First time here with a friend. I have driven by this business numerous times, along with another friend of mine recommending it, after she took her son there. I was extremely impressed by how clean the place was and the prompt and professional service brought to us by our waitress, Summer. I found her to be very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu, as well as, checking in on us, if we desired anything else, especially dessert, which we politely declined. Parking can be a challenge, since it's located in a busy little strip mall. I also did not find any handicapped parking too. Overall, I enjoyed my bacon cheeseburger, fries and their mozzarella sticks, yummy! Definitely plan on going back again in the future. read more

I really wish I could give a good review, and I had really been looking forward to trying a new place because I love burgers, but no. To start, of the seven orders at our table, only one came out as ordered. I don't know if the mix-up was in the kitchen or with the initial order, but all were delayed because of the mistakes. Regarding taste and presentation, the fries were soggy with grease, and limp, and the burgers had no flavor. I'm not a big salt person. For me, reaching for the salt shaker is rare, but if I had not salted the underseasoned burger, I would have tasted nothing. There is definite room for improvement, and as I was left with horrid stomach cramps the whole rest of the evening, I wonder about the food safety standards as well. read more

Took more than an hour to serve us 4 burgers. Late Saturday afternoon so crowd was not an issue. Order was wrong. Up charge of $1.50 for onion rings in place of French fries when both are listed at same price a la cart. Burgers were really greasy. Probably use 76% beef. I couldn't set my burger down once I picked it up. I could do better in a frying pan at home. French fries were good if you put a paper towel down to keep them from floating in burger grease. The BBB gets a B+ on effort, and could be a a solid A with a few tweaks. A friendly neighborhood bar and grill where you wouldn't mind bringing the kids or grandparents, the friendly staff seems to work hard to welcome everyone and see that the customers are taken care of well. The down side starts with the menu. Creative combination burgers are made up for you, rather than encouraging patrons to build their own. For my taste, there are way to many with avocado slices on them and other trendy hipster crap. This is Texas, not the west coast. Where is the BBQ and grilled onion burger? I settled on one called the Coloradoan. I nixed the avocado from my order, and not only wonder why they thought it was a good addition, but why am I paying for expensive avocado slices if I don't want them? The meat: Fresh and looks like hand shaped, the beef was good but lacked a savory flavor that it should have had. I remember seeing a famous chef who said no burger was complete without a sprinkle of garlic, and these guys should listen. It would have made a B student the star of the class. All the topping were fresh, and the homemade fries reminded me of Mom's, complete with her sogginess. A simple tweak of frying french fries known to the best cooks and chefs could have again pushed a B student to super star status. Go down to Mac's Place downtown, and order fries. THAT son is how a home made fresh french fry is cooked. I must get on my soap box about the single piece long green chile on my burger. First, it's too mild, and second, why the heck don't you chop them the way a green chile burger is supposed to be? The best spicy burger in town right now is the Nopal Cafe downtown, whose Mexicali Burger offers CHOPPED green chiles, grilled sliced fresh jalapeno and poblanos. Go get one, and duplicate the toppings, copy Mac's Place fries, put some garlic salt on the meat and you can take this Border Burger Bar to new locations all over town. read more

