HIGHLY RECOMMENDED REASONABLE & FAIR PRICE EXCELLENT REPAIR I dropped my phone this afternoon and cracked it and was afraid it would break apart. I called PHYX and was told they were open until 7 p.m. and I could come in. PHYX is located in the beautiful and historic building which was part of the former Springfield Armory where there is plenty of secure and spacious parking. Frank, the owner, is very nice, friendly, and skilled. He replaced the screen on my phone while I waited, which was only about 15 minutes, and now my phone looks like new again. in all honesty if i could give this place a negative 5 stars i would. my friend came here after his phone broke and they tried to charge him 60$ after not doing anything to the phone. they gave it back to him just as broken (if not more) than before. the main guy we talked to (weird ass thing on his forehead, you can't miss it) was so disturbingly rude to my friends and i. talking down to us, raising his voice, and THEN to top it all off he called the cops on us. he told them we we're being "unruly" customers when we were being calm and trying to have a normal conversation, and he resorted to violence. Thief! Extortionist! Horrible customer service! Fraud! The company and owner Frank is still horrible in all manner of business in 2025. Brought my computer in to be serviced, and I was quoted $60-$70, and then when it was "ready" I was charged $120. According to Frank my graphics card was broke so he replaced it "for free" with a much older, slower card. Frank and his team removed one of my 16gb RAM sticks and didn't tell me anything about it until I asked when I noticed. He said it was also broke (why wasn't this in the garbage with my broken $700 graphics card). He also said on the phone there was a power wire missing that he replaced "for free". He did not say that he unilaterally decided to replace my entire 850 watt gold power supply unit with a no name 500 watt unit. So all in all, he attempted to strip my PC of a RAM stick (which does work btw), replaced my $700 graphics card (which also does work) with a very old one, and he swapped out my 850 watt gold rated power supply for a cheap 500 watt. All he needed was a case, a CPU and motherboard and he could have built a very nice computer. On top of all that, he wouldn't even let me look at the "work" he did for double the price he quoted until I paid! He also refused to give me my power supply back without paying another $50!!! Maybe this is the only way to build PCs for profit now: strip the PCs that are brought in, replace their parts with interior ones or none at all, tell the customer they're broke, and use them to build new PCs for unknowing customers. Some people would buy items broken Some people would have him fix it too and it would end up more broken Some people would just look without buying and he would have an issue. Never again. And the main reason is that I brought in a like-new Nintendo Switch with a broken charging port and received a very scratched console a month later. The Nintendo sd card was broken & half the screws were missing that hold it together!! The screen saver was not replaced. I suppose it's irrelevant due to the damage on the replacement, that shouldn't even have been necessary. I wasn't made aware that the console was being sent off site for repair. On day 11, he offered to cancel the repair and give my son's Switch back. It was janky, but my he could still play it, with the plug at an angle. But then he actually wouldn't return it to me, which is when I found out it someone else had it. On Day 13 I was told it was ready. I brought it home & my son tried to play his game. It won't load. None of them will. The touch screen doesn't work & the sd card isn't reading either. So, being in quarantine due to covid, I chanced it and brought back the Switch that is now more broken than when I initially brought it in. 15 more days (that's 28 total) I pick up my console. (How does a like new console wind up with a broken port? Lightning plugs don't fit in usb c ports, no matter how many times you try) The screen was gouged, I complained and was told it was the cheapest he could find. I was literally speechless. Before leaving I inspected everything about my once new console and each issue I was met with an exasperated groan and reminded how much fixing my son's switch has cost HIM. I was offered a generic sd card to replace the Nintendo branded one that was literally cracked in half. TL;DR Don't expect things to return to you in the condition they were in. These people are beyond unprofessional. I called to get a quote. They hung up on me. I called back and the male on the phone was short, rude and unprofessional. I got the quote. I had a better one so didn't pursue. They proceed to CALL ME BACK and tell me I am rude. First and foremost I work in service industry and am not rude to people bc I know what it's like. I call back and leave a vm for a manager to call me back. I get a call, from a very very young female voice. Tbh, I think this guy gave my number to his friend to call me to play like the manager. She was unhelpful and only wanted to defend her friend, not taking any accountability for the employees behavior. At no point is it okay for their employee to call me back and harass me. I purchased a new phone on metro T-Mobile. In order to do the smart switch I have to replace the charging port on my existing phone this place was recommended to me.. Honestly so unprofessional I came here to replace my charging port Friday for $70 the man who helped me fixed my LCD display as well for $50 with another broken screen which I was grateful for. What I came there for the charging port didn't even last a day and unfortunately on new years weekend. So i waited till Monday to come in and explain to them it still wasn't charging. This guy threatened to assault my wife because she wanted her phone back. My wife brought her phone to this establishment to get her screen for her Iphone fixed on a Friday afternoon. He told her to come back and in a hour. When she came back a hour later, his worker stated that he had been arrested and her phone hadn't been fixed, asked her to wait till Monday to get her phone back. My wife then asked to get her phone back because she couldn't wait all weekend to