Let me first start off by saying im not from this area. Most of the pizza in this area (with good ratings), are the overly oily barely any cheese, cardboard crust style pizza and i cant stand it. But i understand, certain places have their preferred style, so to each their own. This pizza on the other hand has a thicker crust thats a bit more soft. And they do not skimp on cheese. I love a good cheesy pizza. If youre a cheese addict like i am, youll enjoy this. I will however say, their pizza sauce has no flavor. Topings are pretty good. I wouldnt suggest dining in. I ordered food from Pie Guys on Frost Rd Waterbury, CT. I did not receive my food, however I was charged. I called to speak with someone in regards to returning my money. I was told that the manager is not going to be there until Monday to call back (today is Wednesday). Of course, I felt like I should not have to wait until Monday, so I asked him to call his Manager. He decided to hang up on me. I called back and the guy on the phone stated his Manager hung up on me. The same manager that was not available until Monday. I went down there asking for my money back and he refused to refund me. His exact words was that he does not believe that I paid for the pizza. I took a chance and boy, did it pay off! First, the best prices of Any Italian within 50 miles. More importantly, phenomenal food. I've worked in restaurants all my life. I'm from NY so I know good Italian. I had a 12 inch cheese pie, with tomatoes & mushrooms. I requested light cheese, heavy sauce, a light bake & soft crust because of teeth issues. Perfect. Look at the picture. Flavors were fresh and better than any of the 10 restaurants in my area (Wallingford). I also got a spaghetti with marinara dinner. The sauce was full of tomato chunks, the way we did it in NYC. You need whole cooked tomatoes basically smashed to make this sauce. You can't get away with just crushed from a can plus purée & paste. All the local places do that. Sweet & just about perfect. The pasta wasn't over cooked which is another thing everyone does. Big portion plus garlic bread and side salad. If I could give them negative stars I would. I placed an order last Tuesday night (11/17/20) through the Slice app. It was close to their closing time so by the time I received my order, the actual restaurant stopped answering the phone. I ordered a medium pizza with onions, bacon, mushrooms, and green peppers along with five wings with blue cheese dressing. The total for my order came to about $33 total with the $5.00 delivery fee and $3.00 fee from Slice added. What I received was a PLAIN medium cheese pizza, 5 wings with ranch dressing. I called the next day (Wednesday) to let them know my order was incorrect and ask what steps could be taken to make it right. I was told to contact Slice because what I received (the plain pizza, 5 wings with ranch) is what Slice sent them. Fine. So I contacted Slice the same day (Wednesday), they told me that unfortunately, they couldn't do anything because the establishment (Pie Guys) received the funds and therefore had to issue the refund and/or correct my order. All slice could do is offer me a promo code - not helpful. So I called Pie Guys back and told them what Slice said, after several minutes of them telling me they couldn't help me (they never called me any names but they did CONSTANTLY speak over me while I was talking), I was told to call back the next day (Thursday) to speak to a manager. Fine. I called Thursday, no manager until Monday and was told again to contact Slice because Pie Guys was unable to either refund my money OR give me the correct order. They told me that they would call the manager, and IF the manager picked up when they called, they would call back...of course, they didn't call back...and while they were telling me what they couldn't do, they continually talked over me. They even admitted that they knew me because I order there all the time - I guess they don't care about their customers only money. I did not call Friday. I worked Monday and did not call. I called today (11/24/20) and was told the manager authorized a free small cheese pizza and that I could call back next Monday when the manager is there if I want to speak to someone. Basically, I will not get my order corrected, I will not get a refund. I think I was pretty patient throughout this entire process. I contacted Slice, explained my situation to Slice, then relayed Slices message to Pie Guys, I never yelled, there was no name-calling, none of that. I understand that the person answering the phone was only a worker and can't help/do anything without the manager's approval. They had the order number to show the manager (it would show the incorrect order and what was paid). Oh - I forgot to add that I guess they were fed up with a customer trying to rectify a mistake on their part because they