Oh I wanted to love this so bad. I've had very very good middle eastern food and this just wasn't hitting. Everything seemed to lack seasoning except the chicken sajji, but it took forever to come out. Besides the chicken I had lamb shawarma, tabouli, hummus, and rice. The lamb really seemed to have no seasoning at all on it, and tasted similar to previously frozen, boiled meat. It was served with a side of tahini that had the consistency of skim milk and tasted like water. I'm actually not certain it was tahini the more I think about it. Rice was ok and tabouli was actually the most flavorful thing we ordered. Hummus lacked a lot of flavor. Prices were not reasonable either. If I'm being honest, I think that they're in a pickle and skimping customers on ingredients by making things stretch (hence the water tahini mixture) and highly inflated prices. read more

The food is incredible and large portions. I love the Shish Tawook wrap. The chicken in the wrap is charred to perfection and coated in To.um ( Lebanese Garlic Sauce) is beyond fantastic. I love there food. The rice was exquisite. We highly recommend it. My husband loves the David Basha plate. read more

Ok, this is a must for everyone who loves flavor My palette was craving these Mediterranean spices and didn't even know it. Don't judge the place by its cover. We went in at odd hours and nobody was in there. The waiter who greeted us was a little abrupt but the owner came in and made up for it ten fold. He brought us a couple of samples and they were all delicious. This is not a hip trendy place but please don't let that hold you back from going on a food tour on the other side of the world. Sorry, I just get real hyped when I find new exciting flavors. Next time I'm ordering the Shish Tawook because it was SO GOOD! My meal was delicious. Chicken was full of flavor and tender. I absolutely LOVE the rice. Light and airy with a warm spice that is unknown to me. Chili is super spicy! Lentil soup was really good but for those who love pepper. Hummus was great and the olive oil just made it perfect. And he brought us some hot tea at the end that was really good and sweet, but not too sweet. Go check it out! read more

Service was friendly. Ordered the Lamb Shawarma Plate. The lamb was extremely tough and cooked overly well done. The taste of the lamb was not good, very tart and not seasoned well. The rice was not good at all. They also put some sort of milky white liquid in a cup that tasted god awful. I assumed it was a type of salad dressing. Hummus was not included in the plate either. Great place to get mediterrean food! Wonderful service and huge menu. Our entrees included pita bread with amazing garlic hummus. The entrees came with a salad or soup and a choice of fries or rice which all looked amazing. Great portion sizes for the price. The chicken was tender but could be more juciy. We have been here a few times now and it is fantastic. The garlic sauce is awesome! The Shish Tawook is some of the best chicken you will ever eat. The lamb chops are magically tender and tasty. The lamb ghallaba is outstanding. The Shish kofta is yummy. Don't sleep on the soups, the crushed lentil is amazing especially with some lemon and the lamb chili is so comforting great for those colder nights that should be upon us by now but aren't. Seriously folks you got to get into Al Shish Kebab and taste this food. I prefer Al Shish over Petra's, as the later is specifically Greek just like their portion size. I ordered the lamb shawarma combo with salad and fries. The shawarma was moist, seasoned well and not dry like most Mediterranean restaurants. Salad was Mediterranean style, different but good. This restaurant is located tucked away in the corner of a lot, with a beautiful front patio. The inside is clean and inviting. I was seated quickly and after placing my order, the wait time wasn't bad at all. I had the Ghalaba and the dish was amazing. The food was amazing, one of the guys said they didnt have anymore lamb chops, but they let us know, and offered us other choices, the food didnt take long, and it was amazing, fries, rice, meat, vegetables and drinks, service was good, checking up on us. This is my new favorite spot in Oak Grove and also in Hattiesburg in general. They actually make you fresh food while you wait! I got mine to go, but you can also dine in for lunch and dinner. They have a fantastic menu. I get hooked on one thing and keep coming back for more. I love Chicken Shawarma! This is the meat that is grilled on a giant spit standing upright with herbs and spices (not spicy hot just good flavors). You have a number of options for your sides. These grilled vegatbles look plain but they are not. They are fresh and perfectly chargrilled, my favorite! They taste so fresh and good. The pita bread with the garlic dipping sauce is heavenly. I could seriously put that garlic sauce on anything and eat it. It is the best garlic sauce I have ever had anywhere in the world, and I have eaten literally all over the world. The sandwhich is perfect. Just so, so good and i have come by and ordered it a la carte, but I especially loved it like this with all of the sides. The lentil soup is fantastic. I have not had lentil soup spiced this way before. So different to me! I also ordered an a la carte Falafel Wrap, just to try something new. Oh my goodness, what have I been missing? It is fantatic! You noticed I don't have a picture to show you? Yeah. Well, it didn't make it home, let's just say. I have never had a falafel anything that was not greasy, this sandwhich is not greasy at all. It was fresh and good and I recommend you get the special one that comes with the sauce and tabouleh inside. This makes it wonderful! Im getting another one next time! You have to try this place! I am goad they also have vegetarian options. There are so many bad chain restaurants in Hattiesburg, and in the South in general. Do you realize if you eat in chain restaurants, you are eating processed gross food from a vat and from plastic bags they squeeze into a pan and heat up? Well, at Al Sheesh Kabb, this is the real deal. Real vegetables, hone made soups of many kinds, homemade fresh salads, freshly grilled meats and shawarma, shawarma, shawarma, and don't forget the kabob!
