Membership Pros: a lot of equipment and space to workout! Cons: these jokers are scammers! I had the Qfit membership but realized I was not using all of the services. I also went to another location downtown Salem,which was horrible facility wise (see previous review with pictures). So, I decided to downgrade my membership to the basic. Do you know these jokers said that I had to pay $10 per membership to downgrade? So essentially I would pay $20 to downgrade to basic from the QFit (i.e., $10 for premium and $10 for basic). I ended up cancelling and going beck to planet fitness. These jokers also charged my card when I cancelled without telling me or notifying me for the reason. I checked the my cancellation document and the contract and didnt see anything about the extra money they charged. Not happy with their service. I have attached the contracts, which has nothing about being charged extra money for downgrading memberships other than annual membership fee. read more

After graduating college, I was searching for an affordable and reputable gym in South Salem. Physiq was referred to me by a neighbor. Upon entering the Commercial St. location, I was greeted nicely by the two front desk workers. Ty helped me with my membership & explained everything very well. He was able to answer any of my questions and the process went smoothly! Since then, I've participated in several of the "On-Q" classes. Body pump (Jen), body combat (Jennifer), Pilates (Ingrid), and Body Balance (Paula) are by far my favorite classes. Physiq offers a great selection of free weights! I lift in the early-mornings or mid-afternoons. I have had no problem with waiting for a bench/rack/machine. Saturdays & Sundays are the least busiest days! read more

This club's membership practices are ridiculous. If there were a rating below one-star I would give it. I didn't cancel my membership back when Covid hit in March and the world shut down. When I finally did decide to cancel months later they ignored my email for a month and are trying to charge me fees even after I've cancelled. They also have the gall to ask for donations to pay employees. Where were these employees they are supposed to be paying during the month my email was ignored? Not sure what people expect from a gym with these complaints other than the big crowds..this place has: -updated & functional equipment -available staff -it's always very clean -childcare -convent locations all over.. this place is ridiculous, they have over sold their memberships and it's completely impossible to work out as almost every machine or work out station has kids on their cell phones texting instead of working out and to top it off every now and then they have people who are using 2 or 3 different work stations for supersets again preventing anyone buy them the ability to work out. Then if you want to talk to the staff about it they say there isn't anything they can do and you need to talk to a manager who isn't there until middle of next day. I suggest save yourself the aggravation and find a gym elsewhere that actually takes care of their members and maintains a gym atmosphere instead of a high school lunch room. read more

During the pandemic my membership was on pause. They unpaused it without my knowledge and immediately sent it to a debt collector which screwed up my credit. The membership may be 10 dollars a month but the service charges are a-lot more. The gym has a lot of cool features but in the end it's not worth it. I go to a different small gym in Salem and I've never had a problem with debt collectors because the owners aren't as desperate as Physiq. read more

I joined in Nov of 2020 and paid through march 2021 but due to covid lockdowns and I emailed my cancelation and stopped paying. The only time I was able to visit the gym was the day I joined. Instead of canceling my month-to-month membership, they racked up another 5 months of charges not billing me directly then turned me in to a credit collector. I have called several times I never asked for a refund even though they were closed down most of the time I paid totaling 140. dollars I am a senior on a fixed low income they have damaged my credit and refuse to remove the 5 extra months' charges. And in order to speak to management, I was told I had to email them. The Gym seemed lovely but since I never once used it paid for months. With the damage they have caused to my credit I am unable to buy a car or move two things I am in dire need of. Thanks for treating a disabled widow so well. read more

This is by far the best and most affordable gyms I have been to. I was a guest here for a week and loved the environment. At its busiest the gym was still spacious and you could still find something to do. At its slowest, the gym is yours! They have plenty of cardio machines, squat racks, and dumbbells. I was able to access the training rooms and hydro massages and it was simply amazing. Better than any gym I have been to in Texas, Arizona, and California. Keep it up guys and ladies! read more

