$4 for a bowl of rice for the table.

We come here for the memories. This was my Poe Poe's favorite restaurant. We came here often with her. It was down the street from her house so it was really convenient. Parking is hit or miss. Usually we can get a parking space right up front like today, but other times it's packed and you're lucky to find a spot down the strip mall. Last time we parked at the far end of the strip mall near the massage place. Not the other far end so the walk wasn't bad. We got a spot so we really can't complain. We were a party of over 20 so we took up most of the spots. We had a cousins reunion here twice in the past year and it was a success. They have a nice banquet area. The food was good. I wouldn't reccomend the all out seafood menu if you aren't into oysters and clams. I prefer the Americanized menus that they never have for banquets. Today was special. My mom was visiting from out of town so I treated her to lunch to relive the Good O' Times. We reminisced about coming here with her mother and what she ordered and about her quality of life. Also we recalled the all of a sudden death she experienced. It was totally out of the blue. She did live a good life. We ordered her favorite dish. Tofu with gravy and beef. And then we ordered Chinese Broccoli which wasn't a favorite of hers. She liked the American Broccoli better, but I wanted some variety and my mom eats American broccoli every week. Today was a really great time and we look forward to returning on her next visit.

Jade fountain never disappoints! For lunch, we got the beef chow fun, salt and pepper fish fillet, scallop fried rice, pea sprouts, and tofu clay pot. Service is fast and food is delicious with the wok smell! If I'm ever remotely near jade fountain in Sac, I will definitely go

This is a Cantonese restaurant located on Freeport area . It is famous for various types of congee . That s why I visited it. I came as a late lunch like 1:30 pm so there was no crowd . It got busy on weekend esp Sunday at 12:30 pm . You may want to arrive a little early like 11:00 am to avoid the crowds. It is always hard to find parking right in front of the restaurant but you can park on the streets near by . There are two huge TV monitors on the wall for Sacramento kings ( basketball ) and news . Instead of a Sports bar , it is a Sports restaurant! Today I ordered the pork liver & pork belly congee . The protein part was very fresh and delicious. The congee is smooth and silky . One of the best ways they make congee and most restaurants have congee that have the rice and broth separately. Lots of tables and are roomy . They have quite a few big tables for big groups . Local families come here for birthday and reunions . On top of congee , other dishes are also delicious. . For example : Creamy soup with egg , chicken and corn ; beef tendons, pork knuckles stewed , stir fry beef with broccoli in oyster sauce, oysters with roasted pork clay pork , tofu with beef with gravy , salt & pepper wings , seafood over rice plate , etc . Today the customer service was excellent. Best price ever. The portion was generous and I only needed to pay $10.75 for the big bowl of congee . Highly recommended! Please come at their non busy hours. Or else you may not have a good experience as mine .

We stopped by Jade Fountain Cafe for lunch. Friendly greet before we sat down. We ordered the combination #1 and #3. We were served a wonton soup before our dish came out. Our dish arrived and the portion size is very generous. Combo #1 the fried rice was a little light on flavor, sweet & sour pork was tasty and the beef broccoli was ok. The meat was very tenderize and the texture was a little different to me. Combo #2 was the same items but with bbq pork chow mien, which was light on flavor and lots of veggie than noodle. The egg roll was very crunchy and veggie. Plenty of seating inside and it was filled when we were there for lunch. Overall, good place for Chinese food.

Updatedd! Came after awhile on a wednesday evening, pretty empty. We ordered malay chow fun, beef stew clay pot, peking ribs and salt n pepper fish. Came out after 20 ish mins which is pretty long but wtv. Overall was pretty good, chow fun was mid tho not enough flavor kinda tasteless. Beef stew was good, lots of meat and tender, came with tofu as well. Peking ribs pretty good as well, tender and soft pieces. Fish was gooodd, lots of breading lol but very crisp and taste good. Service is wtv, classic chinese restaurant but better than other chinese restaurants since they speak some english too. Prices pretty good! Portions good as well. Glad i came back to try jade fountain again!

Beef stew chow fun took forever but worth the wait

For me Jade Fountain is the best Chinese Comfort food spot in town. Sure the place next door is ok. The place across the street is close but is not as authentic. Jade Fountains dishes are consistently delicious. Their best dish is their Beef Stew Chow Fun which is pretty much the best in Sacramento. Some other Jade Fountain staples are their sweet and sour fish, dumpling soup, egg foo young and tempura chili salt prawns with green beans. Prices have doubled since my original review. Dumpling soup was $7.50 and is $15.95 now. That being said this is still my go to Chinese food spot prices have gone up but portions are still large enough to fill you up.

Called in take-out order. Staff said food would be ready in 15 minutes. It was busy on Saturday in the area. I don't even try to park in the lot on weekends. Found street parking. Tried the Fujian style tofu and braised fish fillet with tofu clay pot. Both were good. The Fujian style tofu had black mushrooms, snow peas. Tofu was firm. Loved that it had lots of sauce, great over rice. My mom preferred the braised fish fillet with tofu clay pot. The tofu was soft. Looking forward to trying other dishes!

