Air conditioning not working and owners refuse to repair or replace. Breakfast is stale bagels or cereal with WATER.... Yeah, no milk for cereal. Staff are ineffectual to the point of being non-existent. Promises are made that things will improve, but never do. I wouldn't send my dog to this facility, much less a loved one. read more

I went here for rehab I was so scared at first, it being my First time going to a rehab but the women held it down !! Made amazing friends well more like a sisterhood felt like it rally Ended up feeling like I was at. Camp with my friends it became home , all the women were sooooo special and badass Food was good although the portions could be better:) I left a couple weeks early although I instantly wished I didn't They really helped me sooo much Sun staff really made a difference But sharing with other women. I'm here at Phoenix house in orange county to address my addiction issues. The program is great I learned alot about myself and feel confident that I will succeed in recovery. Today was Thanksgiving and the food ecceded my expectations. Piles of turkey ,stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans casserole, rolls,cranberry sauce, butter .The works. This program accepted me into their in custody program at Theo lacy and once my time was served I was picked up and brought to this big facility I mean would never think this place was a big as it is the staff here is well trained and most importantly love the work I've never seen any staff decline a client who needed advice the groups are criculum based and have not opened up my mind about the disease of addiction but have motivated me to get involved with a 12 step program and since doing so my life feels more valuable than a brick of gold I've regained a relationship with my family while following the advice of my counselor charmaine:s made some friends Herr like the most important thing that I've learned is how worthy iam to this world and those around,me shout out to Justin Charlie Matt Kelly claudia darel Erick miss d Kristin and most importantly RICHARD he has helped mold the foundation to my new life by being a excellent example of how a man in recovery oprrates if anyone is reading this and wondering if it's the place to go feel free to contact me if you any questions that wasn't covered in my review yeah also one of the coolest 5hings is that you are allowed to have your phone or tablet which makes for a good time when you wanna just relax on your free time watch a movie or listen to music in the gym read more

My rating is based on what it used to be. I was a resident there on the adolescent side from 93-97 and as a live in live out. When Jim Chinowsky & Howard were the directors. Great memories, great life long friendships made with both peers and staff who I love very much and still keep in touch with. I miss the tutorials , marathons, AAF days, our teachers Patty, Chu & Paula. Staff was hard on us I would say only the strong survived those times but it made us who we are. I called today to see if I can visit my old home and I was met with a big fat no!‍ staff on the phone wasn't to cool and said only if I'm providing services or a resident will I be allowed in. I could have done a speaking engagement about how life is after many years sober for the residents as a testimony to what God and Phoenix can do for your life in hopes to motivate the current residents but he didn't even care to ask. I miss the PHOC of the past. Give this place a chance though maybe they still help people. read more

Phoenix house of santa ana is a horrible place the staff are very rascist they allow stealing fights and they do not care for the mental health clients as they should this program is a dictatorship and a democracy they have a cockroach infestation along with rats all in the kitchen and also in the dorms where we live. They run out of paper towels and toilet paper and takes weeks to resupply do not come to this rehab it does not help the classes are from the 80 and they do the same classes over and over read more

Phoenix House has started an elementary school program at my child's school and am NOT a fan based on what I've seen so far. My 11 year old is wondering why they keep acting like all the kids are depressed and talking about how angry the kids must be. Although some of the kids probably are, most of those kids are happy kids who just want some salami and to run around on the playground. The person leading the group makes my child feel uncomfortable based on the vibe being given off. The questions being asked of my child are none of their business. We will most likely be opting out of the program at school. In our family these discussions can be handled by us as parents. Feels very sneaky the way this has been added into the school curriculum. read more

I had an interesting experience at the Phoenix House the first time I went there I graduated with 90 days received a certificate of completion and went to their cleanpath sober living house and was there for a month-and-a-half all paid for by my medical beneficiary membership I highly recommend this program to anybody who's trying to save their life because the counselors have a great great Insight on addiction and they understand their clients very well there was also a special medications such as Suboxone that really help you fight the craving I like the program so much that I went there a second time but just was shy of a second completion I highly recommend this program to anybody who wants to get clean and stay sober and the program has an excellent Sports area and a gym set Whenever there was an issue with another client or any kind of incident the staff was right on it to handle the situation as best as they could two thumbs up and five out of five stars this program saved my life read more

