Inside was a bit small, we had the shimmy to get to one side of the table, but the layout and the tables made it appear spacious. The wait staff came quickly and was attentive throughout our whole meal. She provided great service. The portions are huge! The food was hot and sizzling and tasty. I had a shrimp and a beef taco with the medium tamarindo drink. We also had guacamole and chips for the table. The guacamole was made fresh and was the best guacamole I have had in a long time. I used to love picante picante and it was a staple in my seamless rotation. I ordered delivery on Mother's Day and the majority of my order was not delivered. I called seamless and I called picante picante directly, both blamed the other and neither would offer a solution. Picante picante told me I could pick the remainder of the order (that I already paid delivery for) in person, how generous of them. Usually the food is good, albeit overpriced, but after this experience I won't order from them again. Just a heads up to future customers. read more

I am never disappointed here. Never. Especially by the staff. Always so pleasant and attentive. I adore the people that work here. Best Mexican food for the price within miles. There are some pretentious ones up in Riverdale that are over priced and fairly decent but this one is just a hard-working kitchen with quality food. The Birria Tacos is a definite 10 out of 10! The meat is tender , flavorful, and all the ingredient are fresh. I was even offered the option of American style to include lettuce or Mexican , with cilantro and cheese .... The establishment looks clean and quaint. The employees are kind and personal. First, each corn tortilla fell apart at the base, making it difficult to eat. Second, the meat was tough and not very flavorful. I loooove this place. I usually just get takeout either by calling or via Seamless. I have tried many of their dishes but my faves will always be tacos and Enchiladas Verdes. I appreciate that they have vegetarian options and are always open to substitute my preferences. The churros are my son and I's favorite dessert. I've continued to order from Picante Picante. During the pandemic I've been ordering alot of take out from here. Prior to the pandemic i would come here to eat alot with my grandmother. We both love this place. The main reason i love ordering from here is because of how fresh the guac and salsa are. Its a must have with each order. The last time i had the steak fajita dinner. The steak and vegetables were so good. I absolutely loved it. The rice was okay. The beans tasted a little too smokey. Alot tok burnt tasting. I wish it came with more tortillas but overall this meal is good. My husband got the pulled pork torta. He said it was really good and he ate it all. It was loaded with meat. He took some off lol. I am unfortunately never ordering from here ever again. I had been ordering from this place for almost two years now and the food was great. However this last time I ordered, not so much. I got 4 shrimp tacos which is my usual. The first bite I took I noticed something super hard when I bit down. I looked in the taco & there was a DIME in it. A dime! I hadnt opened the tacos themselves at all since I opened the container nor did I have any change around me so I knew there was no way the dime came from my home. When I called to tell them what happened the girl who answered the phone told me there was nothing she could do because the manager wasn't there and they were about to close. I found that to be really bad customer service because it's like, im not going to eat this food now, so the least you could do was send another or give me my $ back but neither was offered. The next day I called back and the manager essentially told me that what she did was right. He asked if I had a picture and then dared to ask me if I still had the tacos almost 24 hrs later lol apparently they needed them to make sure I didn't really eat them and because it's the "chefs word against mine" ??? Even though I spit out the dime soooo how would they even know if it was in there or not? And why would I lie on a random restaurant that I've been order from for almost two years now?? At the end of everything I ended up getting a credit for the tacos but I got off the phone feeling bad because I really wanted a refund. The flautas were great, again that green sauce is life Also the Gordita is a traditional dish, not like a Taco Bell gordita, could have used lime with the cecina Overall great, they don't send line so ask for it trust me. The goat was very tender, thumbs up. But I was a bit disappointed because it lacked flavor. Even after squeezing lemon on it, I really didn't get any flavor. I can't remember the name of the entree that I ordered. All I remember is that it was a volcano on a plate. Very nice plating too, I must say. THIS IS A GENUINE MEXICAN JOINT. The construction going on next door could easily be heard over the mariachi music but that didn't stop them from slinging quality food. My girlfriend and I like to go out and eat like fat savages. We spent $55 with tip and not only left feeling like stuck pigs, but we still have about 2.5 meals worth of left overs and an order of untouched Flan. The portion sizes are generous as fuck. The tamales are huge, order them. A side order of Tostones is way bigger than any one person should ever eat alone. The enchiladas were super delicious. They have more choices of flavored soda than you probably knew existed. All in all everything was good. The only thing I could ask for is maybe a little more spiciness in the flavor. This restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the 231st Street 1 Station. I walked in solo on a sunny Thursday around 1 PM. The place has 7 tables with about 20 seats total and I was the only person seated in the restaurant. However, there was brisk takeout traffic. There was the typical Mexican decor but there was a fake roof façade with a sombrero on top which I thought was a nice touch. For some reason, the sombrero on the roof reminded me of a pizza on top of the White residence but I digress.. I was brought the typical salsa and chips before I ordered. The chips were nice and crispy with the right amount of salt. The salsa was cold as if it came out straight from the refrigerator but I actually didn't mind since it was a hot day and was a refreshing treat. I found I had to use my elementary knowledge of Spanish to fully communicate my order intentions but I didn't think it was too big of a barrier. I ordered a plate of enchiladas verdes. The dish presentation was great and the avocado was fresh and flavorful. The rice and black beans were typical and par for the course. I did enjoy the enchiladas themselves. The enchiladas were vegetarian and contained great tasting vegetables wrapped around corn tortillas with salsa verde, sour cream, and a cheese I believe to be queso Oaxaca although I may be wrong. I've been to this place several times now, and I've ordered takeout twice. I really like this place. The owners/staff are really friendly. They make guacamole tableside, which is both fun and delicious. In addition to regular tortillas, they offer thick homemade tortillas which are fabulous -- you have to try them! The most recent meal I had there was chiles rellenos, stuffed with cheese. It was very satisfying. They have mexican sodas and fruit drinks. For beer or anything else, its BYOB. The lengua i wish was a little more cooked/crispy. it was a bit soft. The al pastor was great and nice juicy bits of meat. Also got the horchata. Not the best i've had... i wish it waas a bit more cinammon-y and less sugary, but still really good. one thing i was disappointed with was the sudden price increase. the price for a taco isn't bad, but then they asked if i wanted it with everything (lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc) which is standard for tacos! but then that added about 75 cents per taco =( Overall, great food and if I'm in the mood for mexican and nearby, i'll be back!! read more
