Visited this gym on a Saturday late morning. I had two sisters visiting me from Southern Illinois, one which had a planet fitness membership in Casey was working the front desk and was extremely helpful and friendly.Nice guy and conscientious employee and representative for planet Fitness. Gym itself was very clean and well stocked with good equipment. . The women's restroom was very clean along with the locker room. I took advantage of the tanning booth twice and was very impressed with how clean everything was and the process to booking. The room was easy with a little help from the front desk. They have two total body enhancement rooms available, which I used the first day. It's supposed to help work muscle groups, legs, abs, arms, and glutes energizing 10 minute workout. So today was my third time visiting planet fitness, using the treadmill and the elliptical to get started. Good time to go. It's around 3:30 to 430 hardly anybody there which was really nice. As I was leaving the gym seemed to fill up. I suppose people getting off work. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of some of the classes with the fitness instructors. All in all, I highly recommend this gym. The price seems very reasonable. It was a good experience. read more

Truly the worst experience ever. Encountered a young guy working there who seemed perplexed every time we would ask him a question. It was taking him away from his phone. We were told we did not have to wear glasses for the red night therapy, wrong. It definitely has messed with my eyes and not in a good way. The girl this morning could not figure out how to do the locker and walked away from it. I'm new to using these things. It was probably one of the worst experiences ever. I do not complain. This was awful. I usually go to the Beaumont California club. They are amazing there! And this was truly awful! read more

Been going to this location for three years. I find the gym is clean and restroom maintained well. Staff is helpful and courteous. Members seem like family. Just like any business there are small problems here and there but get resolved in a timely period. Great value if you just want to maintain. There are many of us that go every day. read more

I pay for black card membership the massage chairs have not been working for months and management does not seem to care

We have belonged to this club for over 5 years. Great facility and great staff. However...... The owner or property manager does not address the "homeless" campers and sketchy people loitering. Walmart next door has a security service that keeps their side clear of trash and vagrants. Planet fitness and US chef store do not. It is very uncomfortable for early patrons. Signs are posted everywhere. Call the police. You'll notice other businesses don't have this problem. read more

I enjoy the 24 hour nights so I can come after work at midnight. It's not 7 days a week yet but close to it. The staff is super friendly & helpful. Everyone needs some Beauty Angel Total Body Enhancement in their life! Feels amazing before a workout, after a workout or just on its own. And finally a place that cleans the tanning booths so they're ultra clean & well cared for. Really happy to find this location. Now they just need one in Dallas! read more

I was a member at this club for nearly two years. COVID hit, the club closed, and life got challenging. Just as the club was reopening, my card on file expired. They sent me a text saying there was an issue with my payment, since I hadn't updated my card. A few weeks later I went into the club and was shocked to find my account had been SENT TO COLLECTIONS and my MEMBERSHIP TERMINATED... TWO WEEKS after I was notified my payment didn't go through!! I have never dealt with a company who has sent an account to collections so fast, let alone a gym who's been closed for nearly a year and during COVID! Not once did they attempt to resolve this before sending it to collections with the exception of a text message. I would have gladly paid the late fee and kept my membership, but there's no way I will ever join a Planet Fitness after this experience. This speaks volumes about what they think of their members. Great customer service, and overall experience exceeds what you pay for!! This is nice since typically you get less or no-more than what you pay for a gym membership. They're great at maintaining cleanliness, as well as operation/safety updates to equipment, which is more than I can say for other local gyms in which I payed 6-times-more to be a member of. The staff members I interact with virtually daily are kind, considerate, and reflect my own positive attitude! This is important, since it's never easy for me to be motivated to exercise when I'm frustrated. A++ to the management and team of this location! read more

Big yikes at this location. Two of the female workers are hostile and very unprofessional. The gym should be a fun and safe place for members and the two 20 something year Olds on a power trip really made the experience terrible. I've been going to this location for a couple months and loved it but after yesterday and today I have other thoughts. Planet fitness please train these employees better or hire people who make it a safe environment. 0/10 would recommend this location. Very unprofessional. read more

It was easy to start the membership. The gym was nice and cleanly. I stopped coming many months ago; I just wasn't exercising regularly enough to justify a membership. When I decided to cancel, I was told to come in person, but I live in Albany now. Just being told to cancel in person had my spidey senses tingling, and I wondered if this would end up being simple or a pain in the spinneret. But that's a bit dramatic, so I thought, "Surely this gym, with its advanced apps and telephone systems can assist me in a cancellation over the phone or online." Alas, my spidey senses were correct and my spinneret began to ache. So I was told to send in a confirmed letter to my home gym, because evidently we live in the 50s. When I asked the difference between a letter and a confirmed letter, I was told it's just a physical, handwritten letter (y'all making me nervous, talking like I need a notary or something). Anyways, that's the whole thing. I sent it in yesterday, I guess we'll see if it's confirmed enough to cancel, or if there's gonna be another bureaucratic reason to take more of my money and stoke the spinneret pains. At least I'm not the guy who got sent to collections. read more

