This was my first time here and I'm glad I tried it. It's a little quaint Italian place in what's supposed to be a really cool area but it never took off. The restaurant was nice, clean, and quiet. It wasn't that busy and that's unfortunate bc it's a really good place. The service was good, nothing extraordinary or stood out but they were good. We had a party of 9 and were celebrating many things. They were very accommodating and put us in the corner as I requested and we were able to enjoy a semi-private event. The food was very good. They had many authentic Italian choices and their cocktails were really good. I'll preface with this place being a bit more expensive than normal. I think my dish at $16 was the cheapest thing that wasn't an appetizer. A large amount of the menu ranged from $25-45 for an entree. Just something to keep in mind I guess, as this is a bit higher than our normal Italian date night locations. We got the garlic flatbread to share. Average, a bit too much rosemary but warm bread is always good. We think Pie Tap has a better version of this if you're ever interested. I got the basic marinara pasta with a beef meatball. I enjoyed this dish! Sauce was pretty good and meatball was lovely, but perhaps not worth the extra $4. Bf got a spicy penne dish and was not impressed for the price. He said it was watery tomato with some red pepper flavor. Not offensive, he said, but not worth what we paid. It should be noted also that the first time they brought our check it was for a different table, so if I hadn't been checking the price and contents we would've paid for the wrong food. Our appetizer also almost got given to a different table. Overall, we place this in the middle of our tierlist of Italian places around. I haven't eaten here in a while and am sad to say that my food wasn't as delicious as I remember previous dinners here. I had the Caesar salad (nothing special) and the Orecchiette with house made sausage (again nothing special). The pasta to sausage ratio was off and the sauce lacked depth. While this place is beautiful on the inside with a decent wine list, this is NOT a good place to go to if you are looking to enjoy food. Bad #1 - I got severe food poisoning after coming here which is wild considering how the taste here was mostly mediocre. Bad #2 - Hidden charges that you aren't told about. Their Tartufo pizza is subpar but I was blindsided by a $14 additional surcharge. I went with the "recommendations" and I wasn't even aware that that meant extra ingredients aka extra money. At least tell us that the recommendations are a la carte! I don't mind paying extra but that's so slimy to do that to a customer. If you still want to get a spot here, I recommend using an app to book a reservation. Service is only fast if you order everything at once sitting down. The calamari is good. read more

I went on a wed at lunchtime. I was surprised that a quick Lunch could feel so fancy! As I approached the door a man in a full suit opened the door and invited me in. Wonderful Sunday Lunch at Princi Italia! We stopped by Princi Italia in Plano, TX for a Sunday-after-church lunch, and it was absolutely perfect. And for anyone planning a visit, every other Sunday they offer a BOGO special, which is such a great deal! Our waitress, Melissa, was truly WONDERFUL. Warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable--she guided us through the menu so well that we ended up ordering everything she recommended, including dessert and even the coffee. We enjoyed the homemade lasagna and the Chicken Piccata with broccolini in the most delicious lemon-caper white wine sauce. Both dishes were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. For dessert, Melissa suggested the tiramisu, paired with a cup of rich Lavazza coffee. It was the perfect finishing touch--light, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Between the amazing food, Melissa's exceptional service, and the great Sunday specials they offer, Princi Italia has definitely become one of our favorite spots. Highly recommend! read more

The restaurant is conveniently located next to the movie theater. We went to see a family film and needed something quick and easy. We had a beautiful margarita pizza, while the kids enjoyed their own pizzas, which were actual pizzas and not pre-frozen ones. I was very impressed by that. I wish we hadn't been in such a rush, as it would make for a great date night in the future. Visited the Plano location over the weekend. Service by José and ambiance was great, but the food left a bit to be desired. Looks they had a decent wine collection. Did not have the Sangiovese that I had picked, but ended up with Jose recommended Montepulciano d'abruzzo, which was nice. We had a variety of dishes. Amongst the better ones were the Grilled salmon w/pea saffron risotto and my fav, Apple Crostata. The rest of the dishes lacked flavor. I was expecting the spicy Penne Arrabbiata to be very spicy, but it was quite bland. We also had the Fig and Gorgonzola Bruschetta which was decent with blue cheese sprinkled, but other than that the rest of the food seemed meh. We were told that the kitchen was backed up due to being short staffed, but honestly did not see any delays in the service. The manager checked up on us as well. We are from Chicago, recently purchased a second home here in Plano. We love Italian food and the ambience of this restaurant, but have been here twice now where the food was cold, specifically the lasagna. On the first visit, our server really tried to make things better, not so on the second visit. We tried the other location, it was better, but too far for us to go to on a regular basis. I won't say we would not try a third time, but will be looking for a better choice for Italian food. read more

