I loved the food. My low rating has to do with the fact that underneath "Chips & Salsa" in the special instructions I wrote "side of guacamole" and when I received my order I only received a side of guacamole with no chips. I called to inform them that I never received my chips. The woman told me "you didn't say you wanted chips. You just said a side of guacamole." I told her I wanted guacamole instead of salsa. She apologized and ended the call. I checked my order because I thought I had put it under the 'Special Instructions' under "Chips & Salsa." I saw I had. So I called back and the phone just rang several times until the answering machine came on. It was just after 9pm and they were open until 11pm. I called back and after a few rings a man answered and I told him the situation and he said that the side of guacamole is the same price as the Chips & Salsa. I told him I didn't know that as this was my first time ordering from them. He told me that I could've selected Chips & guac under sides. I told him I didn't know that and got off the phone. I checked under sides and Chips & Guac is NOT listed separately as he stated. The chips & Salsa is the most expensive item under their sides. Again, food was good but if you want guac & Chips, write "guac & Chips" But idk how they'll charge you the extra. Seems like it should be added to their menu. read more

This evening I had to order dinner as part of an educational program I planned for my coworkers at the hospital. And I was in the mood for Mexican food ;) I spoke with Juan over the phone and together we came up with different items to feed 10-15 people. Guacamole Salsa and chips Tostones with garlic sauce Shrimp tostadas Flautas Fried calamari 30 soft shelled tacos (10 chicken, 10 steak, 10 carnitas) Food was excellent. Fresh and great flavors. For dessert, I requested a tres leche cake but they accidentally gave me a chocolate cake. Though I still want my tres leche cake, the chocolate was very very good. I've eaten a lot of tacos in my life but this place has THE BEST tacos! My favorite is the carne enchilada taco and the steak tacos. This is always our go to spot. I want to love this place so bad, I really do. But I've had just okay experiences every time I've ordered so far, and something is always off. Sometimes the food is really good, but they end up forgetting stuff, while sometimes the food is really eh, but they remember all the sauces... I noticed they tend to skimp on ingredients. Their goat soup is SO good, but they put almost no goat in the actual soup! I ordered a large, so I definitely expected a fairly decent amount of meat considering the price. I kept on scooping around with my spoon and got maybe two pieces of meat which were almost all bone. You would think that it would be a norm to provide an amount of sauce proportional to order amount. I guess not here. We ordered a dozen tamales but for some reason only received one plastic container of the green sauce, and one plastic sauce container of the red sauce. --Basically, what I'm tryna say is that how you gonna give the same amount of sauce you would give to an order of 2 tamales.... to an order of 12 tamales??? Anyone who has eaten tamales knows those things can be dry as hell!! Dear god. We just did another big order of tamales. What's wrong now you ask? All of the pork tamales are obviously very poorly cooked and COLD. Many of them are extra dry and the pork is actually cold. The food was good and i enjoyed it and would be back to try other dishes.They do NOT serve alcohol however they did in the past but not currently. Got the nachos- soooo much cheese and of course was hard by the time it got to me with areas with no toppings and others soaked in sauce and toppings and soggy. Needless to say did not enjoy that meal. Off to my next item- soft tacos; got one fish taco with fish (imagine that ;-))) and one with shrimp. The actual shrimp and fish was tasty but the remaining parts of the taco: the soft shell, the toppings of salad and veggies was completely tasteless with absolutely no flavor. Again, disappointed. Ordered about $40 worth of takeout...assortment of tacos, quesedilla, etc.... First the tacos, ordered the al pastor, pork and beef. The al pastor tacos were really bad. The the meat was overcooked or old and the flavor was terrible. The pork tacos were wet and fat was not separated from the meet which left an unpleasant experience. The standard beef tacos were a disappointment...beef was try and unflavored Quesadilla was below average. Just a flour tortilla folded in half stuffed with some meet and veggies and lower quality queso blanco.... I am not sure this place will stay open long if they keep serving like this...not sure if I will give it another shot..... read more

My best friend and Mexican so I know quality food when I eat it. I love their food so much I had them cater my boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday party. The portions were well over what I had requested, they delivered to the party location, the provided utensils (forks,spoons, knives and napkins). The fees were the most reasonable and the amount for my money was amazing. I didn't even get an guacamole because the masses finished it! People took food home and everyone asked me for a menu because they had to know where this food came from. Dining in the restaurant is just as fabulous as everyone else has said. About a year ago, they either changed recipes or changed main cooks and the food is just not as good. The delivery is still pretty fast, but the food has been cold the last few times. I don't know what's on top of the nachos, but there's no planet on which I'd call the "guacamole" fresh or green. Last time, my chimichanga was soggy -- it's just not the same quality. I had the trios enchiladas of which the steak and camerones were most delicious. My boyfriend had chicken mole which was very good, although not as good as mine. Place is small and very authentic. Wait staff were very nice although I don't think our waitress understood much English and we didn't really understand her. I had the Burrito Al Pastor which had a red sauce and melted cheese on top of the burrito. The burrito was also served with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo & lettuce on the side, which were included at no extra cost and complemented the burrito nicely. The red sauce on the side had a nice smoky chipotle taste and the green sauce was spicy and contrasted nicely against the pineapple taste of the pork. I would eat this any day over bland Chipotle/Qdoba, etc. Very tasty and I have to come back to try other dishes. Parking is very difficult in this area. This is a dense area of the Bronx, right near I-87 and a couple blocks away from Broadway. On the other hand, Picante Picante is only 2 blocks away from the 1 train at 231st and Broadway and the Bx1, 2 and 10 buses literally stop right in front of the restaurant. So leave that new Chipotle alone that's a few blocks away and come get some real Mexican food! read more