South Salem... This gym is perfect for the New Years Resolution tourists or those just starting out.. Ive been a member almost 3 years (I have several gym memberships as theres not a single one that has all I need) and I decided that after being charged for an annual fee this year (despite being unable to utilize my full membership benefits last year for almost 6 months due to their renovations. Which took away equipment as well as areas I normally depend on to get my workout done. Which also created the gym to be extremely crowded and difficult to navigate. Many times I just left and went to 24hr fitness or planet fitness so i could get a full workout in.) that i would request a discount on my annual fee because of the inconveniences. For my inability to utilize my full paid membership for all those months. But nope. It was a simple and quick no. So I said then maybe it'd be time to just get a refund and end my membership. I was told there will be no refunds and I can do as I wish. Then I was told that because my "30 day notice" on the first of February wouldn't be over until my next payment for march would come out, that i was going to be stuck paying that one too (which was just taken out today! Over 30 days!) They also have a point system, which ive never spent a single point and then said id like to cash in 1200 of them to get a free month for my last month and i was denied lol... unreal... such desperation for a little bit of money... So Physiq, enjoy that $80 you basically scammed me out of. Ive had a 24hr fitness membership since back when they just bought out Family fitness center, whom i was with at the time. Do the math on how many years that is. Ive had a planet fitness membership almost 8 years now as well. My point? Im a life long member type of guy. I hope you enjoy your $80! Now do the math on the $300 a year you just lost, factoring I love having options. Your desperation for money is painfully obvious and you obviously need it bad enough to screw people over. Buy yourself something nice with it! So I really did some thinking about why I chose going here instead. I am not sure. Convenience at that time of day after work i can go? Possibly the only real good reason I could think of. They are not very well equipped with options on workout machines. They lack even basic back, shoulder and delt workout machines and only have a couple options for legs. Their dumbbell selection is limited to say the least and they buy cheap gear that's always splitting from poor craftsmanship. Hell, I have 4 manufacturers I could've hooked them up with for quality gear for good prices... they allow their benches to wear out and crack and are not quick to repair. Which sucks because they only have one of each machines at times... I definitely will not be recommending Physiq to anyone and the 13 Ive referred have already started cancelling, well before their annual bogus fee hits. I worked out here for about 3 months never had any problems until I approached the staff scared and shaking about a man taking photos of me I was in socks because I had forgot my gym shoes after asking for help I was yelled at about my socks and told I had to leave because of them by the manager who didn't seem to care at all about the man harassing and recording me (who by the way was wearing jeans and a sweater not in dress code ms.manager ) I then had to ask two seperate times to be walked out if you're a woman who works out alone please don't come here they are not concerned about your safety Especially not the lady In charge read more

Great Gym! Especially for the low cost. I only have 2 small problems with it. One is that is is always very crowded when I go there so it is hard to use the weight benches, but that's not really the gym's fault. Would give 5 stars if the staff could stop playing annoying rap music, lol....but some people like it so that's fine. I come from the industry so I tend to be more critical on gyms but with that said and looking at the other reviews I can honestly say that if you're looking for a new gym... keep looking! Don't let the low monthly rate draw you in! For a newer facility I find it oddly poorly maintained but that's not my main problem. They also have some key equipment that is only available in their "trainer only room," (rowers/dynamax balls etc)... this is valuable equipment that should be made available to the general member OR divided between the users as they have multiple of each. I also see VERY few people getting personal training so that equipment goes largely unused in anyway... and while this is irritating and a poor use of recourses, this is not my main problem. It's typically busy during peak times... this is normal and no... not my main problem. This list could go on a bit but here IS my main problem!?ZERO client value and/or customer service!!! From the very beginning during the enrollment process I was treated as though it was my privilege to work out there. Most interactions with the staff are impersonal, sometimes to the point where you feel like you're inconveniencing them by approaching them at all. They clearly have no emphasis on the member experience or retention in general. A good gym is clean, well maintained and has the things you need at a price that reflects its value. A GREAT gym creates a culture where you WANT to be there and that you as the client feel that you are the number one priority! This is gym has NONE of those things! read more

