Delicious!!! The food is as colorful as their truck. Tried Robertson Short Rib, beef bacon, pasilla, broccoli, swiss chard, radicchio, tomato chutney, crispy shallots, layers of flavors, highly recommend. Only $10 per bowl, what a deal! The service was friendly and fast.

Hired them for my daughter's dol. They even impressed my inlaws and their Korean friends.

You can stop looking for a food truck to hire: this is it. I was looking for a healthy, tasty, with a somewhat traditional Korean option food truck to hire for my daughter's first birthday. I had a span of people to please: old white people, old Korean people, middle aged and twenty somethings, health conscious people, gluten free people, foodies and kids. I didn't think this truck existed. After another option fell through, I learned about this one in a roundabout way (why is it so hard to find what food trucks are out there? Is it me?) Philip was easy to deal with and super accommodating. I needed to nudge him a bit sometimes for the documents and estimates, but after a nudge, which was likely after or during a busy weekend he had, he responded immediately with what I needed. He didn't pressure or upsell- I didn't even know I could add options until I asked. We opted for the short ribs and the grandma's pork, and the charred eggplant and screw it, three desserts (no Costco cake for us after all - no regrets). My MIL loved it and so did her friends. I consider that a WIN! They even ordered more than once so they could try both dishes. I feel proud of this and it's because of how amazing this truck is. When their colorful truck showed up, everyone got excited, and I'm pretty sure the party next to ours was super jealous and thought to themselves "why didn't we think of that? We lugged all this stuff here. Dang." We averaged about $20/head for 75 people. For the quality and tastiness and large portions, this is amazing. The folks are friendly and completely professional. We sent them off an hour early and they were in no rush to leave. They packed up our leftovers (donation is another option), cleaned up their truck, and were all around aces. Five million stars. Do it. Hire them. Keep this truck rolling.

14 July 2016 DTLA Art Walk grub // Grandma's Pork, Ugly Fruit Drank (Blueberry), & Robertson Short Rib @picohouse

There's a new food truck on the block and it's the most colourful one I've seen yet! Great concept -- whole grain bowls made with love. Three of the food truck owners are former Bestia cooks so that's definitely a plus in my book. You know their food is going to be amazing having that kind of background in food. Came across Pico House at the DTLA Art Walk last month. We were greeted by this lovely lady who was a joy to speak with even if it was just for a brief moment. The first thing I noticed on their menu is the 'Ugly Fruit Drank.' I was so intrigued as to what kind of concoction that was. So, get this -- you know how when you go to farmers markets, you see all the wonderful produce but obviously (and rightfully so) overlook the ugly overripe (yet still delicious!) fruits? Well, Pico House uses those fruits to make amazing drinks such as the one they had that night at the Art Walk-- Blueberry Drank! You can either get it sparkling/carbonated or flat; we opted for the latter. Super delicious. Just wish they served it ice cold/with ice. Their menu is very simple offering just five different bowls and two sides. My boyfriend went with a large Robertson Short Rib ($13) which had beef bacon, broccoli, swiss chard, radicchio, tomato chutney, and crispy shallots. I, on the other hand, ordered a regular-sized Grandma's Pork ($10) which comprised of gochujang braised pork shoulder, chrysanthemum, garlic confit, green kale, and sesame vinaigrette. I was wow'd by both bowls. Also, I LOVE that they use a base of whole grains rather than just plain rice for these bowls. It's more nutritious and filling that way! I actually was more a fan of what my boyfriend had ordered -- the Robertson Short Rib Bowl. It was flavourful and the meat was so very tender. Don't get me wrong, the Grandma's Pork Bowl was spectacular as well! It had the perfect amount of spice and sweet to it. They also piled on the green kale. So good, so filling! A bit pricey, I gotta admit, but I can tell they use high quality ingredients so there's that. I'd try some other things on their menu if/when I come across this food truck again. Amazing. #findtheyellowdoor

Pickled red onion rings with an "Ugly Fruit" refreshing beverage. Fantastic!!

