This is very good Chinese food. Probably the best in the area. I've been eating here for over 25 years, it's a very old restaurant it's probably been here since the gold rush and the founding of Marysville. I drive all the way from Sacramento to eat here and it's worth it. The building has a lot of character, the brick work is one of a kind. My mother used to frequent this place when she was a little girl with her family. Everything I order here is always fresh and tasty, the beef in the broccoli beef and Mongolian beef is very tender, the pork in the sweet and sour pork was crispy and tender. The fried rice is loaded with traditional veggies and tons of BBQ pork, the chow mein was very flavorful with a very savory flavor. I recommend a lunch special because you get a little of everything at a fair price, but they also have family dinners and individual entrees. I had lunch here the other day and I had the orange chicken and fried rice combo. The rice was very salty and literally tasted like it was cooked in a heavy amount of soy sauce. The orange chicken was, eh. I thought the hot and sour soup was ok. It was like something you'd find in a shopping mall, just wasn't restaurant appealing for me. Finally headed over to China Moon. Literally down the block from me, so very convenient! My husband ordered the Mongolian Beef and I had the Won Ton Soup. Both dishes were very good. Only item would be that the Mongolian beef was served with crispy won tons instead of rice but if that's my only issue it's a non-issue! Soup broth was flavorful and generous offering of won tons. They have officially made the return list for us. This is a bit of a hole in the wall kind of place but that just adds to the fun. I love these kind of places anyway. Came here for lunch on a Tuesday. No cars parked out front but it was packed inside! I ordered the broccoli beef lunch plate with pork chow mein and steamed rice. The portions were deceiving large for the entree. Usually they skimp on the entree and load you up with rice and chow mein. Not here. After I was done eating I still had enough for to go. I appreciate they did my veggies justice and didn't over cook them. The sauce was perfect and not overly salty. The chow mein was not out of this world, but better than Panda Express. I made a large ordered via DoorDash and checked after a hour of waiting by texting the driver who had also been waiting for 20 minutes when I called to check on a ETA and they advised it would be 20 more minutes! Okay, I admit that this place looks super sketchy from the outside, but don't judge a restaurant by its paint job. The moment I walked in, the delicious scent had my mouth watering. Everyone was friendly and the food was the best Chinese food I've had in YEARS. My husband and I spent a fun day in Oroville and Marysville. We have never been to either city but were part of a group touring the Oroville Chinese Temple, Bok Kai Temple and Museum and the Chinese American Museum of Northern CA. Between tours we had lunch for the first time at China Moon Cafe in Marysville. It seems to be a family run business. They nicely accommodated our group of 10. My husband is from Hong Kong, I grew up in the SF Bay Area and my husband's family now lives on Long Island so we have eaten at many different Chinese restaurants over the years. We were surprisely impressed overall by the quality of the food at China Moon. He had the beef chow fun while I had the lunch special of kung pao chicken. We also order the fried calamari. The portions are quite large especially for the lunch special. And for $8.95 it's quite a steal compared to Bay Area prices. The food was comparable to what we get at our local Chinese restaurant where we live. My husband said the chow fun was even better. The fried calamari appetizer wasn't quite up to the standards we are used to though. Plus it was pricey for the amount they give you. The service was very good and the staff was friendly. They were nice enough to write separate checks for our large group. In summary, I think China Moon is worth a try if you are in the mood for Chinese food in Marysville. read more

So I'm rating them with my asian taste bud Uh-huh... Mongolian beef: I wouldn't order it again. For some reason they have wonton chip strip in the dish and it like soggy. I was like what is this? The meat taste like it long overdue marinate. (My favorite spot for Mongolian beef is Eggroll king, Chico ca) Sweet and sour pork: it's a staple dish. It's should taste authentic. I didn't like it. I prefer panda express. Or I can make it better. General chicken: it's ok but I can make it better too. I m3an, we're hungry. I've been coming to this Chinese restaurant for years, but my recent visit left a bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn't the food. They've suddenly started enforcing a check ID policy, which is fine in theory, but they don't even compare the ID to the name on the order. What's