Decided to try this place out for lunch. Never been but love the idea of creating my own personal pizza. Walked in and was immediately greeted by staff even while they were helping others (this is always a plus in my books). While I waited I had time to review the menu. Lots of crust options, including gluten-free and cauliflower. I went with the traditional italian but next time I may venture out. All the toppings looked fresh and there was a pretty good variety. The pricing is fair and based on toppings (1, 5, or no limit). The person who helped me was super nice and answered all my questions about toppings with a smile and never made me feel rushed. Pizza was ready in about 7 minutes which I thought was great considering I went during lunch rush. My pizza was delicious and the perfect sized. I also did a half salad (ate it before I could take a pic lol) but it was so good. Next time I am in the area for work, I definitely plan to stop by here for a bite! read more

They are super safe!! Look at how they have the ingredients & staff sectioned off. They placed a large clear curtain between the customers and the food and stuff. This is very smart and safe. They are currently giving you a to go cup and some napkins . You can get as many as you like however they will hand them to you at the front counter. For a soda refill, you'd have to ask for a new cup to prevent cross contamination. So smart! I also enjoy the thin crust pizza, and I create my own. Don't skip the magic dust! It's a mixture of Parmesan cheese and spices, which gives the pizza a good flavor. I felt safe, the tables were sectioned off and they were constantly disinfecting. You can always do to go also! I do not even know how to start this review. Well, I will start this is my first time to this location, but second time to a pie five. I waited in line for a few minutes as it was dinner time. The service was great and welcoming to start. The ladies that made my pizza and salad were so friendly and asked me several times if everything was to my satisfaction. When my pizza was finished in the oven the lady, who I later found out was a manager, just disappeared. She didn't say anything to me or her coworkers--she literally disappeared and did not return. Because of that the dude at the register was left to do like three jobs and the line got totally backed up. Left with my pizza, which was the Athenian that had chicken, mixed veggies, and mozarella cheese. Had a bite of it in the car and the crust was super dry, stiff, and tasted like cardboard. So, I decided to return the restaurant and exchange my pizza. I told this to one of the staff and she hesitantly said that she would have to get the manager. So, I was negatively confronted by the same manager that disappeared and was told that their pizza dough and toppings are fresh and that they would only make this exchange one time. I told her that I was not questioning the freshness, but definitely the quality of the dough. As I placed my new order the manager spoke negatively about another customer in front of me. A customer ahead of me complained about the lettuce not being fresh and wanting new lettuce in her salad. Manager stated that "she did not care that she was going to complain, our stuff is fresh, so I do not see why she was complaining about it." I just shook my head at her attitude and behavior and left--this is how a manager acts in front of customers?!? Wow! This is my last time at Pie Five. Pie five has been on my radar for a bit and I finally made it in today. I ordered and paid online and just had to pop in to pick it up. It was hot and read for me when I got there and the young man I encountered was friendly. I was pleased with my pickup. But in the end, it all comes down to the pie. It was hot and fresh, and the toppings seemed to be of good quality. My problem, is the crust. It was under done and bland. There was no texture to it, the color was very light. It wasn't doughy, but could not be described as anything close to a crispy crust. The bottom just sagged under the weight of a few toppings. Really, what makes a superior pizza is the crust! I have looked at pictures of their food, and the pizzas all look golden, and mine just...wasn't. I think the concept is great, the price point is awesome, and maybe with another minute or so, the crust would be more than just calories holding up cheese. I will give them another try. My pizza is affordable and perfect every time. So you choose your crust (they have 4 made from scratch options + gluten free), choose your sauce, choose your cheeses (vegan option too), choose your meats, choose your veggies, and finally choose your "finishings." YUM. So many options. So, I go GF crust, spicy Sriracha marinara, mozzarella AND shredded parmesan, pepperoni, mushrooms, kalamata olives, jalapenos, minced garlic... and THEN I finish it with fresh basil, basil pesto drizzle, and red pepper flakes. I miss my old Pie Five that used to be in north Arlington, I still wonder why it closed. Oh well, I sometimes have to do work stuff close to this location and I'll drop in to grab a pizza every now and then. Always tempted by some of the new specialty pizzas they come up with, but always go with a build your own. Have always liked the pizza here, but now that they have a pan style crust ($1 extra but well worth it) it's gotten even better. Tried this location because I received a coupon for a BOGO pizza. I have been to one Pie Five before and I couldn't really remember if I liked it or not. So I ordered one of the menus pizzas for the hubby (BBQ CHICKEN) and I did a CYO pizza (I had the spicy marinara sauce, cheese, peppers, onions, spinach, pepperoni). Both pizza were on thin crust and they were REALLY good! The pizza prep person did forget my pepperoni which I didn't realize until I got home (totally my own fault). They employees were all pretty nice and helpful. The only potential con I could see would be that when this place it crowded you can not go here if you are in a rush. I have to give them a star for their efforts to stop the spread of germs by having plastic barriers covering the food prep area where customers used to be able to stand, watch, and lean over the glass. Thank you for that. The food on the other hand has gone terribly downhill since I first had Pie Five a few years ago. ***On Mondays the pies are $5+! I've been to pie 5 a handful of times, my review is based on all of them combined. This place is basically a Subway for pizza, they do offer pies that are already set up and you can order them but I think the fun is in creating your own pie. You can anything from spinach, a variety of different cheeses, to veggies and meat. I like a lot of veggies on my pie and I often share mine with my son, he's an olive lover so I ask to have double the size on both black and green olives. The taste is good, I like the cheese sprinkler at the end, it's just a powdered cheese mix with some herbs but it's nice. . Tips- some employees give a normal amount of cheese and ingredients, some put very little of each on. You can just tell them more cheese, or whatever you would like more of. One time in particular a lady left most of the pie with zero cheese, o had to ask her 4 more times for more cheese until the pie had most of the says covered. I know sone people wouldn't say anything and just be disappointed and not cone back but your able to tell them what you want so if the employee is being weird and giving you something you don't want just ask so you can enjoy your pizza. read more

