Worst urgent care experience I've had in chicago. I came in to get antibiotics for strep. They were not working three days later so I called and the receptionist told me I'd have to come in to be re-evaluated. I went in to the clinic and not only was I not seen by a nurse or doctor, I was told to call the clinic the next day if my symptoms still had not improved. So here I am the next day and of course the symptoms have not improved. I call the clinic and am told to come in AGAIN to make sure it really is strep (even though I already had a strep test?). The run around I got was ridiculous. I'd rather wait this out than go back here again. read more

I have been to this location before but today's visit was really exceptional. I am twice a week covid tested for work and have been vaccinated, so I was a bit distressed knowing I needed to see a doctor while having respiratory symptoms. Will my covid test from work and vaccination be enough for it to be recognized that this isn't covid but something else? Will I have to prove it and get covid tested there and wait to receive the treatment I need? NOPE. I was in and out in about 15 minutes thanks to the good graces of a provider known only as Bobby. I offered my negative test and he told me he believes me. When I told him I get a respiratory infection roughly annually and know what works for my body he prescribed what they have prescribed me before. I'm not only grateful for getting the care I need, but I'm a person that has met a lot of doctors that have challenged me, didn't trust me to know my body, or listen to me when I tell them what I need. So as I'm writing about Bobby treating me in the incredibly trusting and humanizing way that he did, I'm honestly tearing up a bit. Cannot highly recommend this clinic enough. So I went here today. I LOVE that you can make an appt online, even though upon arrival nobody was there. I didn't have to wait long but w/ this being my first time there I did have to complete some paper work. I only paid my 30$ office visit since I have insurance. I went in w. an eye irritation, hoping it wasnt pink eye. Was told it was clogged tear duct. Was given script for antibiotics and told to use warm compress multiple times per day. Facility was clean but didnt feel like I was seeing real doctors. Felt like students? Friendly and nice but I just didnt get the confident vibe I like to feel when talking health and medicine. Very convenient. Free parking lot in back, 3 -4 spaces only. I got one on a thurs at 1215p. Would return but only if I was in a bind. Which I was today because I dont have a regular primary physician. read more

Be careful here. I just spoke to the head physician after a faulty diagnosis who kept speaking over me, gaslit me and at one point when I suggested his ego was showing literally said: "Your right. It is about my ego. i don't care about my patients." Backstory: I was sent unnecessarily to the ER due to an simple dry eye issue after the doctor who was examining me texted a picture of my eyes to this head physician who diagnosed me to the ER via text because one of my pupils was dilated even though I reported putting eye drops in that eye. Since I had to get my daughter, I was reluctant but the doctor said it was very serious and said I needed to go as soon as possible. Once I got to the ER, they quickly examined me and said they were surprised that I was sent to the ER. That it was an over abundance of caution from this clinic and my visit wasnt necessary. They prescribed me over the counter lubricating drops. So I could have gone straight from my home to the CVS! Upon talking to the clinic staff after that experience, they all were very surprised that I was diagnosed via a text picture and sent to the ER. They waived my clinic bill and said they would have the head doctor call me to discuss my experience. This doctor who called me this morning kept interrupting me, talking over me, gaslit me when I said that the other staff and ER doctors were also surprised this happen to me I got frustrated and said it sounded like his ego was talking and that he wasn't even acknowledging my poor experience and the great er debt he caused me that I think they should be liable to pay on my behalf. He said that I'm right that it is all about his ego and he doesnt care about his patients. He also said that it is a litigious world and he has to be careful. He also said they make text diagnosis all the time in direct negation of what the rest of the clinic staff told me. The ER doctors also said that had they spent a little more time with me and had done even a simple neurological exam that my visit would not have been necessary. So, take this under advisement that the lead physician admits that they diagnosis via text, that they make medical care decisions based on the possibility of lawsuits to cover themselves, that he doesn't care what his staff has to say about these practices, that it was un collegiate of the er doctors to show surprise in his sending me there and that it IS all about his ego and he doesn't care about his patients.o read more

