Having this new spot pop up on my Yelp feed was a very pleasant surprise-- Fells Point has tons of food options and it seems that a lot of those are pizza joints. That does not mean though that they're all worthy of your business. Pie in the Sky, however, is. Step inside the bold red exterior and you're instantly greeted by edgy, modern decor very representative of the outside. You've got marble-slated tabletops and counters and clean lines all around. Seating is more than plenty in the long, narrow dining area. You walk up to the counter, place your order, and take a number to your table. The owner, Murat, is extremely polite and a genuine pleasure to talk to. He will go out of his way to ensure you get what you want. His credit card machine wasn't working on the Friday afternoon that I went in-- naturally, I offered him cash. However, I sat and observed his interactions with every other customer who came in. He told them all to place an order and just pay him back later-- absolutely no worries. This kind of attitude, trust, and charm is what makes Baltimore 'Charm City' and I'm glad Murat embraces it. Moving on to the food, you've got everything you'd expect from a pizza joint like this. Gourmet pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, breads, and the like are plentiful. I had the lunch special-- for $7 you can pick any sandwich, receive a side of potatoes, and get a soda fountain drink. This is a fantastic deal and one that you'll be hard-pressed to find this cheap in Baltimore. ---- I Liked: Chicken Sandwich - The initial bite is chock-full of doughy heaven. The bread is baked in house and it really shows-- the crust is perfectly crisp without being tough to chew and the bread is light and airy. The sandwich had flavorful red peppers, tomato sauce, and marinated chicken. Every ingredient tasted fresh and was bursting with flavor. My one criticism would be that the chicken pieces are lined up on the edges of the sandwich-- this makes for great presentation but ultimately it also means that the middle of the sandwich is void of any chicken. Not a big deal, but worth noting. (You do not receive a breast or large piece of chicken, instead you get chunks of chicken, which is just fine). 5/5 Potatoes - The potato-wedge fries are delicious. They're crisp on the outside and soft on the inside; they don't feel too heavy from all the oil either. A generous slathering of garlic paste is evident and adds a ton of flavor-- though there may have been just a touch bit too much garlic. 4/5 I Disliked: Nothing so far! ---- Insider Tips: * Check out the lunch specials * Chew gum after having the fries-- the garlic taste will never leave * Customize your pizza if you don't want too many toppings and save money vs the $11 gourmet pizzas. Pie In The Sky is a welcome addition to the Fells Point neighborhood and I wholly recommend it to anyone looking to try something new. A sandwich, potato wedges and a soda for 7 bucks? That sounds like a pie in the sky type of idea. Well - at Pie in the Sky on Broadway, it's a reality. It was mandatory I started this post with a Pie in the Sky pun, right? Oh.. it wasn't... okay... This is a really nice place - lots of white marble, good lighting, spaceous and clean. They did take over the Mare Nostre spot, so that's what you'd expect. However, Pie in the Sky is you pizza/sandwich place, but with gourmet options but hold the pretension. The muffaletta was great - very strong on the olives, which I love, and some fresh greens to boot. The bread was chewy, but not too tough. Really a great sandwich. The potato wedges were pretty good - you don't get a ton, but enough for lunch, considering the muffaletta was large. They are lightly seasoned, heavily salted and fried till they are on the brown side (some would say burned, others would say perfect). All in all, a great lunch, friendly staff - and under ten bucks! One mark against them: The takeout is in Styrofoam. There are plenty of recycled/recylable options out there. Make the special 7.50... but this would be a great upgrade. read more

This place is the real deal. I happened upon it and arrived without any expectations. Best food move I've made in Baltimore (and this is a town chock FULL of delicious food). The bread, oh my god, the bread, which is made on site. I chose a grilled cheese sandwich and asked if they would put eggplant on it, and the owner was wonderful about accommodating me. I love a grilled cheese on a rainy day, but this one may have ruined all others. How can I go back to ordinary grilled cheese sandwiches after this experience? I wish I didn't live so far away. Pretty sure I would be their number one customer. If Pie In the Sky can do this with a grilled cheese, I have a feeling that I seriously missed out by not ordering something more interesting. As a side note, the decor is attractive - lots of great art, clean lines, and tons of light from the big front windows. Totally recommended. read more

