Great outdoor seating areas. This is the front patio.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice side patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hostess was great. I appreciate that the server let me try a few wines tonight, but they all seemed "rough" -either unstructured or something else. I also wasn't wild about the parmagiana eggplant appetizer. The eggplant could have been more tender and the pesto was too strong for me. But my meal got better! He switched to a Hugo spritz and it was delicious and very strong. And my main course, the fusilloni with pesto and burrata, was delicious. The pasta was perfectly firm, and the pesto was less overpowering. There was not that much burrata, but they brought me extra Parmesan and it was delicious that way. So overall a good and pleasant meal. The vegan bruschetta was also good for sharing, though a little one for one person to have on their own.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place in LaJolla away from the beach (so no views with this restaurant).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside on their patio towards the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ordered a few drinks, a pizza, and chicken Milanese. We loved the chicken. The pizza was ok. Would totally recommend for a family visit or date night while in LaJolla.

If a restaurant has one stellar quality such as ambience, but the food is "meh" or vice versa, that could compel me to leave 4 stars. But Piazza 1909? It has ALL of the factors you want in your dining experience! I was at a work conference in La Jolla and picked out this place for my colleagues and I for dinner...of course due to Yelp reviews. Wow. Service: A+ Menu: made me anxious as there were so many things u wanted to try but couldn't reasonably put away, actual food we got: A+ (and everyone at the table for something different, but all had that savoring-eyes-closed-moment with the first bite, finally [[HIGHLIGHT]]AMBIENCE: A+ seriously so charming![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have nothing but good things to say and look forward to the next time we are in the neighborhood!

Absolutely beautiful! Food aesthetic and everything was spot on. Husband found this place through some ad on Instagram and wanted to go here because they had the squid ink pasta. He really wanted a pastor and the rest of the menu seemed really nice as well so we came here for our anniversary dinner. Definitely had a very hard time picking something on the menu because everything looks so good but I was also trying to eat healthy so got the Fall Salad (along with the pasta). It was an arugula base with roasted butternut squash, dried cranberries, apple, caramelized pecans and goat cheese. Added some chicken on top and overall this salad was phenomenal! Chicken was cooked perfectly and everything else on the salad was also beautiful together. The goat cheese was fresh. Pecans were yummy and the butternut squash was also delicious. And so so so well together. We did not even need one drop of that salad dressing. The squid ink pasta itself was absolutely lovely. Pasta was so fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce was yummy and there was so much of seafood on there. It was actually a very good meal for the price point. No regrets here at all. All the seafood was also cooked perfectly well and I was very skeptical about a seafood pasta but this was delicious. Got the Tiramisu for dessert and it was yummy! I was a little hesitant about this because I've had experiences with tiramisu not being as nice, but this was perfectly spot on. The mascarpone was soft and creamy and yummy and This was just another dessert overall. Aesthetic was very beautiful and they had heaters everywhere so the experience was very comfortable.

We were in town for a wedding and they decided to have their celebration dinner here, we were all pleasantly surprised by this place. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous fitted with outdoor seating surrounding a repurposed home. The service was great, they were quick and attentive. To our surprise, my partners mom and the chef of the restaurant are from the same region in Italy. Everything was fantastic, the portions are smaller and lack an abundance of flavor from what we are used to (my partners father is a chef), but overall still a solid place.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful Italian restaurant set in La Jolla shopping area, this is our second time eating here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]First time was for a party, and they had a nice private area in the back set up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This visit was for dinner and love how the restaurant is lighted.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the bruschetta appetizer with different bites, which by far is a must order. We devoured every bite of the crispy flavorful bread topped each with different toppings. The bolognese pasta with slowly simmered tomatoes and meat was the right consistency and thickness for the parpadelle pasta. The pizza had a thin light crust which is the way I love my pizza. We made a reservation which is recommended since they can get quite busy. The staff greeted us upon entering and were so friendly explaining all the dishes. Yum

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is super cute and overall enjoyed the food![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly and nice. Heads up, they're not a full bar. Beer and wine only, but decent selection considering it not being a full bar. Pasta nicely cooked al dente and the sauces on the dishes were not that heavy. Their focaccia bread was beautifully done as well!

