We always order the shrimp spring rolls to start, and I usually get the half chicken plate, which is always flavorful and cooked perfectly. My kids love the bánh mì sandwiches, and the catfish is another standout dish that we highly recommend. The food is consistently authentic, the portions are generous, and everything tastes fresh. This is one of the few restaurants around that stays open between 3-5pm. I came for a very late lunch around 3:30. They did have a fairly good number of customers during that time, perhaps for that very reason. It's a basic storefront restaurant in a strip shopping center. Nothing too unique or special, and it is clean. Parking is readily available so that shouldn't be an issue. Service is good. Again, nothing that one wouldn't expect for this type of place. I had a hunger for a sandwich, a Vietnamese one! Banh Mi. They had five basic types and I got the grilled pork. I tend to like a tofu, but that wasn't an option. We started with won tons for an appetizer. They were deep fried to a crisp. The sandwich was just OK, like everything else here. nothing special. I thought bread was a bit stale, not like I've had elsewhere. The sandwich also didn't pack mucn flavor. Overall it satisfied the hunger yet I doubt this is the high point of the menu. The grilled beef had a nice char and was super tender. There was a good amount of lettuce, pickled veggies, and cucumbers, which added a nice crunch and made the dish feel really refreshing. -House Special Pho: I was slightly disappointed with the broth. What a nice find in Rocklin! Pho Cali is a short drive from the Roseville Galleria, and is a nice place to sit down for a good meal, especially as the offerings at the Galleria aren't the best. I've had this place bookmarked for a while, but didn't get to check it out until recently. The smell of boiling broth hit my nose as soon as I got out of the car. That's always a good sign. It was a hot day, but I still wanted pho. It wasn't very busy when we arrived, probably due to the heat, so we were seated immediately. The dining area isn't the largest, but it was clean and spacious. I went for the pho dac biet, while my husband went for the dry wonton and BBQ pork hu tieu. I also ordered a Thai tea. Our food arrived pretty quickly, and my bowl of pho was huge. It was packed with meat, broth, and a good helping of noodles. My husband's bowl was also filled well, and came with a good-sized side of wonton soup. I had a quick sip of my broth before adding any fixings, and it was delicious and fatty. It seemed that the kitchen staff didn't skim off the extra fat during cooking the broth, but I didn't mind. It was so beefy and flavorful. (Normally that would be reserved on the side as nuoc beo.) As far as fixings, the herbs were fresh. There was no chili oil at our table, but this was one of the rare times I didn't care about adding it, since the broth was so good. The noodles were perfectly cooked, however, the meat was tough for my taste. There was a ton of meat, so I'm definitely not complaining about the portion size, but the pieces of meat were neither sliced thinly or as tender as I would have liked. My husband, on the other hand, really liked his BBQ pork and wontons, and also said his noodles were really bouncy and to his liking. The hu tieu sauce was also flavorful. The Thai tea was refreshing and the perfect size. It wasn't watered down or too sweet, as I'm not a fan of sweet Thai tea. The balance between tea and cream was good. It also had the perfect amount of ice. I do not like when I pay $6 for a drink and the majority of my drink is ice. This had the perfect amount of ice. It is rare that I ever have leftovers when I get pho, but both my husband and I ate our fill and still had plenty of food left to take home. I ate all my noodles and brought home the broth and meat. Pho Cali is definitely worth it for the price, and since all their dishes are one-size, you can expect to take leftovers home. I'm hoping that next time, the meat is not as tough, but we shall see. I'll gladly return to Pho Cali again if I'm in the Rocklin/Roseville area for my pho fix, and would recommend this place for those looking for some delicious broth. read more

