Foremost, this place is not visible on Peck Road. You need to go thru a 2 way curvy alley-like entrance. It is accessed on Peck Road. But you have to look for the sign. Once you get to parking lot, you will see parked food vendors, etc. This was my first time visiting this place. Now I hate this place. Its not worth the travel. No matter what anyone says about this being a junk yard. You can accept what you want. I wont. I have been to most southern cali junk yards. This one is plain bad: Foremost, there is loose gravel every where. Although they have stolen shopping carts every where. It is difficult to roll them over all those loose rocks. I can imagine its difficult to do some serious pulling from underneath the vehicles. Secondly, I came here due to a list of vehicles that were available a day prior. This was on their official website. When I arrived, those vehicles were dated weeks b4 they were posted on website. I know this because the dates are marked on al vehicles. Thus, all the good stuff was gone. The vehicles were completely gutted. I came here for nothing. They do not get new vehicles every day. Check their website. Look at pics of vehicles they just got. Come the same day or next day and everything is gone (engine, trans, suspension, lights, mirrors....all the way down to emblems). Although they do have an ok selection of domestic vehicles. I was frustrated trying to push shopping cart through this place. Too many loose rocks. Also, the WORKERS do not clean up behind patrons. I understand that patrons make a big mess when they pull parts. But that big mess is every where. Every aisle is full of debris. You have to move heavy and light part debris out the way if you are going down an aisle. Its good they do not blood suck patrons by having a so-called primo lot like a lot of lkq places have. But thats the only good about this place. For the people who say this place is huge and one needs a map. Well, if you go to their official website, you will see a color coded map. The color codes separate trucks, imports, gm vehicles, ford vehicles, and chrysler vehicles. Its not accurate in terms of make. But it helps you not get lost. For those who get surprised by non tier pricing (flat rat pricing). All you need to do is go on their website. They have pricing for everything. Just make sure you know exactly what you are buying. Dont just go to cashier and show them part. Some times they dont know what you got. So they will either upcharge or downcharge for something close to what you got. Other times they know what you got. But they will upcharge for something similar. Especially if what you got is cheaper. There are dishonest cashiers and good ones. But more dishonest. So pay attention. Also, a quick note about tier pricing: Its pretty much a level pricing for an item. There are no rules to this. Its not about size, condition, color, vehicle, etc. There is no regulation. Tier charge is pretty much decided by cashier. When you pull a part that has tier pricing (headlights, tail lights, etc), make sure you set your highest price b4 u make it to cashier. That way you can tell them u dont want it if it exceeds your highest price. When they charge you, make sure you know which price they charged (g1, g2....all the way to g7). The highest number after "g" is the highest leveled charge. At any any rate, all of this info (full parts price list, map of yard) is readily available on their website. Its up to you to access it. They like ignorant buyers. Its easy to take advantage of them. What you dont know may hurt you. At any rate, I will never return here. read more

Needed a used 15" decorative wheel for my Ford Explorer, I never liked the way the standard steel spare wheel looks after having to switch out a flat. Before going to LKQ I checked online for competitive prices. LKQ's prices and selection beat everything hands down ! And being able to see the piece in person was the icing on the cake. The place is vast, hot, dusty and grimy, but what do you expect for a junkyard ! Dress accordingly, bring your own tools and a bottle of water. Bring some gloves too. And maybe even a small dolly or wheeled push cart. The place had loads of Explorer parts and even complete vehicles. I had several picks to choose from. And the day I was there salvaging for wheels happened to fall on a special 40% off discount day. I walked out of there with not one but two 15" oval slotted aluminum wheels( one mounted on a good tire& one wheel only) for a Ford Explorer and a hard to find original interior piece... total cost $62.00 Getting in costs $3,,, small price to pay to peruse such a large assortment of vehicle parts. I called to sell them my moms old van ! The van had brand new tires which had less than 100 miles on them . I got a quote from them if I dropped van off they offered me 675 for a complete van . When I arrived the guy started pin pointing bad things on van and said he was going to have to deduct the price on van . I was so mad I told him never mind I'll just take it home. Hours say 7:30- 5:00pm when you call. When you show up, their lazy butts don't open until 9:30am while they are just standing around chatting, as the line builds outside waiting. On top of that, they are just rude or grumpy for no reason- they all must be having a bad life, not a bad day. :( Sign says no kids under 16 WITHOUT supervision. I tried bringing my son in with me who is 5 and very well behaved, to help me look for one simple part and they wouldn't let him in. Let's face it, trying to keep up supply with the massive population of the LA area is a hard thing to do. Most cars are thoroughly picked over, but I still usually find what I am looking for. $3 admission is on the high end. It used to be $2. The prices vary significantly for the actual parts. Regardless there prices are on the high side. I paid $65 for a beat tire and rim for a 98 Jeep Cherokee. I don't know if I would go back here, I think I could have got a rim & new tire off the net for maybe a little more... and it would have been new. I had a good experience with LKQ because of the person at the 'holdings' sector, Fernando! I got my moms old car retired here through the BAR program. It was very quick and easy to make an appointment through the operator. On the day we were supposed to bring in the car, our car did not start and had to be jumped. We got to the appointment late and the appointment representative was a bit stern about us not making to the appointment on time, but it was reasonable. I'd like to thank Fernando for being patient and kind to my mother and I and explaining to us the process of how the car is retired. He told us the car needed to be able to start on it's own to pass the program for us to sell it for $1000-$1500. We got the battery to be replaced, brought the car back, did the paperwork, and were on our way out with our check. The employees there were direct and helpful. Goodbye to our old car~ read more

