P6. Chicken Pho / Phở Gà
    Samantha N.

The broth was definitely not homemade. It was clearly not pho broth, it was run-of-the-mill chicken stock. The chicken was very bland and dry as well. Had to add fish sauce and soy sauce to introduce some semblance of flavor. I could have made that at home for $4, but instead I paid $16 for a bowl of tasteless broth. The portions were wild, could definitely share a bowl between three people. Service was super fast.

Out with some friends and old colleagues catching up, reminiscing, and having a good time. We chose some Vietnamese cuisine and tried out a new establishment. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the interior design was fine. As a group, we ordered a spread: chicken pho, beef pho, egg rolls, banh mi, and Korean short ribs. Interestingly, the menu was quite different from what you find online--the appetizer list is actually double. They even offer a filet mignon banh mi if you're interested, and the soft drinks don't come in cans. It was a great time catching up, with several topics presented to provide opinions and learn more about ourselves. We spent time afterward outside, where one of our colleagues divulged her schadenfreude, laissez-faire attitude toward death and how we, as humans, are below animals. I had to dub her the "Queen of the Gaslight," as she manifested multiple professions throughout the night, including biologist, doctor, astrologist, and social media influencer. In the end, despite the frightening level of human debasement, her idiosyncrasies are why we enjoy her company; we love her for being authentic. Back to the food. The broth in the pho was good. While it wasn't the greatest I've ever had, it certainly wasn't the worst. With a little hoisin, lemon, and basil, it hit the spot I was craving. The meatballs were fine and the rare steak was tender. The tripe was a little tough, but overall, I feel comfortable giving the bowl an 8/10. The egg rolls were average--I'd lean toward a 5/10--and the short ribs were flavorful, though slightly difficult to eat. Pricing was on the higher end, but being in a mall justifies the cost. They offer several specialty dishes, and I'll likely be back to try their other selections. I'm a fan, and I have no doubt you will be too.

Service was good. Place looked decently clean. The food on the other hand was not good. We were visiting and wanted pho. Looked up the reviews and it looked good so we gave it a shot. We tried a few different things on the menu. We got Korean short ribs plate, pho, bun Bo hue, and a baguette dish that u don't remember the name. The only decent one was the bun Bo hue but it didn't taste like bun Bo hue. The pho tasted like a noodle pack you can make at home. The Beef Short Rubs were ok but the portion was very little considering it was about $20. My recommend but that is my preference.

    SPECIAL COMBO BANH MI

I enjoyed my big ass BANH MI sandwich. At $19.000 (the extra zero is how it actually shows in the menu, this didn't have me asking, "Where the fox the rest of it?!" From memory, here's what was included on the sizzling skillet: The Typical Vegetables included with Banh Mi. Filet Mignon Pate Pork Roll Hot Dog Pieces, Nicely Cut for Visuals Eggs x 2, Sunny Side Up Baguette, Larger Than Usual I'd definitely do this again. I can hear myself gaining weight whenever I think of it. I loved my Vietnamese Ice Coffee. It wasn't too strong and didn't turn my stomach. I liked that it was made with a higher ratio of heavy cream, as opposed to condensed milk. Complaints: 1. The prices overall need to come down several dollars. It seems like there's a bit of gouging going on. 2. My server with the Tootsie glasses, seemed like kind of a douche. It seemed like she was ready to walk away after every question I had. Was she in a hurry to add more tattoos to her neck? The other girls were friendlier. Awesome food but the attitude needs to change.

    Chicken pho with veggies

My son and I were looking for healthy comfort food while we were in Yuba City. Pho Yuba hit the spot on a rainy night. This restaurant is clean and bright inside with friendly quick service. We shared the crispy egg rolls which were small crunchy and tasty. My son enjoyed his grilled pork rice plate. It's a generous portion of well seasoned pork served with a mound of fresh rice and a small salad. I really enjoyed my chicken pho. I added veggies to it and it was perfect. Lots of veggies, poached chicken breast and noodles in a clean light broth. The broth tasted of chicken and veggies and wasn't too salty. Yum!

    Wonton soup which was great.

Tried their pho and was disappointed. There's better in yuba city. Luckily I tried their shaking beef and that was delicious. Went back the second time for the shaking beef and it wasn't the same from the first time. Pricing is pretty high for the quality of food. Don't know if I will go back.

P1. Special Pho / Phở Đặc Biệt only $15!!!

My first time trying Pho Yuba & I definitely will be coming back! A cute dine-in inside the mall so that's a plus. The special pho was amazing & so was the Thai tea. Service was great!

    Grand opening Jan 28, 2023 - Feb 28, 2023; all orders 20% off.

I came here last week on 25 Feb 2023. Overall great place to dine in, excellent location, food was amazing. However, pricing is a little too steep once the Grand Opening 20% off everything is gone by 1 Mar 2023. Will I be back? Probably not, but to show support for the grand opening and the 20% discount is what swayed me to dine in. Because without it, ALL the prices doesn't justify it besides the pho, but the rest TOO EXPENSIVE in my most honest humble opinion! I don't think this business will last going by the geographic demographic here in Yuba City. The local population lives in minimum wage and lives pay check to pay check. I'm just glad I don't live pay check to pay check, and this place doesn't even offer Senior/Military Discount. I've been to the Greater Sacramento Area, and a lot of their prices are more favorable like for a Banh Mi sandwich only $6 with tax, drink $5 with tax, etc. However at Pho Yuba, I don't justify paying almost $10 for a sandwich after taxes but am sure glad I saved 20% off of it from the Grand Opening Discounts. If this business wants to thrive, I suggest re-pricing their menu and take a look at the demographic population of Yuba City. Because I definitely won't be back. Hence, Pho Cali right across the street is much cheaper and sells practically the same thing next to Chipotle in Yuba City. Take a photo of Pho Yuba's pricing menu and compare with Pho Cali, you'll thank me later and your wallet will forever be great full. Did you know they even tastes exactly the same but a fraction of the costs? LOL! Pros: -Friendly Staff -Great Atmosphere -Very CLEAN Cons: -Literally EXPENSIVE, you are paying extra for the aesthetics! LOL. Don't be fooled.