The treatment at this gym by some staff/management is TERRIBLE: The manger randomly decided that outside equipment was not acceptable and targeted me (even though many other people do the same) and told me I couldn't use my own property even though I had been using it in that gym since it opened 6 months ago. The manager also likes to micromanage noise. For those of you that breathe loudly, accidentally drop anything, etc. he will either rudely approach you (or send poor desk people to do it) and tell you to be quiet or they'll sound an alarm designed to shame you. PF claims it's "judgment-free," but it is extremely judgmental and rude to people who do not quietly, passively workout or those who question their weird, authoritarian methods to control their members' behavior. I've hated this gym forever because the equipment is very low-quality and limited; it's always too hot inside; and they let the trainers overtake large portions of the gym at the exclusion of others. But now after their recent, unacceptable lack of customer service, I am looking for a new gym and am happy to discourage people from this garbage gym. Try ANY other gym before PF!!! read more

Easy to sign up for...right?? Try quitting, even DURING the coronavirus pandemic. I first checked to see if I could stop my membership via their website or app. You know, it being the Twenty-First Century, right? Nope. Then I called. Do it over the phone, right?? Nope! No, instead - and remember this is DURING the coronavirus crisis - you have to either go into Planet Fitness in person, or send them a Certified Letter. I've long thought that PF was the exception to gym insanity rules. I was wrong. This is not only wrong, it seems disconnected from reality and potentially unhealthy, especially for those of us who are older and who take public transit. read more

Only giving three stars because what gym opens at 10am.. and closes at 7pm that's wild. Just curious what they expected with that? People like to work out in the morning to start the day and 10?! That's wild. Plus if you work and get off you won't even make it in time. To the pros about this place is I've noticed it pretty empty for the most part a lot is available to use and I do love the locker rooms I wish all planet fitnesses were dressed up this nice and clean. Staff seemed to be normal nothing out of the regular. Showers could be hotter but least the this on is hot in general because the other location in Salem has had cold water showers in the locker room for over a month now. SO if you came here to shower try and get here in time then going to the other location. Good location here as well lots around this area read more

Ridiculously frustrating experience this morning. A friend of mine is in town from out of state and this was the only time we could see each other. We decided to take advantage my brand new membership (literally, I've only been once before today) and work out together. She walked in and asked for a day pass since I didn't have the higher tiered membership. Jackson immediately cut her off stating they don't do that. She was like, the website says you do? He says not us. Not our franchise. She says do you have a trial? Website also says you can do a trial day to see if you like the gym. He says nope, not our franchise. He was straight forward and not friendly or sympathetic at our situation of wanting to work out together. We finally landed on me upgrading my membership and her paying me the difference so she could join. But then that also required me sending her a message, her getting her ID checked and a photo taken? To join for one day with me? It all was just such a mess and a terrible second impression for a brand new member. I'm sure there is fine print stating that locations may vary but Jackson was giving zero hoots about the discrepancy. When she (somewhat sarcastically) asked if she could leave to get her water bottle and be allowed back in, he said yes and he can also refuse service if he chose to. I belonged to Planet Fitness years ago but my location did not have rowing machines so I allowed the membership to lapse. This particular location is new and does have rowing machines (yippee!) This is also a large location so it has a separate "black card" members lounge. I do like this because the hydro beds and massage chairs are not in the hustle and bustle of the main club. The lounge also has its own television. The front desk staff is lots of fun and the classes seem to be popular. Being situated next door to a WalMart and Dutch Coffee Bros take away any reason you may have for skipping a workout. This is also a training location so emphasis is on customer service. Soo disappointed in the customer service at the south salem location. I only go to tan right now due to COVID was so excited to pop in and get my rays! I turned on the bed to find a bulb completely out. I asked to exchanged and Mauricio laughed in my face after shrugging shoulders and saying nothing can be done.. while LAUGHING AT ME he said "one bulb isn't going to ruin ur tan" basically in other words telling me I'm ridiculous and petty for making a complaint .. so I became upset asked to speak with manager and HE LIED TO ME SAYING HE WAS MANAGER AND COME TO FIND OUT HES ONLY THE AASISTANT AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY NUMBER FOR ANYONE HIGHER UP. Worst fitness club and business practice in existence. I was traveling out of the country and tried to cancel my membership, and they refused to do so over the phone, nor via email. They said I had to cancel in person, which obviously I couldn't do. I was forced to notify my bank and issue a stop payment on the recurring bill. Unacceptable. read more

I'm so thankful that there is a planet fitness on Commercial! Only $20 for a membership and I can bring a guest, there are so many treadmills and bikes and whatnot that even when it's been "busy" inside, it doesn't feel like it. I LOVE the 30 minute circuit and also I love the tanning beds. Totally worth the $20. read more