My wife and son are both "essential workers" who have to enforce the mask mandates. I have come here for a number of years. But when both of them moved to a different gym because of lack of masks, then I eventually cancelled. Clean. Bright. But had to leave. I didn't like the 30 day cancel policy. This place.... Is terrible. A very minuscule step above Planet Fitness. They claim to have "personal trainers" but my initial thought of a personal trainer is someone who has a general idea of how to get someone into shape. This is not the case with the boneheads that get paid by members to "train" them. In addition, these "personal trainers" need a personal trainer for them!! Pros: new equipment. People of every age and fitness goal. Front desk staff are awesome. Tanning and hydro included for $20 a month. Can't really beat that! Cons: you can't get a machine from 4-6:30 on weekdays, so don't bother going at that time. I've heard that the owner of the gym mistreats his employees from almost all of the staff. My feedback is directly for the owner. This gym has a lot of potential. I joined for the perks like the hydro massage bed and the compression suits. The staff is always super friendly but they are not properly trained. I was super disappointed to find out that the locations don't even have all of the compression suit pieces. One of the gyms has all the pieces but it's a large man's suit which is frankly dangerous for someone my size to use. The arms are too long and once it blows up with air I can't get myself out of the suit. I have mentioned it several times to the staff but I don't know where it gets blocked in the chain of command. It could be a great gym I wish the owner would just come in and make sure all the equipment is running that they have all the pieces so that when I'm paying the highest tier I know that I can get the perks available to me. This and a couple training sessions for his staff would go a long way in helping them do their job and having the best gym in town . The gym offers points and those points give you perks like free training sessions. This is a great feature but the staff needs to know how to implement them I couldn't even just make a straight up appointment because they're not sure how to use the system. This is no fault of theirs. I will put the caveat in that they've probably had turnover since COVID so maybe there's just a learning curve going on. Overall it's a great gym But the pieces that separate it from the others that I like aren't operating functionally. Hoping the owner sees this so he can make his gym even better :) read more

Seriously, best gym I've ever been to. The prices, most of the staff, the equipment, the amenities, wow! I, too, love the media room, to watch a movie while pounding out cardio in the dark is comfortable, which you don't feel too often at a gym... Not me anyways. I've had to cancel my membership and holy cow it was actually EASY. I've had to cancel other gym memberships in the past and it's awful. This gym, I got on their website and sent an email. Answered a couple questions to verify via email, done! That was cool. The hydro massage beds are relaxing and tanning is super cool (I love how you can hook up your music to the booth and jam to your music during the process. Parking is a breeze... See below for gripes. Suggestions? Sure, here are some: Their samples tasted better then the shake when I bought one. Another incident, one guy gave my friend and I a sample and said it was chocolate peanut butter. My friend said it tasted like cookies, staff then admitted he mixed some of that in there too to play around... That tells me the shake he is promoting as "chocolate peanut butter," is not indeed chocolate peanut butter. Commonsense goes a long way, folks. Need more staff monitoring the Media Room regularly to check on the video... I've worked out with the 'Play Menu' circulating countless times and one time an action movie was playing and once I was done with my workout and pulled out my earbuds, I realized the place was completely empty because the volume was literally deafening! I'm not comfortable with the tanning booths, it should be mandatory to wear flip flops in there and stand on them so people don't spread fungi, it's gross. They started having each person tanning spray the handle and floor and use a hand towel to wipe it off... The SAME hand towel to wipe BOTH. DOUBLE GROSS now there's foot fungi on the door handle, guys. C'mon. Waiting for tanning and massage. It's chaotic, it's awkward... Staff don't write down names sometimes, there's no where to sit and when I sit around the corner in the front chairs, I get forgotten about. I'm thinking, DMV number system! Take a number and we will announce your number and display your number in red on a large screen so you know it's your turn. Just being proactive. Lastly, turning left out of your parking lot takes a whole lot of time. You guys, being so awesome, are drawing a considerable amount of traffic, and it is going to cause an accident. amenities and staff are ok but it's always extremely busy when i go. sometimes it's to the point where i can't find a parking spot or walk right out the door because there's no machines available worth using. also it's worth noting it's NOT $10 a month unless you pay for the full year up front and then there's still maintenance fees and sign up fees. also its not open 24 hours even though it says it is on apple maps and many other places which is incredibly misleading. i assume they stopped doing 24 hours because of covid or staffing shortages but at this point there's no excuse. they need to open a new location in salem to alleviate the overcrowding or stay open 24 hours. i will be shopping for a new gym:( read more

