I have been ordering from here for 10+ years but the last couple times I have ordered it has been a total miss. We always call to place our order and have been rushed off the phone and have had the order not done correctly. Unfortunately we realize it after we get home and don't want to go back. Tonight I ordered chicken parm dinner with a side of meat sauce over the pasta and they placed the pasta over the top of the chicken parm so the cheese came completely off of the chicken. Salad served with entree included mixed greens with red onions and sliced cherry tomatoes. Much better than usual iceberg lettuce salad. Ordered penne with sausage (see submitted photo). Piazza Orsillo is located in a shopping center in between Somerset, Franklin, and Hillsborough. There is a large parking lot, but around lunch hours, this can fill up and it can be a challenge to find a place to park. Piazza Orsillo has a good amount of dining space, helpful and polite staff, and a tremendous assortment of specialty slices and foods available at the counter. I always give a lot of props to pizzerias that offer so many options at the counter, and Piazza Orsillo has one of the tastiest looking assortments I've seen in the area. The pizza overall is very good. The plain slice had a nice crispy base, good cheese and sauce, though a slightly burnt/dry crust. The chicken, bacon, ranch slice was packed with flavor and had great proportions of chicken to ranch dressing. The Margherita slice was also delicious and had more of the tasty sauce I enjoyed so much. This is definitely one of the better spots in the Franklin-Somerset area. read more

We bought paint next door and had to wait for them to make it, so we had 15 minutes to burn. My girl and I decided to stop by this Pizzeria, and we are glad we did. The place is very neatly decorated. The lighting is great too. We were not planning on staying long, so we ordered a quick snack of mozzarella sticks with extra marinara sauce, and chicken fingers with bbq sauce. The mozz sticks was bla BAM! The marinara sauce it came with was nice and hot, and has that tang that im looking for. The chicken fingers was nice and crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside. I think our favorite part of this meal was the barbecue sauce. Its the same bbq sauce that we have been looking for all our life. Its the same one as the pizzeria in Hoboken called Impostos. If you visit only one place that I review on Yelp, you must go here and get their Grandma pie. It's easily the best in the area. So good in fact that my wife often makes me order it on the way home and go out of my way to pick it up. It's basically a Sicilian pie that's cooked before the dough is given a chance to rise. So the crust is thin, tomato sauce is chunky, and garlic is plenty. So to recap, go here and get the Grandma pie, it will make you remember that there is still some good in this world. read more

This rating is based just on their grandma pizza pie! It's SO GOOD. I've tried other grandma pies since I discovered it here and they just fall short. I have yet to eat one that is better so far. The interior is nice and clean. Seating is limited as most people just take out. There is more seating area in the back though. The customer service has always been really nice and I like the way the owner interacts with his employees. Very family like and kind. If you go here you MUST try the grandma pie, unless you're a vampire and don't like garlic. =) read more

I received a menu in the mail showing they delivered so I thought I would give it a try. Ordered the Zio Roberto, buffalo wings, a Caesar salad, and garlic bread. Food tasted good, but a few things were off. The Zio Roberto did not have any scallops per the menu description, and only 2 shrimp. The rest were clams. Wings were not buffalo style, they are breaded. They were ok, just not my preference. Garlic bread was very small, and no real garlic, only garlic powder. Originally I tried to submit the order online but ended up having to call in because they only had the chicken Caesar salad available on their website, no regular Caesar salad listed. For the prices they charge it seems like they should do better. read more

Piazza Orsillo is a perfect example of the New Jersey pizzeria. Pizza in front, restaurant in back (yep, there's a restaurant back there!). Up front they have the traditional pizza offerings - traditional pizzas like pepperoni, sausage and plain; calzones; garlic knots; sicilian pizza; and meatball subs. They also have the less traditional pizzas - BBQ chicken, buffalo chicken, etc. It's not quite as good as Dusal's, but very good nonetheless. Crust that's got a good chew to it, tasty sauce, plenty of cheese, and a generous application of toppings. In back they have a restaurant with a full menu. The atmosphere is still very casual, but the tablecloths are nicer. I'm picky about my chicken parm, and theirs gets my approval. Unlike my husband, I grew up in Texas with the famous pizza chains such as Pizza Hut, Dominoes, & Papa johns. But he is born and raised in the Northeast where pizza is the specialty. I loved every bit of it. All the crusts were crispy up to the center of the Pizza, and it was a nice balance of toppings on top of the dough/crust. I specifically loved the sausage and how it was more shredded than cut up. The garlic knots were top notch in my opinion. My husband, however, thought that there could have been a tad more salt to nearly all of the pizza. While he thought the same with the crisp and balance of it, the taste just didn't stand out as much as he had expected. The pizza was delicious!!! We also had the garlic knots abd mozzarella sticks, both were OK. The knots were way too garlicky almost too over powering. The mozzarella sticks lacked flavor in the breading, they were a bit bland. The sauce was a little sour to my liking but I still enjoyed my meal. The pizza is great and the owner is very nice BUT he has kids running the place and he is absent. Ordered a pizza at 8 and was told 45 min 65 min in I called because it wasn't delivered yet. I was told they called, no call & why? They said they called bc I lived far away, I have been ordering from this place for 7 years they have my name and number and address in the computer. Clearly they messed it up. We live 7 min away and it took 25 more min to get delivered. The deliver kid said the number was messed up as usual. It was wrong on the receipt . They need to get it together, good product but the service is the downfall. They need more supervision. read more