    Sarah T.

Food is always good. Service is you know. What can I say. Sometimes the best food doesn't always have the best service. Love the tofu pot. I usually order it with fish but this time ordered it with oysters. Parking can be challenging.

I have been coming here since I was young and this has always been a great family spot since then. I haven't been here in years and I am pretty sure it's under new management/Owners. Service is not the best anymore I don't know what happened to this place. Food was okay not the best. We asked for a large table with the Lazy Susan and they refused to give it to us. Said it was reserved. My parents never had problems in the past and that made me mad the way they argued with them about seating. Literally barely anyone in there. If you're going back hoping that it was how it was before don't go. Just being honest...

Chef's special Chinese vegetable with bean curd is fantastic

We've gotten take out from the Jade Fountain several times now, and since becoming vegetarian, I always order the same exact thing because it is mouth-watering, great value, and combines into one dish things I would have to order separately at basically every other Chinese place I frequent. Chinese Vegetable with Bean Curd. Be sure to repeat this exactly from the menu so there isn't any confusion. I tend to get the Hong Kong Style Noodle treatment when I order this one. Are you sure you want that? Yes quite sure. Promise. Chinese Vegetable with Bean Curd. It is a beautiful medley of the Chinese vegetables I love, AND tofu (bean curd is tofu, mind blowing I know), nice and juicy, not fried, possibly braised, I'm not a chef, AND tofu skin, AND all of this is over a bed of thin noodles in sauce. It's easily enough for two meals, even three if you're not super hungry. Amazing. Presentation is also something to consider here. I've never seen a place cut carrot pieces into tiny little shapes. Flowers, geometrical shapes, even snowflakes. Wow. I also like the veggie egg rolls. They're crispy and have excellent flavor with minimal grease. My feller gets meat eater dishes and has enjoyed all of them so far. Customer service is great. No complaints. We have not dined in here together in a long time, so this is mostly a review for to go orders. Check out Jade Fountain if you like a real vegetarian menu and delicious food for a good price.

update: well the burned door into their kitchen is still there but a sign that says "Employees Only" is covering the burn/stained area...perhaps putting in a new door might be a better option? Ok ok - enough of the kitchen door, what did we order and how were the dishes. 1) bitter melon w/beef in black bean sauce: this was a very very good dish. Why? Because they kept the integrity of the bitter melon. Some other restaurants would blanche the bitter melon to reduce the bitterness- not here. it was not blanched, still fresh and green and maintained the original bitterness. spot on dish. yum 2) salt/spicy fish fillet: another great dish with fresh crunchy jalapenos and tons of pieces of lightly fried fish. another great yummy dish 3) braised fish fillet clay pot: this dish arrived but with fried fish fillets and not braised. what happened? Alright just being picky here. the dish was still good with black mushrooms, pieces of roast pork, and tender pieces of fried tofu w/green peas. 4) tomato beef chow mein with thin noodles. dish was ok. The sauce was a little watery but was still decent. This place is still a "go to" place for cantonese style dishes. Just needs a little update on the decor and their restrooms could use a good cleaning and restoration.

Part of a strip mall with other retailers and restaurants. Well, it was new to see so many signs posted about watch your cars as there's theft. A complete surprise to me. Guess in the area it a common thing. Anyway, the restaurant itself was decent in size. Plenty of parking available. Sunday and it was mellow in a sense. Still pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. It's not your traditional Chinese dim sum restaurant with the carts walking down the aisle and you picking what you want. Here, they give you the menu and you mark down how many items you want. Both dim sum and traditional dishes are on there. Price wise, it's fairly decent but some dishes were a bit pricey compared to other places. Still worth checking out. Mark what you want on the menu which they then take and dishes are brought out. Of course we had to have the classic. Shu Mai and so on. Bbq pork slices, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, sticky rice in banana leaves, to name a few. The dim sum did come out pretty fast. Classic Chinese dishes like the chow fun did come out a little later as it had to be made. Overall, the food was quite tasty. I do see why my friends did recommend this place. It was a nice crowd of people that was here for brunch. Loads of family enjoying their meal. For our group, the bill came just under 300. They did include gratuities to it which they did inform us. We got a decent amount of dim sum as well as the other dishes. Food was good and service was great. All the staffs were very friendly and sweet. Drinks were refilled pretty fast after asking. Would definitely be back when we're in the area.

It was a chilly garlic rather than just garlic, which I liked. normally I feel like garlic green beans are under seasoned, but these ones were well done, flavoring wise. The orange chicken was really good. It actually tasted like purposeful seasoning rather than just relying on the orange to carry it. I wish it was crispier, but it probably would've been had I ordered it in restaurant. I wish the chicken pieces were smaller, but that's my personal preference. The chicken was really good quality/ cuts of meat. No fat or weird textured pieces.

The bad - the salt and pepper fish had a great batter, but I feel they're battered too much, and the actual fish piece inside is tiny. My house chow mein didn't have a single shrimp in it. The noodles we had ordered from here a month ago had very good flavor, but not a one note beef flavor.
