Ive been going to this restaurant for over 10 years, once or twice a year, always with friends to celebrate an occasion. Went again last night (2 couples) at the request of the other couple who live at least 30 km away. For us it's local. Here what had been consistent over the last 10 years. Never had a bad or mediocre meal. Always been excellent. Every single time. 4 different meals last night, pizza, Tuscan chicken salad, veal parm, chicken parm. All excellent. Service attentive, friendly. An almost too many daily specials. Quantity of food 3 of the 4 people required boxes to take home surplus food. This is not pub food. There are no French fries here. This is a very good place for perfectly cooked quality food. Is it pricy? Compared to pub food yes, compared to the keg, no. 4dinners, 2 table apps, non alcoholic drinks, no dessert. All in including tip just a little over $200 for 4. Ambience, a tad tight and depending on who is in the restaurant could be noisy. Very popular place for locals who want a little better place and menu items you don't normally see in a pub type restaurant. Plus real tablecloths. In the current heatwave we are having the a/c was having trouble keeping up. I'm giving this a 5 star. It has been very consistent for the 11 years I have lived in this small town. For a more relaxed experience, excellent food and relaxed semi fine dining experience go, please next time you are in this area. read more

Do not recommend. Way over priced especially for the quality. Food is mediocre at best. Flavourless and overpriced. Service was poor and inconsiderate. We were a party of two, with a reservation, seated on the patio. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive. We were not checked on once. Servers were focused on providing better service to tables of four instead of giving even basic service to the three tables of two. When our food did arrive we were ready to leave. Turkey and Brie sandwich appeared to be deli counter meat and lacked flavour. Mediterranean pizza also lacked flavour and was comparable to delivery pizza. Great service makes all the difference! Popped by this cute bistro passing through the city with my boyfriend on a Saturday afternoon and ended up on the patio overlooking the water. We were pleasantly surprised by the view and more so, the service. Friendly and welcoming from the get go. We were headed to friends for dinner so we opted to share an app. They had a Brie special on and when I asked about gluten free options, the sever immediately went to check it they had gluten free bread available - they did! Was a delicious app. We also had Ceasars that were excellent! Overall, a great spot. We definitely plan to check it out for dinner sometimes. The meals coming out looked great and smelt even better. Jan 2/20: My first review of a new decade! Kind of a boring but a surprisingly pricy meal. I ordered a Caesar salad & a roast beef sandwich. The salad was just run of the mill. The sandwich was that same reheated protein that many restaurants turn out. Had that weird taste as usual. All this for only $25.00 for a salad & sammy! Our server Morgan was very polite & efficient. I cannot say enough good things about this place: amazing service, top notch presentation, quaint ambience with water front views and plenty of parking. But the FOOD! If you follow my reviews you know I love food! I opted for the pizza because I love a flat bread pizza and it did not disappoint, delicious crust, tons of toppings and good quality cheese. My husband had the chicken manicotti and omg I was over the top with the flavours: red Italian sweet peppers on top with I think goat cheese then delicious cheese filled manicotti with chicken, I couldn't keep my hands off his plate! My sister got the panko chicken- I am not a chicken fan but this was so good to me so if you like chicken you will be happy! Latte was delish, I love a perfectly crafted coffee to finish a great meal. The menu is rather big with many specials so I was initially thinking "oh please just do a few things well instead of trying to do a million things mediocre" but I was wrong! Great spot with a great atmosphere! We went on a Thursday night at 7:45 and the place was packed. We took a long time deciding because, while the menu isn't crazy big, there were so many good options. I ended up getting the chicken special (lightly breaded chicken with a spinach & artichoke sauce with sundries tomatoes, garden veggies, and mashed potato) and it was great! The sauce was a bit too creamy for my liking, but that's just my preference. I found the prices okay and the sizes a good size. I plan on going back. read more

Out for a drive with my wife and we stopped in Port Perry for dinner at Pickles and Olives (referral from a visit earlier in the day to Applewood Farm & Winery). What a great decision. Excellent menu and the best staff experience in years. The food tasted great and we could have chosen many different meals from their menu. Our waitress, Michelle, was incredible and the owners also came around and turned on heaters to ensure that the patio dining was perfect. ... and on top of everything the prices are very reasonable. read more