I rarely do the food trucks at work because their sooo $$! Glad I made an acception today! Pickled red onion rings with Basel sour cream dip! "Ugly fruit" drink made from funky farmers market fruit, sparkling water and mint. Outstanding!! (Pico House food truck) P.S. One of the owners (an adorable young woman) was working the window and was simply charming! With food this delicious, and that kind of personal friendly service, this truck is sure to have continued success!

Alums of Bestia brought us this deliciousness. Fresh, well cooked ingredients that are pretty healthy. Grain bowls filled with veggies and protein. Cost about $10 for a bowl. I've tried the meatball, short rib, and pork. I liked the short rib the best. Loved the onion (red) rings, too. Cute idea with the ugly fruit drink (made with the discarded fruits at farmer's markets that sell for cheaper because they're bruised). The guys running the truck are so nice, too! They noticed we were waiting awhile for our food, so they gave us free desserts! Their mini fruit popsicles (which sell for a $1!) and their decadent, sinful peanut butter chocolate pudding topped with berry jam and cookie crumble were too good! This could definitely be my once a week splurge if they come by the office that often.

    Grandmas Pork :)

Tried this truck in front of my work in Santa Monica. Saw the amazing reviews on yelp and obviously had to give it a try... Wow- I didn't know I could have such a great culinary experience eating at a food truck. This place is awesome!! Tried the Grandmas Pork bowl - So many yummy flavors! Portions aren't too big, but you'll definitely be content. Prices are reasonable for a food truck. Can't wait for them to come back so I try the short rib!

We get a lot of food trucks that come in to feed us and I have my favorites. Pick house has become one of them today!its good that they had one of the owners outside asking if we've tried them before. After replying "no" she tells me that it's because they're new. Hahaha! Small menus are the best. You don't need much to be a good truck and they're definitely that! I got "Grandmas Pork" because you can always trust grandmas recipe and she didn't disappoint! There was a bit too much of acidity but it made it up for the good amount of savory pork. Had enough heat and sweetness to it and the grains cleaned off the palate. All in all a great truck that looks like a little home. Keep it humble lady and gents and good luck with the business! I hope you do well!!

Crenshaw bowl. Wonderful texture and flavor.

Oh my goodness. This is hands down my favorite food truck and it's healthier! Whole grain bowls with veggies and protein. My favorite is the Crenshaw bowl (chicken meatballs, cucumber, grains, with a coconut lime sauce and no it doesn't taste like coconut). I've also had the short rib bowl. Both are equally as good, just depends on what you're in the mood for. The pickled onion rings were a new twist on classic onions rings served with a side of chive cream cheese. Even thought I'm not a fan of kimichi, the kimchi biscuit was flavorful, spicy, salty and sweet. The ugly drank was unique that day of peach, plum and basil; it was especially refreshing since it was a warm evening. Pico House, I hope you'll spend more time in DTLA area since you're always on the west side. You also have a kind crew of employees.

Grandma's Pork is delicious! Service is fast and friendly. No complaints here, go try them now!

He introduced me to this market years ago and it's fun each time! It's exciting seeing all of the vibrant produce, and often times, I'm introduced to something new! Fruit, Veggies & More | I'm amazed by all of the colorful, vibrant fruit and veggies all around! The samples are fantastic and usually gets me every time! Haha! Everything tastes so fresh, it's such an eye-opening experience! Produce straight from the farm truly makes a difference, it's like an explosion of flavor in a totally different way! I truly can taste the difference! Purchases of the Day | The Blood Oranges were so full of flavor, tasted like half orange and a bit of grapefruit! The Cherry samples were love at first bite; got the large container! The Red Velvet Plums had me at first sight, as I love the name! Haha! They were really good! I tried so many Plum samples & they stood out the most! The peaches were so full of flavor! I immediately imagine putting them in my morning oatmeal, as well as yogurt! They taste so good on their own as well, yum!! Scenery | It's quite the busy market, as there so much going on, but also relaxing atmosphere! This time there were small tables and chairs where people were dining! There was a musician playing a guitar and he started singing to me, it was really cute! People were so friendly, both at the booths and while walking around! Each booth I visited had the friendliest customer service and everyone was so knowledgeable about the items! A special thank you to the sweet girls at the tea booth! Thanks for the incredibly fragrant OSMANTHUS OOLONG tea sample, was absolutely so delicious!! Good variety of produce and lots of prepared food options too. Of course it's near downtown Culver so businesses there are also quite active. Parking in the lot at the mouth of the market; also convenient to reach with public transit. Overall I believe this market is very well rounded. If you're looking for fruits & veg, breads or pastries, and hot food of various kinds, it's all here. Notably there is a kuya with specifically Asian vegetables priced very reasonably! Otherwise, prices range, and if you're looking for a specific farm or brand, you may be out of luck.

