Came in on a Tuesday around 5:45pm. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. About eight tables and four groups dining. The order taker was really nice and only out to go order. Three shrimp tacos, one tonkatsu, one chicken and one crab mix along with the mixed tempura and the tonkatsu. We also ordered two drinks- the peach sky and ube taro. Holds everything together and doesn't break on you. They like the toppings on too! My fave is the salmon, tuna, and unagi ones. They have other options on their menu like ramen soup, and rice bowls, as well as appetizers. I don't like coming here for their rice bowls or ramen soup I can speak much on those. For appetizers I do like their mixed tempura. Lightly battered, crisp and delicious. The building is small and so is the parking lot. It's shared with a car mechanic shop. So earlier this year I got introduced to this place thru a Yelp Elite experience and needless to say that visit really blew me away. Since that visit I have returned three different times,always bringing someone different to show off this excellent restaurant find located near 73rd and Stockton Blvd Engawa Fusion is such a special place-this restaurant is over 30 minutes from my house in Natomas in traffic ,yet that never stops me from trekking my way across Sacramento-I love this place that much. On this particular visit we started with 2 different sushi tacos-We had the tuna version and the salmon version-each priced at $11.00. Now I could write a novel explaining the virtues of these culinary creations but I will keep it short-the tuna and the salmon tacos are such the perfect bite-well balanced-well seasoned-surprisingly heavy in the hand while being light to the taste-it's truly been my favorite new food item discovery of 2026. Next we went with the Stir-Fry Udon and this cost us $16.00. I've described this dish in the past as a dish I could eat every day of my life and would be a very happy person.The flavor and seasonings are flawless,the noodles are cooked perfectly,great chew-a very slurpable noodle for sure. I can easily see why this dish is such a popular item on their menu. This restaurant was given a spot on Yelps Top 100 Places to eat in 2025-nothing in this visit did a thing to show that honor wasn't well deserved. I discovered this remarkable restaurant while attending a Yelp Elite Experience back in March 2026. I had a craving for the delectable sushi tacos, so I had to swing by. For late lunch, I ordered the following: * Passion Peach Tea * Taco Unagi * Taco Ebi * Taco Crab Mix The tea was absolutely refreshing and very forward with the Peach flavor. All of the tacos were addictive, with a soft crunch in every bite. Even though I was completely satisfied with the appetizing taste of all the tacos, my top favorite was the Taco Crab Mix. The inside of the restaurant had such an inviting, contemporary vibe. I enjoyed the entire atmosphere with its lovely decor and cool ceiling lights. The food here was peculiar. The shrimp tempura was terrible as the batter was very thick and it was like eating fried shrimp from a cheap frozen bag. It shouldn't even be called tempura since the batter was super thick, nothing like tempura. I ordered the curry udon that had a mashed potato-like cream on top. Came here with a bunch of work colleagues that also like to explore the asian food scene in Sac, and we were all impressed. It's a cute, little join off Stockton Blvd, which as you know isn't the "cutest" street. However, once you walk inside you enter a world of japanese fusion. Waiters are very kind and the place is not large so easy to be attended. This time I ordered the unagi sushi taco that had such a tender slice of eel you were able to get a piece in every bite. The "taco shell" is a piece of seaweed lightly breaded and fried, along with a small layer of rice to cushion the shredded veggies. This particular sushi taco also had sliced apple to add a balanced flavor combo with the sweet and sticky unagi sauce. Almost felt like it dipped into barbecue sauce flavored territory but in the best way possible. The main ramen features a chicken and pork broth but also had peanut butter and peanuts mixed in. Peanut butter just added a ton of creaminess to the very flavorful broth with the peanuts adding great texture. I opted into add the chashu and it was an additional three dollar charge (four slices included). Worth every cent because the torched pork just melts in your mouth. My friend got the seasonal milk tea drink of honeydew with heart jellies that was very yummy. He also got an octopus salad that was refreshing with hints of rice vinegar to act as almost a pallet cleanser between foods. He was expecting a very small portion and was happy to see a pretty full plate brought out. On top of everything prices are very decent and affordable which is incredible considering the quality of food. I've had Engawa bookmarked forever, so finally got to try them out. It's one of those places, you think, "why didn't I come here sooner." This place is so cute and cozy inside. The staff welcomed us in and we were seated right away. We ordered the chicken wings and fries and a salmon taco. Also the iced mango green tea for my husband. He loved it and actually ended up ordering another! The wings (all flats) were "Nagoya style," typically coated and fried with a soy garlic sauce. The wings didn't have much of a coating, and could've been fried longer. The flavor was mostly soy sauce, so this was not a favorite. The crinkle-cut fries were a shareable portion and perfectly fried. The salmon (sake) taco had layers of rice, sliced cucumber, avocado, pickled radish, cabbage, and the salmon topped with a ponzu sauce. Presentation is very appealing with the fried seaweed shell. It's the size of a regular crunchy Mexican taco, so it holds a good amount of filling. But for me it was hard to get a bite with all the ingredients in it, so even though it's a cool fusion concept that is executed and presented very well, I prefer to have my sushi in the traditional rolls. The inside I really do love how it's very minimal and it was really warm and cozy love the wood decoration feel inside felt like you were at a Japanese Temple or like a Onsen house. I asked for extra Curry inside so I can make sure that I have a really good well-balance of strong curry flavor with the Airy potato cream on top. The udon was really chewy and had a nice texture and I do love the curry sauce that is mixed with it and they did add extra curry sauce which was really helpful with making this dish balance. I also like how it comes with a choice of three piece shrimp tempura or deep fried chicken. I went with their tempura shrimp and it was a really nice shrimp tail deep fried. One thing I didn't like is the tempura batter which looks kind of hard and it's not your usual fluffy Airy tempera batter. . They also had chicken wings and crinkle cut fries which is my favorite cut of fries which is meaty and not your skinny originally type of fries. The chicken wings had a really nice soy sauce flavor with some sesame seeds and it was a great chicken wing if you're craving for some chicken wings. . I also like their veggie Ramen which was a big serving and I do love the soy sauce base underneath. The noodles was a really great texture not to thick or thin but has a great flavor and texture.
