Weight room so often (younger men) sit on one machine for half an hour, scrolling on their phone 90% of the time, while others are obviously waiting to do a few reps. Women's steam room has been dangerously hot lately. Half the shower curtain rings are missing. Often women in sweaty gym clothes in sauna, with phones, sometimes working out. Many people think the rules do not apply to them and they are not enforces.

There is also a significant gap between the extremely positive online reviews and what many members experiencing day to day. Which raises questions about how accurately those reviews reflect the gym's culture. With talks of free memberships and "prices" in return. A gym should feel welcoming, respectful, and focused on fitness. Unfortunately, this location appears to fall short, and many people may be better served choosing a different facility. I also went to another location downtown Salem,which was horrible facility wise (see previous review with pictures). So, I decided to downgrade my membership to the basic. Do you know these jokers said that I had to pay $10 per membership to downgrade? So essentially I would pay $20 to downgrade to basic from the QFit (i.e., $10 for premium and $10 for basic). I ended up cancelling and going beck to planet fitness. These jokers also charged my card when I cancelled without telling me or notifying me for the reason. I checked the my cancellation document and the contract and didnt see anything about the extra money they charged. Not happy with their service. I have attached the contracts, which has nothing about being charged extra money for downgrading memberships other than annual membership fee.

As far as gyms go, this is by far the nicest MMA gym in the area. I dont know of any other gym with a spring board floor catered to MMA and fitness. The equipment is top notch with a variety of bags and cardio equipment. You can walk into this newer gym and work out side by side with world class athletes. The best part is, you dont have to be a world class athlete to train here! The ambiance here is like a big family in addition to being family friendly. As a beginner to the sport of MMA, i found the DaJoGen school of MMA to be a great way to condition myself for my triathlon season and i didnt feel like i was lost in the class. 3. ***WARNING!!! Its addicting and probably the best fitness training you'll get. At any given time, you can be training with people of all professions from active military soldiers and professional fighters there for specific training to college students and house wives there for fitness. Now keep in mind you need to be a Salem Hospital employee to be a member but the dues are good (30 a month, less for longer plans) and the equipment is passable. All the free weights you need and a good mix of the rest. 5 treadmills (3 good) and 4 ellipticals (2 good) and a few other odds and ends. Normally the gym is pretty empty which I enjoy because I'm not one to enjoy fighting for machine time or having my workout disrupted because i have to reconfigure. The TV situation is pretty bad and the music situation isn't great either. But bring you mp3 player and get some lasik surgery and you'll be fine. Just put the weights back where they belong when your done people! Also the gym steward is awesome and will help you with classes and workout routines etc. If your looking for a meat market where you spend 60 bucks a month for a pool you never use and 20 machine that will never see a drop of your sweat and isn't located centrally to your lifestyle then you should probably pass on this deal.