get her phone. She would get it fixed elsewhere. The employee refused to hand it over which resulted in an argument. We waited till Monday to go get the phone. I went into the store hearing the employee telling the mailman about the situation that occurred on Friday. I ask her was the phone fixed because we were here to pick it up. She stated to store was closed and we had to come back. I simply asked her if she can just give me the phone so we can get it fixed elsewhere. She refused so after a brief discussion. I went to my truck to get my phone to call the police. While doing that the owner Frank Tate was entering the store yelling making threatening physical jesters toward my wife!!! This was the worst experience EVER!!! I paid PHYX for a new screen for my iphone. Easy drop off and fixed the following day. Worked fine and looked great for a few months until the new screen started to discolor. I brought it back for them to take a look at the screen they just replaced but refused to diagnose the problem without another $100 payment and insisted I had dropped the phone, which I hadn't. Refused to to shell out more money so I took to another repair shop to fix. Sure enough the technician opened the phone and showed me the plastic was still on the inside of the replaced screen and was causing the phone to have problems. Place is a fucking joke! Went there a few weeks ago with my smashed iphone xs max thinking it was beyond the point of being fixed, looking to buy a used iphone. Guy sells me an iphone XR for $290 after offering me one first for $260 then having their "new girl" tell me that the face id on the $260 phone doesn't work. So I pay $290 and I leave my broken xs max there for them to determine whether or not it's fixable and if I can get some money back for it. I went back the next day and to my surprise I saw my smashed phone in brand new condition. I had had some problems logging back into my accounts on the new phone so I asked how much they would've charged me to fix my phone and if they would consider taking the one back I had bought the previous day and giving my phone back instead. The owner agreed to do an even trade with me. The phone was fine, however the screen would glitch, or flash here and there and then the speaker didn't work great, anyone on FaceTime or speaker phone couldn't hear me at all. I texted Frank and he told me to bring it in they would take a look. So today I woke up took my phone off the charger and theres a line all the way from top to bottom down the right side of my screen and the screen doesn't work. I brought it in he told me to come back around 1. When I got there they told me the back of my phone was smashed, (which had just been previously replaced and to my knowledge wasn't smashed), and that my phone needed a whole rework and that they have me a deal, $200 instead of $240. I was never consulted with if I even wanted to do this couple hundred dollar fix! They just went ahead and did it. I had no money on me my boyfriend had to lend it to me to even get my phone from them because he wanted me to leave it there until I did have the money! So after paying the $200 I was a bit irate and the owner also engaging in an argument back with me preceded to threaten me and follow me outside until he saw my boyfriend out there. So we got in the car, my screen doesn't work at all! Now I have to go back into this horrible place and the owner precedes to tell me that they "have the upper hand now" and "now we can tell you to go fuck yourself so how about you go fuck your self or ask us nicely to fix your phone" so after paying $200 I had to stand there and say "please make my phone work" which was the closest thing they were getting to nice after all the money theyve robbed a single mom of for these cheap ass parts they are putting in these phones but that's besides the point. They then refused to let me wait for my phone and told me I needed to go "cool off". So I got the phone back thought everything was great and now I'm home this evening go to take a picture of my daughter, my camera that was in perfect working condition prior to bringing it to them now is completely black and doesn't work. I've texted, I've called the store, the texting number, gotten no response, super super professional. So I will be there bright and early with a couple Springfield Police officers and I will absolutely be filing a report. read more

Horrible service! My son went there to have his iPhone screen repaired and when it came time to pay the owner refused to let him or his mother to check the phone prior to payment. When my sons mother was able to look at the phone, he pushed her and snatched the phone out of her hands before she could open it claiming she was trying to steal the phone. That whole show was to hide the fact that he not only installed a screen that isn't a iPhone product, but that he factory reset the phone when I wasn't needed causing a loss of all info. I wanted to share one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a small business. Last week we bought 2 refurbished iPads from this place. They were for the kids so I wasn't okay with buying new. One of them works great no issues. Well as I was setting up the second one, I noticed that the screen was not functioning properly, I couldn't press some of the buttons and the screen would flicker and have a mind of its own in the middle of setting up an app for my daughter. I took a video of the issue and sent it to the owner of the store. It was less than 6 hours after purchase that we were having an issue. He told me to bring the iPad back to the store and he would look at it the next day. I asked if we could exchange the iPad for a new one of the same value. He said we have no others available. I said okay I understand if the same kind isn't available and if there is a price difference I am okay with paying that, I just am not comfortable keeping a unit that is having issues within the first couple of hours , as well as time to wait for it to be looked at and fixed. He told me to stop and follow his lead and he's leaving it at that because he doesn't have the energy. I was shocked at the response but I left it and went back to the shop the next day. When I got there I again asked if he had any other units? With the lack of