    Beef pho

Second time here and it was just as good as the first! I love the beef pho here. Great portion and high quality meat. Service has always been good and food comes out fast!

We all ordered different dishes, and everything was fantastic. The pho each of us had was absolutely amazing--rich, flavorful broth and generous portions. I really loved the topping bar where you can grab sauces, limes, and anything else you need to customize your soup exactly how you like it. The portions were huge; we all ate a ton and still had enough leftovers for several more meals. I love this place so much--it's honestly some of the best pho I've ever had. I'd even rank it higher than 888 Pan Asian. Highly recommend!

This is my go-to spot in the East Riverside area whenever I'm craving pho because it's consistently good and I've never had a bad experience. I love the casual ambiance where you order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. There's a condiment bar with unlimited toppings like lime wedges, green onion, red onion, cilantro, etc. so you can grab additional ingredients to your heart's content! I also like that most of their entrees come in one-size because I can sometimes take forever deciding between multiple sizes haha. As a call-out, their combination pho (called the Pho Please) does not come with meatballs so please keep that in mind since some pho restaurants do include meatballs with the combination option.

Great spot for a good ole hearty bowl of noodle soup on a cooler fall/winter days. Pho is solid here and they have tripes and tendon which could be hard to find if you end up at a more Americanized VIet restaurant. While their vermicelli is decent, I would not go here if you're looking for authentic vermicelli. The veggies they use is spring mix. While spring mix is a much healthier ( in term of nutrition) it is not what we use for vermicelli. There should be typical lettuce and different types of herbs like mints, etc.. used in this dish. We ordered the combo which comes with 2 proteins and an egg. We chose shrimps and short ribs. Ribs were lean so it was a bit dry and somewhat tough. Shrimp was perfectly charred! I also appreciate their condiments bar. I love lots of lime I my food and even my water so it is extremely nice to be able to self-serve for the extra lime and herb veggies toppings. We also tried their boba tea and it was decent. Green light from me, should you need help making decision to get one or not! :-)

4.5 Stars - A casual Vietnamese spot serving pho, baos, spring rolls, banh mih, rice plates, and vermicelli bowls. There are lots of options to choose from for your Vietnamese food cravings. The prices are great and the portions are HUMONGOUS. They do NOT skimp on the protein. The meat quality is not high but it's on par with what's expected at this price. We got the chicken spring rolls ($7), beef pho ($15), and chicken rice plate ($14). Everything was yummy - nothing mind-blowing, but good. I would like to try something other than the pho next time ($15 for pho with 2 meats). Order at the counter, take a number, and they will bring the food to you. Tables and place are clean. They staff are very friendly too.

Had a hankering for pho with the recent cold front so I decided to try pho please, which was the closest spot that had good reviews. It did not disappoint, as it satisfied my craving and also showed me one of the more reasonable and delicious Bahn mi's I've had in the city. It is a order at the counter and sit down after establishment, and the interior isn't very big and can be busy, but the girl taking my order was pretty helpful with the questions I had, though she was vegan so it wasn't an exact match lol. She put me onto the Thai boba tea however and it was great. Definitely will come back when I'm needing my pho fix again.

Serving sizes are so generous and pho broth was super flavorful! $15 for beef pho (comes with your choice of 2 cuts). Also ordered the lychee green tea which was delicious too. Service was friendly & quick.

This place is always reliably good! I got the pho please and the bowl was big enough for two people to share for lunch. The portion is generous and the soup is delicious. The tables are more of a self serve format, where you order at the front and then get seated.

Ordered pork vermicelli to go on January 26 (Monday) My only meal I had for that day, ended up getting Food Poisoning. Uncontrollable vomiting and ... It is now 4 am, still sick with tremors from the food poisoning. Might have to go E.R if the tremors and vomiting don't stop.

Was craving for a quick Viet food fix and it was pretty solid! Pho broth was strong and flavorful, just a bit sweet but it balanced out! The filet steak was soooo good, I highly recommend it to pair with the beef broth. The brisket was a bit dry tho :( I also liked the condiment/veggie station, which included the Togo boxes, utensils etc. The green milk tea was also yummy. Customer service was also awesome and friendly. Highly recommend!

I decided to stop here for lunch since I was in the area and was pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty chill, no frills type of restaurant. You order first at the counter and they choose a table for you to sit down. I ordered their pork vermicelli bowl. The pork was very tasty. I liked the veggies and egg which paired very well. I'm taking a star away because some of my noodles were clumpy and broken. My husband ordered their pork banh mi. I did take a bite out of his sandwich to try it out and actually enjoyed it very much. Will come back again for their banh mi. Service is quick.