As much as I'd like to believe that I will find a great burger at one of these "burger" restaurants, the reality is all the great burgers I've found are either at a steakhouse or a Mexican restaurant. This time I was really looking forward to my visit. First off, I noticed you could order the meat anywhere from medium to medium well. This is the first clue that the meat is fresh. If you can't order your meat less than well done, don't bother eating at that restaurant. It was probably my fault as I was on the phone and wrapping up a phone call as I ordered, but I wasn't asked how I'd like the hamburger meat cooked. Big mistake. I like it medium, and it was served medium well. Second, I ordered the Border Burger. This was my first time, and I wasn't paying much attention to all the details but they completely left out the fried jalapenos and the cheese. I was in a hurry and was not in the mood to complain, so I put that aside, plus the waitress was busy futzing around with the register and learning how to use it as this restaurant had just opened recently. Finally, as I took bites of the burger I noticed the bread seemed to crumble and fall apart into pieces. It didn't taste bad or stale, but I just think Gussie's does a poor job making buns (that's where they get their bread from). Anyway, just another disappointment added to my long list of "burger" restaurant fails. I would have given it 2 stars, but I'm hopeful these comments will help them improve plus the meal itself was edible and I really couldn't say it was bad in anyway. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because the bun used on the burgers always fall apart while eating the delicious burgers. They are freshly made was the reason I was given. First time here. Not disappointed. The burgers are delicious and the service was great! Our young waiter made a couple of mistakes but he was quick on rectifying it. Very friendly staff all around. The owner/manager even came around to check on the table and make sure everyone was doing ok. I had the border burger with sweet potato fries and Oh My Goodness was it yummy! I can't wait to try the Kimchi burger next time. Give it a shot, you won't regret it. Oh, and they play great music too! All old rock classics. read more

My wife and I popped in yesterday for dinner. I had a bacon double burger and she had the classic, both with extra veggies. They were outstanding! Cooked exactly the way we ordered them. The fried pickle appetizer was delicious as well. I opted to get half of onion rings and half fries with my order, delicious as well. So this restaurant is a good distance from my home but it is worth the gas and trip. Let me start with the appetizer we got. We ordered the Combo which came with fried pickels, fried mushrooms, original wings, and these huge mozzerella wedges. They were all cooked and batter most deliciously. The marina was hearty with tons of flavor and th spicy aioli was awesome sauce. My children got a kids buger, it was a good size for kid and the kids chicken nuggets which were had battered and fried. Mhm. The meat is tenderloin so it was juicy tender. My husband ordered the bacon cheese burger with regular fries. Their BBQ bun is very soft. I didn't try his but it looked appetizing. I ordered the green Chile burger which came with a lemon aioli, some avocado and green Chile with truffle parmesan fries. WOW! You have to try the truffle fried, have to! The burger was given to me nice and neatly but boy eating it turned into a slopfest. But hey if it's messy you can bet it's usually something scrumptious. The environment was friendly and warm. It's spacious. I didn't get to try their beer but man their selection was great! Overall we found this place to be awesome! We will definitely be coming back! We enjoyed the food very much! The menu selection is different but that's the plus side! It's not boring! I was a little disappointed when my Salmon burger came out as a filet and not actually a Salmon patty, which is what I was honestly looking forward to. The Salmon itself didn't have flavor but went well with everything else. Our fries had a "fried too hard" presentation to them as they were not blanched so they came out extra brown and not golden. Not so appealing but they were seasoned well and didn't taste like they came frozen. My husband loves burgers so he ordered the Kimchi burger which did not disappoint! He is excited to come back and try their Kimchi nachos! They seem to have a good amount of beer on the menu but with our luck when we both ordered our beer, they didn't have it. It's always good to try something new and luckily our waitress was able to recommend something similar. As new residents of El Paso we are eager to try new restaurants and we will be back to try more! read more

Heard about this restaurant from my sister and Yelp, so decided to try it today. Overall not a bad place to go for a burger, but was somewhat disappointed. Here's the good part: prices are very reasonable and you get a really big burger and plenty of fries. Had ice tea which was really good as were the fries, except maybe a bit over seasoned. Now the burger. I had the bacon cheese burger and asked that it be cooked medium well. Got a large patty, but it was cooked too long and very dry. Even with the cheese bacon and mustard, it still was too dry. Not sure why as there were only a few customers at the time I ate, so the burger patty should have been cooked properly. Since I was alone and very few customers, I expected the server to be more attentive, but that was not the case. Will I go again? Probably, just to see if this was a bad day. As I said before, the price is right and you do get a lot for your money. read more