One unfortunate aspect to the fruit carts is that the stock is typically hit or miss. Some have mango, some don't and it's the same with everything else, you kind of have a crap shoot when it comes to what fruits will be available. Not here though, the guy has almost every single day: mango, coconut, honeydew, cantaloupe, cucumber, pineapple, jicama, watermelon, orange. Every day, no kidding, and with it being directly outside my place of business this cart is pretty much perfect in every way. The gentleman that runs it is the nicest guy on the block. If something is a little unripe he will keep it real and let you know. Just this morning he sliced me off a piece of mango so I could judge for myself, very kind of him instead of just unloading the mango. I went pineapple instead. I talk to him in broken Spanish, he talks to me in broken English, and somehow it all works out. Bonus points for not filling the fruit in plastic bags either, he uses plastic to-go containers which are much easier to eat from, and no worries on it tipping over if you're driving. He has small $3 boxes up to a $5 size, and if you're a fan of fresh coconut water (like me) he'll crack one open and fill you a cup for $1. Everything that comes out of this stand screams 'refreshing', I love it. I know he works about 9:30A - 4:00P on weekdays simply because he's in the prefect place with a ton of office traffic, don't know if he works weekends. Yesterday afternoon, I went to the ELF warehouse to spend a GatherGreen coupon. The coupon was a…read more$25 for $50 deal, and had expired, so I went in only expecting to trade it in for the original $25 I spent on the coupon, NOT the $50 coupon deal. As it is standard with online coupon services such as Groupon and AmazonLocal that although the promotional value will expire on a specified date, the amount paid WILL NEVER EXPIRE and will continue to be honored by the merchant after the promotional value expires, I assumed there would be no problem. However, where many vendors will not only allow one to spend the amount paid but will even allow the customer to use the promotional value of expired coupons as well, ELF would not even allow me to trade in the GatherGreen certificate for $25 worth of product. I would understand if they simply wouldn't let me use the promotional deal of $50, but just--keeping my original $25 and not giving me $25 worth of products? I was only asking for $25 worth of merchandise, for the $25 I had already paid, yet the girl acted like I was demanding a special favor. She kept saying that the coupon had expired and could no longer be honored. No matter how many different ways I explained it, she couldn't understand that I WASN'T ASKING FOR THE COUPON TO BE HONORED. I wasn't asking to spend the promotional amount of $50, I only wanted to spend the non-promotional amount of $25. This is STANDARD PRACTICE with every other online coupon service I've tried. Finally I gave up, when my phone alerted me that my meter was about to expire. Probably for the best, as my capacity for civil interaction felt like it too was about to expire. I am not one to yell or throw tantrums, but as I walked back to my car, I could see how one might be driven to such behavior. I also felt sad, because previous to this experience, I would have given ELF five stars like everyone else. Their products--with the exception of the Indonesian cacao--have never disappointed me. I've been in the raw lifestyle and a regular ELF customer for years. Maybe I've been lucky with exceptional service in the past, but this is the only one star review of a business that I've ever given, and I'm not giving them one star because their products aren't good. I'm giving them one star because my experience with the GatherGreen coupon situation was so negative that I was in tears when I left. I'm giving them one star because I don't feel good supporting them by purchasing from them any longer. This was especially upsetting because the other reason I'd gone in to ELF was to set up a wholesale account. Our raw food business has been using ELF's raw pitted botilla olives on a new pizza we released this month, and we've been going through $100 worth of their olives every week. Pizza orders are skyrocketing and we expect to use much more in the near future. However, today with only a little research I found the same raw peruvian pitted dried olives online through another one of our suppliers for $6.25 RETAIL for 8 oz., as opposed to ELF's price of $8.69 WHOLESALE for only 7 oz. We will be saving several hundred dollars a month, thousands a year, by NOT buying through Essential Living Foods. ELF would have made $300-400 a month from us, to start. I hope it was worth it to the ELF customer service lady to treat me as she did, because she lost the company she works for $1000s a year; I just placed an order for three cases of the olives from the alternate supplier I found, in time for next week's orders. At least I have her to thank for inspiring us to look for olives elsewhere. Because of her we will be saving $1000s a year. To me, that's worth the $25 they kept. ...I would also advise against purchasing their GatherGreen coupons. The reason my coupon expired wasn't because I forgot about it. To the contrary I was online several times a week for the duration of the 3-month promotion period, waiting for the items I wanted to come back in stock, and they never did...yet they continued to be in stock at Erewhon and other health food markets (where the coupon wasn't applicable, as it was an "online-only" deal). When I mentioned this to the customer service rep, she informed me that they only do the coupons to advertise their business and to clear their inventory of less popular items. Fair enough. But I won't be buying again.

