First time ordering from them. I got a delivery of 4 tacos dorados and a cemita with carne asada brought to my house. The ordered appeared 20-30 minutes before I expected it, which was great, because I hadn't eaten all day. I devoured half a cemita (gave the other half to my better half) with the intention of splitting the tacos. The tacos provoked me and were basically begging me to eat them, so I drenched them in green sauce and annihilated them. I like that there's a few Mexican restaurants that deliver, especially now. What a amazing find in The Bronx! Was looking for a place to get tacos and found is hole in the wall grocery shop near Montefiore. The place is unassuming with only several tables, but the food is so fresh and authentic. I got the lengua taco and was impressed by how fresh the ingredients are and how tender and juicy the meat is. My taco was exploding with fresh cilantro, tomatoes, radish slices, lettuce, and a giant pile of lengua meat. I couldn't even wrap up the taco. Portion size is also fantastic and I was stuffed after 1 taco. The bistec torta was also really good. Every bite was filled with hot cheesy beef with crunchy fluffy bread. Call ahead for pick up or get it delivered. Either they're busy or the food takes a while to be prepared. My favorite menu items are tacos de lengua (with everything) and the nachos but I've never had a bad meal or poor service. My only wish is that they had more vegetarian or seafood options. Delivery is always quick and food is always fresh. So far I've had the nachos, tacos of few different meats, tacos dorados, burrito, and chips and guac. Just be sure to buy a bag of tortilla chips bc they give a lot of guac compared to the ratio of chips. So far everything is delicious and meat is seasoned perfectly. read more

If you order from here and its a big order or small, check your order before you pay. Because if they mess up the order they will just tell you that YOU were not specific enough. They expect everyone to know the different types of mexican dishes and they're job is to be specific and clarify to the customers and not assume what a customer wants. Amazing food! The service is nothing to write home about, I always sense a slight attitude from the staff when I order. But maybe it's just that I've got resting bitch face and they're simply reacting accordingly... Anywho, it's a Mexican grocery store/restaurant. There are a couple of seats in the back where you can have your food and down a couple of beers. The tacos are sooo good. They each bring two tortillas, and enough filling to split it into two. I usually get two tacos but feel like I'm actually eating four of those puppies. In the attempt to find my Holy Grail of Mexican spots, I came across this hidden gem and am super glad I did; let me tell you, this grocery is definitely less known than it warrants. I have actually lived in the neighborhood for 10 years and am just finding out about it! As a native Californian, I have to say that this is easily some of the best Mexican food I have ever had period, let alone in NYC. Having been to NYC several times, and living in different parts, I had pretty much given up hope. I highly recommend the chorizo, al pastor, and bistec. The carnitas is worth mentioning as well. I think the burritos have a little too much rice, but the tacos, tostadas and cemitas are excellent. I won't knock off a star because it is worth the wait, but do prepare to wait. But, I tasted the actual tostada, somehow it reminded me of the store brought tostada, very generic ... I like when they deep fry the tortilla themselves. It has more of a home-style taste... I write this review not as I sit in Mexicali, but another Mexican restaurant less than half a mile away. My wandering mind wanders and what my heart really desires is to be sitting at Mexicali enjoying its succulent, scrumptious and remorsefully greasy chorizo taco, specially as I bite into this crunchy chorizo tostada and am overwhelmed by the piquant taste of oregano. There's not much that needs to be done to chorizo folks. It's already rich in flavor. "Why?", I wonder, while Los Terricolas croon a sad "Dos cosas" over the radio and now the song takes on a whole new meaning. Moral of the story: Mexicali is the closest we get to good authentic food around this neck of the woods. If you are nearby, go there instead. read more