On a Saturday morning, I went to Physicians Immediate Care - Edgewater, I waited almost two hours to be seen, but eventually I was seen and I tested positive for Strep Throat. I went on antibiotics immediately. Four days later, I had no improvement, my throat was still swollen and it was hard to swallow. Wednesday is my only day off, so at 9 AM I called to see if I could get a stronger antibiotic, or if I should come in. I was told Dr. Brian Hughes would call me back. At 12 noon, I still had no call, I called him again. I was told he was busy and that he would call me soon. I went to grab some food, walking right past the clinic. There were only two patients inside. Finally at 3:15, I called again and insisted on talking to the doctor. I was put on hold. Even eventually the receptionist told me that he would not give me an additional antibiotic or a stronger antibiotic. That if I wanted that, I should come in to the clinic. I said, "why didn't he tell me that this morning when I had all day to come in?" I was told that he has been busy. Which I understand, but I don't understand why I wasn't told to come in. Anyway, I said I could be there in 10 minutes, could he see me right away if I came in, because I need to pick up my kids from school? I was told, "no, there is an hour and a half wait." "That's why I called this morning!" Ugh. What a nightmare! This is not immediate care! read more

I am a freshmen out of state college student who had the flu, the first day I came in I had a women doctor who was very friendly and helpful and prescribed me with medicine that has helped my recovery however I came in again 2 days later due to a persistent cough that prevented me from doing anything and I had Dr Hughs this day. Dr. Hughs is the most blunt and unfriendly doctor I have ever had, he lectured me about how I should go to library and study and that the cough will last 4 weeks and I will have to get over it. He didn't provide any help or assistance or sympathy, I've never experienced anything like it. I don't recommend anyone come in during the time this sad excuse of a doctor is working it will be a waste or time and money! read more

There are times when you just need to see a doctor and don't want to go through the hassle of trying to schedule a time to see your primary care doctor, especially if the matter is urgent. I had a severe stye in my right eye that was extremely painful and caused me to look like Igor from Frankenstein. I walked into the clinic at 8:45 am and was able to see a physician within 20 mins. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He prescribed some anti-biotic drops and pills and the stye went away within 48 hours. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. I would recommend this to anybody that has an urgent issue that is maybe not serious enough for an emergency room, but urgent enough to not wait for care. read more

I was really glad to have them in the neighborhood. I sprained my ankle exercising and I couldn't determine the severity of the sprain myself. I was seen pretty much immediately and everyone was really friendly, from the front desk through to the doctor. They took X-rays and let me know it was a simple sprain. They even gave me some info on how to get started exercising once the swelling was gone. The only thing that would have been better is if I could have not hurt myself and avoided the trip altogether :) read more

The PA we worked with had the most wonderful bedside manner. My husband and I asked a ton of questions that I'm sure she's heard a million times, but we never felt rushed. She also listened very carefully to me when I was describing symptoms and made me feel very heard. Very happy with my experience. This is coming from someone who despises the doctor's office (and, to be honest, doctors in general) and avoids doctor visits if possible. However this time I could not ignore the symptoms, and since I am new to town and don't yet have a new PCP, I went here. I went on a Saturday at 9:30 am and was fearing the worst: a room full of sick people. I was pleasantly surprised that I was only one of maybe two or three people that came in and out of the nice, clean waiting room and I was greeted and checked in immediately. I was seen by a nurse within 10 minutes. Within 10 minutes of that I was diagnosed by the physician. She was very patient, and acknowledged that because I don't currently have insurance, she would help me keep costs to a minimum. We finished up and I checked out, and as I was about to walk out the door I thought of another question I'd forgotten to ask. They let me walk right back into the office and both the nurse and physician returned right away to kindly answer my last question. My appointment cost a flat rate of $155, which is their starting price. That does not include prescriptions. read more

