Randomly stopped by lunch after going to ShopRite. Their lunch deal of 2 slices and a drink for 6.50 is what convinced me. The awesome thing is that it's not restricted on tv type of slices. So i was able to get a grandma slice with vodka sauce and spicy slice. It was totally worth it. They have good sauces. I will be back as i want to try more slices. More like a 3 and a half. The good- Flavors and portions are fine. Delivery person was friendly and on time. The bad- The eggplant was barely cooked, almost raw, ie: crunchy. I had to spit it out. Although raw or partially eggplant is not technically harmful, its not what I expected on pizza. Because of this, we probably won't be going there again. But for other folks- give them a try- garlic knots are on point, chicken parm and grandma pizza was fine. Take out, so no ambiance. Genuinely so concerned right now. I ordered delivery and in my Penn Vodka pie i bit into a literal screw or nail which i have pictured below. I heard my teeth scrap from biting into metal which is what led me to spit it out thank god. I can't even imagine how dangerous it would be swallowing that, and it was embedded into the pizza so it wasn't visible until i had a bite. Not only that but the second pie was half plain half pepperoni and came smeared and mixed, and the mozzarella sticks were cold and tasted like a cheap and store-bought frozen brand. Those two factors would not have been enough for me to write a review, but finding a literal piece of metal in my food is so alarming and I want to warn everyone. I stopped at Roman Gourmet because I was at the mall for something else. I ordered a cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms. I was so PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, it was FANTASTIC!! The bread was exceptional and there was more than enough meat, which was really tasty, plenty of mushrooms and onions and it was really big! I took it to go and 5 minutes later it was still too hot to eat which was really nice to get a sandwich that was still hot by the time I got back to work. I came back here for another takeout order and tried the items below. Margherita Pizza - Again, the sauce was light and flavorful. The mozzarella was melted just right and the crust was cooked to perfection. It was tasty. Eggplant Parmigiana - This had lots of garlic, a little too much. The eggplant was soft, but not mushy and had tons of cheese while the bread was able to hold up with all of the eggplant, cheese, and sauce that was present. Broccoli and Garlic Stromboli - I believe this was the name of it. There was not much garlic like the sandwich, but just enough to flavor the broccoli. Again, it was cooked appropriately. read more

I love going here during my break and they have discounts for Shoprite workers. They have amazing pizza however first time I went there I received burnt pizza. I tried going there again and I had a much better experience. The tables are very clean and the music isn't too loud. The pizza was flat out amazing. Very tasty and not too much cheese and the right amount of tomato sauce. I'd like to start off by saying this place recently has gone under new management. I was never a fan in the past but after going there the other day I will be making this one of my go-to spots in Hillsborough. The vodka slice is phenomenal as well as the vodka chicken parm (this one's not on the menu but order it and trust me, you won't regret it)! They also just started to remodel place which it has been in desperate need of. I would definitely recommend giving these guys a try. Sadly been coming here for over 12 years, will not be coming back. Two times in a row, came in about 35 minutes after my order to find it not done. First time it took over an hour, to get my pizza at 1 pm on a sunday; not exactly rush hour. The second time tonight it came out 50 minutes after my order. Burger I ordered for my son was cold from sitting waiting for the pizza to get done. The owner said sorry then nothing after I told him this was 2nd time in a row. At least show like you care. I moved to Hillsborough about two years ago and have tried several places when it comes to pizza (and there are a lot in the area, especially with Door Dash and Grub Hub as options). This place has consistently delivered above and beyond for me. I have never ordered from the Roman Gourmet and had an issue. Between throwing in extra garlic knots to make sure things didn't move around too much in the box, to delivering pizza after closing when I was coming back from the airport and leaving the pizza in their delivery bag to keep it hot, when they knew I wouldn't be able to actually accept the order, their service has been beyond compare. Great food, a great football pizza, lots of great sandwich and dinner options. I would recommend this place over anywhere else I've ordered from in the area. Spent the last several years living in the South, where finding even decent pizza is rare. In the past 5 months back here, have tried most of the area pizza restaurants with good ratings. Roman Gourmet is the only one we've found that I would recommend and return to. The pizza gravy (or sauce) is not sweet, the thin crust is tasty, crispy and well done. I just moved to the area and I live sort of in the middle of nowhere so it's hard to find a place that delivers. This place does and I wanted to try it. I ordered mozzeralla sticks, an eggplant panini and the penne vodka. Unfortunately I did not really enjoy my food. The mozzarella sticks looked yummy but upon biting into one there was no crunch at all, it was soft and chewy. The eggplant panini was okay but just left more to be desired and it came with a salad that was chopped so tiny it was almost weird. The penne vodka was okay, it actually tasted better the next day but I had to add parmesan cheese to it to help it. I don't know if I'll be ordering from them again. read more

However, if you plan on having your food delivered, I would NOT recommend this restaurant. My delivery experience: Yesterday, I ordered mozzarella sticks and three chicken parmesan sliders for delivery. I chose to place my order through your website because I understand that GrubHub and DoorDash take a certain percentage of the profits from each order, and being that we are in the midst of a pandemic, I wanted all the profits to go into your business. I placed the order at 3:15 pm and the estimated delivery time was 4:15pm. Around 4:35, our food had yet to arrive, so I called to check on the status of the delivery. The young man was very polite on the phone and informed me that the delivery woman left about 20 minutes ago. He told me that there were multiple orders being delivered, so she would be there soon. Ten minutes later the food arrived. At this point the food had been sitting in the car for 30 minutes--and it showed. The all of the food was cold. The marinara sauce must have spilled over in the car because the food can covered in the sauce. Being that it sat in the sauce for 30 minutes, the food was disgustingly soggy. The parm sliders were equally as soggy as the mozzarella sticks. I was unable to consume over half of my sandwich because of the soggy texture of the sandwich. My brother also threw out his second sandwich after attempting to find edible areas of the first sandwich. It was not the wait that I am writing my review on, I know that these things take time, but the condition the food was in upon delivery was simply unacceptable especially knowing what the food should look and taste like. My son asked the individual on the phone who took the order I want them very well done and extra crispy. The pizza's were white and soft. Nowhere near well done and crispy. One step up from Chucky Cheese. Yuck. Even warming them up again made no difference. I respect the fact everyone likes their pizza cooked differently.