Been here twice and both times it's been empty. Recently at lunch I was meet w a tall, skinny dark-haired guy full of attitude behind the register, friendly to a young woman waiting beside the counter but DEFINITELY NOT ME. I'd only been here twice before (and my dining partner had never been) and still wasn't certain how the ordering process goes and he was not helpful. That said, our portobello pizza and the Fell's Point pizza were delicious! The interior was tidy enough. We live in the area and have tried most of the food places around us- this got to be one of the freshest/tastiest pizzas we've tried. . and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like pizza. We tried their steak pizza and it was really tasty, the flavors well balanced (not overly salty like most pizza places), there were plenty of toppings and the sprinkle of sesame seeds gave it a nice pop. I like that the peppers were crunchy and not overcooked and soggy. I am planning to get their spinach artichoke & pizza next time (which should be soon). I also like that they have put up artworks/photos by local artists, which is great. Overall, quite impressed by their sincerity and their love for good food. I have been having their royale - (chocolate genoise cake, hazelnut feuilletine, and chocolate mousse) back to back for the last 4 days hahah It's like a guilty pleasure for me. Pizza wasn't bad, but being from the jersey/ New York area makes me pretty particular about how my pizza is and this was a thicker crust than I prefer. I don't know why they insist on sending us soggy half cooked pizzas the past two times but it's really annoying to have to cook the pizza again once it arrives. We were in Baltimore on Vacation with our four kids. After a long day of touring around and after we had parked our car in a pay garage; it was 8:30 at night and we had four hungry teens.....We ordered through Door Dash. It took 45 min for delivery. Door Dash forgot half our order. Ugh:( EDIT....it was the restaurant that got the order wrong .. but the awesome thing is that the manager totally owned up and profusely apologized) We called Pie in the Sky and they were FANTASTIC!! They retook our order and took awesome care of us. Their manager must have traveled with kids before. He personally delivered our order and apologized for the mistake. Wow, customer service at it's best. Having worked in the hospitality business, I really appreciated his sincere effort. First class all the way. I had the spinach salad which was really good and the Portobello Bruschetta .. excellent. We also had pizza and Calzone...oh and bread sticks. My fiancé and I were very excited to try this new pizza place. Caveat - it was close to when the restaurant was closing so that could've accounted for our lackluster experience. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and garlic herb wings. The delivery was on time and we really appreciated that the delivery driver didn't loudly bang on the door as it was a bit late and on a weekday night. The sauce was pretty tasty, but the cheese came off in sheets...sort of like you take a bite and then the cheese comes off (but not in a stringy, hot, melty way) and all you're left with is crust covered with sauce....like concession stand pizza that's cold. That was disappointing. The wings were the worst part of the experience by far. They tasted old and were tough. They smelled a bit off too, almost fishy? The sauce was alright, but it was really hard to get beyond the stale taste and texture of the wings. Plus we asked for ranch dressing and got bleu cheese which is a huge bummer when you don't care for bleu cheese. If it weren't for the wings, I would probably give Pie In The Sky a solid three stars. Despite not being overly impressed with this first experience, I think we'll give it another shot, just to see if this was just an off moment for a new restaurant. read more

The food was okay. We ordered a 10in Fells Pie, a side of meatballs, garlic bread, and tiramisu through Grubhub. Crust is fluffy and bready but the center of the pie was wet and soggy. Their meatballs were pretty good. The tiramisu needed more espresso but was nice. The garlic bread...isn't garlic bread. It's a thin pizza dough with garlic butter and cheese. This is my new favorite pizza spot in Fells! One I love the crust and the pizza sauce. They don't skimp on the cheese or the toppings and the pesto sauce is amazing. I went here with my friends late night and were so happy to find that they also had a full bar. As we waited for our pizza we were highly entertained by their awesome bar tender Raul. There are several things listed as vegan on the website menu. I don't know if whoever cooked tonight didn't know it was written and labeled as vegan, or if they just decided to make it however they want, but the spinach and artichoke pizza that got delivered to me was made with mozzarella, despite saying made with vegan cheese on the menu. I didn't think I would have to be cautious about ordering something vegan from a place that they themselves says is vegan. Why have it on the menu at all. Waste of money, waste of time read more

Stopped in late on a Thursday night and there was a group of people who were SO ROWDY you could barely hear yourself talking and they were there the whole time we waited on our food. We got it to go because we couldn't stand being there. I wish the staff would've gotten them to quiet down or leave because it was unbearable. Outside of that, they have vegan options and are open pretty late so it is super convenient. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars because I specifically said to my date, "I don't want a plain cheese pizza," but that's what our mediterranean pizza tasted like: the veggies were a nice nutritional supplement, but they were cut way too big and didn't bring anything to the flavor table. We could've saved money and went for a plain old cheese pizza. Nevertheless, I appreciate that I even have the option to get a plain vegan cheese pizza here. Vegan cheese tends to throw first timers off, but it tasted fine, albeit different, to my date.