Went in with a sore throat and had the nurse test me for strep. She barely touched the back of my throat when she was taking a swab for the rapid strep test. The doctor came in, sat in the corner chair relaxed and told me it was negative. I informed him that I have had strep many times before (I am a teacher) and that I am pretty sure I know it is strep. His response was along the lines of "yes,these tests are not always correct, it also depends on the nurse who swabs it. If they do not get back there it will show a false result". Wonderful. He did not find the need to retest me even when I informed him that she barely swabbed but said he will send the results out. He then wrote a prescription for what he thought it could be. Wonderful. Left and went to pick the prescription up. I asked the pharmacist info about the drug. Always do when it is new to me. He was confused why he would have prescribed me that specific medicine. If it was strep he said it would not help but actually make me feel even worse. I told him to forget it, and not to fill it. I made an appointment with my family doctor's office, knowing she was not there I told them my dilemma. I was able to go in and see their nurse practitioner. She was amazing. Did a proper swab and she did not even have to wait the full time to see it was positive for strep. Gave me my antibiotics scrip and was out the door. Called Physicians back to tell them that they did NOT have to send out my swab because I received a second opinion. They said they would cancel it. FF 2 days later: "HI this is blah blah, calling from Physicians Immediate Care, I am calling to inform you that you tested positive for strep......" Um.Thanks! Yes, I know the tests can be wrong. However, after I told the doctor that she barely swabbed AND I really know my body, he could have redone the rapid test. He just prescribed me a medicine he thought would help. I am still bitter. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! I am updating my review. Here is the edit: I took the medicine that the doctor prescribed me but it made me feel sick so I called and asked for an alternative medication. Typically that wouldn't be an issue with any doctor (i've done it before when the dosage of medication was too high). The nurse told me that in order to get a new prescription, I need to come into the clinic to get re-diagnosed and then I can be written a new prescription. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Why would I have to get re-diahnosed for the same issue?! I am basically forced to either pay for another visit or take this medication that makes me feel sick. THIS PLACE IS ONLY OUT FOR YOUR MONEY. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT go here. Original post: Waste of time and money. While the nurses were friendly, the male doctor I had seen was TERRIBLE. I sort of question whether or not he was an actual doctor because he was so bad. I told the nurse what I thought might be wrong with me and the first thing the doctor says when he walks in after he introduces himself is "yea, you have (insert medical condition here)." He never asked me questions and barely listened to the fact when I told him I went to another doctor the week before for this issue and she ruled it out being that. If a patient tells you that they think it's something, don't assume that it is without checking. Do not go here, I went back in September of this year 2016 for a rash I had never had before, my friend thought it was ringworm. The doctor, Brain Hughes came into my room and the first thing he did was yawn, spoke to me for 5 minutes and just agreed it was ringworm and gave me a prescription for a powerful anti-fungal medication itraconazole. After a week the rash was not gone and I was given a referral to a dermatologist and another prescription for an anti-fungal cream. The dermatologist determined it was pityriasis rosea and it had nothing to do with a fungus. It was a rash you get that simply passes away in a month or two without treatment., When I looked it up the diagnosis was obvious. The medications combined were $160 and after insurance I ended up with a near $530 bill for a misdiagnosis that my insurance covered less than half of. (I also got an x-ray for my back pain but I am willing to pay for that and I'm not complaining about it) But the Dermatologist visit ended up being another $200 bill so in the end the whole experience of dealing with a rash cost me close to $600. I paid that much money to have one doctor misdiagnosis me and another tell me that my rash is untreatable. If I had stayed home and researched more on the internet I would not be $600 poorer and my rash would have gone away on its own. read more

SO glad this new place arrived in the area! They helped me hugely with an asthma flair up. Quick, friendly, clean and efficient. They were very pragmatic in first assessing whether a person with my level of asthma (mild intermittent), and my asthma history (never been intubated), could be treated there or would need a hospital ER. They gave me a nebulizer treatment (felt much better within half an hour), and a plan of action for making sure the asthma continued to subside (asthma can be active for days at a time). They called me the next day to see if I was better, and the discharge papers said to return in 3 days if condition was the same or worse. I tend to think many Physicians' Assts think more holistically than doctors, and indeed the PA did not just want to pump me with steroids, as they do in ERs and in many regular Drs' offices. She instead wanted to see if just one nebulizer treatment would do the trick first (it did), two if needed (it wasn't needed), and then steroids only if necessary. THANK YOU! I was home within an hour, resting as an asthmatic should be, without all the exposure to ER hospital germs! I'm sorry I don't remember everyone's names whom I met, but all three were very friendly, thoughtful, and thorough in the care they provided. read more

