We recently tried Ocean Crab, and overall it was a good experience. Their seafood boil was pretty good, although I think the sauce could use a little more garlic for extra flavor. One personal preference of mine is that I wish they served the mini sausages in larger chunks instead of slicing them so thin. The service was okay. It seems like they're still working out their hosting system and getting guests seated efficiently, but that's understandable for a newer restaurant. The prices were very reasonable for a local seafood boil spot. We also enjoyed the fried oysters and the fried onions. The calamari was just okay, but still decent. The restaurant itself was clean, spacious, and had a nice atmosphere. I wish the owners the very best and hope Ocean Crab is around for a long time. The restaurant was very clean and really cold to keep the flys that wandered in at a minimum. I had to keep swatting away one pesky one the whole meal. Other than that, the seafood was good, the crab could've been cooked longer because the meat wouldn't come out so easy and it definitely was not soft shell crab. The shrimp I think was precooked and heated for rest of order, it was very firm but also tasty. The lobster tail was actually pretty good size, I'd say about 6 oz; it was slightly sweet and could have been cooked longer, because if you've ever had lobster before that was cooked long enough the meat should've come out of the tail all together. The lobster membrane was tough, that's how I knew it wasn't cooked long enough. All the lobster meat should've come out very easily. By the time I got to the one potato and corn it was already ice cold because of the air conditioning. Overall, the service was spot on, very nicely decorated inside and busy. They were not cooked all the way through and politely ask they drop them back in the fryer to finish them up. They returned...still just a bit doughy in the center. Went here after seeing so many reviews on social media and decided to check it out. My husband and I came maybe an hour after they opened and were seated immediately. The restaurant is pretty big, has lots of seating. They also have a huge bar in the middle. Since they just opened, they still have wires hanging from the ceiling, but I'm sure with time, it'll get fixed. The bathroom is around the corner towards the left side of the restaurant. It was nice and clean. I did notice a lot of boxes outside the restaurant this kind of made it look messy. There was also a huge pot of oil just sitting outside. I think they can do better with keeping that area cleaner and more organized, especially since they get a pretty good view of the lake. I think for people who sit on that side of the restaurant, I wouldn't want to see broken down boxes outside piling up. We ordered two Combo A, I believe it came with shrimp, sausages, crab leg, corn, egg and a potato. I got the house special (which contains all the sauces) and medium spicy. I think my husband ordered garlic with medium spice. The shrimp and crab legs were good. They tasted fresh and not frozen. It was still soft after being boiled and easy to peel. The corn was super sweet, the egg was a nice touch (never had an egg in a seafood boil before) and the sausages were good too. The potato was big! some parts were soft enough to eat and other parts were still hard. I think it needed a little bit more time to cook thoroughly. Overall, we were both very happy and surprised! Came in to give it a try and overall it was just meh. We got Combo C, house special sauce in medium spicy level. The snow crab tasted frozen as did the corn. Dungeness crab was the best as were the shrimp (no heads). The sausage was WAY too salty seeing as the sauce already was. The flavor wasn't very strong and the heat was just okay, very very mild even for a medium. We also got 6 wings with buffalo on the side. The wings weren't too bad, the buffalo was very basic Franks out of the bottle so I'd probably try a different flavor if we visit again. We also got a molten chocolate cake which was just very meh as well. Service was okay, minimal rounding and was brought the check before we got a chance to order dessert. They did have Po Boys that looked good enough to possibly come back and try. Overall, I would still prefer to make the drive to Sac for some quality seafood boil but nice to have local variety in a pinch/ for those who would rather stay local. *FYI they are not serving alcohol quite yet. read more

We got butter & garlic seasoning - no spice - it was a delicious sauce. Maybe a little on the salty side, but that's my only critique. Corn & potatoes were perfect & delicious in the sauce. We decided to give Ocean Crab a try since they're newly opened, and we're so glad we did! Give them a little grace as they get settled because I truly think they're going to be the next hot spot. We ordered our boil at spice level 2, and it was PERFECT. It had just the right amount of heat--enough to leave your lips nice and tingly without overpowering the seafood. The seasoning was packed with flavor, buttery, garlicky, and addictive. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the crab was sweet and easy to crack, and the oysters... WOW. They were incredibly fresh, meaty, and a great size. You can definitely tell they aren't skimping on quality. We also tried the waffle fries, and they were crispy, well-seasoned, and the perfect side to soak up all that delicious sauce. Came again on a busy Sunday night. Service was still on point and staff were friendly. Saw a young lady wiping clean the chairs and booths and making the set up nice and clean. This time tried the shrimp combo and family special with snow crab and shrimp with head with my family of 4 and it was MORE than enough food. My husband and I went on a Sunday. When we arrived the restaurant was not at all busy. We were sat right away. First the place needs a little touching up. The tables were like they were old. The paint was peeling. Now on to the food! My husband ordered shrimp with sweet potato fries. He liked it ok. I ordered a combo with half snow crab and a lobster tail. It came with 2 potatoes and 2 corn. I ordered it with medium spice and house special sauce. The sauce was sooooo salty and transparent. It didn't even coat the crab or lobster at all. I even ordered a side of it and I had to dig to get all the thick goodness from the bottom of the bowl.They charged me five dollars for a side of house special. Please lighten up on the salt!! All you taste is salt! No flavor! Also put the thicker parts of the sauce in with the crab. If you all would spruce the place up a bit more and improve the butter sauce you would have a line waiting. My honest review: I'd like to call myself a seafood boil connoisseur. No complaint with the service there was a full staff and they were nice. I'm only commenting base on the seafood sauce; specifically the (house special seasoning mix.) I've been reading and seeing other customers post their reviews and I knew the sauce was going to come out more on the buttery side and little to no seasoning sauce to also dip your seafood in. So I had no choice but to order a side sauce (house special sauce that's what they call it) and specifically requested it to have more of the seasoning sauce from the bottom of the pot so I can dip my seafood. My opinion if you're going to have a seafood boil recipe, it's not only just the butter that should be more visible when give to the customers that has barely any of its seasonings in the bag when customers eat. It should be enjoyed with a good amount of seasoning and butter ratio in the bag. ON TOP OF ALL THAT! It was salty af. I had to squeeze extra lemon. The price for a 1lb head on shrimp for $20!?? That's crazy as fuck! I order a side of sauce for like $5. I got the trio (which came with 1 full corn in half, 2 red potatoes, and 1 hard boiled egg for $4. Which the trio price was fairly reasonable for the restaurant price. Obviously, I ate my seafood because I paid for it. As you can see the side sauce I had to use my spoon to dig out to put on a separate plate to dip bc there was just way too much butter and not enough sauce. I won't eat here again. It's so nice to have an actual seafood place in this area. My wife had the mussels and clams which she said were great. I myself had the no head shrimp and fried shrimp combo and it was very tasty. I was really excited to try this place, as I love Big Hot Crab in Chico, and I was hoping a place with a similar business just down the street from my house would be just as good. I was severely disappointed. This place is not good at all. The potatoes in our bags weren't cooked all the way, they were raw in the middle, and the corn is obviously frozen corn cobs that were severely overcooked. The seasoning oil they put in the bags is disgusting. They pretend it's butter, but it's obviously some kind of gross butter substitute. We asked for cups of butter after tasting the disgusting sauce the season the bags with, and it made it worse. It's not butter, it wasn't even butter flavored, it's just nasty oil. You shouldn't advertise things as butter and then give them some kind of nasty butter substitute. My wife also ordered garlic butter in her bag, with no spice, and it tasted like there was Cajun spice, which my wife does not like, and it was hotter than the higher spice level that I ordered. If you want an actual good seafood boil, that doesn't just coat everything in gross oil, go to big hot crab. It's less expensive for more food, and it tastes way better. 's The food might be great and it taste delicious but the customer service sucks. They won't allow you to change up the menu items and don't offer just a single fillet of fish. That's all I was ordering with appetizers. The guy behind the counter told me he had no way of charging me because his cash register didn't have the option to bring me up. Overall, I might love seafood. But unfortunately, the experience I had today was unbelievable. They say the customers always right and they get what they ask for but in this case, I was hungry and I didn't wanna go anywhere else and I just ordered something on the side. Truthfully and giving you my honest opinion. I don't think this place is gonna be a success. The person behind the counter didn't let me order anything other than what was on their given menu. And there was no other options. This place is very expensive. If you really have a big pocket book, you come over there and have all the seafood you can eat. Gave it a try. Stuck to simple things to check it out. Good clam chowder! Ocean sweetness, lots of clams. I got a shrimp po-boy. Was good. Crispy shrimp, not over cooked. The roll was dry. It would have been a real improvement by brushing some of their house sauce, or mayo on it. The cocktail sauce with it was good. Cajun fries were good and not overly seasoned.