Well Everyone decided to try a place I tried 20 yrs ago when I first moved here... (mind you I always order it to go and thought they were to high priced , but the food was good) We walked in no one in the place . Then the cook walked out with a dirty apron on and said someone will be right with you . The place smelt very stale and the seats were torn and worn out . But hey always give a place the benefit of the doubt . The waitress walks up no smile , no greeting , no nothing. She hands us the menus and asked what do you want to drink ? I order ice tea and mom a water . I Decided to use the restroom . As I was walking down the hallway you could see the kitchen area and it was a mess, things just setting out everywhere . I just had this gut feeling we shouldn't eat here . Then I enter the restroom from " HELL" ! If you eat here STOP! This place is a total food poisoning trap ! Imagine the kitchen if the bathroom looks like this ! I didn't even use the restroom . I took pictures and walked out . The last health department check was a year ago , it's posted in hallway ... really ? Looks like this bathroom hasn't been cleaned in years ! Obviously the health department isn't doing their job this place needs to be shut down ! I came out of restroom more customers walked in , I said go check out restroom before you eat here . I paid 3.99 for the glass of tea , the waitress put it in a to go cup and told my mom lets go . I walked out dumped the tea in the trash and said WTF !!! It truly makes me sad that people don't take pride in what they do. They should be ashamed charging 17.99 - 25.99 a plate of filthy crap to our community.

So there I was... sitting on an oil rig in Alaska, talking to a sheriff's deputy with over 20 years…read moreon the job. He says, "My buddies keep telling me about this place called Pho King Good." Funny part? Even he had never been there. Well, that little story stuck with me. Fast forward a few weeks. My road trip partner, Koda, and I are heading home from Disneyland, cutting through Sacramento toward Grass Valley. We roll into Auburn and BOOM there it is. Pho King Good. Now let's just take a second to appreciate that name. If you're gonna swing for the fences with a name like Pho King Good, you've set the bar about as high as Mount Everest. You don't get to be "pretty decent." You'd better make me question every bowl of pho I've ever eaten. The sign? Absolutely iconic. It practically jumps out and hollers at you from the side of the road. Easy in, easy out. Road-tripper approved. Walking inside, though, I was expecting a little more "Pho King Palace" and a little less "we've been meaning to remodel since the Clinton administration." The marble counter looked nice enough, but the place just felt like it needed a little love. If I owned a restaurant with a name that good, I'd lean into it. Give me lanterns. Give me atmosphere. Make me feel like the King just walked in. Charge me another couple bucks if you have to I wouldn't mind if the experience matched the name. Then came the menu. It felt a little like Dysfunction Junction. They had everything listed, but it wasn't organized in a way that made ordering easy. Give me sections. House Pho. Beef Pho. Chicken Pho. Special Pho. Help a hungry traveler out. The food? Solid... right down the middle of the road. After hours in the car, a hot bowl of pho hits the spot no matter what. Koda really enjoyed his chicken dish, and our vegetable egg rolls with the peanut sauce were decent, although the wrapper was just a touch on the rubbery side. The owner was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which always counts for something. My only real disappointment was this: with a name like Pho King Good, I expected to leave saying, "That's the best pho I've ever had." Instead, I left saying, "That was... good." And then came the plot twist. Time to pay. Cash only. So now I'm walking out to the ATM like I'm making a withdrawal for a back-alley poker game or a dispensary run. I'm standing there thinking, "Well... this tip just took a hit because I wasn't planning on paying an ATM fee for my noodles." I still don't quite understand it. You're giving change, printing receipts, running a business... we're already 95% of the way to taking cards! Overall, this wasn't about whether the food was amazing or terrible. It was about the experience. Sometimes that's the story worth telling. Would I stop again on another road trip? Probably. Because sometimes a bowl of pho, your best buddy Koda riding shotgun, and a restaurant with the greatest pun in California are all you really need. And if they ever decide to polish the place up and make it live up to that legendary name... It might just become Pho King Great.

VEGAN SIGHTING!!! I…read moredon't even know where to start my fellow vegans. This quirky, Vietnamese restaurant in the city of Auburn, CA, has by far the best vegan Banh Mi sandwich. The tofu was prepared so it did not take up the whole sandwich. The pickled radish and carrots had the perfect and balanced of sour and sweet. Of course, can't leave out the herbs of cilantro and fresh jalapinjoes. The french bread was crispy outside but still soft and hearty as you take a bite. My earth was it a 2 thumbs up!!! Then their vegan pho with veggies and tofu did not disappoint. Their veggie broth was perfectly blended and made wonderfully that I was not even thinking this was vegan. The staff was kind and informative. They were attentive and friendly. Then comes the merch. If you like a play on the word Pho, then come and check out their shirts for sale. All I have to say is "Life is Pho king good." With this said, another gem in Auburn, CA.
