They charged us $3.5 for gluten free pasta and added cut up fettuccine to the dish.. is that the idea?

Modern spacious dining with comfortable seating. Patio dining is available. Bar with a large beer and wine list. Good service. A different spin on some of the pizzas. I ordered a sausage pizza. In my brain thinking classic sausage pizza. I'm a simple person; I eat simple pizzas, (think Pizza Hut sausage pizza). No, I didn't read the menu. When the pizza arrived, I immediately thought we were mistakenly served someone else's order. What threw me off was the big table spoon sized petal shaped disks of onion. (looked like thin slices of potatoes). The sausage was hardly noticeable. The sausage that was on the pie, was a few thin slices of Italian link sausage and a few sprinkles of the meat. The center of the crust was very thin, ringed with a thick puffy crust. (Check the Pictures) It won't convert me from my favorite the classic version, but it was good. What made it even better was the dipping sauces for that outer ring of thick chewy, crispy crust. Three tasty versions were brought to the table. I think this is their gimmick, thick chewy crust and dipping sauces. My wife and daughter had the margherita pizza. Simple, much like the classic version, served on a similar crust to what I described. Dipping sauces and the thick ring of outer crust for the win. The restaurant's pizza didn't win me over on this first sampling. It's worthy of another try. read more

Came back and got to try a couple new things, the outlaw cocktail was delicious, not overly spicy and just enough kick. I think it's my new favorite! The simple salad was delicious to start off with, the small portion was still enough to share with my husband. We shared a pizza and ordered a side of wings. I went with a friend to Pie Tap for lunch. I already have a favorite (2 actually) pizza place so I'd never felt the need to add another to the list. The problem with this philosophy is that you can unintentionally miss a true gem. That is exactly the situation with Pie Tap. Wow! I love their sourdough crust. The result of the 4-day sourdough starter is a crisp yet very chewy crust. Nice, but not overpowering flavor. They do have lunch specials, which I appreciated. It allowed me to do the half pie / half salad. I did veggie pizza (basil pesto, spinach, oregano roasted tomato, broccolini, goat cheese, lemon zest) and the workshop salad (creminelli salami, provolone, red onion, roasted pepper, bacon, olive, tomatoes, pepperoncini, balsamic vinaigrette). Both were excellent! Bottom line is this: Would I go back and take my husband who is deeply committed to his favorites and deal with the grumbling that would ensue on the way there? Yes. I went to Pie tap yesterday and got the pepperoni pizza and chicken parm sandwich. The pizza was solid as the cheese and sauce selection was really good. I also enjoyed the crispiness of the pizza but was not a fan of the sourdough bread. It ruined the crust of the pizza and honestly hurt the overall flavor of the pizza with its odd flavor. The chicken parm sandwich was exceptional from the bread to the chicken. The sauce and prosciutto also went excellently along with the the overall sandwich. Comes with choice of ceasar or garden salad. I chose the ceasar and I was not impressed with the dressing. It had a funky taste...can't describe it. Hubs got the garden salad and he loved the Italian dressing. The pizza is good, ordered the Salami. It has pepperoni, bacon, salami and sausage. It has a great flavored crust that has a good chew. Wow where do I even begin? Came into this restaurant having never heard of it before, as a third wheel so I was expecting the experience to be a little meh, but boy was I wrong. The food kept me so distracted I didn't even care. The margherita pizza was absolutely delicious, one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The pizzas are not very filling, but the flavor makes up for it. Could've had at least 5 of the pizzas myself, if not for the price since the whole menu is on the pricier side, but that's expected of place that makes pizza like pie tap does. And the garlic knots, where do I even begin with those? Hot and crispy on the outside, soft with the perfect texture on the inside, along side a provolone Asiago whip, which was very light and fluffy, and I absolutely loved because the flavor wasn't overpowering at all, but rather very light and almost unnoticeable besides adding a small flavor detail that makes all the difference, and doesn't take away the attention from the garlic knots. Forgot to take a picture of them because it was so good. The margherita pizza was so good we ordered another. Environment was very cool, with the lighting on the darker side with