ELF was my business' go-to wholesale ingredients supplier for years, and the fact that the company…read moreI handed my business over to utilizes them too definitely sweetened my licensing deal. These same ingredients have been staples of my diet, and they are also available at health food stores- you may have never noticed where those bulk brazil nuts or cashews you buy come from, but often it's Essential Living Foods on the bin labels. They sell everything from nuts to cacao powder to very niche raw superfood ingredients like maca and mesquite. Their wholesale prices are comparable to the larger corporate devil UNFI, and their retail prices are fair. I haven't tried any of their snacks, since I generally make my own, but they are made with the same high-quality ingredients and available at every health food store I frequent.

They had various kinds, and so I had a great deal, ordering the pork, chicken, and first time ever, pineapple tamales. The three tamales were large, with a sweet corn surrounding its inside of stuffed pork, or chicken or pineapple. The pineapple tamale filled with fresh pineapple is a revelation. A+ A little further down they had the mandatory kettle corn, in the corner a barbecue place where the owner was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, but I was already packed with goodies to go, so I made a mental note to come back on another Saturday. I saw a pupusa stand, which is El Salvadoran and I would've ordered some pupusa's but I had the three tamales. I did order a large watermelon juice to go. There were fruit and vegetables down another row, which I did not go down since I will be leaving and I can't store those but from what I ordered and saw, this small farmers market has enough wonderful choices. I will be back.

Small market during the week that runs late, until 7pm. That comes in handy. I always forget cash…read morewhen I come to these but at least entry is free. Some food stands including Salvadorian, baked goods, juices, and then all your produce stands. They're relocating next time so I guess I caught them on the last day they're actually at La Cienega. As usual some stuff is cheap but you pay more for local stuff. I just didn't need anything I didn't get at the store already. Sorry farmers.

It's in the front of the kaiser hospital and it has every thing you truly need for a healthy diet for CHEAP. There's a fruit stand ( only fruit) she's right smack dab in the middle. I got cherries from her! Delicious and freshly picked. Next to her was the vegetable guy who had a few baskets of strawberries, got some kale, carrots and strawberries from him ( he quickly sold out of the few strawberries he had and BOY WERE THEY SWEET! Omg like nothing you would find at a store) Then there's the fresh juice lady, bought a bottle of fresh veggies blended ( to add to my smoothies everyday, perfect for that and it last 4 days ) Fresh pastry lady ( her muffins were made with some sort of honey and not sugar) Then dips/ tortillas, Salsa guy ( got some crab dip) Then pita and hummus guy ( got some pita chips) I missed the peach cobbler man because I got there early and vendors were still setting up but I was trying to be in and out and I accomplished that BUT I ran across the peach cobbler guy on slauson and la brea at the gas station this pst Saturday and got 4 peach cobblers! You CANT BEAT THIS GUYS CRUST ANYWHERE! Can't wait to see him again tomorrow: There were a few other vendors I just didn't even get to see as my hands were full and I was ready to go. Excited to go back tomorrow. It's small, but the prices are cheaper than usual and there's free parking. You can't beat it!!
