I really wanted to like this place. It's been many years since I've been here. While walking up to this location, I was reminiscing how rude the staff was with the silverware noise right behind your head, crazy loud, echoing high pitched noise that disrupts any atmosphere of peace or harmony. First thing when I walked in the door, that's what I heard. I should've turned around and walked out right there. The hummus was without flavor, but I'm used to fresh robust flavors in my authentic hummus. The pita was clearly left on the counter without being covered and so it was chewy, stale, reminiscent of a dog eating a rawhide and not edible. Hard pass. Even though our server was very pleasant, there was extreme inconsistencies coming from the kitchen that could not be resolved. With the owner sitting at the front table and the daughter at the front desk, there was clearly a sense of tenseness throughout the establishment. After being in the Mediterranean myself, this is not a Mediterranean restaurant and it confuses me for it to say Mexican on the menu. I'll try back in another eight years. read more

Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Mike waited on us and had us laughing our entire meal. We always love coming here whether it's for lunch or dinner. Ordering a Lebanese tea is a must! Their soups are always delicious. The kibbeh and sambousek are our go to appetizers or even sometimes a light lunch meal. My husband loves their shawarma sandwiches and I have honestly never ha d a bad meal no matter what I order. I was sadly disappointed in our visit tonight. This was our first time dining at the new location and it was a let down. The pita was chewy and inedible. The Caesar salad was bland and soggy. Starting off with the food. My party ordered the chicken shawarma, coconut shrimp, Mediterranean shrimp, Greek salad, baba ganoush, and meat pies. 4 of the 6 orders were fantastic! Chicken Shawarma was extremely good and a 10/10 comfort food even though it wasn't a traditional shawarma it was the winner of all for flavor. Order extra sauce for $1 your rice will thank you. Coconut shrimp were exactly what you hope for in Coconut shrimp but I would recommend ordering these as an appetizer with extra marmalade. Mediterranean Shrimp- I would not recommend, mainly because the shrimp themselves were bad. The sauce was a unique strawberry, mango, kiwi situation that was quite lovely. Adding it was $29.00 for 7 medium bad shrimp and a pile of rice, definitely not a good value. Not even a veggie served with it. Meat pie was super average. They were tiny, dry and not served with a sauce, just a little pico de gallo. Definitely skip these unless you like dry average meat pies. Baba ganoush was a great flavorful choice good for sharing. Greek salads were heavily dressed and quite enjoyable. Now for the whole reason for my review. We were here celebrating my mom with a birthday lunch and the server completely ruined it. I think it's important for the owners to know who it was because this lady is bringing your restaurant down. She was about 50, small/medium build, frazzled looking, acted like she was completely aggravated to have a table and started by slinging waters at us. Splashing water several times all of the table. The only way to really describe her is bull in a china shop. After she walked away we all said she looks like and acts like a drug addict who needs her next hit. After the initial bad first impression we were served sodas and the flavor was bad. We told her and she acted like we were complaining toddlers. The Phoenicia is a very pretentious restaurant that looks to only cater to the elite just based on their menu prices. Lunch prices for a chicken dish of $29.95 are a slight to the non-elite of the Gulf Coast. They obviously don't want "riff raff" in their restaurant. We don't mind paying for good food at lunch, but we do have limits. There are plenty of high-end restaurants that welcome all patrons. He offered to make a run to the liquor store since it was byob but was disappointed with his tip--over 20% of the food cost but he was not tipped on the added fees and tax. I also thought the place was crammed with too many tables, especially in these pandemic times. My chair hit the back of the chair behind me when I got up from the table, and that's just too close. I thought the service was good. Lots of wait staff kept our drinks filled. Our waitress admitted it was her first night and she brought out our appetizers along with our meal, which wasn't ideal, but forgivable. We ordered two appetizers just to try them - the grape leaves and the sambousek - and you get 4 bitesize pieces for about $7-8. Our meals were also good, but come primarily with a giant pile of rice and a small pile of meat, a dab of hummus, and some relish. It was tasty and cooked well, but I expected more for the price. I had beef kabobs and my wife had chicken shawarma, and each dish was @ $16-18. Overall, I still enjoyed my experience there.
