This spot very recently opened up and with many other new restaurants there are problems that will hopefully work themselves out to avoid a possible downfall in the establishment. I will go any distance for Pho and luckily this only a 5 minute walk from my apartment. There are many reasons to go here, but what peaked my interest on a rainy day was watching a group of people eating pho and drinking bubble tea. I was hooked since then to come in and give this place a shot. The actual place itself is relatively small but they offer many great seating options to compensate the size. We were greeted by a smiley hostess/front desk lady and taken to our seats. Around this time there were probably about 3 other groups dining. It did take about 15 minutes to receive our waters but it appeared that there was only one waiter in the whole establishment running around which explained the slow service to follow the rest of the dinner. The menu is probably their biggest pho-pas (get it, because it's pho...) There is nothing worse than getting completely overwhelmed at a restaurant with the contents of the menu. I counted 150 different dishes. That is right, one hundred and fifty dishes. Even half of that would be too many. I appreciate a restaurant that wants to offer variety but this is what we call overdoing it. I also cannot imagine how this will be a profitable option for the restaurant if they have to order so many different types of food for them just to go bad within a week. A large menu in my opinion is too overwhelming for the patron and it can be a huge turn off. It shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to decide what you want but that is not enough time to even read this menu. As for the food, I got the dac biet and a coconut bubble tea. Dac biet is sort of my go to at most pho places and they did not disappoint. It was everything I expected it to be and more. I will definitely be going back as I really enjoyed my pho and I want to check out the rest of the items. However, that may take years! read more

I loved this place's food. I would order Online as I traveled home on the T and pick it up once getting off at my stop. Beautiful combination of taste. The duck soup was one of my favorites. Regarding delivery, I was not pleased with the delivery service once they stopped delivering. Whichever delivery service they transferred to was horrible! I got the #42, it's a spicy beef soup that is suppose to have flank in it. Ordering was not easy because there's no real menu online that I could easily find. The girl answering the phone was really nice so that's why I gave them 2 stars. But the soup was so disappointing, all beef fat and the tiny actual cubes of beef were about 3 in the whole thing and tough to chew. The noodles were the thick ones and they were a little bit on the hard side but I'm usually not a fan of the thick ones anyways. Recently new spot so we stop by to give it a shot. Walked in and looks decently packed at dinner time. It seems like they are swamped with orders and trying hard to maintain their composure. We ordered the pho dat biet (special beef noodle soup) and the pork chop with rice and egg on top. The pho bowl didn't come out hot enough and the meatballs had no taste, also mushy , not enough rare beef. The pork chop came out with a big plate but meat is not that tender and to be marinated good enough . The menu are too extensive with too many items consist of Vietnamese , Thailand and Korean . I wish they concentrate more on Vietnamese food only since it's a Vietnamese name restaurant. Restaurants that fused with other ethic food and not concentrate on their originality always fail. I am obsessed with this place, the crab Rangoon are the absolute best I have ever had, they have such a hold on me. Usually crab Rangoon are all the same and I don't really like them, but these ones are actually different, and they're just amazing. I really wanted to like Pho 1 Brighton. We live so close and it's one of the few Vietnamese restaurants we can easily go to, but we won't be going back. I ordered banh mi and it didn't come with pate. I thought that was just a mistake and didn't care much about it. The second time I went, still no. I thought whatever. By the third time I ordered, I knew there was something wrong. Their menu said their banh mi comes with pate and frankly it's my favorite. Since I did a pick up I called them and it turns out they didn't even know what pate is. I told them it was listed on their menu as an ingredient and they were genuinely confused about it. It's pretty well known that liver is a core ingredient of banh mi. I gave them another chance and decided to stop ordering banh mi and get pho there since they're a pho shop anyways. Three things to describe my experience? Quick service, safe pickup, loads of food! On a grocery-less evening, I ordered myself some takeout from Pho 1 Brighton. The order was ready before I even arrived, packaged up, and positioned on a table right by the door. I didn't have to interact with anyone for pickup so it felt very safe during the pandemic. I placed a pretty late order via Uber Eats. I thought it would be a gamble because of the giant menu. I know a wide menu excites most people, but the fact that Pho 1 offered Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, and Korean, made me wonder if they had a specialty. I ended up ordering the beef satay, thit lui (beef skewers), pho sate, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The beef was very average, nothing special, but I really enjoyed their pho sate. It had a great spice to it although it wasn't very oily! It's a classic pho dish that I'm quite picky about, so the fact that I enjoyed the broth was a big deal to me. But the reason I am only giving this restaurant 2 stars is because my cilantro and watercress was old and gross. Seriously, I got some black cilantro! They cut and packaged it, so I knew they had to be aware. It is a giant red flag in my books because it makes me skeptical of their quality control in general. The Vietnamese coffee was strong in the sense it didn't contain much condensed milk, but it tasted more like a Thai coffee to me. Needed more coffee beans! Overall, I am willing to come back if I am really hungry.. their hot chili oil and pho sate were really tasty, but it's probably best to go earlier in the day when they have fresher ingredients. Located right next to Yamato's, on the Chiswick t stop is a fairly small restaurant called Pho 1 Brighton. I've been here for various family celebrations and the staff is always very accommodating and the food is great. The hardest part about