We came here for the first time today. Tuesdays are 50% off select bottles night. We started with the focaccia and the squash blossoms which i forgot to take a photo of. Both were delicious. Mains included cioppino pizza lasagna. The service was fantastic. Attentive but not annoying and the space is very pretty with great ambiance. My only small complaint was that the pizza was a bit soggy in the middle, but next time we will just order it well done:

I have to give this a 3 star bc the service was subpar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The food and ambiance is fabulous[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but the service was not great. Server took a long time taking the order and bringing food. I might try it again when it's not as busy. Great food though.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you want home made but don't want to cook at home this is the place to be. It's absolutely delicious.

It was a cute and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a group dinner in the evening. There were 9 in our party and they were more than able to accommodate us. The service was a little slow and inattentive throughout the night. For example, we had three pitchers of water on the table that ran out and we were unable to get more for a considerable amount of time as no one came to check up on our table until the food was ready to be served. Then, we had long since finished our meal but waited a considerable amount of time for the check to be brought out. Fortunately, we were in no rush and so it didn't become a huge issue. It was just weird because the restaurant was not extremely busy and hectic on this particular Sunday night. I've worked in fast paced restaurants as a waitress and so maybe the importance of checking on your tables throughout their dining experience has just been drilled into my subconscious too much! The food was very delicious though and worth the visit. You can tell how fresh the pasta is and the serving sizes were very generous! We were all shocked at how many ravioli our friend got on her plate. Sometimes you go to an Italian restaurant and get maybe four ravioli and that's it! Our whole party was satisfied with the food and I didn't feel disgustingly full afterwards either. It's very much an enjoyable and lowkey spot for good Italian food in the area. Happy eating:) Side note: I want to also mention that they have a little menu for your furry friends and I think that is absolutely adorable!!

Cute restaurant with a dog-friendly patio, which was the main reason we came. We didn't have reservations and were seated at the bar, even though several outdoor tables sat empty the entire time we were there - a bit disappointing since we had our dog with us. Service was friendly but slow, and the food was decent, just not super memorable. Overall, it's a nice spot to check out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. insalate di cesare (small) 4/5 pizza margherita burrata 3/5

I think it's great. But working with Carly was stiff. Communication broke down at times with her over email when collecting insurance for vendors and trying to schedule our rehearsal walk through with our coordinator. When we toured they mentioned that we could have someone play the piano with prior permission. We got said permission from Carly only to find out that said person needs to have day of insurance. The person we had in mind to play was our friend who is a musician but we didn't want to make them or us pay $120 just so he can play piano for 30 minutes. So that was annoying as we wished the insurance part was mentioned prior because it sounded like someone could casually play if we just notified her first. So we scrapped that. Given the historic status of the house I understand the rules but at times the way they were enforced or communicated felt unnecessary or cold given the event. They also don't recommend getting ready in the house because the outlets aren't reliable so FYI for your timeline there. Parking is also an issue so valet is required but that's just a La Jolla classic. In the contract it's stated that music is "monitored throughout the night" and if it exceeds certain decibels they'll shut it down... I found that interesting... and honestly stressful as a bride who spent thousands to rent this space and is happy to be respectful to rules but again the manner they're provided and enforced... If I had to do it over again would I have my wedding here? Not sure. Made for beautiful photos but I think the "fun" aspect of the day would've been easier enjoyed somewhere else because the entire time these rules are hovering over you...

The wedding and reception ran timely and smoothly. The buffet dinner offered a variety of options and everything was tasty! There were plenty of seats and tables to ensure every guest had a place to hang out before and after the formal dinner. Heat lamps and tabletop fire pits were set up throughout the venue in the evening. What I did notice was how great and attentive the staff were in every aspect - at the bar, passing hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner, photobooth. I really appreciated a female staff member notice who wasn't drinking alcohol and provided apple cider so they can participate in toasts! A staff member was also stationed by the main entrance which I'd assume is to prevent party crashers and ensure guests aren't walking out with alcohol (they thought my water was alcohol). The only downside of this gorgeous venue is the parking situation. We parked in a paid parking garage at the Morgan Stanley building for $25. It is a 0.2 mile walk to the venue.

