My wife and I made a COSTCO run in Clermont to return some items (Tramontina dutch ovens chip badly and the Dyson heat + cool doesn't work as advertised) and checked out old town for lunch options. Our friends recommended Cosa Nostra but, being a sucker for empanadas, my wife suggested Pico Bistro instead. Located on the bottom floor of the Montrose Street Market, Pico Bistro operates from a small space. After looking at the menu, my wife ordered the #4 (Beef with green olives and eggs) and #19 (Beef, sausage and cheese) empanadas ($4.33 each) with fries ($3.99). I ordered the picanha (steak) served with chimichurri and fries ($16.50). We each had a Coke Zero ($2.50 each per can!) in a can to wash it down with. My wife liked her empanadas, especially dipped in that pico sauce it came with. My steak was just OK...really needed that chimichurri sauce to add some flavor. The thin steak was cooked on what looked like a portable flat top. All in all, I thought lunch was nothing to write home about, except perhaps for the empanadas. The value certainly wasn't there, not to mention a 2.5% processing fee added to credit card payments. Lunch for 2 with tip came out to $43. read more

This is inside of a bustling food hall. You order at the counter and eat where you please. I ordered just one beef and cheese empanada and it was outstanding! The meat was flavorful and the cheddar cheese was perfectly sharp. I also loved the crust- it was very light and not greasy at all. Genuinely the best empanadas I've had in Central Florida - I live a good 45 mins away from Clermont and I'd make that drive just for these empanadas without even questioning it. These beauties come in a wide variety of flavors and are perfectly fried - they just melt in your mouth and taste so so good. Delicious empanadas! I stopped by after reading about Pico Bistro on Yelp! This building is a mini foot court or market. The bistro is located in the back of the building downstairs. They have several empanada options, but they may not have all on stock. When I visited yesterday, they were out of the chicken and lobster empanadas. I was able to get the beef, egg and olive and also the salmon, cream cheese empanadas. They were cooked perfectly and piping hot. The sauces are good too. The green sauce will definitely leave a little burn after enough of it. The red sauce is sweeter. Nice place with affordable, tasty lunch options. read more

Empanadas we're delicious. Took one star off because I ordered family box of 18. I told them what I wanted I picked them up probably a half hour before they closed... The lady at the front desk instead of letting me know they decided to just add whatever flavors I think because I picked up before closing... she probably figured he they won't care ... we'll I looked at the numbers and noticed and ran back in and told her I was unhappy and that this is not how business should be run you don't just add whatever you want. You inform the customer you are out of flavors and let them pick... she ended up making me some different ones and the owner texted and apologized to me. They have a great selection to choose from. On this trip my daughter ate 2 of the cheese empanadas and I tried the beef/cheddar and mac&cheese/bacon. I did get to try a bite of the cheese as well. The food was hot and tasted delicious. The staff was friendly and was able to answer any questions we had. My daughter's favorite thing is that the empanadas are labeled by number so that you can know which one is which. Pico Bistro opened in the Montrose Street Market and are located down stairs. The staff is very nice and they handled the Sunday crowd well. My daughter and I ordered three empanadas for $10.00. This is a special that they are currently running. We picked a pulled pork and pineapple, beef and cheddar and a Brie with apricot. Each empanada had an edible number identifying what it was. We wait about fifteen minutes while they were being made to order and deep fried. All three were delicious. The insides and the crust was amazing. The Brie and apricot empanada was loaded with Brie and the beef and cheddar had the perfect ratio of meat and cheese. The meat was seasoned nicely. We both also loved the pork with pineapple. Empanadas are all about the dough and the filling, right? Pico Bistro fries up some of the lightest, crispiest and most unique empanadas I have ever tried (and I try them anywhere I can.) The dough is not dense, it's airy. The portions are generous. But where else have you tried a 'duck and brie' stuffed empanada? Or a 'shitake and heart of palm' stuffed empanada? Exactly - they have successfully elevated this well-known street food and they are craveable! I like their combo pricing (3 - $10 or specialty 3 - $12) because the portions are a very good size and this allows for variety! There is so much on this menu that you have to come back for more! FOOD // I tried their specialty combo with 'duck and brie', 'shitake with heart of palm' (vegetarian option), and my kiddo's favorite 'bacon mac and cheese'. The empanadas were made to order and came with your choice of a guava or spicy dipping sauce. GET THEM BOTH. The sauces are well balanced and pack a ton of flavor. Such great pasteis (aka empanadas). The cost is reasonable for the amount of food and service was fast. Being from southern Brazil I compare them to what I'm used to having, and these are a version from another part of Brazil, as I'm used to having the crust lighter and bigger overall. Was disappointed to see the vegan version was out of stock as it was one of the things I was looking forward to having. Not a lot of sitting places indoors so we had to bring it home. It has only been open for six or seven weeks and it is amazing atmosphere it is very classy the food is delicious the empanadas are excellent are they range in price from around 350 to 5 dollars. They have other items on the menu such as gnocchi with different types of potatoes as well as various appetizers. They have wine and beers. All the prices are very reasonable servers servers are extremely helpful and it is a great place to meet friends or have a date. They also have dessert empanadas and sodas and water.
