. The fresh springs rolls on the other hand, are great. Servers - ultra nice and accommodating. Dining room is kept in reasonable order and generally clean each time I have visited. Pho Bistro is now a place I frequent when craving the BBB.

    Hu Tieu was excellent!!
    Nana N.

Our first time here and I have to say I just know I will be a repeat customer. Their Hu Tieu is THE BEST in Elk Grove! It has everything! Shrimp, ground pork, pork bone, quail eggs, etc. My son ordered the kids size Hu Tieu and even he said it was delicious. Customer service was great. They gave us everything we needed without having to ask: napkins, straws, forks, spoons, extra bowl, scissors, water, etc. prices are good too. We shall return with Papa next lunch time!

We are often seated quickly and handed menus and water right after. We have been sticking to the same menu items but you can't go wrong with those! Recently, we had their dry noodles with beef brisket or chicken steak. If we are feeling soup or it's cold out, we'll get the tomato soup with beef brisket. The beef brisket is so tender and flavorful. It reminds us of the beef in taiwanese beef noodle soup! The soup options includes toppings that come disassembled and adds to the unique experience of dining here like hot pot. What is my favorite here is the dry noodles! The bowls are stacked with noodles, toppings and so much flavor. We normally get mild because they add real chili peppers in here, and it is the perfect spice for us. The chicken steak always hits and reminds us of popcorn chicken you can get at a boba spot, but better. Definitely recommend if you want a good comfort meal!

It's very spacious and full of color, with a beautiful barrier of plants that naturally guides you to where you begin the ordering process. The first thing that caught my eye was the stunning mural on the wall, paired with bright red-orange chairs that gave the restaurant so much personality. The ceiling, decorated with bamboo-style plates, added a unique touch, and the natural light pouring in made the whole place feel warm and inviting. Everything was laid out in a way that felt easy and straightforward. O - Ordering Experience The ordering process was smooth and efficient. You order and pay at the front, and once you're done, they direct you to your assigned seating. I really appreciated how organized everything was. Before we even sat down, all of the pho add-ons--sprouts, onions, mint, and lemons--were already waiting for us at the table, along with the drinks we had ordered. Within just a few minutes, our food arrived. The service was impressively fast, and everything came out steaming hot with a beautiful presentation. This is definitely not your average pho spot. O - Overall Taste & Quality We started with the beef short rib appetizer, and I honestly had to double-check that it was the appetizer because it far exceeded my expectations. The portion was generous and perfect for sharing. For the pho, the bowl was filled with fresh, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles that were tender and not at all chewy, and an abundance of quality meats--not scraps. They definitely do not skimp on portions here. Even after sharing, there was still plenty left to take home. I left feeling completely satisfied and even happier knowing I truly got my money's worth. D - Delivery/Dining Experience This place absolutely exceeded my expectations and has quickly become one of my favorite pho restaurants. The atmosphere was clean, vibrant, and very pleasant. Everything felt thoughtfully organized from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. I especially liked the pay-upfront concept because it allows you to simply relax and enjoy your meal without having to flag someone down for the bill later. The entire dining experience felt smooth, peaceful, and enjoyable. #PhoLovers #WorthEveryBite #FreshAndFlavorful #GreatAtmosphere #FastService #FoodReview #LocalFavorite #PhoSpot

Food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the #3 Red-Tonkotsu, #11 Shio Ramen & Unagi Rice Bowl as well appetizer, Shrimp Har Gao. The #3 was creamy with a spicy, savory kick to it. The #11 was light with subtle taste, not too intense like the miso or soy sauce flavors. Both ramen were flavorful. My dish was the unagi rice which contains rice, scrambled eggs and grilled eel. The portion was pretty big, tasted buttery, and tender, with a sweet-savory balanced. It was good but I've had better, meaning that the way the eggs were made, made a difference. Just know this dish did said scrambled so I wasn't expecting the slighty beaten running eggs that im used to when eating this bowl. The shrimp har Gao was mediocre, not flavored until you dipped into the sauce. Overall, all 3 dishes were well made. Appetizers was not my favorite. Service was great! They are always so very busy, so don't expect customer service there, just great food. Licious has the exact opposite, great service and okay food. We ordered the following: Szechuan green beans- cooked perfectly with a crunch still. Lacked flavor- not spicy. Fish and tofu clay pot- the fish tasted sweet, oddly. The fried tofu was perfect. Juicy and soft, Beef short ribs skillet- very fatty. You are paying for fat. Maybe it was a bad day. Tiger prawns with pumpkin- it is battered with salted egg, but it's not that salty. I wish it was saltier because I love salted egg. Battered and fried perfectly!!! The Tiger prawns are HUGE!!!!!! I've never eaten such big prawns in my life. The pumpkin was so soft and sweet with the perfect crunch from the salted egg batter. IT JUST NEEDED MORE SALT. Lots of pumpkin! Lobster- lacked flavor and was a very small lobster with not a lot of meat. Salt and pepper fried tofu for appetizer- yummy yummy. Perfect. Whole roasted duck- flavor was perfect, but the skin texture was stale. It wasn't like how it tastes at Tealicious. I don't know why the skin wasn't crunchy. Shrimp and egg chow fun- lacked flavor and too wet. Service was amazing for our two tables total of 18. They kept checking on us and even packed all of our food. There were two servers and only 3 other small tables with ours. The restaurant is quite small and is only for up to I believe 35 people on Theo occupant load signage. I would come back if I craved the Tiger prawns with pumpkin, but nothing else we tried. Maybe I'll try the fried rice next time and do an updated review.