an over head lamp, creating a feeling of isolation from the other tables so that it's just you and your friends eating together. And to top everything off, the service was amazing! Our server was very nice. We noticed that our garlic knots were taking a while to come out, so we asked her about it and she went and checked for us, and soon enough, they came. She said to let us know if we wanted anything more, and of course, we had to order another margherita pizza. This was my first time trying Pie Tap, and I would return! The interior was clean, the restroom was clean, and our waiter was very friendly. Onto the food: - Garlic Knots: These are good. The bread is a perfect, fluffy texture, and I enjoyed tearing each piece off to dip and eat. If you're looking for a bold garlic flavor, you won't find it here, but I think the dough quality is A+. - Caesar Salad: A pretty standard Caesar salad. Solid and tasty. - Mushroom Pizza: The dish I ordered. The pizza has a pleasant savory flavor, and the egg on top adds to it (despite how messy it is). My only real complaint would be that the pizza was absolutely charred on some parts, especially the crust. I like my dough a bit toasted, but some bites were straight-up charcoal. - Sausage Pizza: I didn't try this, but my friend said she liked it. It's been quite a while since I last came to Pie Tap, but I got to try a few pizzas and a board for an outdoor lunch gathering this past weekend. My fiancé and I both prefer white pizzas over marinara sauce, so we tried the mushroom egg pizza and the prosciutto pie -- both were delicious! The mushroom had delightfully runny eggs on top, which paired very well with the mushrooms and bacon. The star really was the prosciutto pie though -- in addition to the typical prosciutto + arugula + balsamic combo, there were also huge dollops of ricotta and the unsung hero of the show: pistachios! They lent an excellent saltiness and crunch to the experience. Would absolutely order that again every time! I'm usually not a crust lover, but I also really enjoyed Pie Tap's sourdough based crust. Perfect chew and flavor! The board was also great -- the fresh mozzarella and the pistachio goat cheese were my favorites there. Be aware that they don't have fresh pasta dishes available to order until dinner time! I am glad to know there's a place that does fresh pasta so close to home, though, and am excited to come back and try it again at some point. read more

Great spot in Addison! Traveled through lots of traffic to reach this spot to have dinner with a friend. We were looking for an outdoor patio and this was a good choice which was parent and kid friendly. Hummus was good (especially good bread) and the pizzas were delicious. I tried the prosciutto pizza and especially liked the amount of toppings to dough ratio. The piped cheese on top was lovely - really flavorful and not overwhelming. A nice accompaniment to the salty prosciutto. Balsamic was a nice touch also. The rest of the meals also looked delicious. Good wine selection - not a ton of options but enough for everyone and at reasonable prices. Quick and efficient service - but they didn't rush us. Great Pizza's with a crust so good I will eat it when I rarely ever eat a bite of crust. Their goat cheese fondue to dip the crust into is amazing. If you haven't tried them you should in the future. Came here for a valentines dinner and we really enjoyed our food. We got the fondue for appetizers that comes with goat cheese fondue, pepper jam and sea salt rosemary bread puff! My favorite Pizza in the area! The garlic knots are perfectly buttery in the web spread that goes with it compliments the garlic flavor perfectly. And the best part about this pizza is the crust, it almost has a sourdough taste to it. I stick with a classic and get the pepperoni, and everything taste fresh about this pizza from the pepperoni to the cheese too the sauce. But again the best thing about the pizza is definitely the crust they have a great lunch special for half a pizza and half a salad that is hard to beat. At lunchtime it is not usually hard to get a seat, but during the evenings and weekends a reservation may be needed. If you are looking for a solid pizza, this is the place to go. read more