Seems like a nice spot. Asked our Server what the Specials were for the night and was told Chicken Parmigiana, etc, etc. Ordered the Chicken Parmigiani and got a completely different meal. (At least there was chicken?) Went to pay and was charged the Full Amount. Not very courteous. When going to eat for Dinner, you expect all of your food to come at once and to eat as a party. I don't want you to bring me food 20 minutes later when everyone's finished eating, bring a pad of paper and write down the order. Waitress didn't even have a pad and paper so it's no wonder the order was wrong. Not happy about the Waitress'/Managers Mistake. Will not be back. PS. Get a Fly Zapper. read more

Was exploring Port Perry yesterday and came across this little place as we needed a snack to hold us over until later in the evening. Ordered a Mediterranean pizza for the two of us. It was fresh, delicious and just what we wanted. Servers were welcoming and friendly. Will be back sometime in the future for dinner. read more

Had a late lunch here. Friendly (not overly) service, prompt food and drinks. Had the Irish coffee to take the chill out on this cold day. A delight. Fresh whipped cream and sugar rim were just right. The hot coffee against the cool cream were perfect complements. Hubby had a large sandwich with ham and peppers on a giant Italian bun. Nothing else on the plate except a pickle. My Caprese thin crust pizza, with pesto, boccincini, and tomato was so good that my hubby (who was full) finished the proffered slice. Highly recommend. Prices are more in line with downtown Toronto than a small town. $4.95 to add soup to a sandwich. Pizzas $12-14. Heads up that the tap water is terrible (in my opinion). They do have bottled water. My wife and I decided to go out and try a restaurant that we hadn't been to before. The Pickle and Olive in Port Perry is a quaint restaurant with views of Lake Scugog. We didn't have reservations but we're seated immediately. Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. There is a good choice of delicious food. My wife had a house salad as an appetizer, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had chicken gumbo soup, which was nice and spicy - the way I like it. For our main courses, we both chose veal Parmesan which was one of the specials for the day. Portions were sizable, and delicious, but mine was more warm than hot. read more

My husband and I have been to this establishment twice recently. The food is pretty good. The staff is wonderful. The interior of the restaurant needs to be a bit more cohesive. It's kind of a mixed bag of design -- ome very early '90s decor and some early 2000s. The first time I came I had the veal parm. Definitely not the best I have had but not the worst either. We came in the evening (a Wednesday at 7:30) with a group and the place was packed but had a really good vibe. My wife and I have been here twice and we absolutely love it. The wait staff are all very friendly and helpful, while the food and atmosphere are excellent. On our first visit we went with friends who told us to wait for the specials rather than ordering from the menu. We weren't disappointed; I ordered the beef tenderloin which was aged and cooked perfectly. The menu is pricey but it's definitely worth it for a special occasion or date night. read more

My first time here with my family. The food was fresh and delicious. The prices are comparable to any medium/ high end restaurant. All ingredients are fresh. The service was very good. We had a wonderful late lunch here on Saturday. I was surprised the lunch specials were still being offered at almost 3pm but was very happy they were! All the portions were generous, the food was very fresh and the chicken breast was expertly grilled and perfectly seasoned. My mother in laws salad was big enough for her to share and even I had a bit of my sandwich left over to give to my husband. We loved the ambience and over looking the lake. It was nice to be in a quiet, cool and comfortable place eating delicious food all the while paying a fair price. We treated ourselves to dessert to go and really enjoyed the chocolate cake, carrot cake and lava cake later that night. The only thing I would improve on would be the speed of the service. Although we completely understood why it might have been taking a bit longer when we saw our waitress serving a table of ten at the opposite end of the rather large restaurant. The food is always served hot, the staff are kind and helpful, the menu has an excellent selection of great options that makes choosing hard to do. My family and I love this place and are regular patrons. Always wait to hear the specials they'll make choosing even harder. They are currently constructing a deck outdoors that will make a lovely space for sitting in the summer. read more
