EJF always says they contacted the vender but never say if they talked to them. They always say that vender will be there asap soon as possible. well is that in an hour? a day? A month? Never receive any further follow up from EJF. They state the vender hasn't responded. We'll get another vender who will respond! There is limited feedback if any from EJF. I sited a request in April 2026. Reminded them several times since then. All I want is some duplicate keys! it's now almost August 2026. I have no status update from Beth at EJF I'm pretty fed up with the lack of management, openness, follow through, degree of detail in all communication, and lack of proper closure.... as management company they should continuously advise as what is the present status and next steps might be and what next steps are recommended. I'm totally down on their ability to do the job and shine at it.

As a prospective renter, my experience was very poor. The man who showed me the apartment I was…read moreinterested in was very nice, but didn't know much about the property or me (he was waiting in a different unit than the one I wanted to see because he got mixed up). That would have been fine. But what really annoyed me was the application process. The management is not familiar with more modern ways to verify employment and income (such as third party service) and insisted on unredacted pay stubs - which is much less secure. The interaction as we went back and forth was rude and reminded me of scammers trying to get one to divulge information urgently (because so many people are interested in the apartment!) at the cost of better judgement. In trying to get more information from me they cited their "policies" but being unable to articulate why their policy insists on having the information I didn't want to share (like my pre-tax deductions) This conversation was not with some mid-level employee but what seemed to be the owner. I should hope he could articulate the reasoning behind his own policy! To me, this company clearly orients themselves to customer service of property owners, not renters. Which fair enough, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. To the reader/renter: Don't let these people bully you!

As soon as I planned to sell my investment property and was no longer a revenue source for them, the support and willingness to engage with me disappeared. This has created numerous headaches as I plan to sell my rental property. 1) The company accepted a tenant-cleaned property, but still told me they would be charging the tenant for a move-out cleaning. When the tenant complained about the withheld deposit - the company refuses to acknowledge that they told me *in writing* that the $690 cleaning would be charged to the deposit. Now I owe the tenant another $690. 2) The company mailed the keys and garage door openers to my realtor. The package is lost and was not insured by the company. Now they simply suggest filing a "missing package" request and are not willing to accept responsibility for replacing the items that I entrusted to them. 3) Besides from one phone call, all communication is over email, which is creating delays in resolving these issues, leading the former tenant to threaten legal action against me. The company is not taking ownership of any of the issues that were caused by their miscommunication or negligence. Be careful!

John even came over and replaced the batteries on the smoke detector when I couldn't figure out which one was low and the beeping wouldn't stop. Our microwave broke and I messaged John and it was replaced within a few days. In my experience Scout Properties is a great property management company. I'm not sure Victor ever really knew who we were and I can't be sure he ever visited the apartment before things really went to crap. He completely missed a major toilet leak--even after the tenant moved out--which left us with a cumulative $5,773.14 water bill. Then Scout didn't handle the tenant's voucher renewal properly, with no warning to us, which made the tenant move out early and cost us rental income. Even worse, we've now been stuck for several months without a tenant and have had to cover all the turnover costs ourselves. Despite that, Scout still charged their full management fees while barely responding to us. All of a sudden, Scout dropped us as clients (including our neighbors who were clients also), kept the fees, and stopped returning calls. Our next‑door neighbors had the same experience -- and told us their tenant was even offered an apartment at another property managed by Scout. Everything started fine but turned into one expensive, stressful mess. Don't hire Scout Properties unless you want poor communication, big bills, and months of lost rent.

Throughout the whole process, Dan was extremely responsive (which is very important to a first-time home buyer) - even helping us through a mortgage crisis while he was on his honeymoon.