eating here is deciding what to get! Despite the menu only being a page front and back, there are so many options from pho to thai to korean food. My family has ordered the fried chicken and fries almost every time we've been since the fries are always really crispy. I've had different types of pho and bun which all have been good choices. Most recently, I ordered pho with clear noodles and it had a very hearty clear broth to it. My two friends and I visited your restaurant, and the food was great. However, we had an issue with your waitress. She added a 15% tip to our bill without asking us, and when we politely asked her about it, she replied rudely and condescendingly. She told us students at least leave a 15% tip or more. We were taken aback by her tone and demeanor towards us. As we were getting ready to leave, she demanded a tip of 10% from us. It was an unusual request that made us uncomfortable, but we paid it to avoid further conflict. Only later did we realize we had been overcharged for the service we received. Additionally, the waitress informed us that she does not receive payment from the restaurant owner and relies solely on tips to make a living. This revelation concerned us, and we would appreciate clarification from management regarding the employment practices at Pho restaurant. We hope all employees are fairly compensated for their hard work and dedication to providing quality service. Upon further reflection, it would have been more appropriate for her to ask us if we wanted to add a tip to our bill instead of doing it without our consent. Well pho me sideways and call me a bad bo hue -- this place ain't too bad, unlike my puns. Fair warning, this menu is huge with tiny text. I suggest looking at the photos on this venue's Yelp page first to get a little inspiration. We ordered: Dac Biet (Pho with flank, rare steak, meatballs, tripe) and the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef broth with braised beef chunks) -- Either are perfect to warm you up through this Boston winter! Both were pretty flavorful and filling for myself and my date. I wished the Bun Bo Hue came with a few more varieties of meats (i.e. Vietnamese bologna, meatballs, etc). The mint leaves were pretty fresh as well. Loved that it was pretty affordable too! My one gripe is that my bowl came out much later than my date's did. I love this place. Their Banh Mi-s are INCREDIBLE. They marinate the meat just right. The pork is definitely better than the beef but hey, I wouldn't turn down either. I live nearby, and Pho 1 has been a rare bright spot in the other wise dull Asian food scene in Boston. Their Dac Bien is everything I expected to be, and I've been all across Vietnam for street food. This is close to what I had in Hanoi, sans the broth, which could be thicker. The Moo Yang: a fire grilled pork skewer with Thai herbs, is also worth the price of entry. Smoky, sweet, great flavour. I enjoyed this a lot. Much of the Vietnamese food here is clearly made by someone who is trying to make things as authentic as possible, and I appreciate it. The pricing is also palatable, and I am motivated to return for takeout regularly. If you notice, a lot of non-Asian reviewers gave this place a lower score. We ordered the salt & pepper calamari, rice combination plate, and pho double fried wings. The S&S calamari was absolutely delicious. Full of flavor in each and every bite. Not too salty. The rice combination plate was also good. It's a big serving portion. It comes with grilled shrimp, pork chop, 2 thin slices of Vietnamese pork patties, shredded pork and a fried egg. The pork chop lacked in flavor but everything else tasted good. The pho 1 double fried wings were really crunchy and big! The hot a** is very spicy. It will definitely burn your tongue and have your nose running. The garlic wings are good, very flavorful with a touch of garlic taste. Might be up in the same level as bon chon and crave. Overall experience, parking might be challenging, great customer service, fair price, menu has Vietnamese, Thai and Korean food. I ordered takeout and had the double fried garlic wings and the green curry with beef. The wings are a little overly battered for me and weren't as flavorful as I would have liked. But I was really pleasantly surprised with my green curry. The curry was thick and flavorful and i got a generous portion. I like this place a lot. I have gotten take out from them maybe 4 times since they opened. The food is always good and the delivery driver is always early and always pleasant. This new joint is just across the street from our apartment and it was an easy choice for dinner on days we did not want to cook. The first time I ordered was vermicelli with grilled pork, shrimps and fried spring roll. Portion was just nice ( would say that its smaller than I've expected because I usually have left over for food ) and the grilled pork was well marinated and grilled to perfection. One qualm was that the vegetables were not exactly Vietnamese as I was given cabbage instead of the usual herbs. Overall I would give it a 4/5. The second time we took away grilled skewered pork and the rice paper roll with beef. We were given 7 dried rice sheets and a separate box of ingredients ( beef, fried spring rolls, shrimps, shrimps paste ) and we are to soak the sheets and wrap it with the ingredients. It was fun to put together your own rice rolls and dip them in the sweet fish sauce they provided. We also tried the pho with crab Rangoon on the side on a slow Monday night . Wasn't very impressed with the soup stock and felt that it was lacking the herbs taste. Noodles were cooked ok but the soup was a tad cold. Wouldn't order this again. The menu list is intensive and I feel that they should just focus on Vietnamese cuisine since they are called Pho. Too much eggs in the basket. My boyfriend and I ate dinner here a few days ago and we still can't stop talking about it the staff is friendly, the location is warm and inviting and the food + value is unbeatable. Their menu is huge and has so many great options especially if you have any diet restrictions or are vegan/vegetarian. We plan on coming here more often because he can't forget his fried chicken wings and I can't stop thinking about their yellow curry. Underneath that there's the lighter, sweeter aromatics - lemongrass, scallions, and cilantro. The fish itself is crispy on the outside and oily on the inside, adding the umami taste. Finally, you're left with a mild spice from the chili paste that tingles your tastebuds just the right amount. My only regret was that my stomach was too small to fit a second plate.
