Pad Thai and green chicken curry

Great service and super friendly staff! The portions are generous for the price, which I really appreciate. Just a heads-up that rice doesn't automatically come with the meal, so you'll need to order it separately. Overall, definitely worth trying!

We found this while we were in the area, and decided to check it out. It is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. The market has a good selection of stuff. They have a hot food section in the front too. However, my review is for the restaurant. You order at the restaurant in the back, and then pay at the front. They have tables in the back you can sit and eat too. We ordered Hmong sausage $10 and sticky rice $3, and a pad pra pow or something like that $12. Firstly, they did not look good, they looked sad actually. Secondly, the food was not good. Like how can you ruin Hmong sausages? It tasted dry, bland, and overcooked. the pepper sauce was very watery and bland. The pad kra pow was edible, but honestly i could whip up something better. Sadly, the only thing that was good was the sticky rice. Will not be returning. Waste of money on bad food.

What a hidden gem in yuba county. This place has everything and more. The employees are friendly and all the shelves are fully stocked. All the sauces and seasoning you can imagine. They even have a deli where you can order hot food. We just happened to stumble across this spot today but will be back to try the hot food!

Mama Ku maki the best Papaya Salad I have ever had. As good as the ones I had in Thailand.

This is my first time visiting this place. It is a wonderful mom and pops market that's been here some 1998! They sell just about everything you need to cook up a delicious Asian style meal. The best part is a bonus authentic Cambodian/Thai Food kitchen. In the back of the store that sells a variety of noodle soups, rice dishes, Thai curries, stir fry's, salads and wonderful appetizers. You can't find anything more authentic and delicious at a great price!! In the front of the store, a variety of ready made appetizers and other selections are available for anyone to grab if you're in a hurry to place orders for hot meals made to your requesting. I ordered the best papaya salad I have ever had, its authentic flavors brings me back to Thailand! Mama Ku uses traditional mortar and pestle to prepare the salad with fresh ingredients. She has you taste it to add more spices, salt, sour etc to get it just the way you like it before she plates it! She is so sweet. The rest of the staff/family are welcoming and very warm and friendly. I highly recommend you come and support this amazing family run business. Their prices are unbeatable, the food is delicious authentic specialties for a great value. My favorites are papaya salad, bun mi, spring rolls. Can't wait for my next visit to try the curries and phad Thai.

Still a treasure trove of anything you want to make as in Thai. Kitchen was closed for thanksgiving Saturday. Just prepared food as in banh mi, fried egg rolls, sandwiches, chicken leg with purple rice, etc.

    Yum yai Thai salad

Excellent food! This was my first experience with real Thai food and I loved it. I had the yum yai and sticky rice. I also got a delicious strawberry milk tea. The salad was spiiiicy and delicious. The rice was sticky as I suspected and good as well. This is a great, local Hmong-owned business in the area worth checking out and supporting. Very friendly people as well, which is what the name means too! The grocery store it's inside is awesome and full of great ethnic foods you can't always find elsewhere. I love this place. Will definitely be back!

Everything was so delicious. By far the best Asian cuisine in this area. It's a little restaurant in the back of the grocery store.

Tom Kha soup with chicken is amazing. Pad Thai, solid dish. Half the time we get it with chicken, the other half with tofu. Both are highly recommended. I like extra limes to add to the flavor. Papaya Salad, might be the best I have ever tasted. The Sunday Brunch at the Buddhist Temple in Berkeley might be slightly better, but I'll take Baanthai dish the other six days of the week. Yellow curry with Chicken is delightful and the potato and carrots are always properly cooked. Spicy eggplant with chicken is another favorite of mine. Eggplant is always cooked perfectly. Maybe it's my Asian background and being used to authentic Thai food, but the food just wasn't good. The boat noodles were missing that rich, dark, beefy broth they're known for. Instead, the broth tasted bland and lacked the deep, savory flavor that makes boat noodles so delicious. The Pad Thai barely had any sauce. You could clearly see the noodles were still almost clear instead of being coated. The little sauce it did have mostly tasted like sugar and salt. The curry was also disappointing. I didn't notice any Thai basil or the fresh herbs and flavors you'd normally expect. Overall, the food tasted more like Thai fusion than authentic Thai cuisine. The service wasn't great either. There were several employees standing around even though the restaurant wasn't busy, yet we still had to wait before anyone came over to ask if we'd been helped. Also, if you're planning a date night or just want to have a conversation, don't come on a Friday unless you call ahead to see if there's a live band. The music was so loud that we could barely hear each other. What surprised me most is that the location and atmosphere are actually really nice. The restaurant has a great setup, and the other side has more of a bar/lounge vibe that people would probably enjoy. Honestly, the atmosphere is much better than the food. If the food were even half as good as the location and ambiance, this place could be amazing. I'm especially disappointed because eating out is so expensive these days. I even tried taking the boat noodles home and adding hoisin sauce and boat noodle seasoning, but I couldn't save them. It still tasted bad. Total waste of money. Sadly, I won't be coming back.

Keep in mind that these aren't actually veins, but two inch long, thick and, tough digestive tracts that don't break without a noticeable effort. I expect shrimp to be relatively easy to eat, but in this case, I found the "veins" either wrapped around my tongue or firmly stuck between my teeth. These ongoing battles thoroughly ruined my meal. Having to fight them on one front, while wondering what the shrimp's last meal might've been on another front is more than I should have to contemplate while eating. The "research" I did before posting was simply to find out if it's generally good practice to "de-vein" shrimp before cooking them, and the overwhelming consensus is that, yes, de-vein them so as not to disgust your diners. Order at your own risk - there's almost nothing worse than a disappointing meal.
