The problem is getting ingredient-envy where you start piling on a bunch of stuff on your pizza and then when you get it, it's way too much toppings and your crust droops from the weight. Bummer. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly, and, depending on your assortment choice the pizza is very tasty. My picky 4-year-old loved her mozzarella and pepperoni slices. I'm sorry but this has to be said... This particular location is not the best in terms of cleanliness. Tonight I decided to get some pizza, but I immediately walked right back out the door as I remembered why I vowed not to revisit this particular Pieology. My experience here has been horrible on two occasions. Both times I had the same issue. First, I'm very displeased with the fact that this location doesn't require their staff to wear hair nets. Every time that I've (previously) dined at this establishment, I don't recall ever seeing a single hair net. It's so unclean, especially when one of their employees has the longest brown ponytail that extends down her back. In the past I've watched this young ladies pony tail swaying back and forth towards all the pizzas. Again, this is so unsanitary. Another thing that is extremely unsanitary is their usage of gloves. The staff members literally touch everything with these gloves, including the cleaning rag and their dirty aprons. Then, without changing their gloves, they shove their hands right back into the pizza toppings. Egh! So disgusting! I'm not embellishing, they literally do this. It's also disturbing to watch them use that same filthy rag to to clean the counter tops because in the process, they rake the toppings from the counter back into the topping trays. Oh, and I CANNOT STAND when they extend their armpits over my pizza to grab something for someone else. It's just gross! Third, I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian, therefore I don't appreciate the staff not switching out their gloves when handling different meats. I stood there and watched a staff member touch chicken, sausage and pepperoni right before she immediately started tugging on the crust of my pizza. I couldn't stop her fast enough. Anyhow, I cannot continue to remain silent about this matter. I pray that someone from corporate reads this and rectifies these issues sooner than later. Pieology overall makes great pizza and all the locations that I have been to are very clean and professional. I have to say this location goes above and beyond to ensure a great product and experience. I come in every other week and have been consistently greeted by,multiple staff members and they even took my tray and trash from my table when I was finished. I also like how this branch because it takes the time to make the pizza crust really crispy. I can not tell you how many times I have come to similar build your own pizza stores and come to find out after the first slice the pizza has gone soggy. I am a big fan of Pieology, but I am disappointed in our local Carson location. There is clearly some management issues here. They have a "B" grade from the LA department of public health and upon researching the inspection I learned that they have had a "B" grade- not only from the last inspection but from the inspection prior to that as well. Not having fixed violations from one inspection to the next makes me concerned about the locations commitment to food safety, violations included proper food storage temperatures. To add to this- every time I have been to this location the eating area and beverage station has been dirty (trash) and service has been lacking (long waits). Hoping that these issues can be corrected, but until then I will be going elsewhere. read more

We customized our pizzas, I started with the herb butter sauce and mozzarella cheese with ricotta(YUM!!!!) added pineapple, red onion, cilantro & fresh basil... The hubs started with herb butter & red sauce with mozzarella and Gorgonzola cheese, he added pepperoni, spicy chicken, ham, pineapple & cilantro. The whole prep & "bake" was super quick. We were both very satisfied with the tasty pies! Couple of friends suggested that we grab some eatz at Pieology. I wasn't so sure based on the name since my mind immediately thought of dessert..., but Pie as in Pizza, okay I was in... We arrived a little after 1:00 PM and the line was still pretty long, but it moved pretty fast. I was quite hungry, so I ordered the custom pizza with red sauce and basically added ever single topping (veggie and meats) that they offered. Pieology has a good selection of meats and toppings... About less then 10 minutes my pizza arrived at our table, and it looked like a pyramid, not a flat pizza by any means - it was awesome! Best of all the crust was thin and lightly coated with olive oil which made a perfectly thin and tasty crust.. The overall pizza was great tasting as well. Although, since I had so many toppings, I had to grab a folk to finish eating my pizza. haha. The price decent - Pizza with all those toppings ($7.95) plus a drink ($1.75). Best pizza I have had in all of LA. I have lived in New York, and had been spoiled by NY pizza and haven't been impressed with any pizza in LA until I came here. You get to make your own custom pizza with unlimited toppings for about $8. This place reminds me of 800 Degrees, except for Pieology's toppings may not be 'farm fresh', however, you can't beat the price here. The pie crust is the perfect texture; nice and crisp. So.... I have never been to a Pieology before. Pile It On Pizza over by my work got to me first! Same concept, pizza bar. PIOP is just better, in my opinion. Not to say Pieology isn't good. It is. I just wasn't wowed. I didn't like that the crust got my fingers stained black... quite a bit. The layout of the building isn't open enough with the walls placed between the line and tables. It is too cramped, and I think that is messing with me. It was good pizza, but I also didn't pick a go-to. The bbq chicken pizza was just okay. The chicken was the best part. Some ingredients were kinda just in one spot, and the huge guard between you and the worker makes it hard to communicate, let alone see your pizza. 3.5 stars, rounded down because I just wasn't that impressed. I was ravenous and the pizza was delicious, but by the time I was eating my third slice I felt in my mouth something stringy that didn't feel like cheese. Pulled it out and it was a very light colored hair :( I was immediately disgusted and could not finish the rest of the pizza. The person who helped with my pizza was a male with short dark hair and another lady that helped with the veggies also had dark hair. I presume the hair was mixed in with the mozzarella and there was one lady with very light pink hair. I wished they were required to wear hair coverings. read more

Because of that, I joined the corps with one single goal, KILL EVERY SINGLE TITAN!!! But not after I had some pizza. When I put my combination of meats and veggies on my soon to be pizza, I felt the freedom. The freedom of having whatever i wanted on one pizza. The freedom that I wish to achieve from the titans. Thus, my pizza was delivered to me on my table. As I took a bite, there it was. The colossal flavor. The colossal flavor that tore down the walls of doubt. Just like the colossal titan that destroyed my hometown. I ate it violently, like the titan that ate my mother. I was kind of intimidated by all sayings and combinations that you could have so I decided on a nice and reliable pepperoni, mozzarella cheese pizza (I was on lunch so I had to think fast) there was a family of four in front of me and they let me go ahead noticing my uniform (so nice) any who it had like a Chipotle like assembly, the sneezeshield glass the line of ingredients. I've been coming to Pieology with my family for years and I LOVE their pizza. I love everything about them. However, today based on principal I experienced something at the Carson pieology that royally struck a nerve in my soul. I just ordered $45 worth of pizza for my husband and two children. After i ordered I went back to the counter to ask for a cup of water because I was very thirsty. The girls behind the counter said they no longer gave out cups of water. I said ok and sat back down. I mulled over that statement and then it hit me that that is ridiculous! I just patronized the business $45!!! I can get a cup a water. So out of curiosity I asked why that was the case because I was just there last week, ordered pizza, and have never been denied water. Again these young girls said that those other workers should not have given me water because that was there policy. I stated that I just bought $45 worth of food and could at least get water but they still insisted I couldn't have a cup. If it wasn't for my two young children who were desperately expecting a pizza and me not wanting to hear their cries and tears I would've demanded my money back. Needless to say I can't support an establishment that's unwilling to give their loyal and regular patrons a cup of water...and for what??? Utter ridiculousness and a poor lack of customer service and training for those at that establishment. read more
