This place has been around for decades, however, I only came here for the first time recently with my parents. It's good for groups, but small inside, so you will want a reservation. It's nice and cozy inside and feels very homely and old school (in a great way). We all ended up ordering the calzone - as you can see from the picture, we probably could have shared it! The portions are huge. We had plenty of leftovers afterwards. The service was quite nice. The food was delicious as well. We hopped over the border from Michigan on a Thursday night for my mother's birthday and were overwhelmed at all the delicious options on the menu. We wanted to try it all! I got the Creamy Bruschetta Florentine Chicken and while I think it could have had a bit more sauce-to- noodle ratio, it was fantastic and the portions of each dish at the table were huge. Great value for the price. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks (we had a hard time making up our minds!) and had the perfect banter and attentiveness to our table (Rayna- what a sweetheart! I went here for dinner after a wedding rehearsal and the staff and the food were outstanding. Parking was a little small and hard to find but when my family and I got into the resturant, we were seated very quickly and the staff was able to move the seating arrangement so everyone was together. We had a family style meal when I went. The food was amazing. Each dish, from the appetizer to the main course was full of flavor. The portions were big enough to feed everyone at the table! I left the place feeling full and satisfied. All of the staff working was attentive and kind to us. The ambiance of the place was warm, welcoming, and nicely decorated. I felt like I was really in Italy! Overall, if you are in the Windsor area, I would highly recommend visiting and taking your time to try everything on the menu. If you can, I would make a reservation, the place usually books out. I am thankful that my uncles live here so whenever I visit them in Canada I'll be sure to stop by! read more

Food was good although I would suggest a smaller portions menu offering as well. Portions are huge. Yes you can get a "to go" box, but a smaller portion option would be welcome. We were pleased to see that they offered Prosecco although they don't serve in flutes which you would expect. Also the Italian Wedding soup did not have acini de pepe rather elbow macaroni which isn't really ideal for this soup. Service was good. New cutlery would be expected between appetizers and main course, but not here. We'll definitely return based upon our overall experience which was good. read more

I went here yesterday with a party of 4. We were seated promptly and asked about drinks and given our menus. Friendly wait staff. I'm about 5'1" so I was surprised how even then the place felt really small. A nice small, cozy hall (reminded me of Hobbit Holes). We had to wait a long time for our food (new patrons came in and they got their food before us - maybe they ordered via phone?). But when we got our food it was worth the wait. We had a large Hawaiian Pizza and added on bacon and sausages. We also had 2 panzerotties and OH MY GOD. They're huge! I've never seen this place (because I live near Devonshire Mall, so it's out of my way) but I really loved the food! This is my first time having restaurant pizza that's not fast food. First visit at Piccolo's for our party of six. Very comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. We started with drinks and their famous bread which we devour in no time. The pasta fagioli soup was fresh but we all agreed was a bit bland. Food did take some time to be brought out which we liked because it made our gathering more of an event. My eggplant parmesan was tasty. So was the chicken parmesan and veal that the rest of the party ordered. Piccolo's does give large portions of pasta along side of the main dish. We all had leftovers since we are used to having pasta as a side dish. We were celebrating one of our family members birthday and the wait staff took the percentage off of the meal equivalent to the members age which was so sweet. read more

We had reservations for 630, our table was ready but service was slow from the start. We had to ask for drinks 30 mins after we had finished our first drinks. We waited forever for our appetizers and salads, which the house salads had basically no dressing and the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. We ended up with our flavourless entrees at 8:30. We ordered five different entrees and they were all flavourless and not what we expected at all. We had to wait forever for sides that we asked for and there were empty tables. The number one issue was time. We had side salad and then waited another hour + for our food. All in all we were there 2 hours for so so food. First time at Piccolo's and was not disappointed! Venue was romantic and cozy, with small tables & cute lights strung across the walls. We were a party of five and were seated right away. Service was outstanding, our waiter was prompt and professional, and very friendly. Food took a while but was it ever worth the wait! 3 of us got a baked chicken florentine pasta dish