Piedmont Ale House is a neighborhood bar and grill tucked away into an unassuming strip mall. They have a small outdoor patio, the main seating area and bar, and a separate connected room with several larger tables for groups of four or more. My husband and I stopped in on a Thursday evening around 7pm and the place was pretty full. We sat ourselves at a table in the back room, and I noticed how laid back the place was, which is something I really appreciate. Sadly, it seemed that the relaxed vibe extended a bit too far and reflected on their cleanliness, as I noticed all of the chair rails were dusty, the floors a bit littered, our table sticky, and the plastic menus in need of replacing. Service, however, was wonderful. Our waitress was friendly and pretty attentive given how busy she was. My husband was happy with their on tap beer selection, deciding on Red Oak ($3 on Thursdays!). I went with a margarita and it wasn't the best, but thankfully I didn't pay much for it since it was also on special. They were out of the southwestern egg rolls I initially ordered, so I ended up going with the Philly cheesesteak and homemade chips. I enjoyed the cheesesteak's fresh bread; plenty of tender meat, peppers, and onions; and gooey cheese. It could have used more mayonnaise, but it was still quite good. The homemade chips were tasty but undercooked; if I had been hungrier, I definitely would have returned them and asked for a fresh batch. My husband absolutely devoured the cheeseburger and fries he ordered. He said that it was one of the best burgers he's had in quite a while, and this is a guy who loves burgers and eats them often. I want to return to Piedmont Ale House in the future. I think there are some things they seem to do really well, namely burgers and beer at really reasonable prices! read more

I came to Piedmont Ale House for the food and outside patio . This restaurant has many TVs , as my server sat us she asked if there was a certain sporting event that my family wanted to watch. Most places don't give you that option at first interaction, which was well appreciated. The menu is stacked with plenty of food choices. I had the fish nuggets for my appetizer , I strongly recommend. My daughter order the buffalo chicken wrap , I ordered the blue wrap with impossible meat.Both wraps are packed with fresh ingredients . I was excited that this sports bar catered to my pescatarian style of eating . My wife had the cherwine barbecue ribs , she said those were the best ribs she ever had . The ribs are seasonal, so hopefully they have them when you visit. read more

It's seen better days. A handful of patrons crowded around a tv, an empty bar and a few to go orders was the extent of the happenings. The whole place smells like a bathroom. The barstools were sticky. The bartenders were abrasive and looked like they had just rolled out of bed or were fresh out of the gym. If you're not going to be dressed for conducting business at least compensate with a friendly demeanor. They did no such thing. They almost refused to speak to us and took forever to bring the tab. Then, they were collectively rude about "needing change" for a $20 bill for a $12 tab as if a $7+ tip was expected for enduring their poor attitudes, yoga pants, lackluster personality and service. The beer selection was pretty good. There was only one waitress working and she did pretty well but not the nicest. The mozzarella sticks my friend ordered were good, the Reuben I ordered was just ok, but my sweet potato chips were burnt to the point that I couldn't eat them. I thought the waitress would notice and ask but nope. But I would never serve chips that were burnt to a crisp. The menus were not clean and seemed old. Always a good time when we come to Piedmont! It's been our go to spot for almost 2 years now and we're never let down. The food here is not your regular bar dive, the burgers and chicken wings are something I CRAVE! Accompanied with plenty of beers and cider on tap, it makes this place truly something to want. The staff here are always kind and make sure you're taken care of and you always end up making friends with someone else who is there dining. We love to sit on the patio when the weather is nice! I feel like every time I have came to this place the service is bad and slow. I tell myself every-time "maybe this time will be diffident". A few examples would include my most recent visit. I walked in with two bartenders present. Saw me walk in, sat at the bar. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to even come ask me what I needed. The people sitting two seats down from me were served twice before anyone even approached me.I ordered two orders of crab dip to go and it took damn near 30 minutes. Ate there last night. We picked a seat. Atmosphere is nice but echoes very loud so there was a lot of people and I couldn't hear my waitress or my husband and vice versa. We got the egg rolls that you could tell were a frozen whatever. They we're not good. We split the mushroom burger. It was pretty good with chips. The chips were very very salty. Was in town for work and needed to grab something to eat and a beer to relax before heading home. Looked at the menu online and seemed like a good place, I'm not in Burlington too often. Went in and they had a pretty decent beer selection and the menu looked good. Do note the food menu has changed from what I could find online, I thought I got pics to upload but apparently didn't. Ended up with the ribeye steak sandwich and home style chips, and was impressed. The chips were very good, little on the greasy side but today I didn't mind, and the steak was cooked exactly as I had asked. Usually with my experience of a steak sandwich in restaurants, they tend to be fatty or tough, but this one was tender and delicious. A bit over powering on the peppers and onions but overall enjoyable. Will be back when I'm in town again. read more