Doctors here should not be in practice in this locations. On 3-28 19 went there for a on job back injury.Literally I barely could stand up getting off the chair in front of DR the pain was so intense. I could not lay on the table to get get a xray and had to xray standing up.the DR told me to go back to work the next day with pretty much all restrictions besides sneezing.The next day I got another opinion from a orthopedic surgeon and he commented that DR that said that should not be in practice.He immediately gave me 3 weeks off and begin physical therapy after a week and meds to take.It is now 2 months and still not 100%. To almost put me thru the pain and torture they tried to put me thru is beyond professional care.Warning folks go to a real DR who cares about human suffering unless you enjoy pain. read more

Took my ill child there this week and fairly satisfied with our experience. The facility is of course brand new and spotless. Wait time was reasonable and the young man who obtained my child's vitals was exceptionally personable and professional. A few criticisms 1) Our "provider" was not wearing any kind of name tag and did introduce them self. As the location has "physicians" in the title, I assumed we would be treated by a physician. I am perfectly happy for my child to be treated by a PA or APN - that said, it felt misleading to go somewhere called physicians immediate care and then be treated by another type of provider who did not wear a name tag or introduce them self. 2) The exam my child received was adequate but not as thorough as our pediatrician or the fabulous nurse practitioners at the nearby walgreens at Broadway and Ridge. 3) Our provider did not seem rushed but again didn't have as many helpful tips as I have come to expect from other places Overall, this is probably a fine place to go for routine concerns and the extended hours are nice. That said, I will stick with Walgreens and/or try out the new Lurie Children's immediate care next time. Have also had a good experience at the Peterson Urgent care though have only been there a few times. read more

The place was clean and I was seen quickly. The problem was the doctor. Dr. Hugh (sp)? Was the most demeaning, condescending, and uncaring medical provider I have ever encountered. I won't go into detail on the comments he made but as I was lying down on the table I was holding my jacket as a bit of covering and he grabbed it, ripped it out of my hands, and threw it across the room on a chair! His comments (about a very tragic recent experience) were totally inappropriate and downright rude. He is burned out, bitter, and should not be in a direct service position. I went in yesterday after nearly slicing part of my finger off. Filled out my form and was seen within 10 minutes. They quickly cleaned my finger, and the doctor (Dr. Roach - i'm probably spelling it wrong) came in about 5 minutes later. I can't tell you how friendly she was. We talked about all sorts of random stuff which really made me less nervous as she gave me 9 stitches in my finger. I went in without high expectations and left feeling grateful I have such a nice location with friendly people nearby. Thank you!!!! read more

Great experience. I had a routine issue that I have had several times in my life, and I knew I just needed a bout of antibiotics to clear it-but it was Sunday and I knew I wouldn't be able to get in to see my regular doc until at least weds or thurs. I remembered they just opened this immediate care nearby- so I went there and was seen quickly-Dr. Pilch was personable and understanding and I was out of there with my prescription waiting for me at CVS across the street. I felt better within 12 hours. I am really glad this place is here - I definitely see the benefit of going here as opposed to taking my minor issue to an ER. I will say though, that I have really good insurance and my visit was covered by that, so my positive experience was also because of the affordability. Wasn't sure about going here because I thought that they would send me somewhere else for an Xray. Had been hit and knocked to the ground, in a lot of pain. They have an Xray machine. I told them they ought to advertise that. Now for 5 Stars. Free parking in back. Clean. Staff, friendly and professional( sometimes with health care facilities hard to get both). Took me in room within 5 min. Attended to immediately by Alex. All vitals in less than 10 min. Dr.Pilch came in within 5 min. after that. She was great, both professional and friendly. Have been to Walgreen's service and they sent me to NWM. Been to NWM and got great care but took 3 hours. With Xrays and all was still out in under an hour. I would recommend this location to anyone that needs to see a Dr. I have no idea what they charge(and hope my insurance pays all) but I couldn't have gotten better care anywhere (inc. NWM). Only negative would be their hours. If you need someone after 8PM you have to go somewhere else. If your problem can wait until the next morning, go here. You will get great medical attention and won't spend your entire morning. read more

Dr. Hughes made me very uncomfortable the entire visit. He stood extremely close to me to the point that I wanted the door open. Not only was I uncomfortable, but he was condescending and spoke to me like I was a child. He was very rude and short and at one point, he interrupted me and said "stop talking you haven't told me what's wrong yet." He provided no help, refused to answer my questions, and made my visit a waste of time and money. The rest of the staff was extremely friendly, but due to my experience with Dr. Hughes, I will never be returning to this facility. read more