Owners's are a bunch of Wise Guys!! We usually order to go. Nine out of ten times they screw up the order. On a Friday night they must have at least ten employees working in the front and they all answer the phone calls. Once they get the order corrected after we check it in the car, the food tastes just so, so. We have tasted better. If you complain to the owners they take an attitude that we didn't appreciate. I guess they get insulted if you tell them they messed up the order. They promise that the next time your order to go,it won't be incorrect, well guess again, it was incorrect. We have been coming to Piazza Orsillo for pizza for the past few months. Great regular pizza, Grandma's pie is awesome as is the Sicilian pie. Since we have enjoyed the pizza so much we de used to come in for dinner on Saturday night. We are glad we did. We sat in the back room which is quieter for dinner than the outer dining room where lots of people are going in and out picking up orders. The room wasn't over crowded but there were many other customers enjoying their meals when we arrived. I always get the same thing when we go to Italian restaurants. I don't know if it's because I have no imagination or just know what I like. My wife always tries to get me to try new things and I'm glad she suggested Arancini - that's close I think - which are deep fried balls of rice served w sauce. These little bites were amazing and I definitely recommend them. Be sure to cut them in half as they are extremely HOT on the inside! Then we had our salads which were fresh and crispy. As much as I enjoyed the appetizer, I wasn't about to try too many new things in one night so I ordered my standard chicken parm with pasta. My wife decided on chicken franchise. Both were outstanding. Chicken was fresh and crispy with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Delicious. I will order it again without a doubt. Even tho we had had more than enough to eat, we ordered coffee and cannoli for desert. Very fresh cannoli shells and the cream was delicious. So even tho I had half of my dinner portion in a container to take home, of course I was able to finish my cannoli! We both brought more than half of our very large portions home with us and finished them up today and ended up stuffed again. Awesome food! Our server was Eileen and she did a very good job. When I come in to pick up a pizza the staff is always very friendly and I like that. We are both very happy to have found Piazza Orsillo. This 5* rating is for but one aspect of their restaurant model. It's their Grandma's Pizza which is the best that I've tasted in all of NJ-----EVER. I've occasionally had their other slices which are 'standard', though Damiano (owner) did offer me a white artichoke with pesto he put together one day and it was terrific (though I haven't seen it again). Orsillo's is always busy at lunch and I would surmise that folks enjoy what they order as there are a lot of regulars. But trust me on this. Don't order a plain pie. Do the grandma's - full of roasted garlic, San Marzano tomatoes, and a couple of different cheeses. Pure heaven and you're thinking you're at LB Spumonis in NY. And I know my pizza as I live at the Shore (Monmouth) and we have plenty of thin crust classic Jersey pie (that doesn't mean Pete & Elda's either). On a recommendation that they had good thin crust pizza, I placed an order to pick up. I arrived 5 minutes after the time specified. When the girl at the register pulled up my order to give me the total I owed, she read my order and was missing one item. She said she was sorry and it would just be another 10 minutes. Twenty minutes later I still didn't have my order and asked one of the girls to check on it. The owner heard the commotion and asked what the problem was so I told him. He said he was sorry and it would just be a few more minutes. Cue the "Jeopardy theme"! To conclude, 55 minutes later I get my entire order, one thing fresh and hot from the oven, the rest cold and getting mushy and "sorry for the wait"! I can't even say it was worth the wait! Sandwiches and paninis here are very good, grilled chicken panini is my go to sandwich at least once a week. The fresh potato chips and side of balsamic they give you are awesome. The place can get a little crowded at lunch so get here early. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is sometimes the kitchen seems to forget about my order. Whether they lose the ticket or forget to tell me that my food is ready, I've ended up waiting 25-30 minutes for what typically takes 5 to 10. Other than that, you really can't go wrong here.