This Pie Tap can be as yum as the other locations, if they can only remember the potential they have. Wow I can't believe I just sent food back to the kitchen. I've never been that kind of Yelper, I promise! I'm usually the passive one who leaves a bad review afterwards... but I'm working on not doing that anymore for one of my New Year's resolutions. I've consistently had a fantastic 5-star experience at the Pie Tap in the Design District, so I was excited to show my friend. We're COVID-conscious (or as much as you can be in Texas), so I double-checked on Google and Yelp and made a reservation for their outdoor seating. Unfortunately, it was still very closed off and not very outside... We went ahead anyway since we're all vaxxed, but now you know: "Outdoor seating" isn't always true. \\ appetizer \ garlic knots - at the Design District location, this was pipin' hot and fluffy, and the whipped butter in addition was just luxurious - here, it was cold and a little hard and the mouthfeel was unfortunately just like some day-old bread--as a girl from the land of carbs, this was a big deal - the whipped butter was still good, and we decided to give Pie Tap a second chance with the main \\ pizza \ prosciutto - again, unfortunately cold, and the crust was stiff as a cracker - I had told my friend so many great things about Pie Tap that this pie just made me feel embarrassed because I'm supposed to be one of those foodie friends - it was hard to talk/listen to her while I was sawing away at my pizza slice... and gnawing at it - so naturally when the kind waiter came by to ask how it was, I couldn't just smile and say that it was fine like usual so I could be left alone to eat in peace--especially not after those dry knots and now these cold crackers... And now, I have to deviate from my usual format: Service never factors into how I rate places--food takes center stage for me. I could be perfectly happy eating scrumptious food in a pit, but I would feel scammed if the food was mediocre, even if I were fed bite by bite from fine china in a palace. I start with 3 stars if the food meets expectations. I up it to 4 stars if the food surpassed expectations, and I award it 5 stars if I could see myself becoming a regular. This was the first exception I could remember. The team's generous response and service revived a star for what would have been a 2-star rating. The waitress immediately offered to send it to be remade. I was flustered--what about this pie? The prosciutto and arugula on it were still good and would be tragic victims. My parents survived the Cultural Revolution on rations, and they taught me to grieve over every piece of wasted food since I was born. (Really, there's some poem about how each grain of rice represents a drop of sweat from a farmer.) But I didn't have the strength in my jaw to keep tackling this one... and I knew they could do better. They served up a new pie after a while, and this one was so much softer--it was the thin crust I remembered that felt precariously saggy under the wealth of toppings. The edges had a much bouncier chew to them, enough to please this girl with roots in Northeast China. The toppings still felt a little dry, but there was already improvement and I wanted to spend time with my friend instead. I'm so glad it ended well, and I hope my feedback was helpful. We are new to the area and thought we'd go g For old faithful like chipotle. But no. Saw pie tap and google the menu. Just seeing the list of ingredients and specialty creations we were in. We were greeted, our little family of 3, right at the front door. They asked if we had done this before and we said no. We were offered hand sanitizer, a menu for the baby to play with and we weren't even sat down yet. The tables are clean and it has a rustic bar/ pizza joint vibe with great ambiance and the most stellar thing? The service. We were greeted within seconds of sitting down and our cups were filled, even though we had water on the table to fill ourselves. We never got the chance. Drinks ordered, after we drop in conversation we are here for my sons 13th birthday, no reaction. We order from the bar and my 13 year old orders a lemonade. We also order The Board and Wings. Lemonade: my son is 13, he asked do you have lemonade, at some point, you might want to mention it has a full large piece of Rosemary in it. Remember, we are newbs. Sent back and got a Rootbeer. The Board: good flavors, very small amount for the price. Very low food cost item and the price is $15+ and change. Add a little more to that slab of wood. Mushroom Pizza: great test, but because of the wet egg and extra thin crust, it's pretty flimsy when trying to eat like a normal pizza. For the amount of seats, you have two toilets? Two pots? The women's room is just for women. The men's room is for women and men? Explain that logic. Just make them both unisex. Loved the food. Ambience is great. Wide variety of food. Lemonade seemed to be freshly squeezed. My husband I had mushroom pizza (that had egg on it which I loved) and rotisserie chicken melt. This melt was the best I've had ever - sourdough was fresh baked with pesto mayo and juicy rotisserie chicken. Fresh fry was perfectly fried and seasoned. Ahhhh I wanna go back there again!!!!