We came back with friends and I can now say this is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in NorCal. In addition to the perfect chicken pho and delicious mama marinated grilled pork (nem nuong) spring rolls, their grilled pork banh mi sandwich? Divine. Top tier. Our friends also loved the stir fried egg noodles with beef (hu tieu xao bo). Unfortunately their BBH was a let down because it was way too sweet- looks like both their beef pho and BBH tend to lean that direction. Updating my review as it's been about 4 years and I am a frequent flyer of Pho Cali. It's my go-to for Pho in the Rocklin area and is a solid choice, though not incredible. I'd give it a 3.5 star overall. The food is pretty good, portions are large and it's reasonably priced. Service is always quick and it's easy to get a table. The place could be cleaner or nicer inside and the ingredient quality is lackluster. The atmosphere is the worst part about it, it's not somewhere I'd likely take my friends or family or go for a date. It's pretty boring/stark inside and somewhat on the dirtier side. In fact, the tables and chairs are always a little sticky every time we go. Wouldn't recommend bringing young children as I'd be worried about them touching everything or making a mess. Temperature inside can also be a bit warmer or colder than I'd like. The soup flavor is good, and I feel like it is always a well seasoned broth. Personally, I didn't think the meat quality is that great and can be chewy, but that's not totally unusual. Produce like the bean sprouts, basil, etc are also not typically super fresh though not gross either. The service was friendly enough and fairly quick. The wait was maybe about 10 minutes for our meals. The place is never really busy whatever time of day or day of the week. There are always a steady stream of to-go orders coming in for pick up. Despite my gripes, it's solid option for Pho in the Rocklin area and the food is honestly really tasty. Just don't come expecting a "nice" sit down meal spot or really high-end or super fresh ingredients. read more

Ambiance is welcoming but nothing classy with limited seating and a generous parking lot. Brightly lighted room. Clean enough. Fast & friendly servers. I ate the crispy fried calamari and a giant bowl of stir fry rice noodle with seafood. My dining companion ate the beef stew with egg noodle. Crispy calamari is just passable. Probably just pre-packaged, frozen. Yes, crunchy. Rubbery calamari rings inside. Served super-duper hot. Not much flavor. A small bowl of sweet syrupy not spicy chili sauce served on the side. For $10 there's about 9 calamari rings on the plate. My seafood chow fun noodle dish was quite healthy. Chock full of diced vegetables. Seasoned mildly. I used a small bowl of Sriracha on the side to occasionally dip some morsels. There's at least 3 pounds of food on the big dish. I can eat like a hungry hound all day. I surrendered after about eating 1/2 of the meal. Brought the rest home for tomorrow's lunch. Tasted my friend's beef stew. Broth is sweet, not spicy. Beef hunks are tender. All done this inexpensive meal for both of us, $41 before tip, was quite satisfactory. I plan to return for a bowl of pho. Note: There is no alcohol served. Your typical pho restaurant. Booths and fast service. Try their bun bo hue, they don't have everything in it that you would find in south sacramento but it works if you're craving it. The broth and won tons were unmatched to any I've had before. The portions are LARGE. I am excited for my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Our service was super fast and our server was soooo personable. The service is amazing . As soon as we sat down, we got our menus and were given ice water. Then when we were ready, our order was taken. I ordered a special request... Pho broth with just vermicelli and the fixings on the side. It was brought out exactly as I wanted! The Crispy shrimp rolls are AMAZING! Everything is so fresh and appealing!! Then the vermicelli and beef with veggies came out and it looked and tasted amazing. The Vietnamese pork roll sandwich was PHENOMENAL and we asked for some Peanut Sauce with it.. and we got a huge (perfect) portion fresh and warm. Omg with the sandwich, it was so tasty! One of my favorite I-80 corridor food stops! I always call my order in on the way, and it's ready within about 10-20 minutes. The Banh mi are my favorite; if you've got a sweet tooth, grab a dessert drink with jelly or boba. The strawberry hearts I got last time were adorable AND a delightful addition to my milk tea. Honestly, I haven't ventured the rest of the menu (because a Vietnamese sandwich is top notch for road trips) OR dined in; Pho Cali appears to have limited seating, but it gives the restaurant a family feel.