which was absolutely divine, while 2 of us got the house special of the night which was mozzarella stuffed rice balls sitting in a tomato basil sauce, topped with sautéed mushrooms, French green beans, chicken skewers and more cheese on top! Was pretty dissappointed with Piccolo's during a business trip. Seemed to have good Yelp reviews, but I question these. An older restaurant badly in need of renovation and modernization. "Quaint" only goes so far and this is way past being that. Just old and dark, with no windows. Food takes painfully long, even if no one is in the place, which was the case on a Wednesday night I was there. Me and my business associate waited well over half an hour for salads to arrive, let alone the main pizzas taking over and hour. Was a dinner I wish I had back. I don't leave too many reviews but felt the need to warn other business travellers, who need to make the most of their meals away from family, that this place will make it seem like a wasted evening. While the food quality was decent, the wait time was absurd. We waited an hour and a half for our main courses to arrive from the time we walked in. It was not over crowded or many large parties to serve. I appreciate a well cooked meal, however this was beyond acceptable. We had our kids with us and ordered a pizza, the special and chicken parm. Not going to return, very, very disappointing!!! On November 30, our group of three had a reservation for 6:30pm at Piccolos. Upon arriving at 6:15pm, we were advised that there were no tables available for our group and they asked that we wait on the takeout side, which we soon came to realize, was a dark and dingy closet size room, making us feel like we were in the movie castaway. When we asked how long a wait we would expect for a table, the response we got made you feel like you're talking to the Cable company "we are experience higher than normal volumes, please hold and we will be with you shortly". After a forty minute wait, now in a very crowded castaway section of ten, we were guided to a table. Also and very important to note, when entering the restaurant, we were giving our waiter our name and reservation time, when a customer arrived just behind us with a Chihuahua under his arm. We commented that we did not want a table next to this dog and we were told that it was a service animal and that nothing could be done about it, as it was in fact a 'Service' animal. Truly, the Staff is not aware of the law covering Service animals and Guide dogs. "The Law forbids Service animals from certain premises, typically where food is processed, manufactured, or sold. Guide dogs are allowed into places where food is served or sold, but the law excludes other animals." As we were being seated at our table, the waiter accidently hit my hand, forcing my fingers, finger deep into another customer's food. The waiter apologized, handed me a napkin and then continued to serve the very same food to his customer. Once seated and reviewing the menu, I found dried pasta sauce on the pages of my menu, which certainly was not a good impression; however, consistent with my previous observations. We then ordered some wine and our meal, advising our waiter that my wife has an allergy to citrus fruit, 'lemon, lime, and orange' and that it is very important that she not be served any of these fruits or juices in anything. When the waiter delivered the wine and some water to our table, the water had a wedge of lemon in it. It took a half hour to get replacement water. This type of mistake makes my wife extremely concerned as she questions what her entrée will hold. We waited over 2 hours for the first plate of food to arrive. The family of four, seated at a table near to us forty-five minutes after our seating, received their meal before us. Our first meal delivered was disgustingly dried out and overcooked, as if it had been under a heat lamp far too long. This meal, when ordered, was specifically requested to have 'no black olives' and yet, they delivered it with black olive throughout the entire dish. The second plate of food arrived five minutes after the first and looked horrid, dried out and repulsive. We never did receive the third plate, as we canceled our order and left. As this was now 9pm, our options of dining elsewhere on a Friday night were very limited. When leaving, the Staff comments were: "We are busy on Fridays", "It is the holiday season", "We over booked". We saw this dilemma as a Management issue and an extremely poor one at that. In reviewing the reviews on line, it is evident that we are not alone in our experience nor in our opinion. Terribly disappointing!!! read more

