    # 11 Chicken Shawarma Platter with rice, hummus and garlic sauce
    Katie S.

We are repeat customers here and for good reason... it's amazing! We have only dined in once and all other times did take out. In my book if your take out is amazing after a several mile drive that speaks volumes! Every time we get home with the food it's still hot and fresh. Their Greek fries may be the best I have ever had. My kids agree! Loaded with sauce and feta. Oh man! So good! The platter is generous and we share that with the fries to have a plentiful meal, even having leftovers! The staff is friendly every time. This place is usually packed when we come for our food which is a great sign. We will keep this one on rotation.

Pro-tip: Don't get the fries. You get way more meat getting a mix combo than the chicken kebab plate. Highlights: The restaurant interior is really cute and the customer service is great. My husband really liked the gyro meat - it was well portioned and flavorful. They have a very large menu and I would be interested in ordering something atypical that you get at other Greek counter Service chains. Lowlights: Really disappointed in their fries - they aren't crispy or satisfying. The regular pita is rock hard or you have to pay extra for their homemade one. The chicken shawarma was so greasy which I didn't even think was possible for chicken shawarma. For the plate meals, you only get two sides.

Our neighbors recently introduced us to Phoenicia Cafe, and it has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants!! The space itself is small, but there is a variety of seating inside, as well as a few small tables outside. Service has been excellent both times we have dined in. We started with the hummus and pita for an appetizer - it's so yummy!! We usually end up taking some home with us. The small portion is definitely enough for 2-4 people. For this trip, we dined in on a Saturday evening. My husband and I split the Greek fries - gyro meat, fries, onions, tomatoes, feta, and tzatziki. They are AMAZING. We love them. It was plenty of enough food for us to split. We did, of course, buy some baklava for us to take home too!! I'm not sure if I'll try something new on the menu next time we come in, or if I'll stick with the Greek fries because of how much I love them!!

Visited this place last year... and completely forgot about the name. The service is amazing! Ambience is fun and food is just outstanding. We got done from the gym and wanted to have protein rich food. Given this is closer to the gym , we recalled how amazing the last experience was and visited it again! They now have fresh juices made in house which is PERFECT! The Lebene and hummus are just spot on and so was the speciality dish - Quizi. The meat of the lamb shank was perfect tender and juicy and fell off the bone leaving a mother watering moment! The lebene and lamb stole the show! Don't forget to try their speciality grape soda for that flavor enhancement! The juice took us by surprise and was perfect for after gym meal! I will def look forward to visiting here more!

Phoenicia derived from: The name Phoenicia comes from the Greek word phoinix, which may have referred to the color purple-red or to the Phoenicians' production of a highly valued purple dye. I walked in and was promptly greeted, to-go, go to the counter. If you're eating there, just pick up a table. Everyone was happy, excited, and most importantly, welcoming! Great start! When you walk in, it's a small spot, clean with about 15 tables. Sylvia and her husband run Phoenicia Cafe small little spot for 20 years! Did you know that? They are nailing the Mediterranean flavor profile! They just added a Pita machine to make them fresh! Using a Mediterranean spice, I believe it is called Za'arta (I could be worng) on one Pita sample, and the other one was Pita with cheesy deliciousness on top. I went with the beef shawarma and did not disappoint in any way, shape, or form! In-house made beef, marinated just right, house made hummus, house made Pita bread, lettuce, tomato's, onions, and tahini. Bite by bite, each one oozing a blend of flavors that will make your taste buds go bonkers! I wish I had ordered more Pita bread to pick up all the extra that busted out of the Pita! Check in on their Yelp page to see if they have a deal (may be expired, 50% off second item you buy) and if it is expired, who gives to 2 bleeps! They are well worth every dollar spent!! I unfortunately did not try the Baklava... next time! , Sas efcharistó (thank you in Greek) Paul

This place is super tasty! It's our first time eating here, but we will definitely be back. The staff was very friendly, proactive, and interactive. They helped us pick menus items and were patient with our many questions. We ordered to go. The wait was a little long since they made everything fresh, so bear that in mind if you plan to do take out.

Are they still operating as a fast casual restaurant?

Kind of. You can order at the counter or they come to you. It's sort of is both. Either way they really take care of you!

When you enter the Gilbert Gateway Towne Center, you have to maneuver through tricky shared parking to find a space. We dined half past 6pm on Memorial Day, so thankfully parking was easier as I believe some businesses were closed for the holiday. Though parking is tight, there is no shortage of seating in this establishment. Some bench-style seating as well as chairs to accommodate whichever you prefer. What We Ordered: ~ The Great Greek Gyro (no onions) x2: My boyfriend remarked that the gyro meat tastes like it was reheated, which I also noticed it slightly tougher than a more authentic one I've had previously. Still a very solid gyro given this is a chain and fast service place with a generous portion. ~ Sides with our meals: French fries and lemon potatoes Personally, the lemon potatoes are a pass next time as very buttery and heavy. The French fries however, were fantastic! They appear to be twice fried to have an extra crunchiness. Overall, if I'm in the area and in the mood for Mediterranean, then I'd pop in to The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill. P.s. Don't forget to add your number for rewards via Toast!

It is a restaurant with a mini market which makes it feel so authentic. However, upon my first visit I didn't really look around the market but I did purchase a zero calorie Salaam cola which tasted exactly like Coca Cola. I was not sure what kind of sauce it was served with but it paired well with it. The plate portion size is no joke...Everything on the plate had a huge portion size: the salad, hummus, rice, and meat...all of them...Every bite with the yogurt sauce was flavorful. And then I tried a bite with hummus, rice, chicken and the sauce...wombo combo flavors. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish all of it so I had to take a to go box home. On my next visit I ordered the beef shawarma plate and I was not disappointed at all. After finishing with an empty plate, I walked around the mini market. I noticed there was allot of Middle Eastern food, candies, and drinks. I really enjoyed my Salaam cola on my first visit but they did not have the zero calorie version in stock...I did research on the brand and I found that they created the cola to provide aid to countries like (free)Palestine and Yemen which I deeply support. I'm not a Greek food aficionado but at least for the standard Greek restaurant fair to find an American Greek restaurant - delicious! Both times, unfortunately I couldn't order the kebabs because I didn't have time. They actually prepare them fresh and it takes about 25 minutes. I wanna come back and have those. Today, I had the gyro plate. Plenty of meat, delicious soft, fresh pita bread. Excellent hummus with a little olive oil in a pool in the center of it. The hummus is spread out in a , leaf or flour and there's plenty of it. Plenty of rice. And a delicious salad. They're dressing is so good. Not super sour/tangy. Great presentation too. The portions are more than enough. Really, two people could've eaten at my plate. The baklava is excellent. Service is good. Nice atmosphere. I love this place.