customer service I was not comfortable leaving a unit that I had already paid for and walking out with nothing, from someone who has so far had no customer service and earned no trust. Yes he offered to fix it but as I said the trust for me to leave a unit already paid for was not there. I had said to him that I am not too happy because when I buy a product or service I expect it to work. He then started to go off. "That's what's wrong with people in this country. You guys have this attitude of entitlement" completely shocked I said I am not entitled, I work hard for my money and expect when I use it to purchase items for my kids that they actually work! At this point I had given no attitude, I did not raise my voice or anything. He continued to tell me that I need to leave and send my husband back because he wasn't dealing with me. I told him that the customer service was awful and I just wanted a working unit. I said if you go to the grocery store and buy food and it's rotten what would you do, would you eat it? He said that's irrelevant we are not eating these iPads. I told him it was the SAME concept. So I told him just fix it because I was losing my patience. He screamed that now I made him get out of his chair and I wasn't going to tell him what to do and now he's no longer doing business with me. That he had no energy to do this back and forth thing at the end of his long week. Also that is stuck because he's the owner there is no manager or cooperate or 800 number to call and complain, it was only him! I had left the iPad on the counter and said to just fix it let either one of us know when it is fixed , then I walked out. He broughut the iPad out of the store and put it on the ground and said lm not fixing this!!!!! I left because I was going to absolutely lose my mind on him and I didn't want to be that person. After being disrespected and screamed at by the owner I left. I told my husband to go the next day as he was working late that night. So he went back Saturday calm cool and collective and the first thing the owner frank said was I'm going to have to charge you for the way she acted yesterday!!! My husband was like listen I'm the one who bought the iPad I'm coming in here calm, can you please just fix it. I'm not paying an extra $30 for you to fix it when you sold it to me broken. He then proceeded to yell at him and continue to go back and forth. He said every time someone complains amor called the cops I charge them more. So he admitted to doing this to other customers and this is not the first time someone has had to call the cops on him because we didn't know what else to do. My husband left and we called the Springfield police department to see if they had an available office to assist with just getting a working unit or just refund me at this point because his business was run so poorly. The officer came and said I already know what this is about this has been an issue at this place multiple times before. They are unsure how he is still in business because he is horrible. As soon as the officer walked in with my husband the owner says ," I'm not scared that your here" and the officer looked at my husband and said see that's bad business. The officer and my husband then stepped outside and were talking about how to proceed with small claims court and the owner decided to grab the paperwork and come outside and say you signed this paper that says you can't bring me to court! I rarely write reviews and dont remember the last time I wrote a negative review. However, my experience with the owner of this shop was disappointing and showed a total lack of regard for his customers and showed no interest in customer service. I brought my phone in for a screen replacement after I dropped the phone cracking the screen. The owner was on the phone with a potential customer giving them directions to the shop and there was clearly a lack of understanding so he started to yell at the caller, hung up, and rolled his eyes. When I picked up my phone i came back about 20 minutes early because I also wanted to shop for a case and was greeted with a snap "you're too early. I told you two hours". When the phone was finished (on time) he handed ir back to me and it was a different color. My phone was black and he replaced the glass backing with an ugly neon blue without any discussion or explanation. When I asked him about it he snapped again, told me that the blue was all he had, and that customers were too picky and always complaining and asking for money back. I simply asked a question about the color of the phone and never asked for a lower price. I did tell him that I'd received a recommendation from a friend to shop at his store and that I wouldn't be passing that recommendation along because I found him to be rude and disrespectful of customers. This led to a longer discussion why I felt this way. I was prepared to simply walk away from this transaction annoyed until he shouted "try not to drop your phone again" at me as I walked out the door. His witty comment was met with laughter from he and the other guy working in the store. I hope the caller, and any other potential customers, get lost on the way to his shop and buy from someone else. I had a Samsung Galaxy S 6 edge 128 gig phone which needed the power supply to be repaired. After leaving the phone for Repair I was contacted a few weeks later and was told my phone was stolen. Frank the owner also told me that he was not going to be responsible nor would he replace my phone. Before I had left when leaving my phone for Repair I had purchased a spare phone which was A Galaxy S9. I had software issues issues with that phone . I preceded to bring my phone to T mobile, And was told that the software was hacked and it may be a stolen phone. I definitely would not recommend going to PHYX Device Repair & Sales, I believe that these reviews on here are bought and paid for. Apple store wasted my entire day twice and that's with appointments! I was informed by Apple my iPhone was not repairable both times but for a few hundred dollars I could purchase another (unwarranteed) iPhone from their store. I'm on a fixed income. First time around I went without an iPhone for months as I still owed on it. On a whim I went to PHYX. Wow! In minutes phone good as new.
