This place was a good little "mom & pop" shop though there was a couple of things that kept me from giving it 4 stars. Con: dirty bathroom, egg rolls came out after main dishes. Service was quick but they were 3 very young girls so they were very quiet. Only talked to them to order and pay check. I ordered a grilled steak sandwich which was good. Streak was tender and seasoned well. It didn't have enough toppings. One small slice of cucumber, half had shredded carrot, cilantro . Wouldn't have been so bad it there was more meat. Still, a good sandwich for the price. We ordered Eggrolls because they didn't have any spring rolls. Egg rolls can out hot and fresh fried. After letting them cool for a moment, they were filled with chicken which made them a little dry. My husband ordered seafood soup which had 5 pieces of shrimp, pork and a quail egg. It was tasty. Every entree is $10! I've had seafood noodle soup and it wasn't my favorite! They also charge $1 for water which I don't understand? But I don't think they have much to offer unless you loved the food. One entree or two entree is save to order and in my opinion it's the original pho and the pork chop rice dish. Had a pretty bad hangover and I saw somewhere that pho is a good hangover cure, so got some takeout from Phu Quoc. Ordered the beef pho with no cilantro. This was the first time I ordered from here and I gotta say, it was pretty good. And I think it really did help my hangover lol. Beware!!!! This place is disgusting! As soon as my family and I walked I the floors were sticky the followed by the table being sticky and thick like it hasn't been wiped. I don't know how this restaurant is still in business. The sauce bowl had left over disgusting residue on it! Bathroom smelled like a public bathroom at a park with mildew on toilet and sink. And now to the food... Pho tasted like instant pho you but at the Asian store (actually the instant pho tastes better yes this place). There were black chunks floating within the brotha not sure if that was pieces from the meat in my dac biec but whatever I still decided to get my money worth since I ordered already. And now to the service... No greeting, both mom and daughter looked like they hated their lives and didn't even know how to say hello or welcome. Facial express was like someone who lost lots of money at a casino and had to go to work the next morning and didn't want to put up with anyone or anything. Didn't feel like a pleasant or customer friendly setting what so ever. Finally to the cost... 95 percent of items on menu was $10! Four spring rolls was $10, al pho was $10 and other items was $10! The worse out of all this was the WATER!!!! Any restaurant should give a FREW glad of iced water correct? Well this place gives you a bottle of water and they don't even say anything about charged bottle of water on menu, door, table, etc. when I get my bill I see an extra $4 and she said it was for the bottle of water. Thankfully my table only drank two bottles and returned the other two bottles. Overall, this place is a disgrace to Vietnamese restaurants and Asian business in general. Worst place I've ever been in my life!! The waitress/chef was miserable and rude! She was in a sleeping gown! We should've left but didn't want to be rude. We sat down and the tables were sticky. The walls and floors were super dirty! Looks like it has never been washed! Utensils were dirty so we took it to wash in their bathroom which was disgusting! Their bathroom had shampoo and toothbrushes in with a bucket of water under the drain. I don't know for what but It smelled like sewer. The food was bland. She was so unpleasant! There was no banh cuon cha lua when I ordered it. I got the com suong nuong (rice plate) with egg and the banh mi thit nuong sandwich (Vietnamese sandwich in baguette with pickled vegetables). The interior felt and smelled very Vietnamese (incense by the front door). They also had a decorative fish tank. There are fake flowers decorating the walls and tables. The tables have a random assortment of chopsticks and utensils that don't match and look quite worn. The table had fermented shrimp paste, oyster sauce, fish sauce and satay sauce. The room had a fridge with cereal on top and the bathroom felt like a house bathroom with hairbrushes and personal items. The cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) was sitting out pre-made (without ice). The com suong nuong was really tasty and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The rice had a brown sauce on it that isn't common on these dishes but it tasted great. The sandwich was served with a meat that wasn't typical thit nuong either. It had a bo luc lac (shaken beef) sweet flavor to it. When we asked for water, we got water bottles and no cups or ice. read more

Everything in Utica was closed this Memorial Day weekend, except this place. Absolutely AVOID this place. I walked in and wanted to leave, but my family was starving. The table was dirty with a sticky surface. I went to the bathroom in order to get some paper to clean the table to find there was a dresser with toothbrushes and hairbrushesthere! The lady taking our order was grumpy and not courteous at all. Ordered the beef pho, but after a couple of spoonfuls couldn't eat no more. Greasy salty and the meat was rubbery. The summer rolls were not soft at all. Again, one bite in and then stopped. The iced coffee has a layer of some powdered ice on it. The girl who wiped it up took ice cubes out of a cooler by the cashier. The kitchen was a make-shift room in the back. God knows how sanitary that place was. We couldn't eat our meals, felt sick due to the dirty and unsanitary conditions and were nauseous when we left. DON'T even bother going in. This place is disgusting! A fun place if you're looking for adventure and local quirk. I ordered rice noodles with fresh veggies, beef, and chopped up spring roles. My dish was quite good, however some others in my party didn't like the food they ordered. Wait staff was not very friendly but not extremely rude either. Food is really great, seriously! They know what they're doing in the kitchen...but definitely a mom & pop establishment. No cash register even though it's cash only. Sticky surfaces, toothbrushes and hairspray in the back, clearly the daughters working as the servers and not so friendly. Fish tank leaning propped up on the wall. Worn out utensils. First and foremost, the food is delicious. Coming from LA, I wasn't expecting great ethnic food in Utica, but Phu Quoc delivers. The portions are huge and the food is authentic and hearty. The owner/cook was a nice lady who served our food quickly. The crab soup with seafood and tofu was packed with crab, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the flavors were wonderful. The only downside was the ambiance: there was a customer who seemed like a friend of the owner who was talking very loudly on the phone and the place looks quite drab, but I didn't mind because the food was so great. This place is totally unassuming, but is some of the best, homemade food in the area. This is our go to place when we are craving pho. I know that a lot of people complain about the service, but I have always been greeted with care, my needs have been met, and it feels like you are entering someone's personal home, and sharing their meals with you. We often drive the over an hour it takes to get to this restaurant just because we are craving the food. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. The place was empty so we were seated immediately, however, while I was looking over the menu, the server would look over my shoulder, hover, and rush us in deciding what to eat. I asked them to give me a minute and I would call them over when I was ready but she came back a minute later to rush us again. Seemed like they wanted to get it over with so they can get back to watching the movies on their cellphones in an empty restaurant. They were extremely unwelcoming, has as much personality as a door knob. Very unhelpful with the menu, floors and tables were sticky. No 'hello', 'thank you' or welcome'. Bathroom had paper towels covering the windows for privacy. Ordered the steak sandwich, received a toasted piece of bread with one small slice of meat with sprinkles of cucumber and carrots. Totally unappetizing. Drink selections consisted of Pepsi and a bottle of water. If a glass of water was an option I would have opted to pay for the bottle anyway if the cleanliness of the restaurant was any indication of how clean their water was. I have no idea how with place manages to stay open or how people can give anything more than one star. Do yourself a favor and find a different place to eat. read more

Went there once fairly recently. Upon going in the place had a foul smell and the server was... I wouldn't say rude but definitely didn't seem like she wanted to be there. After hearing about how good the food was I reluctantly decided to stay and must say the food was really good, however I don't believe I will be returning. read more
