Here at the Grove, we've had independent-living friends who've needed temporary assisted living or, with life changes, have moved permanently into such an arrangement in The Hearth (assisted living) or into The Ranch (memory care), or into a more intensive environment, Stewart Cottage. Having lived and worked in the Midwest and East Coast, before moving to SoCal, we're thoroughly familiar with all the options of care; it's clear to us that MVGH is one of the very best we've know. Our staff is dedicated, skilled, and kind. Rarely a day goes by without either my wife or I commenting on what a remarkable, gracious, place this. There is where I met Martha Reyes. Martha reached out to introduce herself and let me know that she would be personally looking after Nancy. I visit The Kensington each day at breakfast, lunch and dinner to help feed Nancy and get a better understanding of what days are like there. To say the least, I continue to be impressed at the amazing level of care that Nancy and all the residents' experience. Of all the care-givers, Martha stands out not only with her level of dedication to all the resident but especially how she nurtures and comforts Nancy through these new tough times. Thank you Martha for being there and for the loving care you give Nancy each day. You now have a special place in my heart. Always Dennis

Not all that glitters is gold…read more I interviewed here and watched staff perform a three-person manual lift for a restroom transfer--something that should be done with a rolling commode, not three people straining with backs bent to keep a resident from falling. This is not a safe lift technique for staff or residents. Especially those who may be fall risks or wheelchair bound - as this resident was. Turns out transfers are routinely done in this unsafe manner because the 25-resident memory unit has only one rolling commode for the whole unit. One. Thats shameful. When this was brought to Director-level management, there was apparently no interest in the resident's care plan or in finding out why the unit wasn't properly equipped. The Director was only interested in finding out who disclosed the information. For a facility charging up to $40,000 a month, this level of basic equipment shortage is unacceptable. And the witch-hunting behavior of management towards nursing staff who bring valid concerns over safety is ridiculous. I am not impressed and I would not recommend.

I spoke to Mauricio (sp?) who spent a lot of time with me on the phone - going over options, explaining the differences between different types of facilities, listening to the particulars surrounding our relative's condition, letting us know what to watch out for in general. Golden Road is bit above our relative's budget but I really appreciated Mauricio's professionalism, candidness, and especially the time he took to share his knowledge with us -- even after knowing that we would be seeking something less expensive than Golden Road. Thank you so much Mauricio!

As her dementia and alzheiner's has progressively worsened and needed 24/7 care. I had a meeting with her physician who recommended and assisted getting mom placed here. It's been over three months since she began residing with Mayflower. I'm estatic with the care, procedures, documentation and treatment she receives from the entire staff. In addition, the cleanliness of the facility is outstanding. Visiting hours for guests are flexible with appointments made within a few days notice and family is allowed to take her out for the day outings - with approval of their physician. I just had a 3 month review with her social worker and she informed me that mom saw a dentist, optometrist in addition, to receiving a flu & covid booster shot. The facility also has activities like game activities, physical therapy, dancing and even threw a Halloween costume luncheon - which mom couldn't stop raving about. If you're considering care of a loved one - I would highly recommend Mayflower Care Center.

A Heartfelt Thank You to an Amazing Healthcare Team at the Monterey Park Convalescent Hospital…read more Our family is deeply grateful for the care my father-in-law received at the Monterey Park Convalescent Hospital when he suffered from a stroke. It was a challenging time for us, but the warmth and dedication of the staff made all the difference. We found them on Medicare.gov with 5 stars rating and they definitely deserve this rating. They also have multilingual staff on board which was very helpful for my father-in-law. Starting from the administrative staff (Veronica, Leticia), and Social Worker (Ms. Bi) were very responsive to our calls, very knowledgeable and informative, resourceful accommodating, and always ready to help. The nurses (Sarah, Daisy, Vicky, Socorro, Angela, Fei, Jessica, Agnes, Elia, Mel, Daniel, Rose, Divine, Zenny, Hannah, and several others); nursing assistants (Maria, Alex, Moses, Gloria, Lupe, Juan, Linda, Yolanda, Vilente, Maple and several others); physical therapists (Rowena, Sue, Rosa, and several others); nutritionist (Norma and staff) were all highly skilled but also incredibly kind and loving, patient, and accommodating. They worked as a team and tirelessly helped my dad 24/7. Every aspect of his care was handled with compassion and professionalism. From medicine feeding, incontinence changes, careful bathing, to well-prepared and personalized meals assessed by the oral therapist and nutritionist, and laundry cleaning, they took good care of him. They also kept us informed every step of the way, providing timely updates on his condition. Beyond medical care, they also created a warm, welcoming environment. The facility was kept cleaned and well maintained, and they thoughtfully decorated the place for every holidays making it felt like home. In addition to medical services, they create a warm, welcoming environment. The facility is kept clean and well maintained, they are decorated for the holidays and with caring staff, it makes it feel like home. We truly appreciate everything the whole team has done for my father-in-law. Their dedication and kindness will always be remembered. Thank you!

Then they leave you soaking wet to get clothes. Imagine how cold that is. The last time: Grandma's condition got worse and was transferred here from the ER. She couldn't move, so they had to turn her every few hours. After a few days, they called to say "you gotta take her back to where she came from. she isn't like this the last time she was here and she is too much work. wherever she was before, take her back now." I said she had been home but now she needs professional help since she is still on IV and we don't know how to do that. Few days after that initial call, we got a call on a Sunday night and they said she stopped breathing. I said what? The lady on the phone said she stopped breathing and now we sent her to the ER. When I saw the ER doctor, he said "her condition wasn't that bad to a point that she would die. something happened at the nursing home". I was there when she woke up from the coma, and she was in such terror like she woke up from a terrible nightmare like the end of the world. I don't have to be there and I know exactly what happened.

There was a large parking lot, plenty of street parking, and parking across the street at the park. The building is very clean, quiet, cozy, has a warm ambiance. Marco gave me the tour. He is a wealth of information and very personable. Anything I asked him, he answered with confidence, and if he didn't know the answer, he did thorough research to find out and get the information to me in a timely manner. From what I've seen so far, it seems like the retirement communities in this general area are either on one end of the spectrum, targeting a lower-income population and providing less amenities, or on the other end, targeting very wealthy families who can afford to pay 10K+/month for luxury and hotel style care and amenities. This community seems to be the only one in the middle, with very competitive rates, but a nicer, cleaner, calmer building than the others with similar rates. Also, their pricing is all-inclusive, not a la carte like many of the other places I've toured, so that's a huge perk for my aunt. Overall, I got a very nice impression of this place. Marco is always available to answer my followup questions, and I think my aunt would be very comfortable here.

The food and facility is dressed up real nice for the picture but the actual look of the place and taste of the food is a bait and switch. This is not a safe place to bring your loved one's. Santa Anita is hurting for residents so they bring homeless drug addicts who are mentally unstable from off the street which leads to fights in the dining hall and tv rooms. I've witnessed people urinating and have seen a feces trail running down the hallways. I stopped eating in the dining room because the caregivers didn't change the resident's dirty diaper. There are residents and staff yelling up and down the hallways at 6am. If you suffer from kidney disease and are on dialysis this place does not provide a renal diet. They do not have a dietician or any kind of wellness director. I had met a few residents and staff who eventually became my family and it was hard to to leave them behind but if they saw how much happier i am in my new environment they would say i made the right decision to get out of Santa Anita Assisted Living. After three years I finally moved on to a facility which is run 90% better.