I paid $500 for the room, arrived around 10 pm and had to check out by 11am, quick $500! There was a $45 resort fee, whatever that means. Still would love to know what that was for. Anyways, the bellhop guys were nice they gave me recommendations for where to eat and also helped carry my suitcase up to my room. The bedroom was small, really small and the view was of a back lot with dumpsters and the side of a building. Sure, the room was hip and funky and cool. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small but functional. Listen the room was fine, but for $500...and this was a heavily discounted room because I booked through Hotel Tonight. Anyways, I walked the hotel at night and it was nice because I had the place to myself, the pool is really pretty at night, it's lit up, I recommend walking outside and having a seat on their comfy couches above the pool. In the morning I continued exploring the hotel and when I went to check out the dining room I was receiving unfriendly glances from the hostess or whoever she was. So much so that I stopped and asked if it was okay that I was looking around, to which she replied, "Well are you eating?" I said no and that I was staying here and just wanted to check out the view. I am a pretty average looking chick, was in work out clothes, maybe I didn't fit the high end clientele look and it seemed to bother her. Anyways, the people at the front desk upon check out weren't the friendliest either, seemed annoyed when I asked if they had change for the bellhop. The man at the concierge desk who I believe has a job of making sure everyone in the hotel is happy and having a grand time didn't even acknowledge. me the four or five times I walked past his desk. I felt unwelcome to be honest.

Perfect for date nights…read more The service was GREAT, couldn't say anything bad about any of the person that attended to us. But just like other comments here, the food is pretty basic. I hope they would have a more unique menu both pleasing to the eyes and filling. The taste was basic too, it's not really something I would crave for again that I have to get it in this specific restaurant. The quality of the scallops were amazing though, really soft and they're big. Mostly I would come back here just for the vibes, place, ambience. But the food...I hope they improve it soon and make it worth it for the price. :)

We were visiting the area for a week and made a reservation in advance for a Thursday dinner…read more We came in a little earlier than our reservation but were seated past our reservation time and we didn't even get a nice view table, which we get that not everyone gets it. The hostess table had two ladies who weren't very nice. You have to pay $15 for valet parking. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and obviously it's an amazing experience. The prices are very high but expected due to location. Service was excellent, very professional and more old school. We definitely were happy with a service. We had summer salad that was excellent. And we also ordered squid. Squid was very disappointing because it was extremely salty, it was hard to eat and I love salty food. My husband couldn't eat much of it because he doesn't like salty food much. We also had mocktails that were pretty good. I had king trumpet mushroom for my main and a side of cauliflower. Mushroom dish was amazing but cauliflower wasn't very good, especially the sauce was very heavy and didn't seem like it was a good sauce for cauliflower. My husband had swordfish and it was excellent. However it comes with zucchini squash that wasn't very good and again the sauce wasn't very good. We were celebrating our anniversary and we got complimentary piece of cake that my husband loved. Overall it's definitely a nice experience. Some dishes were amazing, others not so much.

A high-quality restaurant with a relaxed vibe, serving very good coastal Italian with homemade…read morepastas. Great spot for a nice dinner in La Jolla, with gorgeous sunset views to boot. The ravioli was the standout of the night, thin pasta with just enough filling for a delightful bite. The bucatini all'amatriciana wasn't quite what I'm accustomed to, the guanciale was ground rather than diced, and the sauce leaned more toward a meat sauce with an oily finish, not really my style, though the pasta itself was cooked well al dente. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive throughout. For dessert, the trio was a nice way to sample a few things, though I wish they offered smaller sampler portions instead of full-size pieces. The Basque cheesecake was excellent and the semifreddo was perfect with a nice crust. The chocolate torte was good but couldn't compete with the other two. Overall a strong dinner spot in La Jolla, especially for pasta lovers and sunset views.

This restaurant is in a beautiful location in La Jolla, on the third floor over seeing the ocean…read more We arrived on Saturday around 5pm while visiting San Diego. We called an hour ahead to reserve a table and luckily they had availability. We ordered the crudo and octopus as appetizers. The crudo was served with fresh tuna topped with a sweet melon sauce (not to my liking, but still appreciated). The octopus was delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pistachio pesto pizza, raviolli, and beef ziti. The pizza was my favorite (i love anything pistachio) especially enjoyed the pistachio pesto. I appreciate the thin dough of raviolli and the ziti was good. Overall food was good. Our server's name was Kevin, he was friendly and gave great service.