So my brother ended back in this place again I think two more times. He was so desperate. They were kind enough to take him in again upon detoxing. Unfortunately he checked him self out too early. He no longer roams the earth as he was sick of the relapses. When I contacted Phoenix about him, I didnt feel any kind of support. It was like a medical intake and business as usual. I wish they wouldve spoke to me about his last month there and what his daily routine was and what they perceived. No one contacted to tell me he checked himself out much less his plan. He went straight to a hotel and went downhill. Again as I said before, its up to the individual ultimately but if someone is clearly showing constant relapsing, when do you contact the family to proceed with some sort of restraint or conservatorship? No one would help us because he was so good at manipulating people but I guess medical history didnt matter. Now he is gone. Folks youre on your own, this is a temporary stop! read more

This palace is great new weight room all the staff are awesome, some are even good looking food is not bad watch tv can use you phone if u are looking for a place to get clean this is the place I was at the hope house for a month and got a transfer to phoenix house. Soon much better my counselor Verna was great help me alot. To pull my life to get together same Darryl, too many to mention but it's up to you to stay clean. Phoenix House relies on outdated substance use disorder treatment protocols rather than evidence-based medicine. Group "therapy" sessions based on yelling at one another and breaking the person in focus down. Manual labor without appropriate water, breaks, and safety equipment. I was stuck in this place for 2 years as a kid. From 92 to 94. I'm 39 years old now and I still have bad dreams about this place regularly. I've been to Iraq and have had my legs blown off. But when I go to bed at night this is the place I have nightmares about. It's a great place to make you feel even more hopeless than you already feel. read more

For the last time, in my ongoing attempt at recovery, I found the answer to the reasons with my ongoing battle with addiction. Never have I experienced warmth, care and concern along with guidance from the theroputic community and the services offered within. I received therapy, counseling, group support, recreation and long lasting relationships. Also a life saving opportunity to become apart of by after care programs that allow me to keep my recovery stable and based upon these taught principles along with being committed to something I'm eternally grateful for. Recovery is recovery no matter where you go.. your either going to work your program or not. Phoenix house is no better or worse than any other place to get clean. We tried to get my family member into treatment and the thousands of dollars to get a bed at other places always made the excuse easy to stay using. Phoenix house gave my family member a bed and a place to get clean for 90 days for almost nothing. He attends recovery maintenance services there now and is the happiest I've ever seen him. My nephew went to phoenix house (Santa Ana Calif.) for a serious problem. So, I get a phone call on the 5th day. he said that this place is horrible. he has seen 2 counslers that are lazy and don't talk to you, he begs to go to a meeting, they say you have one right here with the 4-6 guys you are bunking with. So they send the 4-6 guys into a different room to have a meeting with themselves!!! No counsler or professional is there with them. He asked one of the counslers if he could go to a REAL meeting. They said NO!! not for 30 DAYS!!! They do not keep these guys busy. he is BEGGING them for something to do. They are just on their own. he willingly went in there for help. This is so sad. he already wants out just so he can set up his own regimen, his own N/A meetings. he has so much natural energy, I think he should be a NA meeting counsler. he pumps everyone up. he has been in there for one month. I can't help but to think because of how strong he is and happy to be clean, that being in phoenix house will only cause depression and there is no help. and make her own regimen since they are doing absolutely nothing for him at the phoenix house. Except drug test him daily. I wrote this to all the parents that have to PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for this place!!! DON'T DO IT!! Look for a better one. A MUCH BETTER ONE!!!! read more

Probably the worst place I had ever had a job. There is no training or guidance and the pay is terrible. The supervisor does not support the staff and is unapproachable and not helpful to any of her employees. You get in trouble for not doing things you did not know you had to do. It is the most unorganized job I ever had and everyone there felt the same way as me. The things that happen here did not happen at my other jobs. I felt lost the entire time and kept asking for help until I just gave up. Like every one they hired. Do not work here. The pay rate is a joke and there is no training or guiding you. read more

I Had a Serious concern question are men and woman placed together ,,?or do they have privliges on communicating with each other. .,?

