Which, it's really hard to find authentic Asian food here in the Austin area. Most are americanized or fusion. If you want authentic, you really need to go to Houston where there's a much bigger Asian population. But Pho 99 is a gem here! The serving sizes are quite generous. We always have leftovers. They use fresh ingredients. And price is pretty decent and affordable. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and I've never been disappointed. It's comfort food like you've never had before. The pho options are pretty limited in this area, so this place is a welcome addition. They've been open for about a year, and are just getting established, so give them a try. My go-to bowl is the #16 Pho Tai, a simple pho with thin slices of rare beef, and 99's version is very good. The beef is actually served rare, cooked only by the hot broth, which is a detail that too many pho joints don't pay enough attention to. In fact, the manager, who is wonderfully saucy, gave me a great tip--to order the beef on the side and add it as I go. Great idea, that plus the broth, is enough to win my repeat business. Had dinner here last night. Was a bit skeptical at first but the service and the food were very good. I had chicken stir fry and my daughter had the pork vermicelli bowl. Reasonably priced as well. My only complaint was the floor was sticky and filthy with food. The staff are attentive and polite, but they can be hard to understand, truthfully speaking. I ordered the shrimp spring roll (x2 rolls) and a large well-done brisket pho (the #12). The rolls are fresh and delicious! The pho, on the other hand, it was alright. The noodles were fine, it just didn't have a lot of lean meat and seemed to have an excessive amount of fat. First time trying this place tonight. We were very impressed. Put in an order for crispy pork rolls while we studied the menu. Wow, those were soooo good! The Pho was AMAZING. Ordered the rare beef and brisket, with the beef raw on the side so we could add it as we ate it. We'd come back again just for the Pho. The broth had such a rich depth of flavor, I could drink it with a straw. Note to self: next time I get a cold, I'm coming here! We also tried two of the entrees, Korean beef ribs for hubby and combo pad Thai for me. Also ordered pork fried rice. Yes we were planning on a lot of take home boxes. My pad Thai was reeeeeaaaaly good. Had a little kick but balanced nicely. The fried rice was good, maybe just a smidge on the greasy side, but was still very good. Amanda was awesome. My family has been down in Texas for two years and we have struggled to find a good place for Pho on this end of town. This restaurant was awesome. The service was good, our food came out quick, and we left fat and happy. My wife and I both ordered pho and we had an order of egg rolls as well. The egg rolls came out quickly and were piping hot. I have been to Pho 99 a few times already with my fiance. The service was good and the overall space was huge. I really hope this place does well to add a little variety to Kyles' restaurant offerings. Overall this place is good and it is usually our go-to spot if we want to go out. I've ordered pho and the dumplings soup the second go around and both were delicious. The soup was rich and not overpowering. Of course, it came with all of the side fixings for the soup. Both occasions I was not able to finish everything. The portions are good and they give you enough of the toppings for the size. My fiance ordered coconut juice the first week they opened and they actually gave her a whole coconut with the top cut open with a straw. I was pretty impressed that they did this. Usually, they will just put the coconut juice in a cup and give you some of the meat. I'll continue this review every time I go to Pho 99. They have a lot on the menu for everyone in the family. read more