After touring UT Austin, my mom and I were starving and decided to come here. We were immediately drawn in by the pictures of the self-serve toppings bar filled with unlimited green onions, cilantro, and lime wedges. We placed our orders at the counter, and the food came to our table almost instantly while still piping hot. The staff were super nice, and the restaurant had a steady crowd, lots of natural light, and a really pleasant atmosphere. To start, my mom and I shared the Eggrolls and Crab Rangoons. The eggrolls were fine but nothing too memorable, and they were a little burnt on the outside, although that did make them extra crispy. The crab rangoons were also pretty standard and could've used more imitation crab, but they're my guilty pleasure, so I still enjoyed them. For my main dish, I ordered the Spicy Lemongrass Bun Bo Hue, which is one of my favorite Vietnamese noodle soups. While it wasn't spicy, it had a strong, fragrant lemongrass flavor that I really enjoyed. The thick noodles, rare steak, flank steak, bacon, meatballs, and Vietnamese ham were all cooked perfectly. I especially appreciated how generous and varied the toppings were. The portion was huge, and I could only finish about half the bowl. My mom went with the Grilled Pork Chops with Rice, and she loved it. The pork chops were so tender and packed with flavor that they practically melted in your mouth. Honestly, they were some of the best pork chops I've ever had, so I'm really glad the lady at the counter recommended them. To wash it all down, we ordered a Matcha Green Thai Tea and a regular Thai Tea, both of which were refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, this place delivered great food, quick service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

Hunger definitely gets humbled here. We came around lunchtime and caught what felt like the perfect balance of energy. Busy enough to get a feel for the restaurant without being overwhelmed, but by a little after 12, the crowd started pouring in, and the line nearly stretched out the door. That alone says a lot about how loved this place is on an ordinary day. I also appreciated the atmosphere -- it looked like parts of the space had been renovated (especially the tables), the warm wood tones made everything feel cozy and homey, and I loved the cultural wall and self-service stand. One thing I really enjoyed was seeing such a diverse crowd dining here; people from nearly every background packed the space, which felt like proof that genuinely good food knows no ethnic bounds. We started with the Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings, and wow -- these came out hot. Like, proceed-with-caution hot. But the flavor payoff was worth it. The broth inside was amazingly potent and flavorful enough that I genuinely didn't feel the need to dip them in sauce. The filling had this pleasantly crumbly texture in the best possible way, and the pork and crab felt incredibly well blended. An excellent starter choice. The Flavored Black Fungus w. Onions ended up being one of the most refreshing dishes on the table. Flavor-wise, it reminded me of Vietnamese gỏi -- bright, acidic, and refreshing. The red onions had been tempered through pickling, so they brought flavor without overwhelming sharpness, and the vinegar-and-oil dressing tied everything together beautifully. It's a smaller plate, but comfortably shareable between 2-3 people. The Hot Spicy Stew (Malatang) was honestly one of the most sensory dishes I've had in a while. The spice smacks the back of your throat the second you inhale it -- though "spicy" almost feels like the wrong word because it leans more tongue-numbing than heat-heavy. The Sichuan peppercorn usage here is fantastic. Super aromatic, deeply flavorful, and somehow every time my BF lifted the noodles, another wave of spices would hit the air and smack me in the face (in the best way possible). Between the bold colors, aroma, and flavor, this dish felt impactful from every angle. As someone who loves lamb, the Lamb Stewed Noodle Soup was probably my personal winner. It reminded me of a cleaner version of miso soup (which already tastes clean), but with an added lamb richness that made it so satisfying. The broth had this flavorful fattiness from the lamb that made me immediately think, "Yeah... I'm going to need 20k steps after this." Zero regrets. I would order this again in a heartbeat every single visit. The Suan Tsai Spicy Beef Rice Noodle was the accidental order, and unfortunately, my least favorite. My friend actually wanted the spicier beef noodle option above it and ended up nuking this bowl with chili oil, which he swore improved it a lot. For me, the sourness leaned unpleasant rather than balanced, and compared to the Malatang and Lamb Noodle Soup, the broth lacked the same richness and depth. Overall, Julie's Noodles absolutely delivers on comfort, flavor, portions, and value. Come hungry -- and maybe with friends, because these bowls do not play around.

Nice and crispy. The good old Hot Spicy Stew #25: 5/5 still incredibly filling and they're so generous with meats! I keep forgetting to ask for swapping the glass noodles with their regular hand pulled noodles, would do that. Friends had other noodle soups and enjoyed them all, as I thought. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. Because the restaurant is rather small, I had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. Jim, one of the owners, said if I had ordered 3 items it would take about 45 minutes, that's why I went with one. The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast.
