The view of the pond was beautiful. The water fountain splashes water back into the pond as the ducks and white geese swim by. The rusted statue in the water wasn't there before. Thought I saw some nice looking koi in the pond. I thought someone had wipe my memory. It looked quite different from the last time I came here. The statue of the little boy is not here anymore. I later found out from Friends of Ashley Pond Park on Facebook.com that it was updated and rededicated on May 9, 2014. The geese are named Brownie and Homer, but I also read that Brownie was murdered. So sad.

There are seats all throughout the routes. The first third of the trail isn't as shaded but the entire last portion is quite shaded. That hike definitely is not for the faint of heart and pushed my limits at the top (you are high and it seems scary) but it is one of my most memorable hikes all around for the scenery and unique experience. A must visit! For those who don't to do the ladder hike, you can still walk to the bottom of it and look up and get a good view. So there is something for all levels here. The scenery is gorgeous. It does get windy here sometimes (we had a lot of wind blasting us as we were climbing the ladders) so be careful and be prepared for that. The nature all around is beautiful. Additionally, there are some tables so you could bring a picnic. Staff in the visitor center is very friendly and has lots of great recommendations of what to do here or nearby. A must do! This was the highlight of my trip to this area and I can't recommend it enough :)

I really don't know why this place wasn't packed. Really. This place has a ton to offer to the community. We were there for the pool, and it cost $2 per person to swim and use the water slides. The snack bar was closed in the middle of the day for some reason, and they seemed under staffed, but maybe with so few people using the center it was enough people. There is a very impressive skate/bike park out back that three teens were using. Apparently the ice rink is a big draw, but it was under repair while we were there.