My son seemed hopeless, I had been through 15 years of madness with him. He had been to prison several times, jail, mental wards, conserved for a year in a mental hospital, addicted to meth and alcohol and finally homelessness, because no one could deal with the daily drama and disrepect. He finally ended up in jail once again and after his release his probation officer told him it was Phoenix house or back to jail as he had gotten off the meth but still drinking heavily. I thought well just another place for him to go kill some time. My prayers went unanswered and he had failed once again. BUT honestly this place is different, the men seem to respect each other and my son seems very content. I am not sure what all is expected of him daily but I have been allowed to visit him from 2-5 on Sundays and cant believe the difference. He seems to be so much clearer and now talking about getting a job!!! WTF!! Honestly, he is with others that have suffered so much loss and hurt through their addictions and alcoholism and I think for some reason the freedom they have to help each other there makes all the difference in the world I am not able to say exactly what about it is different but I think that the laws are enforced differently and they have counselors not drill instructors. They are afforded a lot of room to face their own demons and not just exposed to rule after rule that creates an endlessly unobtainable goal and feels like a prison. He has a place to face himself and other than no drugs or alcohol and a few very understandable rules for safety and security they are really allowed to be themselves and work on themselves. He still has a long way to go, but he has been there a few weeks now and last night I attended a family group, it was fun and very informing. It seems that the house tries its best to encourage a way to sobriety that still allows the person to feel free and not beaten into submission, which is always degrading and depressing. I am now hoping that he will be able to complete his time and come out with the ability to reason why it is best to leave drinking in the past. After all there are so many other men there with him and they all seem to be supportive of each other even though each one is battling their own demons. I have nothing bad to say because it is the first time I dare to hope he is going to come home with the skills he needs to face life without the crutch of being dazed and confused on alcohol and drugs. Is it perfect, I would have to say no, I am sure you could find a much more ritzy place with much more demanding rules. But if you are seeking an honest recovery where you travel at your own pace and people respect you on the level you earn. Try this place, so far my son is changing for the good and I could not ask for more. Stop hurting yourself and get help, you can change if you want to. But it takes hard work and facing your demons in the face and telling them to go home. Prayer does work. read more

Worse place I ever been. No schedule. Not organized.. Every day group is canceled or ran by someone that has no idea what they are doing. They hire anyone people with no education or training no one knows what they r doing. Staff is frustrated and hates there jobs. I am already going to file a complaint with medi cal becuz they did not provide any real treatment. Groups almost never took place. They make clients play softball and watch movies. That's not rehab. They also make clients work. IM IN REHAB. I am here to get help not do a job everyday that's why you have staff. Thats abuse and taking advantage of clients. You can't make me work then bill my medi cal. Not sure if that's legal. And they make you go on passes with other clients. It is wrong. You cannot make/force clients to spend there day in rehab chaperoning another client to the doctors or a family visit. Im not getting paid for this? This place is backwards and does so much wrong it will all come to lite. If you had this happen too you need to complain to medi cal too its not right. Do not go here read more

Worst place I had been. Filthy living conditions, dirt, bugs, no air, clients do jobs that staff should be doing even clients with insurance paying for them to be here. Clients working in admissions while they are clients which is a concern. Horrible understaffed. 30 people or more in groups not following medi cal rules. Incompetent staffs members with little education no licenses just students and drug counselors, no real licensed professionals to help you. Clients have to run groups cause they dont have enough staff. No support no assistance. Always getting different answers. No therapy support or Job assistance. Never have enough employees. Employees sit in offices with doors open having consults sharing private info with doors open. Not a comfortable place to be. Go somewhere else that has real professionals that help with therapy and job assistance this one will not dont waste your time read more

My son 28 was in the Phoenix house Santa Ana about a year ago. They do not care for mental illness as claimed. No activities, will not let them nap during the day. (He's medicated) All they do is shoot hoop, have tons of mtgs and smoke cigs all day. Very mean to my son, made him try to keep all his appointments after only one month there from the streets. Richard is a jerk. The guy doesn't care, just wants paycheck. They need stuff for men to do. I brought stuff like badminton they would make me check it out every time. Asked if I could bring ping ping they would not let us play. My son ended up leaving to the streets again. Maybe ok for alcohol and drugs, not a place for mentally ill. It would be awesome to have a camp counselor type who could motivate. Get them up and exercise or something. Dang just buy cheap stuff for guys to have fun with. Like I said ping pong would have gone a long way. read more