Best gym in Salem hands down! I've lifted at all courthouse locations, epic, edge, and sadly even a planet fitness. Physiq by far blows all those gyms out of the water. Has everything you will need. From cardio to power lifters. Trainers are all nice. Classes are always going. Daycare if you have kids. Movie room to do cardio to.They even have an app to track progress and get rewards for working out. Those reviews who complain about it being busy from 4-7...well what do you expect during that time. I'm baaack to review again! I'm at my six month mark of training with the fantastic Linsey Garin. I started the Qfit membership five months ago. I do a class everyday. I do my Lindsey lifts every day. I've lost 6% body fat. I've gained almost 5 pounds of lean muscle. I've gained the self confidence I missed so longingly. I've also gained friendships. I've gained strength and consistency. I've lost so many insecurities. I've lost my out of shape attitude.... although she's still in there. My fitness minded self is in charge. I'm so very happy. I Always go during the day so it's not too insanely busy but have seen it completely packed past 4, my membership is not a bad deal for $20 per month. Get tanning and hydro massage rooms as a part of my package and able to take part in the classes like yoga and Pilates. For the most part the staff is friendly and nice and ask you about your experience but I can see how some people would see some of the staff as unapproachable. But you're going to find that anywhere these days. Hard to get good customer service anywhere really. So Thank you for keeping your membership affordable. Today was the last day I will ever patronize this gym! All thanks to one SUPER "trainer"! This clown told my husband and I we were lifting to loud ..... LIFTING TOO LOUD?!?!? You have got to be joking me. He said we were setting the weight (we were deadlifting) down to loudly and that if we couldn't set it down any quieter we shouldn't lift as heavy .... NOT LIFT AS HEAVY?!? So now that he has discriminated against the type of lifting I was told was fine to practice here when I signed up here a month ago( power lifting). So this guy would rather we injure our selves by lowering this loaded bar of 300-400 lbs slowly, rather than to do it correctly! There is literally no way it were slamming the weight when it was lowered at a rate to be repped over again! This guy has made any future at this gym nonexistent. I will NEVER BE DISCRIMINATED AND DISRESPECTED BY AM EMPLOYEE ! Let alone one who works at a gym full of people taking selfies and show up for attention! This LANDON fellow stole any stars this gym would have achieved in a small interaction. He was so unpleasant we didn't even finish out workout! And we're still expected to pay an entire month further. We will be taking out business else where. I guess the moral of the store is. Go to a $10 you'll get $10 service and $10 patrons! read more

do not join phisiq fitness! this place is crowded and dirty. it will cost you more than $10 a month if you try to cancel membership. they will tell you to go their website to do the cancellation of membership, but will never officially email you a confirmation on it. they will come back to you with email and asking for past due membership + late fees (which is 3 times of monthly membership). when you confront them, the managment will play the never receive any cancellation notice and their is no trails of anything. you might think $10 is cheap, watch out. they will find a way to get more money out of you. be aware people! read more

I have never given a review good or bad but I took the time to make this one. once you join this club they make it difficult or impossible to make an exit. I recently moved out of the area, making it hard to return to cancel membership. and when I finally do make it back to cancel they keep charging my account. why can it be so easy to join and so hard to cancel. why do you have to be there in person for one. why do you have to continue to pay after you cancel for two. customer service is a joke there for three. read more
