Chef Toy LOVE aka Chef Toy Catering…read more I was lucky, just so fortunate to be at a Christmas party where the one and only Chef Toy took this fun party to a whole new level with her love, her care, her amazing culinary creations and then her entertaining and singing. So much passion! The attention to detail! The lovely heartwarming introduction and speech in which she mentioned she donates 50% of the proceeds to feeding the less fortunate. She is doing so again this Friday on Christmas Eve. Did I mention heart of gold!! Gold- yes- gold as in 14 kt gold lamb chops, succulent lobster, delicious shrimp, the MAC mac n cheese, the corn bread - OMG; we are just getting started - the bacon Brussel sprouts, the salmon, the crazy good mashed potatoes, the chicken with the sexy sun dried tomatoes. This was after the heavenly appetizers - the Hennessy wings, the stuffed shrimp with crab meat and the scream worthy ( yes they heard me in Pennsylvania) chicken and steak roll bites. The banana pudding needs a separate page and write up. What made this incredible food taste even better was the love with which both Chef Toy and her amazing and generous niece and assistant Shaquana served us and asked if we would like seconds and thirds. She can create and do any menu and cater to any requests. I have received so many compliments and texts re the photos. Everyone, you are missing out!!!! I would message her, call her right now.

We were standing in line as we were next to be waited on. A guy came from behind and told the guy that he wanted a soda. Very rude! The owner did acknowledge him and kept serving us and gave him the soda after he took out order. I really appreciate that. Food trucks and carts saturated the street but the gyro was quick and filling and it did the job. When we came back 2 hours later, the owner remembers us and ask if we enjoyed the gyro. We sparked up a conversation and he has to rush off. I found that totally appropriate because a customer was at his truck. The gyro was really good, I didn't want onions or fries so it was delicious as requested.

The star of the menu for me is the avocado toast - that's where they really get it right. The avocado toast is consistently fresh, well seasoned, and perfectly done every time. The pancakes are also very good: fluffy, tasty, and great for a weekend breakfast or brunch. One small thing that would make the experience even better is hot syrup. Warm syrup with those pancakes would take them to the next level. Service can be hit or miss depending on the day. On a previous visit, we had a server who dropped off the food and then basically disappeared until it was time for the check, which was disappointing. On our most recent visit, though, our server was the complete opposite: very attentive, friendly, and professional. It really made a difference in how much we enjoyed the meal. When we arrived this time, there was a line, but since there were only two of us and a table had just opened up, we were seated right away. That was a nice surprise and helped start the visit on a good note. All in all, Floral Park Diner is a nice local place, especially for breakfast or brunch. The food is good diner fare, some dishes shine more than others, and when the service is "on," it's a very pleasant experience. I'd recommend it if you're in the area and want a relaxed, neighborhood spot with great avocado toast and solid breakfast options. Guy was friendly and I was soo happy because this añejo is impossible to get! Prices were amazing and shipping was free. The shipment took 5-6 days got here on fed ex. These guys are the truth!!!

The 12-in pizza was more than enough for two people and filled with all the ingredients listed. I like sauce on my pizza, so I asked for a little extra on the side and it was so good I could have sucked it down without the pizza, which was hot and delicious! The small spumoni was a half scoop each of strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio ice cream. Not the official spumoni roll that I expected. The place was very packed and kind of noisy. The one thing that was noticeably lacking was the service. While it was efficient and fast there was no cordiality, it was just perfunctuary (no smiles, no kind words, nothing). Despite this, we would definitely recommend the restaurant because the pizza was excellent. We also welcomed the 20% lunch discount on the food. The bill was $30.57 for the pizza, ice cream, tax, and tip.
