Working with both Anthony and Pina has produced excellent results in just the short amount of time that I've been under their care. Though Anthony is newer in his career, he brings a lot of knowledge about the latest physical therapy practices. He is also particularly good at listening to my description of how my body is responding to exercises that we are testing out. He takes my description and is very responsive to adjusting the level of intensity exercises that we are testing out to provide an appropriate amount of load on my Achilles tendon. Before seeing Anthony, I didn't realize that it was possible to vary the load on muscles, tendons and ligament by using different exercises that work the same areas. My focus in seeing Pina has been to get Astym therapy. Astym therapy is is a physical therapy treatment that regenerates healthy soft tissues (muscles, tendons, etc.), and eliminates or reduces unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or movement restrictions. This is now my third time getting Asytm therapy for Achilles tendonitis related issues. Pina has been the most thorough of the physical therapists that I've seen for Astym therapy. In addition, she provided exercises as part of the Astym therapy along with clear explanations of why those exercises are useful. Although I had already done Astym twice before, I now have a much fuller understanding of how the method works from Pina's detailed explanation. I've seen marked improvements in my symptoms after only 2.5 weeks. I will definitely plan to return periodically in the future for a "tune-up" to address the scar tissue and stiffness built up over time from being a dedicated older cyclist and runner.

My range of motion dropped to 20-30ft. I tried a few chiropractors, who tried typical a few typical techniques, but could not help. Finally, I went to see Pina Mehta at Advantage Sports Therapy. She is a miracle worker. She was able to diagnose the problem on the first visit without even an x-ray. She taught me several stretches over several sessions to let the injured muscle heal. I'm glad I went there. I'm back to normal now.

Like many patients, I came to Dr. Bret due to a series of complex and persistent medical issues that weren't getting better with other approaches, including rheumatoid arthritis (chronic), whiplash (acute, from a car accident), costochrondritis (inflammation of where the rib meets the sternum), thoracic outlet syndrome (nerve compression causing numbness/tingling down my left arm), and an overall very deconditioned state due to some other issues. I first arrived at his office feeling overwhelmed, tired, scared but vaguely hopeful. In just over 6 months, Bret, Chrissy, and Jenny (ok, along with some other MVP providers in other disciplines) have helped reduce SO many of my symptoms (pain, numbness, tingling) and have taught me how to problem solve a lot of different ways I approach tasks in my life so that I'm putting my body in the best position for success long term. Regarding Bret, YES he has a long wait list, and YES it's worth it. I've been a chronic illness patient for 15 years and I'm also an occupational therapist (a field somewhat similar to PT) so I feel I have a little more of an expert lens through which to provide this review than perhaps the average person who only has one or two health issues. I have had many wonderful health providers, but I know how rare it is to behold a person who is 100% present and clearly in their element, and Bret is definitely in that category. Bret thrives on the complicated, unusual cases and knows his discipline inside and out, yet he also respects the psychosocial dimensions of care, which isn't always the case with people in his field. One last thing: if you get evaluated by Bret, you might then get seen weekly by another therapist. Don't be afraid of that! Bret appears to oversee all the other therapists, and also a brief review of various review sites will show you that he has an absolutely fabulous team of therapists under his wing. The first red flag appeared when the ND wanted me to designate him as my PCP. Who does this? RED RED FLAG. The first meeting should be your interview with your care provider and see if it is a good fit. Customer service is very very poor with their staff. All they do is read a script. They don't listen to you. I was most likely on some list to rid me. This is a trend in many medical places. I feel this place misrepresents itself in a manipulative way to lure lonely people who want to be part of something. Beware. They try to suck you into spending money at this place. People are lonely these days, and they manipulate a person into spending money to feel loved and cared. It's a business. BEWARE. An ND has no power to order real medical tests as I also found out from a medical testing center staff stating I need a MD to put in an order. THEY CANNOT ACCEPT THEIR ORDER from an ND. I wrote a review on Google and they replied with false statements. When a place has to write a long, lengthy personal reply - it's a red flag. They should try to find out how to do "better". I went there and Ken Crinklaw made adjustments to my orthotics to better suit my foot. I was just going to have him adjust my orthotics but I was still having knee pain from a previous surgery.