I wanted to like this place so badly. I read reviews, was excited to be looked at and hopefully find some relief, but unfortunately my experience wasn't very good at all. The lobby is very clean and inviting. I'm guessing this is just because the space is brand new, but maybe the upkeep is just better than most other prime care spots I've been to. It felt like a hospital. I was checked in immediately, filled out a little paperwork, and only had to wait about 5 minutes to get in (at 5pm). The triage nurse was really nice. However, then a PA came in to see me and basically looked at me and said there was nothing she could do to help me there. I would have to see a specialist the next day. This would have been nice to know before I even checked in for a $135 appointment. She was also sick as a dog. Her eyes were completely bloodshot and her lashes had crusties on them. DISGUSTING. I'm sorry, but I just work in an office and when I am that sick I am remanded to stay home. Showing up that way to an URGENT CARE facility?? Irresponsible medical practice no matter how much hand sanitizer you use. They ended up checking my insurance to see if I could afford x-Rays (you know, so they could still send me to a specialist... racket.), and that experience was fine as the original nurse helped me. We will see how the billing process goes, as I just walked out without giving any sort of consent or co-pay. Based on this experience, I'd rather go to an ER. Which I will probably have to whenever I get that sickness the PA had. read more

Let me preface this by saying I'm the wife of a doctor (cardiologist) whose practice is located on the SW side and 'burbs even though we live in Edgewater. We do have a FP in Lakeview (my husband's chief resident from back in the day, in fact), but for urgent but not life-threatening matters we were pretty much up a creek until this center opened. Last Fri. about 5pm I had a "kitchen accident." (Advice: never try to cut an old rock-hard lime with any knife, much less an 8" sharpened chef's knife--sometimes it's okay to throw away food instead). Immediately washed my fingers and applied direct pressure before bandaging them. Dilemma--nobody else was around to drive me to an ER and I was sure I'd need stitches. Remembered Phys. Immediate Care--but since I was still bleeding I didn't think I could walk there fast enough, so I drove the couple of blocks (with one hand). There was a guy ahead of me paying his bill--but as soon as I said "Excuse me, but I'm bleeding" and saw me holding my hand up high, wrapped in a towel, they ushered me right back to an exam room. The RN who admitted and examined me was reassuring and professional--he lavaged the wounds and confirmed I'd need sutures. Dr. Epner then came in to examine me and do the suturing--he was apologetic about the anesthetic injections that needed to be done first and offered me the long or short-acting shots (I chose the former); but he did them quickly and properly. With my fingers numbed, I didn't even feel the stitching. He and the RN worked as a team, and dressed the surgical wounds. They sent me home with enough gauze and stretch tape to get me through the next week, and were able to sell me the antibiotic I needed to take--saving me a trip to CVS. Instructed to come back Sun. morning to get the dressing changed, I was able to walk there this time, still no wait. Different RN (who gave me guidance as to efficient pain mgmt.), and the provider was a PA, but just as courteous and professional--he instructed me on how to change the dressings once or twice daily. Going back Fri. for suture removal. My insurance covered everything but the $70 co-pay and $20 antibiotic (might get reimbursed for the latter), which was a fraction of what I'd have had to pay at an ER; and got in and out far faster. (An ER might have required me to pay for parking, as well as wait in triage so long that sutures might not have been possible). This clinic is definitely an asset to the neighborhood! read more

Fantastic. Was going to go to the Minute Clinic in CVS next door for a sore throat. The wait was an hour. Went outside to see what else was in the area while I waited and saw this place right next door. While I know it was a more expensive than the Minute Clinic (they take insurance but I was paying out of pocket), my wait was 10 minutes, the physical facility was way better, the staff (from front desk to PA to Doc) were awesome. They could have ordered more tests and run up the bill, but did not. Treated me (I was feeling better by the next day) and then actually followed up with a phone call two days later to see if I was feeling better! Other than make house calls, don't know what more they could do. If I ever have some minor ailment again, I'll certainly go back and can't recommend them highly enough. read more
