Im giving this place two stars based on service and food. It's great that this pho place closes late on a Friday night. I checked us in around 21:00 and didn't get a table for two until 21:45, after being told it's a 15 minute wait. I told the hostess we will wait just outside, she said okay we'll call u once a your table is ready. I notice a couple that came check in 10 minutes after us took our table. I checked and saw she skipped my name twice. The server said she called my name when clearly she didn't. I let that lie go lol. We got a table finally. Food didn't come out the same time, I got the shrimp spring roll, nothing FRESH OR SPRING about them.. basically was a shrimp sliced in half, lettuce, and undercooked rice noodles wrapped in rice paper. Peanut sauce was just sauce out a bottle. My pho came out piping hot, which was great, broth was okay, but the rice noodles clumped, stale noodles perhaps? Nothing too fresh about the bowl. First timer here. Ordered a #6 rare steak and beef brisket with extra shrimp. Flavor in broth was there but I wish it had more kick. I also asked for some nuoc beo and server said, "I don't think we have that" and walked away . I love adding it to my pho and this was the first place ever to tell me they don't have it. The food was amazing, let's start off with the appetizers. Shrimp and beef springs rolls with their peanut sauce and a drizzle of sriracha is to die for. Ordered a Sapporo and him, a Tsingtao. The chicken chow mein was amazing, so juicy and savory, I was very pleased. With a generous amount of sriracha ( I like spice ), I did my work on the plate. The service was great! Greeted immediately! The waiter and waitress who helped us were great! I did accidentally have a spill. The place is known for its in-demand nature, one of the more popular spots in downtown Modesto. So let's start by getting some of the minor details out of the way. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. I don't want to sound judgmental, but when the place is not 97 degrees with 100% humidity, the kitchen is in plain sight so you can see everything being cooked and the restrooms are actually clean, it gives you a sense of reassurance in your decision. Now, for the good stuff, and I DO mean good. We started with the egg rolls. They were light and crispy. Almost an art form. Wasn't sure if we should eat them or have them framed. They were wonderful. Not really sure why they served them with sauce...as there was really no need. Then it was on to the Rare Slice Steak and Brisket Pho. HUGE!!! There was so much, half of it came home. That in itself should say something. If you take soup home, it MUST be good. Then it was the Rice with Grilled Beef. This may have been in the top 10 beef I have ever had. The beef was very thinly sliced and then wrapped around scallions before cooking. This combination is amazing, and worthy of eating again. It's dishes like this that make people like me get locked in and never try anything else. If you find yourself in Modesto, you should give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

We've tried server noodles houses in Modesto and this noodle house broth is has down better than the many I've tried in Modesto. There very quick with their service and straight forward with what they have available. It is small so make sure you go alone or with 4or less people to enjoy dine in experience. A 2 Star to be honest the spring rolls and steak pho were not good. They were edible, but lacked flavor, the consistency of the traditional pho that I grew up with in the peninsula, and Milbrae area was not there. The fresh spring rolls were a little on the hard, chewy side. The pho was bland. Perhaps the toasted grilled onion was missing. I'm not sure. We are def. not going back. We came to try this restaurant based on the reviews. We LOVE pho and usually eat it wherever we go. Boy were we wrong. What a waste of money! My kids did like the strawberry smoothies. We ordered spring rolls and rare steak pho for everyone. They didn't have bean sprouts. Served us the springs rolls without any peanut sauce. Bowls came out not full. I have never tasted pho like todays and we have been to MANY pho places. No flavor, something was missing and It was just off. It was so gross I couldn't eat it. The restaurant isn't too big and can feel crowded when it's busy and there really isn't much of a waiting area. The pho prices are great and it comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. My coworker got a large and it was super big! I ordered a medium pho and it was a good size for me. They certainly give a lot of noodle. The broth was excellent! It had great flavor, yet subtle. In the heart of downtown Modesto. Very busy and they were short handed, nevertheless they got my order done in 20 minutes. This restaurant-is very small, building is old, and old decor. I ordered spring rolls which had pork and shrimp in it. It came with peanut sauce, both were good. I ordered the #10 rare sliced steak, the broth had good flavor. Ordered to pho togo. It was one of the most bland pho's I ever had. Broth had no flavors, I even questioned myself if I had covid, one of the symptoms is loss of taste, but I could taste my leftovers chipotle I had right after since I wasn't satisfied, so that's not the issue. I'm not sure what happened, but this place use to have one of the best pho's in town. Apparently not anymore. I will revisit in a few months, hopefully I can give a better review. read more

The broth of the pho here is full of aromatic just beefy goodness! The broth is so good you definitely don't need to doctor up your bowl with sriracha or hoisin sauce. I just ask for an empty sauce plate to mix the chili oil along with sriracha and hoisin to dip the the different cuts of meat in. Their fried banana with coconut icecream is so comforting. The crispy exterior and the warm banana with the cold creamy coconut icecream will sure round out your entire meal. The service is great servers are attentive! read more
