My uncle suffered a stroke in mid-September, leaving him nearly paralyzed on the left side of his body. With limited insurance, we were advised by family members in the medical field that he would require extensive rehabilitation to regain the use of his arms and legs. As a family, we were prepared to accept the reality that our uncle would need caretakers once he left the hospital. My uncle was admitted to El Rancho Vista Healthcare Center alone, as all of our family members were still out of state. He told us that he was warmly greeted by two occupational therapists, Erik and Sandra, as well as the physical therapist, Tim. Our family is forever grateful to these three therapists! Erik, Sandra, and Tim evaluated my uncle and told him that there was a chance he could regain the use of his arms and legs. However, it would require him to work very hard each day and not miss a single therapy session. My uncle often mentioned that Erik became like a grandson to him, pushing and encouraging him every day. He also said that if it weren't for Erik's persistence, he would have fallen into a depressive state and remained paralyzed. After two weeks, my uncle updated us, sharing that he was now able to use both his arms and legs. Our family met with Carina, the director of social services, and Jeanette, the director of nursing. Both were professional, transparent, and incredibly helpful as we made the decision to bring my uncle home. We were instructed to meet with Erik, Sandra, and Tim for caretaker training. The entire experience with them was uplifting. Erik was very thorough with each instruction, explaining the importance of every step before moving on to the next. Sandra and Tim showed immense care, encouragement, and always ensured my uncle's safety. We are forever grateful for the outstanding staff at El Rancho Vista Healthcare Center. Thank you, Carina and Jeanette, for your family-oriented approach in helping us bring my uncle home. Thank you, Erik, Sandra, and Tim, for giving my uncle hope, helping him regain strength, and guiding him back to a normal life. El Rancho Vista Healthcare Center is in excellent hands because of all of you.

My sister had a beautiful big room with all of her things in it including her desk, computer, TV and DVD player, large bookshelves, and pictures on the walls. It really felt like her own apartment. She was unable to walk and was moved from her wheel chair to her bed in a hydraulic lift. The staff were warm and loving and always ready to do whatever she wished. She liked to do things on schedule so they helped her to set up a daily plan. Every member of the staff was friendly, patient, and kind. They listened to her requests and and appreciated her humor and wit. She enjoyed the home cooked food that was prepared for her and the other residents. And, in good weather often was taken outside to eat lunch or look at the beautiful, quiet garden. When she was first there she joined in exercises every day after breakfast. Our family visited her often and on occasion would take her out to the gazebo in the garden for an ice cream treat or special lunch. We enjoyed having Vanessa celebrate all the holidays in a big way. We had the Easter Bunny visit, visiting musicians, Fourth of July Flags, and Treats for Halloween. We all were very pleased with everything and everyone there. We were fortunate indeed to have found such a wonderful place for my sister to live out her last days. I heartily recommend this very special Board and Care home.

The staff was so lovely and accommodating and as we walked around I noticed that they had at least twice as many staff as I've seen at the other places we've explored. It really made me feel reassured that my family member would be very well taken care of. My mom was also very pleased with the idea of having her own room, and since she loves to garden in her free time, the nurses assured her that she was more than welcome to get her hands dirty if she wanted to. I really wanted to find a place where my mom can feel at ease and happy but where she can still be looked after, especially in an emergency. I think we've found the perfect place.

He used to be very quiet and mostly kept to himself, but this place has truly brought him out of his shell. The staff here is incredible. They are patient, caring, and treat every resident like family. They have gently encouraged him to join in on activities, and now he is actually excited to participate. He has been going to the morning exercise classes, art sessions, and even the wine and cheese socials. He loves the movie nights and scenic drives too, things we never imagined he would do again. The community is beautiful, spotless, and full of warmth. What really stands out is the energy here because everyone seems happy and engaged. Seeing my grandpa laughing, staying active, and making friends again means the world to our family. Oakmont of Whittier has truly given him a new spark, and for that we are forever grateful.

On September 5th we requested a full refund on our deposit, we were told it will arrive in two weeks. We are now entering week 4 and no refund. We've had to call multiple times to inquire on the status of the refund and in multiple occasions not ever receiving callback. I was finally able to speak with spoke Gina and she claimed it would be sometime this coming week. (What the heck does that mean). She could not give a reason for the delay nor a definite date nor an apology. This is without a doubt, poor business practice. The other staff members seem pleasant enough. *Update* Gina called to say that the check was ready. Surprised to us because we were told that checks are only written on Thursday (someone misled). Worse, yet they made the check out to the wrong person. They wrote it out to my mother. She did not leave the deposit. She did not provide financial information and we had specifically asked who will the check be written out to? We were told whoever provided the deposit. We confirmed the name. It should be written out to the person acknowledged. Obviously accounting or billing do not know what they're doing. They are not paying attention to the details. They are not paying attention to instruction.

The owners and staff are very kind and caring people. Mom and I were very happy with their kindness, the food they prepare and serve, constantly doing laundry and cleaning .... They also helped me get hospice care for my mom since her health care provider was dragging their feet and thank God they did. My mom didn't live long because of an ongoing health battle but she was very well cared for. The owner and staff treated us like part of their family. Thank you so much Vivian, Veronica, Sylvia, Mariah and all the rest of the wonderful people who work there.