Loved this place on Saturday night with my fiancee! They did everything to make our night so special; from the welcome from the GM - Jeff, to our incredible server - Danielle, and Ingrid who recognized us and came by to greet us. We felt like VIP's! Very poor service. We have crossed this one off the list. We made reservations on OpenTable and indicated that we were coming for a birthday. When we arrived they told us the table wasn't ready. We reminded the hostess that we are here for a birthday, please put a desert on the tab and have it delivered after dinner. So we go sit at the bar. Here we find one bartender working the entire restaurant. He never acknowledges us, never asks us if we would like anything to drink. 45 minutes later we get called for a table. They put us in the back corner of the restaurant with a lovely view of wine boxes and a ladder (see photo). We ask for another table, they said "no, this is your table". Then it took 30 min for the waiter to take the orders He never returns to refill waters and at the end of the meal failed to deliver the desert. So sad, we used to love this place. I would have to agree with Mary. Hidden charges . I recently hosted a special event here and set up a dinner for 21 people . The entire time the waitress was passive aggressive . When it was time to cut the cake the waitress asked " would you like me to take the cut to the back and cut it for you ?" I replied " it's okay i can do it " and she then said " are you sure ? " so I said " okay you can do it " come to find out they charged me $25 . Had I known about a $25 cake cutting fee I would have gladly cut the cake myself . Worst thing is the waitress literally cut this huge cake we had into 2 by 2 inch cake slices. We all chuckled when we saw how small the cake slices were . They charged me a fee for a large party booking and automatic gratuity which I do mind however I did not appreciate the extra charge without notification. Also the waitress tried to sale us on ice cream to pair with the cake . She presented it as if it was no charge and complimentary. I only knew about the charge because my husband asked . My other complaint . I ordered a margarita and had only drank half of it when i noticed my drink was missing . I asked the waitress if I could have my drink back and her reply was " sweetie i already dumped it down the sink ." she didn't even offer to replace it . Food quality : mediocre . Went with another couple for dinner last month. Two of us ordered martinis with blue cheese olives and Grey Goose vodka like we always do when we go out. It wasn't that wonderful and they charged us $25 each. The Caesar salad was 3 little romaine leaves with some parmesan sprinkled on top. Our main course was the Lemon Sole with a pistachio sauce and when it came 2 of us asked where the sauce was and were told it was under the fish. Well there wasn't much sauce and my fish looked like it had fallen off the plate and and they picked up the broken pieces to served it. The fish had no flavor and was over done. We ordered a bottle of wine and the server excused herself and placed the bottle on our table so she could open it. She continued to struggle so I ended up opening it for her. She was done with her shift so we closed out but she wasn't very progressional as she untucked her shirt while cleaning up her other tables. I've ordered takeout and dined in a few times, and after my last experience dining at the restaurant, I will not be back. One of the dishes I liked to order was the Romano crusted chicken (via takeout and dine in), but I've found that it's very inconsistent. The most recent times I've ordered it, it has not been crispy and that has been very disappointing because the first time I had it it was uber delicious. The mussels are good and the calamari is hit or miss; sometimes the breading sticks, sometimes it falls off. The last time I dined in was Mother's Day and maybe it was too busy for them to handle because the serving sizes were so small. I ordered a special Seabass and it was a 4" x 4" piece of fish with two broccolinis, the Romano chicken was served with a tiny fist size of pasta, not enough to eat with the chicken. The inside of the restaurant is semi fancy and it can accommodate groups. Bottom line: the food is inconsistent and I would not go on a holiday because your portions may be small. read more

We celebrated my friend's bday here last Saturday. The restaurant is such a cute place that I didn't know existed. I really like their bar setup. It is definitely a great place for date night. We grabbed a few drinks while waiting for our table. Our waitress was polite and friendly. The calamari was REALLY good. My boyfriend and I shared a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms on it. It was delicious. We had no leftovers to take home. We split a bottle of wine which was the most expensive part of our meal, but that was to be expected. The wife and I had a wonderful date night here out on the patio! We had the following items: Orecchiette (5/5 rating): housemade italian sausage, rapini, chili flakes, parm. Spaghetti Bolognese (5/5 rating): classic bolognese, reggiano parmigiano. Both pastas were al dente - tender and firm. The italian sausage in the Orecchiette was flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. The bolognese had plenty of meat and the sauce tasted freshly made. I ordered two whiskey-based cocktails, and I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of the cocktail menu, and I couldn't find it on their website either. But I rate the both of them as 4/5. I like a stiff drink and both had good flavor but tasted mild to me. The wife tried two of the red wines and she enjoyed both of them. If I could give 0 stars I would. Our family was excited to eat here since we had such a nice experience at a dallas location. My pasta came the first time as complete mush. I kindly asked if they could remake it al dente which was how It had been served at the other location. After my family finished their meals mine arrived. I soon noticed numerous tough bristle like fibers in it. My husband described them more like coarse dog hair and the waitress was unsure of what it was as she attempted to break it apart with her fingers. She apologized and took it away . I could see her talking to the manager in the distance who looked at it and carried it to the kitchen. Where I became disappointed was in her leadership. The manager went along with setting tables and filling water pitchers. She never once acknowledged us and didn't bother to even come to the table. The resolution? Taking the pasta I couldn't eat off the bill. It was presented to us like they did us a favor. I found that odd and was amazed by her lack of customer service . If this happens to you don't worry , there are plenty of other places within walking distance to grab a meal. That's what I ended up having to do after leaving hungry. read more