Absolutely horrible first experience here. Reservations were for 8:15 PM and never got in until 8:45 PM making us wait in a very small cellar type cold room. The waitress finally arrived at 9:00 PM to take our order. We got our drinks at 9:30 and our salads and bruschetta at 10:00 PM! We inquired about our meals after we ate the salads and bread and were informed they were just put into the oven at 10:25!! We decided to leave after only having salads and bread and 2 cokes which they deemed was proper to charge us $45.00 for. The dining room was dark and very cramped and very cold. I sat at my table with the back of another gentleman only 2 inches from my hand. Parking was horrible as well as the service. The server never stopped at our table. We had to stop her to inquire. The piccolo garlic fingers were fried dough smothered in parmasean cheese sitting on top of a plate of garlic infused butter, they were good but I thought the dough itself could have used some flavor. The chicken parm was tender and nothing out of the ordinary, the lasagna was ok, nothing spectacular.... I found it pricey. I went for a birthday dinner on a Monday night. It's a small and intimate place but there were also families in there. The restaurant was by no means crowded, as one would expect for a Monday night, so that may have influenced our service. Others have complained about the slow service but we were in and out in under an hour with appetizers and drinks and the servers were very pleasant. As others have mentioned, we were offered a discount equiavlent to the number of years of the birthday being celebrated, which was very nice. You must try the famous garlic bread fingers! It was a simple but very satisfying app. We ordered both the Caesar and garden salads. Usually garden salads are so boring. Theirs was not. It was quite nice! My pasta (rose sauce) was a bit bland but good enough. My partner's pasta which was loaded with veggies and grilled chicken was lovely and full of flavour. We were too full for dessert. We were frequent patron here both dine in and take out usually once a month if not sometimes twice a month and was so sad to see they've chosen to change the restaurant for me that was one place in Windsor that still had a quiet romantic setting however for some reason they did a recent remodelling and changed a quiet romantic restraunt to a glorified cafeteria type setting which is very noisy now and you can barely have a conversation because of the noise level plus you can hear everyone else's conversations so I guess they can hear yours too. I personally think that they will loose customers over this. Maybe they wanted a more updated setting to cater to the younger university crowd I'm not sure why they tried to fix something, which in my opinion wasn't broken, but just my opinion. I would have given it a 5 star review a year ago because the food is very good and that is the only reason that we would drive across the city for takeout but since the renovations I would give it a 0 for the ambiance and the ambiance of a restaurant is half the experience of dining out and would give overall 2.5 because of the food. There are closer restaurants to us and think that one of them will become one of our new favourites. In my opinion BIG mistake Piccolo's I'm sure you'll loose long time good paying customers but will get people still there bc if your coupon gift cards at Costco or the university crowd but not sure how many return visits you will get after people waiting 2 hrs for a meal. It used to be okay in a nice romantic atmosphere where you didn't mind sitting and waiting because you could sit and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine but since the renovations because it's so noisy and decor really uninviting, on the two occasions we have been since the renovations. The servings are very generous and prices are reasonable. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The meal does take a while but you can't hurry excellent. That is why it's called dining. Absolutely brutal. Made a birthday reservation for 4 people at 6:30. Arrived and found we were waiting "for a table to leave". After waiting for 30 minutes and the late party finally leaves, another party is seated ahead of us. As it turns out, there are 18 people in total all waiting with reservations at the same time as our party. Instead of being honest with us when we came in and telling us that they were way behind, they let us and everyone else wait 30 minutes to only then tell us that they were completely back up. I won't return here. I had heard that the food takes a long time to come out, but I guess I didn't fully understand how long. It even says on the menu something like "good takes time but great takes longer". We weren't having drinks and didn't get appetizers. We each got a soup or salad that came with our meal. Our entrée didn't come out until 1 hour AFTER WE FINISHED eating our soup/salad. It was also freezing.....I was so uncomfortable. We we're sitting at the front by the windows....there was cold air blowing in. When offered a seat we picked it (cause it was a booth) but if he had told us it can be chilly there, I wouldn't have chose it. The soup was delicious and the salad was fine. The pasta entrees were just okay....definitely not worth the 1 hour wait. The pasta portions were very large though. All in all we were there for 2hrs and 5 minutes, but with not having drinks or appetizers, it was unreasonable. This is the main reason I won't return. They also had balloons COVERING the ceiling for Valentine's Day (we went 3 days before Valentine's Day and it was busy but not completely full when we put our order in) which looked a little tacky, like something you'd see in a movie. read more
