What a fun place to stumble upon. I love that there's a place like out here. It's a family owned shop, everybody there is super friendly and so nice. There so many fun things to have here from fresh groceries, freezer items, canned, jarred and even special specialty. The have grab and go items hot and cold. And you still can order from their back kitchen. There's so many fun snacks there to choose from and there's a bunch of specialty item Asian things that you can get, which is very nice. This place is near Beale AFB, and have some good Thai food im the back of the supermarket. WhilebI did not really care for their meatball stick (the texture is more like sausage), their summer roll and pad thai are excellent. Green curry is good, but for $16 without rice is bit overpriced for not being at a restaurant. Overall, good experience but the food might take long time so best to call ahead. read more

The market itself is nice and has a great selection, but the restaurant in the back was a complete waste of money. We ordered five dishes (Pad Thai, fried rice, stir fry noodles, and chow mein -- all with chicken), and every single one was unpleasant. The chicken tasted off in all of the dishes, to the point where my daughter almost threw up after just a few bites. The Pad Thai had no flavor, even after adding lime and chili, and the fried rice and chow mein were just as bad. None of us could eat more than a few bites, and we ended up throwing everything away -- and we are not picky eaters. Spending $90 on food we couldn't eat was extremely disappointing. The staff was very kind, but the food itself was honestly unacceptable. If you choose to eat here, I recommend starting with just one dish before committing to a full order. read more

Went there a few months back expecting some good Thai food given the market it was. Ordered curry with my wife, don't remember the exact price but it was on the pricier side without the rice included, so that was an extra charge. Wife ordered some type of fried noodle. The curry was way too watery, and honestly lacked good flavor for me. My wife's noodles were way too oily and that was all you could taste. We found this while we were in the area, and decided to check it out. It is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. The market has a good selection of stuff. They have a hot food section in the front too. However, my review is for the restaurant. You order at the restaurant in the back, and then pay at the front. They have tables in the back you can sit and eat too. We ordered Hmong sausage $10 and sticky rice $3, and a pad pra pow or something like that $12. Firstly, they did not look good, they looked sad actually. Secondly, the food was not good. Like how can you ruin Hmong sausages? It tasted dry, bland, and overcooked. the pepper sauce was very watery and bland. The pad kra pow was edible, but honestly i could whip up something better. I love this little hole in the wall. They have so many asian little goodies that you can't always find in this area. I have not tried their hot food, to be honest i was to busy looking at all the stuff that i didn't even notice if they had hot food. Their freezer section is super messy and you can't really tell the prices you have to ask which that i don't like cuz i'm anal but as for them having a pretty good selection of stuff they do and the people are super nice but they let you shop in peace. The aisles are fairly tight but its because of the selection...u get one thing and they have a huge amount of choices like soy sauce might have 20 different brands and sizes and the noodles there are tons to choose from. I like it. I seen another review saying they ordered five dishes from the kitchen...i wouldn't think that a place that size could make 5 cooked dishes all at one time...i think its more for like single meals at one time...i think it is just one lady back there and one person doing stock and cashier so to expect fully cooked 5 meals in a reasonable amount of time i would think that is a lot to do especially since most asian meals are pretty different so you have to cook so many different things at one time...i would think it was for a quick stop for like a couple or single person but not a huge family. Tried a few items out of deli area, bahn mi was not good, wrong bread and filling not very tasty/soggy. I have tried their spring rolls before, although they are good, the price has increased to the point I no longer buy them or any other premade food items. I have also ordered items from restaurant section before, edible but not very good, they seem to be their own interpretation of standard dishes. The older gentleman cashier seems disinterested borderline rude when asked questions about items in store. After my last visit, I left with a bad feeling, so will not return. read more