hung up on me today, then didn't answer when I called back. They must have had their customer service training from the school of 2020 where there are zero f***s given. I paid about $33. I received a plain medium cheese pizza ($11.49) and 5 wings (6.49) - total about $26 with the $8.00 in fees included. I ordered a medium pizza with bacon, onion, green peppers, and mushrooms ($18.49) and the 5 wings ($6.49) total about $33 with fees included. On the most BASIC level, the manager should be able to see that what was paid DID NOT match the amount that should have been paid based upon the items ordered on the receipt. After 8 days, it boils down to - I am out of my hard-earned money - during COVID. This establishment DOES NOT care about any customer, whether they be new customers, returning customers, referred customers - it doesn't matter. If they have an issue with the Slice app, take it up with that company. Don't take it out on the customers who ordered through the app and maybe stop using the app until the issues are resolved. There have been so many eating establishments in town that have closed due to COVID, this place might become part of that list if they don't rethink the way they treat customers. I WOULD NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. Eat/order from somewhere else where they at least care about the customers they serve. read more

I had this pizza from a party i attended. I decided to order it for my family and used their online site. I ordered their #15: Party Pizza (40 pieces) with a 2 Ltr soda for $19.99 . I paid with my debit card and they called me an hour later to pick it up. I arrived and was given an extra large pie. When I explained to the guy that it was not what I ordered, he insisted and showed me the online order receipt printed out. I showed him the order as it is shown online that I paid for via my phone, and he said he couldnt take the pizza back as it was already made and could only give me an additional small pie to make up for the error. THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Placed order for a Hamburger, waffle fries & Wings around 7:30 pm on a Friday night using the Beyond Menu app. The order arrived in a timely fashion but - there was cheese on the burger. I didn't find the employees there when I went to be rude or unprofessional but they also didn't go out of their way to extend a super friendly greeting or anything like that. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER FROM BOTH THE PHONE STAFF AND THE DELIVERY GUY!!!! This place should actually get negative stars. First when they answer the phone, all the guy says is "Hello!". Rudely, like shes bothering him. Doesn't give the name of the place, doesn't ask if he can help her, just silence. So we're waiting, and waiting. 45 minutes comes and goes and turns into an hour. She calls back and the guy is "He's on the way" CLICK. Just hangs up again. Finally an hour and half after she placed the order the car pulls up on the street in front of the house, and the delivery guy calls her. "Is this the right house? You gotta come out to the car and get the stuff" We were pretty upset at this point so we tell him no, pull in and DELIVER it to us. He starts swearing at her over the phone, telling her never to call and order from Pie Guys again and then hangs up and stays parked out in the street. So I go stand out in the driveway with my arms folded until he pulls in, and then he's just sitting in the driveway. So I just keep standing there. Finally he gets out of the car and walks up giving me attitude cause I made him get out of his car. "This place is too far. We don't deliver here." I tell him yes you have, several times. "No we don't deliver this far and you shouldn't order from us again. It's too far." I asked him if there was any discount on the order because he was 45 minutes later than we were told. She calls up to complain about the whole experience and all the phone guys says is well, he shouldn't have sworn at you. That's it. He should have fired the driver when he got back. As for the actual food, after all this time it was only lukewarm. It's hard to mess up the mac and cheese bites, they're just frozen and reheated but I will say this. They weren't hot and fresh, and for the price paid they should have been better quality than I could have bought in a box at the frozen section of the supermarket. And the eggplant and cheese grinder you ask? Soggy mushy gray eggplant stuffed into a small grinder. You can tell it was grayish, cause there was almost no sauce or cheese on it that I could see. Again it wasn't hot and fresh anymore, and of course there was no added garlic (they don't do that). It had almost no flavor in the bite I tried, and they don't bread the eggplant when they cook it. Blah. In closing, if you want to be treated like dirt, then this is a good place to order food.
