"pho"

Maybe I came with the wrong expectations. For a place called pho Noodle House I was expecting more of a Vietnamese pho rather than a Thai or Lao take on the dish. Regardless of the style of the pho, something that really bugged me was how dry and hard to chew the cuts of beef were. I found myself just eating it just to finish the meal and didn't really enjoy the experience. The broth didn't taste like what I would expect pho to taste it didn't have the same herbal profile of Vietnamese pho. It tasted more like a Teochew style seafood noodle soup. Also no basil, mint, or extra cilantro on the side. I might come back but will probably try the Thai/Lao dishes instead next.

My partner and I thought the service was attentive. Ambiance was chill, loved the genuine Thai decor! The chicken pad thai and red chicken curry need more spice/flavors, couldn't taste much. However chicken satay and coconut shrimp was good

Why would you burn the food-see that it was burnt and serve and package this for a paying customer?

#34 Chow Mein ... very tasty
Chuck M.

As others have said, the atmosphere inside suggests Thai. I was expecting Vietnamese given the restaurants name. Not overly large dining area with plenty seating. I was greeted promptly upon entering, seated and given a menu. It was surprising to see all the many items on their menu...appetizers, salads, pho/noodle soups, pan-fried noodle entrees, rice dishes, chefs specials. I ordered two dishes, their Chow Mein, and the chicken soup. I wasn't expecting the huge bowl that was brought out. Like with a Pho it is the broth that makes the soup a success. The broth was exceptional, the chicken was plentiful, and a ton of noodles. The 2nd dish I ordered, Chow Mein was very tasty. So good that I ate this entree first, not leaving much room to eat all the soup. This is a family owned restaurant, very comfortable and very tasty food. I'll come back again...!!!

I was greeted shortly after walking in, shown to a table and served shortly after sitting. Great customer service, Ordered the Chicken & Mixed Vegetables Rice dish, Hose Special Pho, Egg roll's appetizer, Yellow Curry and a Thai Iced Tea Egg rolls: looking at the peanut sauce I was a little worried, and while it wasn't exactly the peanut sauce flavor I was expecting, it was still a very good flavored sauce. Egg rolls also very well made, a lot of flavor and a nice crunch to the outside Pho: very flavorful - fairly large bowl of Pho. Add some hoisin sauce and a little sriracha and you're set. Mixed veggie chicken: Again, very flavorful, was not disappointed. Yellow Curry: while the flavor was there, and the flavor was good - the curry sauce tasted almost watered down(?) - it wasn't as bold as I hoped for. Still good, but probably wouldn't get it again. Thai Iced Tea: One of the better Thai Iced Teas I've had, like a solid 8.7 out of 10. What would it take for me to come back: As of right now this is one of my favorite spots in town, will definitely be making it a point to come back here when I'm in town and already planning on making one trip back some time before I leave Oroville.

No, ambience, just noodles and soup. Noisy and uncomfortable seating parking is a hassle.

Visited May 21 2026. See my receipt as always…read more This is a newer restaurant in Oroville. It used to be The Patio restaurant until it closed it's doors a few years ago. They have done a good job on the remodel ! It's located across and towards the back of where Dennys used to be ( btw. Dennys is closed permanently). I ordered the chicken pho and the combination plate. The pho broth was tasty and the amount they give you is budget friendly! Plenty of chicken in the soup! The combination plate consisted of chicken and beef with pork and shrimp with their rice. SO much food! The beef was tender..chicken was nice and tender and shrimp was tasty. Rice was excellent! Love the extra Seasonings on the side! It's going to be a hit in Oroville because they have fresh food with reasonable prices! They also serve beer and wine. They have outdoor seating but it's not set up yet to eat outdoors. Very large inside with a casual flair. Great experience! Will definitely be back to try another dish! Ps. Thank you LISA for excellent service! So sweet and attentive !

Quiet instrumental-type music was playing during our visit. "Best papaya salad ever!" says my husband -- and we eat a lot of papaya. We had ordered 2 combo papaya salads for dine-in, and then promptly ordered 3 spicy and 1 mild to take to my cousin's afterwards. The pho broth was top notch, as well as the khao poon. The khao poon is customizable and you can add quail eggs, pork blood, etc. The tricolor dessert drink / navaam was also really good with a fun selection of jellies. Definitely worth the stop if you love Hmong / Lao / Southeast Asian cuisine.

I have not tried their hot food, to be honest i was to busy looking at all the stuff that i didn't even notice if they had hot food. Their freezer section is super messy and you can't really tell the prices you have to ask which that i don't like cuz i'm anal but as for them having a pretty good selection of stuff they do and the people are super nice but they let you shop in peace. The aisles are fairly tight but its because of the selection...u get one thing and they have a huge amount of choices like soy sauce might have 20 different brands and sizes and the noodles there are tons to choose from. I like it. I seen another review saying they ordered five dishes from the kitchen...i wouldn't think that a place that size could make 5 cooked dishes all at one time...i think its more for like single meals at one time...i think it is just one lady back there and one person doing stock and cashier so to expect fully cooked 5 meals in a reasonable amount of time i would think that is a lot to do especially since most asian meals are pretty different so you have to cook so many different things at one time...i would think it was for a quick stop for like a couple or single person but not a huge family. But all in all its a nice little shop for when you need some asian staples.

That's also Asian household goods as well. It's always fun to find the new items there.

Tom Kha soup with chicken is amazing. Pad Thai, solid dish. Half the time we get it with chicken, the other half with tofu. Both are highly recommended. I like extra limes to add to the flavor. Papaya Salad, might be the best I have ever tasted. The Sunday Brunch at the Buddhist Temple in Berkeley might be slightly better, but I'll take Baanthai dish the other six days of the week. Yellow curry with Chicken is delightful and the potato and carrots are always properly cooked. Spicy eggplant with chicken is another favorite of mine. Eggplant is always cooked perfectly.