This is my first time visiting this place. It is a wonderful mom and pops market that's been here some 1998! They sell just about everything you need to cook up a delicious Asian style meal. The best part is a bonus authentic Cambodian/Thai Food kitchen. In the back of the store that sells a variety of noodle soups, rice dishes, Thai curries, stir fry's, salads and wonderful appetizers. You can't find anything more authentic and delicious at a great price!! In the front of the store, a variety of ready made appetizers and other selections are available for anyone to grab if you're in a hurry to place orders for hot meals made to your requesting. I ordered the best papaya salad I have ever had, its authentic flavors brings me back to Thailand! Mama Ku uses traditional mortar and pestle to prepare the salad with fresh ingredients. She has you taste it to add more spices, salt, sour etc to get it just the way you like it before she plates it! She is so sweet. The rest of the staff/family are welcoming and very warm and friendly. I highly recommend you come and support this amazing family run business. Excellent food! This was my first experience with real Thai food and I loved it. I had the yum yai and sticky rice. I also got a delicious strawberry milk tea. The salad was spiiiicy and delicious. The rice was sticky as I suspected and good as well. This is a great, local Hmong-owned business in the area worth checking out and supporting. Very friendly people as well, which is what the name means too! The grocery store it's inside is awesome and full of great ethnic foods you can't always find elsewhere. I love this place. N he end up giving my dad the money back, n as of today I went there I purchase 9 items n it came out to be $54 n I was shock cause I know those items did not came out to be that much, so I check the receipt n he charge me for 15 items, when I only have 9items. As me n my brother was taking bout this outside the store he over heard it n came out n said he wanna ring us again n that he might make a mistake. I called 30 mins to place my order for pick-up and when I arrived they have not started making any of my others. It's a shame that the person that received my call does not communicate well with the people in their kitchen. I had to wait more than 20mins for my order and they're just Bahn Mi and chicken pad thai. Truly they're not that difficult but they said it's "specialty food" and it will take longer than expected. Located in a shopping plaza within 1 minute from the freeway, Phooj Lee's Market is combination grocery store and restaurant, serving popular Asian cuisine. The grocery section occupies the vast majority of the establishment, with 10% of the interior dedicated to seating for the restaurant. Their menu offered curry dishes, pho soups, and rice plates. On this visit, I ordered a beef pho soup for dine in, as well as a pad thai for take out. The pho was heart warming, with a definite beef depth in flavor. The beef slices were quality and hearty, and the portion was just perfect. You will be hard pressed to find a better pho in this area. The pad thai turned out to be very tasty. It had plenty of peanuts, chicken and noodles, enough to satisfy any hunger. There were a couple negatives however: There was only 1 condiment station visibly available, and i had to snag one from an uncleaned table. The tray itself was dirty. Also, a side plate was never offered to mix hoisin sauce and hot sauce with. I ended up pouring a little on my spoon whenever i needed a kick. Finally, in my pho soup, i was surprised to find 3 shrimp within the dish. For anyone with seafood allergies, take notice and be careful. I was not made aware of this at all, and it is not posted anywhere either. Overall, the food tasted amazing and the pricing was very very fair, at 6.50 per plate. I will definitely return to sample more of their menu items. The restaurant is a hole in the wall, and as other yelpers have pointed out, it is a very good one indeed. read more

My family and I are were visiting Nevada City & the Yuba River for a short vacation. A friend told us about this place, so on our way to the Sacramento Airport, we took a detour to Marysville to pick up dinner before our flight. The ride to Marysville was long and felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, but boy, was it worth it!!! My husband ordered the rice dish Pad Ka Praw with pork. It was PHENOMENAL!!!! So savory & flavorful. The rice had an amazing texture, both chewy and a little crispy. The fried egg on top was a delicious final touch. You have the option of pork, shrimp, chicken, tofu, etc. I ordered the mild yellow curry (Gang Karee) with tofu, which was really flavorful and had a little heat to it. I ordered it w/ the sticky rice, which is a gorgeous purple. My only (minor) complaint is that the curry could have used a few more vegetables. It had mostly potatoes, onion, and just a few pieces of bell pepper. I asked them to add carrot, which they did. It would have been perfect with some string beans or broccoli. Our daughter had the Pad Thai with chicken, which was delicious and typical of what you'd find at a good Thai restaurant. Hands down, the Pad Ka Praw was the best and most unique among our dishes. The market is fun to explore and sells everything from Asian groceries to traditional funeral offerings to foreign language DVDs. A friend of mine told me about this place, said he and his co-workers go two or three times a week.... And now I see why! This place has the BEST FOOD! It doesn't look like much from the outside. A small neighborhood Asian grocery market, But in the back is where the magic happens! It's not a huge menu, but I haven't had a single thing that wasn't delicious and cooked with pride and skill! I say that because you can tell the people who cook actually care about what they're doing. Pluses - chow mien is wonderfully seared and fried. Tons of veggies and chicken. Stir fry Rice is the same thing, perfectly cooked! Curry is delicious! Pad Thai amazing and spicy! Egg rolls and shrimp, crispy and delicious! Everything is super affordable, not overpriced at all! Minuses - it's a small crew - only a couple people cooking at once. Because of this, walk-ins take awhile to get your food. But I promise.... It's worth the wait! Definitely check this place out!