Mmm pie five! I had been to other locations by myself and got a general understanding of how they do things. This was the first time I had been able to take the family so they could try it out. Staff was nice & helped explain, even gave a side of pineapple for my @ the time 9 month old son to have! There were some friendly customers so my son ended up getting his flirt on with some ladies wanting to snuggle a baby. The price was pretty good & everyone got what they wanted which I'm sure would have cost more for 3 pizzas for delivery from other places. They do have some combo deals like pizza & salad, pizza & bread, pizza & dessert, if a personal pizza with unlimited toppings isn't enough. I had been to this location (and a few others) before a few times in the past, but it's been about a year since my last visit to any of them. I was surprised that they totally revamped their menu: They used to have combo meals (not just for kids) that allowed you to pick a main dish, bread sticks, and a drink, or some other combination with a dessert. These combos are no longer available, but the kid combo still is available. That said, they still have great prices that haven't gone up much (if at all). They have also completely changed their "Favorites" menu, and now have several spicy options: my boyfriend got the "Mike's Sticky Fingers" pizza, and he absolutely loved it! He debated on that one, "Ghost Phobia" (it has ghost peppers in the marinade for the "inferno sauce"), and the "Korean Dictator" (Korean BBQ and Gochujang sauce blend). I personally did a "Build-Your-Own" pizza, and got what I normally order: bacon, ham and sausage with extra mozzarella on top. They also added some new crust options, including Parmesan Crusted Stuffed Crust. IT WAS DELICIOUS. They used a garlicky sauce on the crust and it was amazing. You could look at Pie Five as the spiritual successor to Pizza Inn. It's a Rave brands concept, so the same parent organization as Pizza Inn, which is no coincidence. It's higher quality than a Pizza Inn buffet by many measures, but simultaneously more spendy. While Pizza Inns still exist, their isn't exactly a profusion of them in the wild. The concept is very easy to understand, it's a flat rate pizza. You pay a given rate based on the size, and you can get unlimited toppings, within reason of course. Sbarro has a similar concept dubbed Cucinova, which is superior, however they only exist in Ohio and Illinois currently. There are a couple of crust options, several sauce choices, and a plethora of toppings. I've always found their topping drawers to look fresh and properly maintained. They now offer calzones, which are somewhat analogous to a hot pocket, but still relatively flavorous. Service has always been allowable, and I have no complaints there. The rewards program is opulent, and if you come here often it's a must. If you do want a blast from the past, order a thin crust pepperoni and cheese with Tuscan sauce, it's a great surrogate for a real late 90's Pizza Inn pepperoni pizza. Ordering online is undemanding, but I would recommend ordering a pizza in real time, as you can see every step of the process, and make sure the customization goes as planned. Pie Five isn't grass fed, wild caught, pasture raised, organic, or locally sourced, but it is fairly priced and sufficiently ambrosial. read more

Serve your own drinks. This is a brand new location, so they're still getting some kinks worked out, I'm sure. They have several people working here, yet none of them seemed to be busing the tables - so that was disappointing. We were pretty limited on where to sit and it was fairly crowded. The people we dealt with in the serving line were friendly though and were patient with my kids when they wanted to order their own stuff without my help. Ha! All four of us liked our pizza. The prices were fair - about $7 per person plus drinks. I liked that they serve a gluten-free pizza crust and it's only 220 calories. Aside from the cheese, that's not too horrible when you load it up with fresh veggies. I got the gluten free crust and the "farmers market" pizza.. subbed the peppers for garlic. Its Pizza with a Subway kind of twist. You order your customer order pizza by selecting everything from the dough to the final toppings. You enter the line and start by pivking your size and dough preference. As you move along the counter you choose your type of pizza sauce, meats, vegetables and cheeses. Along with the pizza creation you can select a variety of salads to complete your order. I selected a very thin pizza with a light sauce, sun dried tomatoes, after spinach, chicken and white cheese. The pizza was very good and allowed each person to create a pizza masterpiece to the persons liking. Having children can often be challenging when ordering pizza that has items that everyone will eat. My two areas where the restaurant needs to focus on area's of growth would be the wait time in line, keeping the tables bused and kept clean. The last area is with parking. Not all of the stores in the strip mall have yet to open up for business. It is already difficult to find a parking space when it's busy. I am hoping that the management of the strip mall will find a solution to this problem quickly. read more

We really like this as a family, since we can build our own pizzas. On this particular visit, I took my daughter and her friend. We each got an individual pizza. Staff is very nice, although there were some hiccups with other people's orders. I like the High Five on thin crust, which is a 5 meat pizza. I added tomatoes and garlic. Daughter got her usual alfredo and cheese, while her friend got alfredo, pepperoni and olive. We all enjoyed it. We had to ask for parmesan cheese, as the shaker needed refilling. This happened on the most recent prior visit too. If you haven't been, as others have said, it is like a Subway or Chipotle, in that you can build your own, or pick a set up, or do a bit of both. Friends have told me that the GF crust is quite good, but have not had it myself. I usually only eat half of the 11" pizza, especially if I get a salad, and they have to go boxes available.