What a hidden gem! We went for lunch today after a friend recommended. We were a party of 8 sitting outside for lunch. Our server was fantastic. She gave great recommendations and was extremely attentive. Everyone LOVED their food. Seriously, you can't go wrong. Sandwiches, burgers, appetizers, local beers on tap.... All exceeded expectations. Great food, generous portions. I can't say enough about the service. We were a very happy group, and we were so appreciative of all the staff. Many people checked in with us throughout the meal, and they seemed genuinely focused on delivering a memorable dining experience. They succeeded. I believe a four star review is fair here, maybe a stretch. Both service and food are mediocre at best. Service was actually below mediocre. My wrap was extremely soggy from all the juice, not a fan. The fries were tasty. Chips and queso will set your lips on fire. Bar area is rather small with a large dining room located in the next room as well as an outdoor dining area. Have been to Piedmont Ale House two times in the past two weeks. Great atmosphere, but service is poor. Ordered my hamburger well done, came cooked as medium to medium rare. Second visit, the onion rings were burnt in places, with some breading not cooked at all, very greasy. The nachos supreme were about the worst I've ever tasted, all toppings were very dry. The haddock bites were very good, though. Worst of all, though, was that I had loaded 4 or 5 songs in the Touchtunes and someone turned it off. Guess the staff just wanted to listen to their music. I lost my Touchtunes credits. Will likely never return. It's a shame, as the place has so much potential, but the staff doesn't seem to understand the business. read more

We went to the Piedmont because we were told by local friends they had sports on TV and we could catch the World Series since we were in town for Elon homecoming. It took over 30 minutes to get them to turn on the game on and in that time we only got one round of drinks and we're never asked if we wanted food. It's got a very Cheers-y vibe in the sense that the locals get taken care of first, but if they don't know you, they act that way. I have been to Piedmont Ale House a couple times now and I am never disappointed. I went the first time with 6 friends and my husband and they were very accommodating to our large group. They have a very large selection of draft beers, which is primarily why we enjoy it. My husband and I went on the evening of Thanksgiving after hitting up some Black Friday shopping. Piedmont Ale House. Just a block off the corner of Church Street and Saint Marks Church Road in a small shopping center. Plenty of parking in a private lot. From the outside it looks ok. Inside is a very seedy biker bar feel. The bar itself is worn and not in great shape. The rest of the place just has an un-kept feel to it. The service is some of the worst I have seen. I had to ask for everything I got. I do mean everything. The beer menu. The food menu. Silverware. Napkins. Refills on water. Just a completely lousy lack of effort from everyone in this place. They acted like they were bothered that you were there, and had better things to do. Standing around talking. The menu is large, with some interesting items. You will get no help on the menu, no help ordering. Prices are at a premium. The food. Just no good. I got one of their signature half pound burgers. It took a while to get it, and it did look good when it finally came out. After slicing the burger open I find that its completely raw in the middle. I tried to eat it but couldnt. All of the wait staff had disappeared and never asked if everything was ok or if I needed anything. Other menu items were equally as bad. The people here are awesome and service is always great. Constantly friendly staff and smiling faces. They have this awesome frozen drink offered during the spring. The food is top notch. We walked towards the back looking for a table (you seat yourself) and one of the servers was really rude- she practically yelled at us saying there was nothing open and there were a few people waiting before us. This place is busy on a Friday night. Full of middle aged peeps (nothing against them at all) but definitely not a college hang out spot (not that I'm of undergrad age). Good luck trying to flag down a server. I'm assuming that the bartenders are also the servers so they take turns going behind the bar (from what I was observing). It took a good 20 minutes until somebody came over to ask us if we had been helped. But in their defense, our food came out about 12 minutes after we ordered. So I suppose that makes up for the 20 minutes that my starving friends and I had spent salivating over the menu items. I ordered the hula burger, which was an EXCELLENT choice. They make their teriyaki sauce in house- with the perfect amount of kick. House chips are delicious and are generously portioned! I had a few soft and crunchy ones mixed in. I preferred them crunchy. Whoever suggested the sweet potato chips you should give them a try people! If you are looking for something light, it's the choice you need to make. I also ordered the brownie, because I have no self control. It was $5.95 and awfully small. I wasn't too impressed with it. Pretty standard brownie.