the point? I could've handed over anyone's ID, and they wouldn't have known the difference. It felt like an unnecessary hassle with zero actual security. The food has always been decent, but this new policy shows a lack of common sense and customer care. If you're going to add extra steps to the process, at least make sure they're meaningful. I should've trusted the other reviews and wonder why the restaurant hasn't made any changes. People have been complaining since 2020 that the cheese tastes like "banana pudding" and "too sweet". Like, are they ordering cheesecake filling instead of cream cheese? We'd only get them again as a dessert. Egg rolls were just not as good as the spring rolls we get from Costco... Food is what you come for. Not the decor!!!! The restaurant is small, however the food is full of flavor and cooked to perfection. They have def been doing this for a while. The portions are big and we always have plenty of left overs. I usually always get the veggie egg foo-young which is delicious. After 4 1/2 years of searching for decent Chinese food here in Yuba City area, my husband finally found a GREAT restaurant. China Moon reminds me of the wonderful restaurants in the Bay Area. Since it was my first time eating Chinese food here, I ordered a variety of my usual choices. I loved the Shrimp Won Ton soup. The flavor of the broth was so delicious and the large shrimp were perfect. They made my Chicken Chow Fun especially for me, since I'm so picky (no cabbage, etc). HUGE portions!!! Then we had Beef Broccoli with steamed rice. Looked so delicious but after eating all my soup, 1/4 of the chow fun and 3 of the 6 Pot Stickers, I was so full, I couldn't eat any more food. But I know it will be yummy. So, I highly recommend this restaurant. If I had to make any criticism, I'd say the pot sticker wrapper was a little thick. But yummy all the same. Moved from Lincoln to Yuba County 2 years ago. Have been trying to find a decent Chinese Restaurant. Tried China Moon yesterday for take out based on all the positive YELP reviews. I wanted to like it...I had high expectations but totally disappointed as the flavor was off on every single dish. First, the Mushu Pork was WAY too soupy and salty. Had to strain it and it was overly salty. Salt shaker lid fall off? The Shrimp in the sweet and sour shrimp were decent in size but were flavorless. Most likely frozen; farm raised. The fried batter coating was the overwhelming taste. There were only 2 pineapple chunks and only 3 pieces of onion, green and red pepper. I counted them! Totally skimped! The broccoli beef was plain. Cooked perfectly and the beef very tender but just tasted like beef and broccoli. No spices at all; totally lacked ginger and garlic. The taste of the hot and sour soup was off too. It was missing the peppery; tangy sour taste. I could see a dish or too being off but every single one? The place was not super busy either. There was only 1 table with people eating. Pretty sad when you pay $70 for 5 items and the best thing you brought home is the Crab Rangoon appetizer! On balance, not far off though. Could be great with a little more attention to prep and care in the seasoning of the dishes. Suggestions: wild shrimp have more taste. Don't skimp on onions, pineapple, peppers, spices and seasoning! Don't over-salt!! Unacceptable. Still on my quest... For now, I will still have to make the drive to Lincoln Chinese or Red Lantern if I want consistently good Chinese food. read more

This little hidden gem was pretty darn good. I knocked off a star because they over charged me. I've done the math over and over again and they overcharged me by almost $20 and didn't give me a receipt. Our order: $97 2 chicken chow mein, 1 Mongolian beef, 1 Kung Pao chicken, 1 Kung Pao shrimp, 1 sweet & sour pork, 1 pork fried rice, 1 order of potstickers, 1 order of egg rolls All the food was amazing! It fed 5 of us twice and we're big eaters. The first day we ate half and the second day we polished it off. The potstickers are are super thick like nothing I've seen before. Don't let the outside appearance of this place keep you from going in. It looks like it could have been an old bar at some point and it was hard to tell if it was open. We were immediately greeted and ate in an open room next to the main eating area. Angie, our waitress, brought the menues along with a bowl of delicious Hot and Sour Soup. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, thinking it would be a good healthy alternative. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with white rice. The food portions are massive. We had enough for 3 days of leftovers. Each of our dishes were delicious. I was disappointed that my shrimp was battered and fried. I had thought I was getting fresh shrimp. I only ate one of the shrimp and it was very good. The only reason we gave them 4 stars was that the floor in the room where we ate was absolutely filthy.
