My dad went to this Auto Zone today to buy a $120 product. Before spending his money, he simply wanted to make sure everything was inside and in good condition, something any customer would want to do. Instead of being understanding, an employee named Karina was extremely rude, unprofessional, and even threatened to refuse service to him. What makes this worse is that her attitude seemed to come from the fact that my dad is ethnic. That kind of behavior is discriminatory and unacceptable. No one deserves to be treated with disrespect because of their background. AutoZone needs to hold this employee accountable and provide better training on how to treat customers with respect. Real attitude problem here...came in for an exchange for a defective product and they didn't want to exchange it. I had to over explain that they gave me a bad part and then they hesitantly exchanged it like they were doing me a huge favor when it's normal to have an exchange policy for defective products.Mind you this was a 10 dollar part!!!even after that the night manager lady decided to go on a whole spiel about policy and literally told me to "fuck off"! I usually have good experiences here, but, tonight I arrived 5 minutes before closing. The entrance was already locked and the manager (Alfredo) would not let me in. I knocked a minute later and he shook his hand to let me know that they are closed. Eventually, a nice sales person let me in and told me I had a few minutes. But apparently, $20 worth of the wrong recommended antifreeze for my car is worth more to AutoZone than a lifetime of my business. Save your receipts or they'll treat you like you stole something from them and you're trying get rich by returning two gallons of cheap, stolen antifreeze. Went to have a battery tested and/or buy a new one. When we walked in there were 2 employees at the counter, the female was helping a customer and the male was standing behind the counter. We were not greeted, we had to ask about getting the battery tested and were informed they do not test motorcycle batteries. We then asked if they carried replacements and were told "they are all over there". We walked toward the wall of batteries but only saw large size auto batteries and asked about motorcycle batteries and the female replied "they are right there in front of your face". We received no assistance, no offer to look up our battery to see if the replacement was even in stock, no one checked to see if we needed help so after a few minutes we decided to leave. We went straight to O'Reilly where we were greeted as soon as we walked in, asked if we needed help, our battery was looked up. Unfortunately it was not in stock but the worker looked up the closest store that showed it in stock, and called the store to verify they actually had it. We purchased it in Newark and got our core refund then went to Fremont showed our receipt and picked up our new battery. The employees at the Fremont O'Reilly were super nice as well by the way. Overall the experience at Autozone was enough to make me a loyal O'Reilly customer. read more

One of my headlights went out so I figured AutoZone would have a bulb to take care of this before I get a ticket. When I came up to the counter to find out which bulb I need, there was only one person sitting down, playing on their phone, and oblivious to everything else. Once I got the right bulb, another worker offered to help me put it in to make up for the wait. The bulb got put in, and I went on my way. I still had trouble seeing at night, and I asked my mechanic to check my headlights. My mechanic called me back saying that the bulb wasn't put in properly, and it came loose, melting through part of the headlight! The mechanic said there's no way to fix it except by replacing the entire headlight. Over $500 for parts and labor! When I came back to the store a week later looking for some compensation, I was basically told "tough cookies" just because I misplaced the receipt. Many AutoZone locations have people that do know cars, but this place isn't one of them. Do yourself and your car a favor and go elsewhere! read more

However my auto registration was to expire in September and I needed to have a smog test soon. Last April I went to have my Mitsubishi Montero Sport inspected. Due to the age of my car as expected one of the problems was the catalytic converter - the cancer when it comes to failing the smog inspection. While going through the process of trying to troubleshoot different components of my car, I went into this store to buy a new car battery and starter motor. Every time I asked Jose question related to trouble shooting my car's electrical system, he was able to provide me with some really good advice that helped me get my car up and running again. It is really refreshing to find someone who provides good customer service nowadays. I found that Jose L. was very knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and very helpful. They definitely put the right person in charge while the store manager is away. Shout-out to Jose for all the help! My car's battery died (on my birthday, no less!) and I got a jump to bring it to AutoZone and get a replacement. There seems to be one brand of battery here (Duralast), but it comes with a 3-year free replacement plan. However, my car's battery situation is kind of tricky and I was having trouble getting it out. AutoZone provides free tools for just such an occasion. Once I had unscrewed it, it was too heavy to pull out by hand (due to a lack of leverage), so Jose came out and helped with a special battery clasp (I guess I'm not the only one who needs this sort of thing if there's a special tool for it). Then, when I was having trouble getting the new battery tightened in place due to it having a different shape on the top than the old one, Jose again came out and helped me for several minutes, saving me a trip to the dealership. Very, very helpful and seemed happy to help. Thanks, man! Will gladly come here again for any additional auto needs. read more

So surprised that no one had reviewed this location. I'll be the first to admit I'm not very handy when it comes to cars. So when a bulb went out on my Mercedes ML350 I decided to stop by. So after disassembling the bulb in the parking lot I brought it into the store still connected to the bracket and showed it to Raul (store manager) he was able to find the replacement and showed me how to prep the bulb so it wouldn't burn out (apparently moisture burns out license plate bulbs..like I said before I'm a car noob). I was on a road trip and just needed windshield washer fluid. The worker here ran off and got it for me along with a funnel. I was so surprised. For the most part the people there are nice, but as a hobbyist trying to fix an old car, I would take knowledgeable over kindness any day. My last experience there: I went in looking for an oil filter wrench. I pulled two different cap style attachments up to the counter and asked for their advice. They sold me on the universal one over the single-fit one. I used a 20% coupon and when I asked the clerk if I could keep the coupon she replied (as if in a way to say I don't give a hoot what the hell you do) "Sure..." I drive home and low-and-behold the piece of junk universal fit did not do the job. So I drive right back and explain what happened -- the same clerk looked like she was annoyed I came back. She then rang me up for the single-fit oil cap, and I asked if I could use the coupon that SHE GAVE BACK TO ME. She said, "I think this only works once, so..." Low-and-behold-numero-dos! The coupon worked again. So, this time clerk-girl says, "Oh, well I'll need to take this from you this time." Biznitch... You wasted my time selling me on crap parts, and now you're taking away the coupon you said I could keep. This sealed the deal on me never returning here again. Bonus: The filter cap didn't even fit the filter it was made for. I had to ring the old filter with duct tape to make it fit snug. Bonus 2: I also ordered a part through their online store, and it didn't ship for 1.5 weeks. I emailed them asking what was going on with my order, and instead of a reply with an apology or an explanation, I just got an expedited shipment notification. If you want a reliable autoparts store with a knowledgeable staff, go to NAPA. Special kudos to Jose! I had been running around trying to find a replacement battery for my Civic but the first two locations I visited were out of stock. The second location called the Newark location and confirmed that they had it in stock. I drove over immediately and was surprised to find that they already had the battery on the counter waiting for me. The lady at the counter/register (unfortunately I didn't catch her name) was very pleasant to deal with. Jose (whom I believe is the manager) came out and installed the battery for free with no fuss(And it was on the cooler side and somewhat drizzling at the time).