Thought I give this place another try but this place failed me again…read more Got the half roasted duck to go. I thought they would give me one from the display and cut it in half like at the supermarket. Hot and fresh. Got home in less than 5 minutes, opened the to go container and the roasted duck was fridge cold like it's been sitting in the fridge for a few days ago. Duck is supposed to be fatty, juicy, and greasy. This duck was at least a day old and cold. Disappointed and do not recommend. Makes me really miss the duck from all the Asian supermarkets like 99 Ranch, SF, and Peoples Market.

Tbh, I was a little nervous since there haven't been many recent menu photos or reviews. We took everything to-go, but it was piping hot out of the kitchen and only took about 10 minutes from ordering at the counter to leaving with the goods in-hand. There is plenty of space to dine-in as well. Their menu is huge - almost overwhelming - but they have a little bit of everything. I stopped in specifically for BBQ Pork steamed rice rolls, which can be tough to find at most places outside of a dim sum menu. The price was reasonable (I think $6.75) and it was a great portion. Very flavorful, tender, and a delicious sauce! We also got an order of steamed BBQ pork buns (3 total). Surprisingly, I don't think it was the same meat from the rice rolls but that's OK because it was almost shredded consistency with a good flavor. The bun is a bao-style bun, so less fluffy than my preferred steam bun type but perfectly steamed nonetheless. We ended with an order of sesame balls (3 piece). I was surprised at how much oil was in the to-go container, and a little disappointed that there wasn't more of the sesame coating, but they were so FRESH! I assumed the inside would be red bean but instead it was jelly cubes that reminded me of square boba jellies. Possibly pineapple flavored? It was not my thing but also my fault for not confirming it what was inside. Will definitely be coming back for rice rolls!

We ended up at Journey To The Dumpling, and our experience was surprisingly... amazing??. Considering my party of 17 people, I knew that without reservations, we were going to have to wait a bit before they could seat all of us. And when they did, they gave us the BEST server. I forgot his name, but he did such an amazing job, especially tasked with handling a bigger party that's my family. Amazing spirit throughout the dinner and was extremely kind. He guided us through the menu and gave us recommendations and even told us we were ordering too much for our tables (which we should've listened to him... he was right, lol). I regret not remembering his name, but he tried the special crack sauce we made and brought from home so if you're reading this & I'm talking about you!! My family adored you!! Onto the food... amazing. We ordered so much, and yet I didn't snap a single picture??? lol. Here are my ratings with no context: Beef Roll: 3.5/5 Green beans (we got all three flavors: garlic, black bean, spicy sichuan-style): 5/5 Seasonal veggies: 5/5 (I love veggies idk what to tell you) Peking spare ribs: 4/5 Salt & pepper calamari: 3/5 Xiao long bao: 4.75/5 Vegetarian dumplings: 3.7/5 Wonton in chili oil: 6/5 (not a typo, this is my fav) BBQ pork: 4/5 Yang chow fried rice: 4/5 Chow fun (we tried every protein): 3.5/5 | with gravy: 4/5 Anyways, safe to say, we'll be back.

Food: 3.8 Service: 4.0…read more Updated visit 4/17: last minute Friday night date with the wifey because if I had to cook we would have eaten around 8pm. Always greeted at the door and pick your own seat, super easy! They take your drink order if you don't want water; note they have a boba/smoothie set-up too which my wife always grabs an avocado smoothie. Lately wife orders the fried crispy noodle combo (aka: bird's nest), and then a Phô bowl and of course A5: pork & shrimp spring roll. Servers check on you frequently for refills or anything you might need or just raise your hand and they'll come over. Pay at the desk. No frills no thrills and food is "Asian" comfort food especially when you don't want to cook.

Needed a quick bite before driving back to the Bay. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and it…read morewasn't too busy. We were seated right away and given menus. The menu had a bit too much going on and in my opinion -- restaurants should have a speciality rather than offer so many items because taste and quality loses itself somewhere in the middle of 100 different menu options. I know my partner and I are pho snobs but what we had wasn't even pho. The broth was basically hot water with a tad of salt or chicken bouillon. There were no hints of star anise, cinnamon (often referred to as Saigon cinnamon), cloves, black cardamom, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds -- nada. And the noodles were way too overcooked making my dish so difficult to eat. I ordered pho and it looked like pho -- but it tasted nothing close to it. I need to share that as a reality to the owner and staff so they can make changes to the quality of their food -- otherwise, I don't know if this place will survive the competition. Also, I observed a staff member behind the counter blending a smoothie of some sort, tasting it with a spoon, and then putting back said spoon into the smoothie to stir before pouring it into a cup (and I saw the cup delivered to a party a few tables down from us). That probably isn't very hygienic and it's sad to see that's how things are handled behind the scenes here. I just happened to look over from our table and was pretty disgusted. Moving on, I hope these guys shape up because the quality and taste of food was actually bad. And, I can rarely say that about restaurants I patronize because I love supporting local small businesses. Best of luck to these guys.