I m OK with this salvage yard that u can pick your part from cars available for inventory check on their web site. Except that it was a big hassle just to return the core of something u picked n replaced on your vehicle. Was told to wait for everyone in line to get through the gate before they can allow me in because of some "core return paper work." If the line is long, it could b a long wait under the hot sun! Poor customer service in this respect treating your customers like this when they just need to return the core n get a few bucks back. And when you get a refund for the core, they don't even return you the sales tax charged for the core value. Was told by the cashier that they don't ever refund the sales tax charged for the core for decades! Maybe the Franchise Tax Board of CA shoud consider auditing them for this and their cash collection at the gate... read more

I drove all the way from LA then picked up my mechanic friend in Glendale to see whether this place had the car to get this part. Long story short-No car, no part. Reading these reviews makes me think that not too many people know what to expect when entering a junk yard. As a man who has been to countless junkyards in between Southern California and northwest Washington, I'd like to add my $0.02. This is a great junk yard. They have long hours which is always appreciated for do-it-yourselfers. This place is pretty big, which is also good. So big that they have port-o-potties all over, which is also appreciated for those jobs that take a long time! They have the yard organized roughly by country of origin, and then car make. It's quite easy to find the car you need. Every vehicle is set up on steel posts to make underbody access easy. They get new cars every day, so the variety is always changing, which is great when you are trying to find a certain part. They have hand wash stations, a nice touch that a lot of yards don't have. An amazing taco truck sits outside the gate, a god send on long, hot days Now the reason I only give 4 stars: - $2.00 admission is an annoyance, and they only accept cash for this. - Prices on some parts could be more fair, but they are willing to barter if you aren't shy - they do not have a catalogue of their inventory, but based on the size of this yard and the rate they get new vehicles in, expecting an accurate and complete catalogue is a lot to expect. Junkyard hunting is fun, though not for everyone. Overall I recommend this yard. If you're willing to go to a junk yard at all, this one is a pretty good example. read more

Went for the first time looking for a hood for my car and found one with no issues. You have to take your own tools and remove parts yourself but they have wheelbarrows or carts to help you push the big stuff. This place really needs to check their prices on some items. I brought up an evaporator from a 2000 Accord, since I was getting a bumper anyways and it was right there. The inner bumper 50 bucks, and they wanted 50 bucks with tax for a used evaporator. I went on Amazon and got a new evaporator for $45, and inner bumper for $37, shipped to my house. They are living in a pre global market past. Check online first, new is probably cheaper. read more

First because this place is a car cementary, which I don't know why they charge so much for a part that is used already and some of the parts are way off the price from buying a new one. Plus they charge for warranty and core. In my opinion is not an auto part like AutoZone, Pepboys or Oreilly's were they charge for a core. I think I got $300 -- I don't really remember anymore -- but it wouldn't smog, it needed as much as $10K in repairs according to my mechanic, and I was just done. The scammers here will try to charge you $20 extra for worn out tires on a rim unless you pay their hacks to remove the tire and damage the rim with their truck tire breaker and pry bars. One even refused to dismount tires from low profile wheels because they aren't dumbasses like the workers here and know they would mangle an aluminum rim. I went in looking to scavenge a few parts off some 90's jeeps they had listed on the website inventory. I only found one of the two parts I was looking for as the specs of the vehicles they had in the yard didn't exactly match mine, but I had gone in expecting that to be the case anyway. Everyone I interacted with who worked at the yard was kind. $4 and change for an air intake hose that cost $50 new elsewhere. Add on the $3 admission fee and it was still a very fair price. Unfortunately all of these previously-independent pick-a-part and pull-a-part yards in the Los Angeles area have been purchased by LKQ, the price-gouging company. I went online and saw the price of a used seat is $39.99 (up $10 from last year). I went to the yard, got lucky and found exactly one possibility, fought it out of the car, and when I got to the window the price was $70 (plus environmental fees and taxes). You see, they charged me for the power motors IN the seat, which came from the factory IN the seat. To get them out I'd have to disassemble the bottom of the seat. For $70 I could've just gone to craigslist and not taken the seat out, myself, and probably gotten a better seat. And yes, it would've come with the power motors. In addition to higher prices and sneaky pricing, the yards now have cars closer together, are less maintained, and not as well organized. One advantage? It's now not as crowded as people learn to go elsewhere. read more

I've found some parts and some hard to find parts at this yard for my vehicles in order to pass smog test and to keep my trucks running. Some old parts you'll find once and never find again. I've noticed there are a few regular guys (Mexican and Jamaican) that are in the yard everyday pulling engines out of Toyota's and Nissan's and they aren't shy about doing it while you're working on the same car. Guys here don't have a sense for good judgment or courtesy when someone else is working on a car, it's dog eat dog mentality here. But no sense getting into a fight, you just have to stay cool and go with the culture. The website is not kept up to date, it's always days behind so when you do see your vehicle and go to the yard, somebody has already taken the part you want or the part is totally junk. Timing is not a strong point of the website. Sometimes the cashiers over charge by saying "that's the closest description to the part you're buying" when actually their is a accurate description and lower price for the part you're buying. No doubt intentionally done by the cashier. The culture at this yard is what it is and it won't change. You need to stay cool and have some luck when you go to Monrovia yard. read more
